The male walked though the lands, he wanted to get out for the night clear his head, get back in touch with everything that was around him, that he had been ignoring for way to long. A black bag carried a few things that he though would be helpful in this overnight trip. There was his bow, with a few arrows, if he needed more he would whittled some out of some, but if was only feeding him-self then there was not a need for him to craft more arrows for his hunting. The male had the bow slung across his shoulder, as he faced the sun, he sighed softly. It was still high in the sky, but he knew once he got far into the lands, and had his camp set up it would be time to turn in for the night, and come morning with any luck he would hunt.

The male moved though the lands, fining a nice open spot the male gingerly put down his pack as he walked over to the tree, oh such a sweet smell these lovely trees gave off. The male traced there scars that had been left in them, by humans and by wolves. The male walked back to the sugar house, finding the correct tools the male went back over to the trees, searching for one of the less scared ones. The male used the drill to make a hole into the tree, following that by pushing the tap into the tree, the male smacked it a few times with the ball of his hand, he snarled though the pain, as he hanged the bucket from the tap, covering it up with some sticks and leaves, he would have the maple sap and boil it to make a syrup and would have the meat. Lucifer mouth watered, thinking of the next day's meal.

The male sat down on the step of the house as he rested his back on the frame of the door, as he looked up, seeing the suns shimmer in the evening sky, breathing the male rolled his head back as he looked up..up into nothing but the early night sky.

hah, she all like Oh no you didnt son!

Another night and she had once again run from home. Though it was not like anyone was tucking her into bed or checking up on her, she still did feel a certain rush leaving the boarder after dark. It was as if she defied the rules she had placed upon herself, and also put her within a paws reach of all the dangers she feared.

But what harm could come to her on such a peaceful night, with all the birds deep in sleep and the sun in bed. She had left her den and the territories boarders on four paws, traveling light and swift off to the north again in search of nothing in particular. A soon as she hit the forest she slowed, taking in the smells of new trees until her hands wanted to touch their skin.

She couldn’t help it; her connection to nature was rooted in her blood, as it was her fathers, and his father before him. She could name all the towers she passed, and most of the undergrowth as well. It was a piece of her that had never fallen away even after the years for travel and wandering had stripped her of most of her identity.

Black nose to the wind he came to her on the night’s breeze, tickling her nostrils and making her ears twitch to hear him. Curious as always she stalked and followed quietly until he was in view. But his actions confused and then stung her. He pounded against the ageless tree, holding no apparent rage or anger. Obviously the maple had done nothing to him, for trees rarely posses the energy, so why beat it?

Blue eyes watched still until he returned to the small structure Anu never noticed was there. Anger was an emotion that she hardly felt, but she was sure it was what boiled in her gut. Speechless till now she composed her small frame and walked into the open and looked him in the eye.

“What did it ever do to you?” she asked sternly, already sure of the truth but wondering what he would make of the question. Her size was far less then formidable, but her fury, though not fully unleashed, was not something to be underestimated

Lucifer. always worried that some one is going to try to kill him

He jumped his back coming up off the rail of the door, his head rocked back knocking the base of his head against the frame. With snarl the male hand quickly reach back there, searching for a knot, or even worst blood. With a groan he sat back up, looking to see who was to blame, the male rubbed his head, looking at her. He was rather confused. What did she mean by her statement? They? Who was they? The male looked at her like she had something hanging down off her nose. The male didn't hurt any one again did he? He would have believed her if she told him that Deuce or one of the boys had done something again.

"Whoa...Lady what are you talking about?"

Lucifer wasn't sure what to do or say next, The black male braced him-self on the ground, as he pushed up, standing up. looking at her. She looked like she wasn't to happy to see him, again the male was ever so lost as to why. His paws grabbed the sac upon his back as he fumbled around trying to get his arrows. Finding them in his pack, the male flicked his wrist over his head, taking the bow off from around his neck and shoulder, he loaded his bow, as he wasn't sure if she was going to start trying to fight with him or not.

So sorry for the delay!

More weapons, more fighting and more danger. Though Anu was being the threatening one she still had no weapon and was not very threatening over all. But she was angry, and she guessed that she faced told him so. She grew even more angry that he called her a lady, and not in that nice polite way but as if she was an old hag.

