Slowly the blonde woman picked her way through the lands leading up to the new pack, Vinatta. To her knowledge, nobody from Inferni had conversed with the new pack and as Emma was sunny, curious girl she wanted to know just what this place was about. She didn't ride in on suspicion though, as her clan mates might have, no, she came for a different reason. The coyote woman came bearing goodwill, the peaceful one as always. With her she carried a basket, and though the gifts inside were born from the goodness of her heart, she couldn't help feeling childish as she appraised the items. Inside the basket she carried were two necklaces, simple leather cord with a tiny vial full of small bones adorning each one with a single red and orange feather attached to the vial as well as two leather cloaks that were hooded, rabbit fur lining the hoods. Though it wasn't from her leaders and from her, it was a gesture and it meant the same across the board. Nervously she stepped over a few fallen branches and was met with the distinct scent of a packs borders, and here she stopped and looked on with wide bi-colored eyes.

Not only was she bearing gifts, but she was dressed the part as well. A light breeze had picked up before she left and she too, wore a matching cloak, though hers was white rabbit fur instead of black and grey. Her hair was decorated with sweet smelling flowers and small shells woven throughout and braided into the long tresses of the coyote woman. Her scent was distinctly Infernian, the honeysuckle and lavender floating off of her in waves to be carried away by the slight wind. She sighed inwardly, then breathed out before plastering a sunny smile onto her maw. The sunshine child shouldn't be nervous, the coywolf doubted her new neighbors were harmful, and if they were, well then she had gained some information about the pack that she could caution the other clan members about. However, she preferred to keep an optimistic look about things and decided to go on with her plan. Raising her maw to the sky she howled, it floating through the tree trunks to reach whatever ears were listening, sounding soulful and beautiful before trailing off into a series of yips.

A strange mix of both species, it was both beautiful and strange. Much like the ball of sunfire that awaited whomever would come to meet her.

lost into the weight of gravity

Summer was just around the corner; Coli could smell it on the breeze, feel it in the earth. The days were getting warmer, and the plants were getting taller. She rocked back onto her heels, wiping a smudge of dirt from her nosetip. The herb garden she and Saul had started was coming along nicely; she made a point of checking it every morning for weeds springing up, and carrying a wineskin of water from the Grand Lake to make sure the exposed soil did not dry out and crack. Her own personal flowers, the ones she had carried from the former Crimson Dreams territory and transplanted into the hill surrounding her house, had finally bounced back from their wilted state. She was deeply relieved that her efforts at gardening were not in vain; it had been a long time since she had exercised her green thumb, and a part of her feared she had lost her only talent by not using it. It was possible her next task would be to tend to their overgrown vineyard, though the size of that responsibility made her shy away. It would take her all season to try and tame the wild grapevines, and another season to try and harvest them all. If it wasn't so wasteful, she would have considered chopping down the tangled vines they had now, and letting them regrow next year onto nice tame trellises.

It was then she heard a call; a beautiful soulful howl, that lead into a chorus of yipping. Coli stood quickly, anxiously looking toward the village. Were Saul or Lilin nearby to answer the call? Bran or Niernan? Even gruff Ezra or enigmatic Miskunn would be preferable to her, knowing there were grass stains on her knees and dirt on her fingers, and that she was so timid at heart. But no one else seemed to be around on this sunny day, and Coli steeled her nerves, smoothing her palms against the fur of her thighs. She could do this. It didn't sound like the beseeching cry of a joiner, so her lack of authority would not be an issue.

She padded lightly from the grassy slopes of their hidden village, darting into the grove of pine trees. Their aromatic needles masked the scent of whomever had called her, but they also served to perfume Coli's pelt, making her quiet approach difficult to detect. It was not until the bobtailed wolf reached the borders that she caught sight of the young woman, her familiar golden mane bright in the sunlight that illuminated her, shining on the tiny shells and flowers woven into her tresses. She carried a basket and wore a fur-lined cloak, but Coli still recognized her; this was Emma, the cheerful coyote she had met on the beach and collected starfish with. She had not expected to see her friend standing here on the borders of the fledgeling pack, but knowing that Inferni was a neighbor of sorts and that Emma was a member of the 'yote clan, it was not so farfetched...

