Worry Seeps In and Doesn't Leave

Ayasha was due anytime now. She had decided to be on bed rest until the pups were born. At least she had her carving that she could do. She was making a few wooden toys for her pups, which helped her from going absolutely crazy. Liam was very attentive and made sure she had whatever she needed. She could tell that he was still a bit sore about not being able to be with her and she had the feeling she might need to kick him out. But she also hoped that he didn’t blame her for not letting him be there. She did want him to be there with her. But Panda was right that she might attack him for no reason other than he was there.

But now that it was getting close to time for the pups to be born, she had time to think and worry. She was definitely worried about the pups and herself. She assumed that this would be a hard labor since she was so slight and that it was her first litter. What if something happened to the pups? There were plenty of things that could go wrong with them. What if something happened to her? She could bleed out after the pups came.

She was also worried about Liam. If a pup or pups were born black and living, what would he think of her? Would he question her faithfulness? She was pretty sure at least one of his grandparents was black and she had no idea about her family. There might have been a black furred canine in her family. Plus, what would he do to the pup? Kill it? He'd definitely try. And she wasn’t sure if she could stop him in her state. Luckily, Panda would be there and so would Amy. Though what had possessed her to agree to have Amy be there, she didn’t know.

A lot of these worries were present before she got pregnant, back when Liam was still convincing her that she was ready. She just hadn’t thought about them until recently since she had been trying to wrap her mind around being a mother and getting through all the things that came with it. She only wished that there was someone she could talk to about her problems. She couldn’t really talk to the women about Liam killing any black pups nor could she talk to Liam about that or her other worries. She wouldn’t want to burden him with more things about her pregnancy.

She sighed and rubbed her very swollen belly as one of the pups kicked her. They had been shifting a lot lately, likely to prepare themselves for birth. She only wished that she could be like them and fully prepare herself for her birth. She picked her carving up from where she dropped it and put the finishing touches on her carving. She glanced up as Liam came back from whatever he was doing and she gave him a grin. For now, all was well and Ayasha let her worries migrate to the back of her mind.
