Getting there

Word Count → 310 :: Wheeee sorry about the lateness. Takes place just inside the Arte borders. Keldava left a nice trail of blood from the body when she was heading back in.

It was a good day. The sun was shining, the birds singing and Keldava had the better part of a small deer slung over her shoulder; the first large prey she had actually managed to catch by herself. The deer was young and already injured, a sprained leg from what Keldava could see, and even then it had taken Keldava's Secui form, several bruises and all she had learnt about hunting to bring it down. Despite that it was still a hefty achievement to the young pup and had her in a very good mood.

Keldava was finally starting to grow into her Optime form, well somewhat. Hey earlier successes at moving about from the fight a week ago were hard to replicate; she could walk about still but without the panic of her sister being kidnapped to motivate her she had to put a lot of thought into moving about correctly for the taller form. Still now that she could stay in it for extended amounts of time, which she was doing despite the inconvenience, she should learn quickly. Hopefully. She was at least managing to walk now, as long as she concentrated.

Keldava wasn't eating much at the moment, she had eaten a fair amount directly after catching the deer, and was instead chewing on a bone as she walked, thinking about what she was going to do with the rest of the corpse. Her mind was already set on some leather strips to tie her newly acquired daggers to her thighs like Mahnaya did but even the small deer she had caught left her a lot of bones and leather to work with. Maybe she would ask 'Gina or 'Dora; her sisters were more artistic than she was, they would probably be able to think of better ideas for things to make than she would.

Ovidiu was young, and not the smartest cat in the world, so instead of realizing after having met Dalgina that he was indeed on pack lands, and that he should better leave, instead he stayed and had found a nice hovel in which to take a nap. The beautiful, black wolfess had been nice enough to share a small meal of mice and bunnies with him, but it ultimately had not done much in the way of satiating his ever present hunger. So, he had decided to sleep the hunger pangs away, and had slept all night in the borders of Cercatori.

The smell of blood and fresh meat was what woke him, and he opened his slate eyes to peer about him, confused for a moment in his drowsy state. Where was he? Oh yes, he had no idea, and there was a man out there coming to kill him. But what was that amazing smell?

Standing, the big cat shook himself free from dirt and burs as best he could and then stiffly moved away from his hovel to investigate. Maybe someone had left behind a meal, a fox or badger, or maybe even a wolf or cougar. He had been lucky enough to stumble upon a couple of these tasty gems in the past couple weeks, but, as always, it had never been enough to satiate him. Oh how he missed the days of meat delivered to him three times a day, and always the snacks snuck to him by the sisters. He had grown fat on their wealth, and now, he was starving. Where others of his kind were hunting deer and moose in Russia, here he was starving. What a pitiful tiger he was.

Finally, the smell led him to its source, and sadly, it was not an abandoned carcass, instead, another beautiful young Luperci girl, with half a deer across her shoulder. Ovi’s stomach growled despite his disappointment, and he watched her for a time. He noticed that her smell was very, very familiar, and that she smelled nearly exactly like Dalgina had. Maybe they were related? But Ovi hesitated, because he saw the daggers tied to the girl’s thighs; he didn’t like daggers.

Word Count → 448 :: Keldava is like "Awww shit" XD

A set of leather straps for her knives would definitely be at the top of her list of things to make Keldava thought to herself, grumbling quietly as she tried to adjust the ropes she had holding the blades now, one of which was placed unconfotably, and wincing as she just caused the knife to poke into her thigh harder. Between grumbling about the knife, concentrating on keeping her footing and other various thoughts taking up her mind Keldava almost didn’t notice the weird scent that drifted past her nostrils, doing a double take as she processed it ten seconds after first smelling it.

With ‘Dora’s kidnapping still fresh in her mind the presence of a unfamiliar scent inside pack territory panicked Keldava and she immediately spun to face it. Unfortunately in her panic she had stopped focusing on her balance and allowed the heavy meat she hadn’t thought to drop to unbalance her. Keldava tripped over her own feet and fell to the ground, letting out a very loud yelp as the fall caused the uncomfortably placed knife to poke her hard enough to break the skin.

Keldava gave a long whine at the pain and reached down to feel the wound, her hand coming away stained with a few drops of red from what appeared to be a shallow cut. Huffing angrily Keldava pulled the knives out of their holsters and slid them along the ground to where the deer carcass had come to rest. Keldava’s eyes suddenly widened in shock and she spun around as she realised she had forgotten about the weird smell.

Keldava let out an involuntary gasp as she saw the creature lurking in the undergrowth. It was a large creature, holding features matching no canine she had ever seen and with a coat of striking orange and white, overlaid with black stripes. Under normal circumstances Keldava would have been enthralled with the creature and its mixture of beauty and obvious power, at the moment though, her eyes were wide with a hint of fear.

