Fayne's heat had left her with an inexhaustible energy. She had been spending time frolicking in the meadow chasing after anything that moved, conversations with birds and what not. Only Tharin had come to visit her leaving her with an empty feeling and an unimaginable desire. The small wolf was rolling around in the flowers trying to keep her mind off of him. He was all she'd been thinking about since the visit. Eventually, it was too much for her to deal with. She abruptly stood up and looked around the meadow, in search of a mission. There must be something she could do to occupy the thoughts swimming around. Then it hit her. She still hadn't overcome her fear of the border. Which, had only increased with news of the new pack mate, Palaydrian, being attacked by an outside source. She wasn't clear who it was but she was sure it hadn't been Amy. Her scent would have surely been attached to Palaydrian if it had been which ruled the thought out.

With eagerness and determination Fayne made her way to the border. She stopped a few feet away a sudden fear engulfing her. Her hackles raised with no instigation besides the sound of birds chirping and the sight of trees all around her. The silver figure's head lowered with hesitation as she stood there. She could feel her legs trembling underneath her feeling as though Amy was going to pop out from behind of of the many trees and attack. Weary emerald eyes darted all around just waiting for it to happen as if it was a sure thing that she would be executed.

Fayne stood there for a total of twenty minutes before the fear started to dissipate. First, it had build up to a point where she felt like turning and running as she did the time before. But, she was able to push past it probably with help from her heat. It made her bolder than usual. Once she felt confident that Amy was nowhere to be seen, she took a step forward and the whole process started over again. The fear returned to it's heightened state, this time it lasted a total of ten minutes. This challenge was turning into a full day's work. When the fear disappeared for the second time she took the third and final step with took her over the border. The frightened female cringed although nothing was threatening her. She sat there in a ball for a couple minutes repeating the process for the last time. When the fear was gone, she built up all the courage she could gather and took off into the trees as fast as she could. She needed to get as far away from the safety of the border as possible to defeat this fear. She needed to be left with no other option. She ran for a few minutes before she felt her energy returning to her. The freshness of the air filled her lungs and fueled her to keep running. She let her tongue hang from her mouth happily, overexcited to be outside of New Dawn for the first time in a month.

She continued to run until she couldn't anymore. Finally, she came to a stop and looked around, taking a deep breath of the outside air. Her pack mates scents were no longer there which brought a subtle sadness to the dainty creature. She needed to do this though, it was for the best. She continued to stray through the territory in search of water. When she came upon a small trickling stream she leaned down to lap up the water. Even with her head lowered, her eyes were kept facing in front of her. She was now out in the open and anyone could come and decide to ruin her day.

Finding a battle to prove herself in was more difficult than the young warrior had thought. The only death on her hands was the prey that she hunted, the only blood she had seen from various scrapes in the sparring ring. Even leaving the pack's safety and exploring the lands around it hadn't yielded up anything for Adelle to deal with. Sighing the secui formed youth decided to investigate the harsher northern landscape. It was much rockier there, the sea's bite clear on the land.

Traveling she reached a small secluded wood. The plants were dark and thick, with paths cutting through clear of grass, dirt padding underneath. An old forest, light filtering through the trees to give a dappled appearance to the land. Smelling another canine her tail curled up, proudly held tall. She was a member of Casa after all, with nothing to fear from what was out in the world. Reaching a small stream Adelle woofed her presence, tail wagging.

The rush of being free from New Dawn's borders was quick to fade. Fayne had left behind her safety and was feeling extremely vulnerable. She needed to go back. Quickly, she lapped up her fill of the crisp water. Her body telling of the insecurities that plagued her. The silver female's tail was low, nearly tucked underneath her. Her ears were pushed back and eyes were darting all around her. There was a sense of panic setting in. It was one thing to cross the border, but it was a whole other to be out here with nobody but herself. Once finished, she sat up, body hunched over the small stream. She could see her reflection in the clear water. For a few moments she looked over herself. She noted the scars Amy had left behind. The one on her ear was barely noticeable, not a big deal. But, for the first time, she saw the extent of the injury. Emerald eyes widened as she gazed at the large scar on her left shoulder. It was in the shape of a wolves eye staring back at her. Was this her intention? To let Fayne know that she would always be watching? With a shutter, the dainty wolf turned away unable to look at herself any longer. The mark would be a reminder to her just how vile Luperci could be.

Hastily, she turned to start running back but was caught off guard by the presence of a large female. Her woof reverberated through the air, loud and dominant. The sound surprised Fayne and sent her scurrying backwards into the water with a loud yelp. Her heartbeat accelerated, eyes widened, and tail was now tucked underneath her with fear. Her heart was pounding in her ears blocking out the sounds of the forest. She wanted to run as fast as she could. Only when she noted the female's wagging tail did she calm a bit. It wasn't Amy and she wasn't going to harm Fayne. It was just a big puppy. She breathed in deep trying to calm herself for a few moments before she removed herself from the cold water, back end now drenched. She stood trying her best to regain her dominant posture, it wasn't in her anymore. She had left it back in her pack lands. She took a few steps forward and eyed the puppy shyly. "You startled me half to death. Who are you?" She's never seen this young female before so close to New Dawn's borders. But, her presence was welcoming and kind which was a huge relief for the timid wolf.