Coli emerged from the pine trees, muzzle wreathed in a pleasant smile. "Emma, it's good to see you again!" she called in cheerful response, feeling a rare sense of elation. How had her friend figured out to look for her here? They had met before Vinátta's founding, so there was no way she could have known. There really was something magical about this place, she firmly believed.

ooc; i can already tell ems is going to be heartbroken when the rest of the plot goes through. Sad

The coyote woman rocked to and fro on her heels, waiting patiently for her call to be answered. There was no doubt in her mind that though the pack was new, it was probably a larger territory and it might take some time for someone to come. Idly her tail flicked back and forth behind her as her bi-colored eyes roamed over the thick tree trunks of pine, the scent refreshing and also very strong. Maybe she would snap a few small branches off before leaving, she rather liked the smell and had not come across it in Inferni yet. A content sigh escaped her creamy maw as the sunshine warmed her mottled face, and the flower-child lifted up her face to receive the days warmth - a delicate smile slipping across her muzzle. However, a few minutes later, however faint, she heard the quiet approach of another and a distinct smell that escaped through the mask of pine and she opened her eyes. Her gaze landed on a familiar figure exiting the trees and immediately her tail began wagging furiously, how fortunate was she that Coli had come to greet her!

Her thoughts were immediately voiced by the bobtail wolf, who issued a greeting of warmth much like Emmanuelle had hoped for in these new lands. " Coli! I had no idea you lived here. " She began enthusiastically, gently placing her basket on the ground before rushing forward to envelope the chocolate hued woman in a tight but quick embrace before backing a few steps away. A sunny smile was plastered on her features as she clasped her hands in front of her in pleasure, oh how good it was to see her fellow beach bum in an area that was much closer to get to then the shattered coast. " Though it is a pleasure to see you as always, I had originally brought a few gifts of goodwill for your leaders as a welcome to the land. " She said softly, eyes firmly situated on Coli's own brilliant blues. The coywolf gestured to the basket, walking over to pick it up to place it more near the Vinatta packwolf. " It's simple really, just two necklaces and two leather cloaks for your pack leaders, but I am sure I can meet them at a later date. " Came her hopeful words, though she was much happier that Coli had come to greet her instead.

" How is pack life treating you? You guys are very lucky to have set up here, it looks to be a beautiful piece of land. " She asked shyly, suddenly aware of the females gaze on her. Since their last meeting Emma had some time to think about how she was growing into her body and her breasts had filled out some as well as her hips, giving her a very womanly appearance. The glances she had received from Angel had not gone unnoticed and the young woman hadn't put a line between both genders when it came to attraction, and Coli was very much attractive to the newly interested girl.

No sooner had the greeting left her lips did Coli find herself swept up into an embrace. It lasted for just a moment; the suddenness of the gesture causing her to bristle and stiffen anxiously, but the warmth and closeness making her relax again. She released the breath she hadn't realized she was holding as Emma backed several paces, those bi-colored eyes holding her gaze effortlessly. Emma had no way of knowing, but Coli had not shared that kind of touch with another body in many seasons, and it left her feeling a little dizzy. It took her a moment to get her thoughts back on track -- had the sun gotten a lot warmer just now? -- and she struggled to find her voice.

"Y-you really didn't know I was here? That's so l-lucky!" Coli stammered, mortified to hear her old stutter resurface. What was it about this coyote girl that threw her off? She was never adept at socializing with anyone, that was true, but Emma in particular pulled her out of her comfort zone and made her feel foolish and awkward. The basket served as a distraction, and she quickly grasped the handle, accepting it. "Gifts are such a nice idea, I'll make sure Saul and Lilin get them. You're too sweet," she added, meaning the sentiment. She would never understand how such a generous soul could inhabit Inferni; unless their ways had changed drastically since Coli's absence, the coyote clan were well known for violence. She could certainly not picture Emma hurting anyone, wolf or otherwise. Actually... her mental picture of Emma did not match up with the alluring figure she saw before her now. Had she always sported those curves, or was Coli just noticing now?

