Head Rest

OOC here!

Tharin found himself leaving the territory, needing to have a rest from the pack's activities. Everything was going well in the pack, the alphas enjoying themselves fully, while Tharin was able to romp and play with the rest of the pack. Which would be fine, if it weren't for the fact that Fayne was in heat, and far too willing to act on her instincts. Sending Tharin out of the pack lands to avoid jumping her, as he was gradually getting closer to doing.

Traveling his tail wagged softly behind him, a large grin on his face. Yes, he didn't like leaving the territory when unnecessary, but he did enjoy travel. Life had given him a taste for it, the land beating beneath his feet as he moved. His tail swayed softly, thinking about bringing down a goat perhaps, to try and bring back to the pack. A nice treat. He rather liked goats, different from the caribou he usually hunted.

Word Count :: 251 Never attempted Percival in his lupus form, so I'll enjoy getting to get experience with it!.

The jackal hybrid ventured through the land he'd only a short time ago been seemingly stranded on, his movements hasty, but completely controlled.

He stood taller than most jackals, due to being a percentage Borzoi, as well as containing a slight amount of wolf genes. Also because of this breeding, Percival's coat was softer and longer than the predominate species of his lineage, but overall, he most closely resembled a jackal.

His family and previous pack was a unique one, with the mixture of breeds and all, but Percival was now separated, by choice, and regretted nothing.

Company was nothing he really ever required, besides perhaps the visits of a certain wolf he respected dearly. Because of this antisocial personality, the hybrid enjoyed wandering alone, isolating himself from the presence of anything and everything that would cause him to creep out of his comfort zone.

Respecting the boundaries of other known packs, Percival was sure to keep his distance, not looking for a dispute, and certainly not requesting any unwanted or bothersome questioners.

He'd already taken time to sit and remember, letting his memories and reflections rushed through his brain during his time alone. It was a sort of ritual, and it helped motivate Percival to go on. The pain hurt, and at times, he found his actions of the day shameful, embarrassing, or just downright regrettable, but he would learn from those mistakes, and being fully aware of that fact helped the jackal hybrid to assure himself of better days.

OOC here!

The scent of another drew Tharin's attention. Changing direction he approached it. If he was going to take down a goat it would be better with two after all. Easier to handle. Tail swaying he spotted a rather strange looking canine. He was thin, and too tall. The ears were large as well in form. It gave him a rather estranged look, almost like the stranger was starving. A stark contrast to Tharin's muscular frame, his half shedded coat giving him an even bulkier appearance.

He let out a short howl before stepping and walking alongside the canine. He did his best not to stare, looking ahead. The scent was odd too. The canine smelled of the sea, with a couple other scents mixed in. He let the silence reign for a while, just letting his nose do all the questing for him. Concluding that it was something like a coyote wolf hybrid, but a lot skinnier, Tharin pushed on, indicating with his head a request for the other to join his hunt.

Word Count :: 242 Sorry if quality suffers, not feeling too well tonight.

The pale golden canine froze as soon as he was aware of the other's presence.

He'd caught the scent of the wolf before he finally saw him, but it didn't leave him convinced that no harm could come of their meeting. He wasn't really pessimistic, to say, but he considered all the possibilities, good and bad. And he always made sure to keep clear thought of the bad, for a disregard of such could lead to devastating results, whereas not paying too much attention toward the good less often caused serious harm.

The wolf was bulkier, more toned than the lanky Percival Teach. His taller, slimmer stance gave him the advantage of speed and agility, but as for physical aggression such as fighting, the jackal hybrid was less likely, especially in this situation, to exit the victor.

He made a mental note to give the stranger his room, and to mind his own.

But as the other then walked over to and alongside him, Percival's heart rate grew faster, curious of the intentions this canine had. After a short howl and a moment of moving together, the stranger was off, but not after giving a motion Percival could only read as a sort of invitation.

He'd hate to get involved with something he knew nothing of, but he might also regret disobeying, or disrespecting, the stronger built animal by any means, so, after a pause, the jackal hybrid found himself following behind.

OOC get better

It was a moment before the other followed him. The skinny hybrid was plenty nervous, Tharin able to smell and see it in his form. The wolf didn't mean any harm though, simply finding it easier to hunt with a partner. The silence came naturally to him, communicating through his actions rather than words. He wasn't one for talking, as he usually didn't have much to say. His tail wagged as the stranger followed, looking ahead to scout for the prey they would take down.

It wasn't long before the scent of goats reached him. Tharin walked higher up into the rocky terrain, pausing occasionally to make sure the other was keeping up. He was traveling surprisingly well for someone that looked so starved. Perhaps he was just naturally that thin. It was a bit odd to consider, but the mixed scents were already puzzling the wolf enough. He stopped as the herd came into view, looking over at the hybrid, the hunt clear in his eyes.

The wagging of the stranger wolf's tail not only confused, but calmed Percival, assuming danger a less likely risk with such a friendly gesture. Though, he'd been wrong before...

He continued to follow the other, his own eyes scanning over the ears, large ears perked to let no sound nearby go undetected. The golden canine wasn't sure what he was searching for, but he wasn't against the idea of staying aware of his surroundings.

A strong scent reached his nostrils, causing Percival to pause in his movement in order to match the smell to whatever animal was causing it. He'd become well acquainted to many different scents, though after a long period of sniffing nothing but musky crew members, salty sea water and the foul aroma of fish, the jackal hybrid took a while to figure out that it was most likely a sort of goat or sheep that they'd come across.

Percival kept up, not wanting to be seen as weak or incompetent, though he new his opinion of the other's thoughts of him mattered little. It was just in his being to cooperate, if he felt so obliged to do so.

When the goats finally came into view for him, his tail wagged a bit, the hybrid more excited that he'd placed the aroma correctly than going after the creatures.

Though he could tell that was the plan after looking to his leading canine; hunting goats was what he was lead to.

He wasn't against it. But if he'd known this was what was intended for him to do, he would probably find the time to be used better doing something else. Now, though, he was aside this wolf, and thought it most logical to carry out the plot before he could return home.

OOC here!

The hybrid's submission, as slight as it was, a simple agreement in his eyes, was enough for Tharin to continue on his way. Studying the goats he looked for something that would be relatively easy to take down, large enough for both of them but not so much it would be a waste. Taking on something that was too large that they wouldn't even eat all of was foolhardy, risking injuries for nothing. Pacing over Tharin let the goats catch his presence, waiting to see how they'd react.

Some of the kids immediately returned, others remaining as they were. While most of the herd responded nervously, slower individuals stood out, not fully aware of the threat he held. Selecting a kid that was a touch too far he swung his head, woofing to call the other canine to his side. He needed to make sure their target was understood. A big enough meal for both of them, hopefully taking off that starved look from the other.