How could he not know? Anu straitened out her back, looking at the thing he held in his hands, wondering if he would really use it on her. Why was everyone carrying around here? The questions built in her brain, until she couldn’t stand it.

She took a few steps towards the tree and brushed the dead foliage from the bucket, examining the contraption that he had placed on the tree. It looked as if he was trying to pierce the core of its trunk. She turned to face him again, “Why are you doing this?” she asked pointing to the bucket. Her voice was much more calm and controlled.

He could kill her, with the weapon in his hands, but she didn’t believe he would. He looked as frightened, but determined as she was.

The male clutched the bow holding it, he watched her, she wasn't moving towards him, this lady her-self wasn't going at him, like she was going to attack him. He raised a brow looking at her, as he lowered his bow towards the ground, slowly letting the string come back to it's natural state. The male really didn't understand why she had gotten so upset with him over what? Lucifer Sawtooth watched her move, over to the tree, she walked messing around with the tapping material that he had set up. The male put the arrow back and holding the bow with in one had the male rubbed his head, looking at her like he was at all lost of what to sway.

"For food. This here is a Maple tree, I collect the sap boil it, and it make a rather rich, rather tasty syrup."

The male would be willing to share, but he was not all that sure that she even cared be hide his reasoning for his action. Was she one of them hippy wolves, like the human type that he had seen in the books but only she was a wolf.

Anu wuvs twees

When did the world get so complicated? Anu did not understand when wolves started to cook their meals and eat other things other then raw meats. But there were so many things that Anu was doing herself that were far from natural. Who was she to say what wolves could do and what was to be named ‘unnatural’? An of course there was something to be said for a wolf that claimed trees as allies and felt such a fondness for the seemingly lifeless creatures.

He still held the bow, to her despise. She hated the thought of him using a curved piece of wood and a small blade to kill her and protect himself. As if she was much of a threat. Her eyes were lese enraged, the blue hue less bright but still held an edge of weariness.”Will it hurt him?” Anu looked from the black wolf to the large tree, a paw resting on the rough skin. In the end she could forget his obvious need for the weapon, and his odd tastes. What mattered was this ancient life that he had no respect for.

Word Count- 323

It's a thief in the night

The male was lost to say to this female, not only was she mad that he was messing with the tree, but now...now it's a him and she was worried if it was hurting it? It was a tree, it was a object that couldn't feel any thing. The male slung the bow over his shoulders as he looked at her like she had lost any last bit of sanity that she had left. If there really was any there to lose. How was Lucifer to know that some one was going to get so upset over something really so small, his father was a cook, and wanted nothing but for every one to learn how to enjoy a nice well cooked and seasoned meal and laugh and tell story's, Noah Sawtooh, the father of Lucifer and Charm Sawtooh was the best person to have a peacekeeper co-rank. He had learned that though food every one is brought together. The male sighed, rubbing his head again.

"Hurt...I didn't think about that, I would assume not. I picked out a tree that had been tapped before, so if it could feel any thing, it would be use to it. Kinda like how a milk cow wants to be milked."

The black male smiled patting the tree as he leaned onto it, he was his father's son right? The black male pushed off the tree as he walked over to the house tossing his bow inside the house, walking back over to the gray lady.

"How about we go for a hunt, the old fashion way. We come back I'll cook us up a meal and I'll make us up some syrup, and we dine and after that, I'll play my guitar. How that sound to you?"

He still was trying to become what his father had wanted him to be, and every so often a faint hint of the old man would shimmer though the youth.

She had met so many wolves that had disconnected from nature. Living as if they were born from something greater then the earth itself. They wore clothing and preferred walking along the broken pavement, carried weapons and lived under roofs. Anu enjoyed their company as much as any other, as odd as she thought it was, but would not stand aside and let any wolf hurt something her held so dear.

Looking at the tree again, she watched the tap as he explained it. To her eyes it looked as if it only penetrated the bark for no real reason. It really didn’t much sense to her, but she would take his word, for now at least. The moment she noticed that the large tree might be wilting she would make a move to remove the tap, even if he didn’t agree with her concern.