"Pack life is much better than being a loner," she admitted easily, knowing her outlook and even her appearance had improved here. She was taking better care of herself, now that she had a responsibility to the others she shared the land with. "I have a house now! And it is beautiful here -- would you like to see for yourself?" Coli surprised herself with the invitation, wondering if her packmates would care if she brought a guest in. She knew they were friendly and had no qualms with Infernians, but she found herself wondering what they would think of Emma. Would they see how sunny and uplifting her presence was? Would they like her as much as Coli did? She bit her lip, hoping they would see her friend in the same light. A part of her even wanted to show off.

Emma's tail wagged happily behind her, and a bright smile graced her features. She hardly paid mind to the small stammer at the end of Coli's speech, the coyote girl was much too enamored with the scenery and the beautiful wolf woman in front of her. Though she had killed more then one wolf, she could never see Coli being one too agree with what the Boreas did. She was too friendly and nice which Emma appreciated because not many were. It seemed that the child crafted of sunshine was one and alone, for she knew nobody who was as bubbly and friendly as she was. Though if she found someone like that one day, well, they would become fast friends. Her tail moved a smidgeon faster as Coli mentioned the basket of gifts, her smile growing wider. If her own pack had not extended a hand, well, she would. It was always good to make impressions, and Inferni needed a facelift.

The clan of fire and brimstone was changing, slowly, but possibly for the better. Her ears perked in the chocolate colored wolfess's direction and she nodded, she knew what it was like to be a loner and without a pack and she couldn't be happier in her home. Coyote's by nature were solitary animals but maybe it was in part to the hybrid blood that many of them shared that called them all together, either way it was a place she would never leave. Not after the relationships she had forged inside the clan lands. Her smile turned into a toothy grin and she beamed at the other, simply delighted at the prospect of seeing the others home. " I would love to see it! I can only imagine something of yours would be beautiful. " She replied, shyness seeping into her words as she stepped closer to Coli.

lost into the weight of gravity

"Ah! Well, that's... ahh..." Coli stammered, unsure of how to respond to the compliment. She had never been one to take flattery well, even if it was directed towards her new homeland rather than her own faded looks. "F-follow me?" she asked timidly, gesturing with her hand. Taking the lead was new to her, but of course she had to be the one to show Emma the way. Vinátta was a beautiful place and she was very proud to live here. It just made her very nervous for some odd reason, unsure of why her heart was fluttering so quickly to know that Emma was behind her.

Just as Coli would never guess that Emma had killed wolves, Emma would never guess that Colibri had killed coyotes. She harbored mistrust toward the long-eared race of canines, but that life or death situation was behind her now, and she had escaped from the ones that held her captive. Both girls had blood on their hands, but it was inescapable. They would be the ones slain if they had not taken action. It was some solace, but Coli still felt guilt when she thought of it, especially now when she thought of Emma. They were not so different, the yearlings she had poisoned that winter; they could have easily been Emma's coyote siblings or nephews, a thought that made her look away, feeling ill. She took a deep breath and waited for it to pass, reminding herself firmly that the past could not be changed. And the lovely Emmanuelle would not hurt her, did not possess the cruelty that other Infernians did. She should not judge her for the length of her ears or any other superficial reason... even if it was easier to fall into old fearful habits.

The pine trees loomed tall around them as they moved deeper into the grove, blanketed by the shadows they cast and the rich aroma of pine needles. It was the scent all her packmates carried in their fur, and now Emma would wear it too, just for a short while. It was a shame the young female preferred Inferni, because her sunny nature would be welcome in Vinátta; the very name meant 'friendship'. "The village is this way, through the trees... my house is towards the edge, so we won't be bothering anyone else. It's, uh, nothing special really. My house, I mean, the village is really nice," she backpedaled, realizing suddenly that under Emma's scrutiny, her house would seem rather small and shabby... not unlike herself. At least there were the pretty flowers outside, surely the girl would like those? They had the rainbow of colors reminiscent of the starfish they had hunted together, and Emma seemed to like colorful things. She could take her to see the lake and the vineyard, and perhaps the stables if she liked horses, though Coli herself did not. It would be a friendly tour, nothing serious. She just hoped Emma would like what she saw.