Now that she was still and focusing she could recognise the scent as slightly familiar, a scent pattern that Mahnaya had identified for her as feline and Keldava’s split ear tingled at the thought, remembering when a bobcat had given the young puppy the scar to drive her off. But this was no little animal the size of a pup seeking to gain retribution for being disturbed, this was a massive beast that looked like it could eat her whole!

”H-hello?” Keldava called out, hoping in vain that the creature might be able to speak and wishing that she ahdn;t thrown her knives quite so far away.

Ovidiu watched as the girl began fiddling with one of her daggers and he crouched lower into the brush. Yes, he should certainly leave, if she caught sight of him, she surely would use one of those on his flesh. But just as the tiger made his mind up to leave, he saw a look come upon her face that revealed she had sensed him and she wheeled around quickly. Ovi jerked even deeper into the brush, but stopped as the girl lost her footing, dropping her deer and falling. She yelped in pain, and he wondered what had happened, but she then drew and threw the daggers to the side. Oh, she had fallen on the sharp instruments and cut herself, he could see and smell the blood.

But then, she turned to look at him, eyes wide. They weren’t full of anger or malice though, but instead fear. He returned her gaze with large, slate eyes. Was she going to call for help? Was she going to for the daggers? He wanted to get out of there badly, but then her shaky voice called out. She was scared, that was obvious, but so was he.

The large cat lay frozen in the brush, silently, watching her as intently as she was he. It took him a moment to come out of his shocked, frightened state, and he managed to whisper out a tentative, Hello… to her too. He knew this wasn’t the smartest idea, her with her weapons and all, but what else could he do? It was best to keep her in his sights then to turn and run away.

The pain in Keldava’s thigh was suddenly forgotten in favour of shock when the cat in the bush actually spoke back to her! Keldava hadn’t been expecting the cat to talk back, she only knew them as vicious creatures that randomly attacked, and her fear was put aside to some degree by sheer curiosity over the creature. She pulled herself up into a crouching position to get a better look at the feline hidden in the shadows.

”You… you can talk?” she asked in wonder, creeping forwards slightly. Keldava made it about two feet forwards before she realised that she was walking towards the massive cat and she shrunk back again, though she didn’t retreat. Half of her wanted to shift into Secui and high-tail it out of there but the other half wanted to see more of this weird, beautiful looking cat that could talk.

Keldava;s voice was almost a whisper as she called out again, a slight hint of fear evident in her voice, ”You… won’t hurt me will you?” While Keldava liked to act as though she was older than she actually was on occasions like this her youth showed; a positive answer here would calm her down a great degree because after all, why would something intelligent enough to answer her question lie about hurting her? In Keldava’s experience lies were just for small things, the only person she had encountered that meant her harm had been fairly straight up about it.

Tensely Keldava waited for the cat to respond, her eyes locked on its faint form and body tense, ready to run as best she could in Optime. Of course if the cat actually tried to attack her she would probably trip and fall before getting away but she sure wasn’t going to just stand there and let it kill her.

As Ovi noticed the fear in her more and more, and the way she rhetorically stated that he could talk, Ovidiu began to relax a little more. She was so young and his appearance was so strange to her that he doubted she would attack him as long as he kept calm. And so, he relaxed his stance a little bit and sat up from his crouching position to a more natural sitting one. She asked him if he was going to hurt her and he slowly shook him head, I won’t hurt you if you don’t hurt me. And his slate eyes looked down at the daggers once more.

She was bleeding though, not too badly, but enough for him to see the dark red stain her brown thigh; he took a step forward, Do you need help? I could clean that for you. It was an odd suggestion, seeing as that she was scared of him, but he knew the miracles his rough tongue could do to a small cut. Once he was closer to her though, the scent he had recognized before was even stronger, You know, you smell like a girl I met, named Dalgina. He said with a small smile, remembering the beautiful girl that he had just met the other day. He would never admit it but he had dreamed about her the other night, dreamed that he could stand on two legs like them and that she had found him beautiful. Ovi felt his fact heat up so he pushed these thoughts to the side.

Keldava stared at the strange cat as it stepped out of the bush slightly, her fear changed to a sense of amazement at he moved into better view. At this distance she couldn’t quite see the unhealthy thinness of the cat but she could see the sleek, oddly patterned fur and the strength built into the body, and the hint of fangs longer then even her own impressive Secui teeth when he spoke. While his words had reassured her his fearsome appearance left a hint of doubt and caution in her outlook

Keldava gazed cautiously at the odd cat before nodding, shuffling around to present her leg to him, ”Yes please.” she answered quietly; Mahnaya had cleaned her wounds like that and it seemed to help and as highly as Keldava thought of Mahnaya she was well aware that there was no magic in her tongue. When he mentioned ‘Gina Keldava brightened; surely if this cat had met her sister then he would be nice; ‘Gina hadn’t been upset by anything recently that Keldava had heard about and with as close as she was to her sister she would surely have heard. She was so busy thinking over her reasoning that she didn’t notice the odd look on the cats face