Looking back at his dark face she gave him a forced grin. She couldn’t be angry long and would rather try to believe his theory then argue with him. Taking a step away from the tree she realized that she was indeed hungry. Though still weary of the bow as well as his feelings towards trees in general, she was eager to run her resentment off.

“If you promise it won’t be hurt.” Pausing she gave him a real smile, “I guess I can let you cook me dinner.” She took off into the forest, her nose searching for any prey that might be foraging.

Oh how easy it would be just for him to tip his head back and laugh, she was so worried about everything that was connected to nature. That she was blind to the fact that they were all connected, the tree wouldn't be there if not for shade for them, and if they are able to make a meal out of something they should, they need to eat in order to live, but he didn't laugh at her. He didn't even have a twitch of a smile upon his face. He would respect her feelings, and he would show the lady a nice evening and he would be that gentlemen that his father had wanted him to be.

"No we will make the death to them quick and painless. I will make sure of it.”

The male grunted as he slowly started to shift down. He was going hunt with the lady the old fashion way, as he promised. He wanted the lady to know that he was a male of his word.

He laughed at her, and her beliefs. It made her face grow hot, and the insides of her ears turned bright, her form of blushing. He moved quickly, shifting to his smaller and four legged form, there was a chance that he hadn’t noticed her reaction. There was little time to think it over, unless she wanted to loose him in the crowded wood.

Following his lead Anu started into the forest, shifting as she moved. Closer to the ground she picked up her speed, finding the black male quickly and with no trouble. She stretched her legs, covering as much ground as her body would allow. The night’s scent washed over her, becoming fully aware of all the lived among her friendly trees.

He may be able to draw sap from a tree and cook tasty meals, but she was sure that she could out run him. Her body was light, but her muscle lean and strong. They propelled her over the ground with no effort, letting her glide through the air. Prey was plentiful, and her keen nose took little time to find it. They moved together, as their instincts dictated. It was natural for them to hunt side by side, even though they had just met.

Without words they moved, side by side in there primal frame and mind set. The male felt her keep at his side from the ground under him, knowing she was at his side hunting he didn’t bother to slow down or anything. He would keep his pace. His eyes scanned the lands searching for any living thing that could be in the landscape, and looking for tracks or droppings. He stopped sniffing a tail of droppings, figuring out the freshness and animal it might have come from, it was rabbit and lucky for them it was fresh. He looked over at her with a nod, and made a head shake towards the brush as he slunk down and stock to the brush, watching her, making sure she wasn’t going to get hurt. He would wait on her before he attacked the rabbit’s home. Though if they happened to get at least three rabbits that would be great.

love hunting threads!

Air whipped in and out of her lungs, so fast and hard that it should have hurt. But conditioning and the constant need to feed herself made moving with such speed and force as easy as standing still. In time she would tired, but it they would have caught dinner by that point. She watched intensely as he slowed to smell the marks of their prey and without a word they game plan was complete.

She left him, pulling ahead and taking the rear of the burrow. The small creatures will have made an additional exit, and if they saw the head of a large black wolf in the entrance, they will need to use the emergency exit. Even with small prey her adrenaline was up, and her excitement grew by the second. Lowering herself in the undergrowth she waited, ears searching for his movement.

She was ready he seen it in her body, he was able to see it in her eyes. The male barked and then stuck his snout into the hole, snorting and making any nose that he could to drive the rabbit’s out. He could taste them in his mouth, oh the ways they could have the rabbits was a wonderful idea. The hunt thrilled him, fueled him and made him live. This was his game and for once he wasn’t afraid to show it.
He pulled his head out, as he stepped back as he flicked his paws over the hole digging into it. Trying to make it bigger for him to slide into. Though they where quicker, and smarter then to let him dig a hole into it’s home. A rabbit darted it, he gave a nod to the lady, lady first when it came to the fresh kills. Then there was a second one, the male seen it was with out a child, then the black male took off after it, running be hide it, jumping and turning when the rabbit made the path shift.

The seconds dragged, as most moments of anticipation did, and after the third or fourth second she wondered if he would ever pounce. But the sounds came, and then the time flew so quickly she was sure she had missed her opportunity. It came though, as the brown creatures sprung from their den, hair and dirt clouding the air.