The female she'd come across startled back. Adelle watched with puzzlement as the silver wolf tripped back into the stream she'd just been drinking from. She wasn't that frightening. Adelle thought pretty highly of her warrior skills, but she didn't even bear any scars. She was young as well, taking away more of the fright. Maybe because the female was so small? It was odd, how tiny all the canines outside of Casa were. Puffing herself up the best she could Adelle tried to take on a dominant stance in response to the other's position, doing her best to look reliable.

The wolf finally came back out, half soaked by the cold water. Her ears perked up at the question, tail swaying again. My name's Adelle. I'm from Casa. We're a warrior pack. Very good. Her tongue lolled out of her mouth as she sat down, calm and happy as could be. Whether or not this was what she'd been searching for Adelle was in a pretty good mood. Who are you? She eyed the female curiously. Did you get the scar from battle? Grandpa's got lots of scars. I don't have any yet, but I'm going to earn them!

Oddly, after scaring Fayne, the stranger assumed a more dominant position which only caused the silver wolf to recoil some more. Generally, she would duke it out with the stranger to show her she was boss, but not today. She simply shriveled up some more, tail coming to hang limply behind her and ears pushed back as she gazed at the large dog who wasn't threatening in the least. Ears flicked at the name Casa. Fayne was still at a lack of knowledge for the packs around here. New Dawn was her home and it was all she knew. It was all she needed. Regardless, she introduced herself with the kindness she held for everyone. The energized way of the pup was refreshing. "Adelle is a pretty name. I'm Fayne Gremory, from New Dawn. We prefer to live on all fours the way our ancestors did."

The small she-wolf couldn't help but crack a smile. Adelle's demeanor was infectious. Large rump planted on the ground, tongue happily hanging from her mouth. She was just a large puppy. The pup's next question caught her off guard, head lowering and smile fading as she thought of the horrid scar she now had. It wasn't even a battle she'd obtained it from. If so, it wouldn't be so bad. At least she would have earned it. Emerald eyes averted Adelle's gaze focusing on a tree behind her. She spoke in a dolor voice. "Yeah...from battle." She came to meet the pup's gaze. "You want scars? Why?" Why would anyone want marking like this? They were reminders of failure and in Fayne's case, reminders that there were evil Luperci out there to be avoided.

She must have trusted Adelle a lot, continuing to submit to the pup. It was a heavy responsibility, being in charge of someone like that. The dog swore to herself that she would make sure it didn't go to waste, taking good care of her first charge. She'd be an amazing leader, just like in her day dreams where she lead the others to victory in battle. She nodded her head at the words, tail swaying happily behind her. Why? You can't hold weapons. Adelle liked fighting in secui form, but optime was definitely lots of fun.

The fun smile Fayne wore disappeared at Adelle's words. Had she been wrong? Was it a scar to mark someone's passing, or a memory of a battle lost? That wasn't good. Whining Adelle moved over, noting her sorrowful gaze. Nudging her she listened. So it was from battle, though Fayne didn't say who won. Adelle had a fair idea though. She perked up again at the question. Scars are proof that you could have died, and didn't. That you survived something tough. I want to be like that.

The pup's statement was true about her not being able to hold weapons, but she didn't want to. Weapons were human made items that only caused unnecessary bloodshed between persons of the same or other species. Like from the many stories told of the humans and how they waged war on each other, killing thousands of their own. They also used their vile weapons to injure wolves and other animals, the same way Amy had used the bow and arrow and the knife to inflict injuries on the silver fae. The blond woman only increased her hatred for such items. Fayne kept her thoughts to herself and let out a small chuckle. Adelle was young and not yet understanding of the world which lightened the atmosphere quite a bit. Fayne finally came to take a seat interested about this young one.

The large pup came over to nudge her, an understanding and welcome gesture which Fayne returned. Her next words were wise for her age. Dark ears perked as she realized that was very true. Amy could have finished her off at any moment and left her corpse there to rot and give nutrition to the forest, but she didn't. Unfortunately, it wasn't because of anything Fayne had did. If she'd actually fought back she may have been proud of the mark on her shoulder. But that wasn't the case. She hadn't been tough, she'd been weak. Yes, it was a tough situation but to her that didn't factor for anything. The silver one's head dropped in dismay and a discontented huff was released. I may not have died, but I may as well have. I was shown mercy, that's the only reason I'm still alive and that is nothing to be proud of in my eyes. I can't fight. She thought she could, but the blond dog had proven her wrong.

Nothing Adelle said seemed to be making the situation better. Fayne was still upset about the scar remark that she'd made. Adelle hadn't realized that it was something other than what she was used to. There was so much of the world that she didn't know yet, still grasping with a child's understanding. Crouching down Adelle nudged her again, large icy eyes sympathetic to the silver wolf's plight. Adelle had more confidence than her. It was clear in her stance, her dominance over the female despite her youth.

It really was bad. Unable to fight, and taken down in a strike. Mercy wasn't the source of that scar though. It was a claim. Adelle understood that much. The same as she saw scars as a badge of honor to wear, it looked like the one who had did this didn't scar herself when she won but the ones she had conquered. It must have been a long line of conquests. How powerful was this fighter? Adelle wanted to fight like that, though she definitely wouldn't mark the ones that lost to her. It was disgraceful for a warrior to do so. I'm sorry to hear that. You can learn how to fight at Casa though. We know all about fighting!