”’Gina’s my sister.” she stated proudly, much happier around the cat now. Thinking of him Keldava realised that she didn’t actually know what he was aside from some sort of cat, and there were different types of canine like wolf and dog, Mahnaya had told her that once.. ”What are you?” she asked curiously, pushing herself up into a sitting position. Her ears twitched with embarrassment as she suddenly realised how rude that had sounded when she didn’t even know the cats name and she lowered her ears in apology, quickly adding, ”Umm, do you have a name? I’m Keldava”

What he had expected became reality, and she even turned her wound to him so he could clean it. He moved towards her slowly still, trying to keep the calm demeanor he had adopted. The mood was beginning to lighten but he still didn’t want to frighten her, but her face lighted up at the mention of Dalgina. She confirmed that she was indeed her sister, and called her ‘Gina affectionately. He smiled, She is very nice, I met her yesterday. He then set upon cleaning her wound.

It was an easy task, and only after a few licks the blood was replaced by the wetness of his mouth, the wound cleaned. Ovi could feel the girl’s eyes burning into him, and she asked what he was. He looked up from his task briefly, and smiled softly at the look of embarrassment on her face when she gave him her name, Keldava.

The wound was fine now, not even bleeding any more, so he stopped and sat down in front of her, My name is Ovidiu, but you can call me Ovi. And I’m a tiger, I’m not from around here. But he made sure not to let on exactly where he was from; he himself did not have very many memories of Russia anyway. Suddenly, the smell of the dear wafted past him once more, and his stomach growled audibly, much to his dismay.

Keldava is in Lupus

Keldava winced when she felt the rough tongue running over her wound. To distract herself from the twinge of pain she focused on the weird cat’s head, quickly becoming entranced by the glossy fur. Without realising what she was doing Keldava reached a hand out to feel the cat’s ears, running her fingers along the soft fur a few times before she realised what she was doing and pulled her hand back, feeling more and more awkward as things carried on; first she had fallen over and injured herself, then freaked out at the very sight of somebody friendly and now she was acting like a newborn entranced by a shiny object!

The cat pulled his head away and Keldava glanced down at the wound. It hadn’t been a big one to start with and with a good licking it had stopped bleeding, felt a lot better as well. She beat her tail against the ground a few times, smiling at the cat, ”That feels better thank you.” she said, eyes widening when the cat introduced himself as Ovidiu, saying that he was something called a tiger. Instantly Keldava was interested; explroign new places was one of her favourite things so meeting a creature from a far away place was practically heaven for her. She broke out into a series of rapid fire questions, ”Where are you from? How far away is it? What’s it like there? Are there wolves there?” Keldava’s voice was happy and excited, interspersed with yips.

Keldava took a break from her rapid fire questioning to take a breath and then something caught her eye, causing her ears to drop and a quiet whine to come from her mouth as she asked quietly, ”Are you supposed to be that thin?” All along Ovidiu’s side Keldava could clearly see his ribs through his fur now he was up close. In a wolf it would be a sign of extreme malnourishment but she wasn’t sure with a tiger.

Keldava’s question was answered a moment later when the clearily recognisable sound of a stomach rumbling came from Ovidiu. Keldava whined and bent down to lick his ear before she suddenly perked up, remembering what she had just been doing before she met Ovidiu, ”You can have my deer if you want!” she said happily, tail wagging once more, ”I already ate enough and Mahnaya is a good hunter so nobody else really needs it!” Keldava woofed happily and licked Ovidiu’s ear again, happy that she could help him.

The girl smiled and thanked him for heloing her wound and he couldn’t help but smile back, his stomach pains disappearing for a just a moment. Ovidiu had always had a soft spot for young Luperci girls, not because he was a pervert or any such thing, but because they above anyone else had always been so kind to him. When he had lived with his family, the father and mother had seemingly ignored him, but the two daughters doted over him like nothing else; he had been very lucky to have them when he had still been owned.

But now he was free, and it was much harder than he had anticipated; not only was he running for his life from the trader man who wanted him dead, but he could barely keep himself fed. He suddenly had a much greater appreciation for those Luperci who could take care of themselves; it was a difficult thing to do.

Keldava began shooting a myriad of questions at him, but he didn’t mind; he really just liked her company, I’m originally from a place called Russia, it’s across the sea so very, very far away. I don’t really remember much about it, but I remember it was very cold, and there was a lot of snow. And yes, there are lots of wolves and dogs and other Luperci there. His tail was swishing behind him in rhythm, happy that he was telling her all these things, it made him remember good times. But then she asked if he was supposed to be this thin and he dropped his head a little, No… I don’t think so… He said vaguely, embarrassed.

The girl than graciously offered the deer to him, saying she had had enough to eat of it, something he believed due to the blood staining her maw. He was about to refuse however, when he playfully licked at his ear; Ovi would have blushed if he could, Thanks… I’ll have some of it. He moved over to the kill and dug in like he had never eaten before in his life.