The rest were movement that her body made before her mind could truly keep up and register. She chased after the female, smaller but jetting off with deadly speed. It was easy to keep up, using the element of surprise to shorten the distance between them, and then destroy it all together. A paw lashed out ahead, taking out one of her back legs, hoping to cause her to falter. Anu won the game, and watched as the hare fell to her side, and before it was able to regain its balance she held it against the ground with her body. Sinking thin teeth into the delicate skin and lean flesh she ended the rabbits life in an instant.

Leaving the dead beast she caught a glimpse of running fur in her peripheral, and as if she had never paused she began the chase again. It wouldn’t be easy to catch this one, with its head start, but she wasn’t about to let it get away.

Nipping at the side of the rabbit the dark male knew it would stop and try to nip at him soon enough. The hunter was willing to wait, and nip at the rabbit till it couldn’t take any more, then he saw it, there was one running that she hadn’t got on top of at the start. He lunged at the rabbit pulled it towards him, as he quickly shifted his paws to go opposite’s way, he heard the snap and it twitched a bit but the male knew it was dead and gone. He left it where it passed at as he spun around lowering his head down and pushing to catch up with her, he couldn’t very well leave a prize like one go.
This would be the first time the male had worked one on one with some one that wasn’t in his pack, on the hunt. He had taken Jazper out once but that was for teaching reasons. He didn’t really even hunt then; he was there in case something happened. This was the real deal, he pushed digging in trying to corner the rabbit off and make it shift its path of running towards her. The male came within a few feet of the kill, as he smacked his blood soaked lips. Lunging at the rabbit, it eyes saw what was coming, they where wide in fear as it spun around running right towards the grey lady, the male smiled with a nod, yes things were going as he had hoped. He didn’t stop running though, he pushed to keep up with the rabbit as it ran towards the lady, he would jump to the left or right if the rabbit made him, but he was hoping it would be stupid and fall right into her path.

Heart pounding, Anu raced after the hare. It was large and Anu could see each muscle the worked beneath its thin and delicate skin. Seeing past the fur she watched her prize eagerly, paws moving even faster and harder with the anticipation. Even with the extra effort the large rabbit was gaining speed and widening the distance between them.

Gritting her teeth she kept her effort up, and pushed herself once again. It twisted their path consistently, weaving around each tree and dragging the small wolf under ever brush. The few yards they covered felt like miles, and if it hadn’t been for the dark coated male she would have lost the prize she sought.

Blue eyes broke from the brown rabbit to catch him ahead, rushing at the hare’s side. The tactic worked just as well as the previous, pushing her right to Anu. Paws thumping against the ground she swung to pick the rabbit up by the back of the neck. It bucked and fought as she tried to stop herself.

Tired but strong hind limbs kicked the side of her head and neck as she fought to halt her pace and snap it’s neck. With all her concentration on the hare, and her clumsy footing she was unable to see that her path was strait for the other wolf.

He could see where she was heading and it wasn’t towards the rabbit, she was watching the rabbit, while the trained male often let his eyes jolt up to look at her then back down to the rabbit. He grunted knowing he would take too much of the precious energy to change paths, as soon as he needed, they were on a path to intertwine and quickly. He barked, hoping to jolt the rabbit to where it would freeze, and would get Anu to see where she was going, or at least get her to hear he was close. The black male snarled as he pushed with his back legs, making a doge to pin the rabbit. Hunting in his four legged ways was much harder. Oh how he wish he could just shift and pull out the arrow and bow that he had left back at the house, by now he could have had all three rabbits and they could have been back to the house sitting by the fire enjoying the meal. He would keep to his word if it killed him.

so sorry!

She tumbled, head over heel. The rabbit was still in her mouth, her jaw clenched and unwilling to give up. What she couldn’t help was the direction that she fell. Just missing the black wolf Anu rolled passed him and right into one of her beloved trees.

Her legs took most of the blow, making her bounce off the large trunk and roots. Once she stopped moving, Anu let the dead hare go and lay on the ground, waiting for it to hop off. It lay still, unmoving, not even its chest to notion breath.

Slowly she strained to her paws, “I got it.” Her voice was ragged and breathless.
