Ugh Wraith, being all uppity about having a friend. :l

He complied with her request quickly enough and soon, they were both heading out to find some food. Wraith wasn't sure if she was allowed to hunt with others not from her clan (since wasn't the point of being in a clan to come together to hunt and for protection?) but she didn't think it would be too terrible if they went out and found a hare, a mole, or maybe a woodchuck. As long as it wasn't a big kill, it didn't feel like she was cheating: more like forging a bond with a potential source--even if he was kind of a weirdo. Wraith didn't want to think of him as a potential friend, since what if he turned out to be even stranger? Plus, the whole idea of liking someone from Anathema, the pack to whence her mother defected, seemed so foreign. She didn't want to think about it.

They ascended the mountain and followed a number of small animals. Eventually, Mido put his stick down and pulled out two sharp knives. Wraith immediately blanched. She hadn't realized he had real weapons!

"I usually hunt on four legs. What if you hit me with one of those?" she asked, pointing her paw at the little knives.
WC::338 OOC::Man she's picky eh?
The man had casually and subconsciously slipped a hand into the pocket that held his throwing knives and pulled a couple out. He was really ready to pick off one of the rabbits when Wraith’s words stopped him right in his tracks. His eyes narrowed, till only the blue in them stood out. The look of irritation on his face was all too apparent and couldn’t possibly be misinterpreted. Really? Women can be impossible at times! He had no intention of hitting her with a knife, not purposefully or accidentally. His aim with projectiles was lethally accurate; since he’d chosen to be a warrior he had lots of experience with them. Wraith didn’t know that and the mutt wasn’t going out of his way explain that she needn’t worry. Mido’s mind ran off into the past, remembering something his mother once told him. Celile and all of his directly related family hadn’t been a part of his life for a little over a year now, ever since he traveled to this region. The things she had taught him, some more important than others still held true to this day.

The multicolored mix let out a sighed and rolled his eyes. Okay then. He put the light weight blades back into the pack compartment from which they came. Taking off the pack, he placed it next to the bo-staff. Before changing into lupus form to accommodate the coyote, he remembered to take off his pants. The transformation took a couple minutes, the loss of height from the shift put him right on her level. When in Rome, right ma? The warrior cocked his head to the side, unintentionally giving her the husky glare. Is this better? He asked with honesty. Now that he couldn’t even use any of his weapons he wondered if she might be inclined to be a little more trustful, he didn’t count on it though. He paused to take care of a really bad itch behind his ear. Don’t know about you, but I’m still hungry.

Hahaha yes. :> She's a little goth fairy princess. Also, feel free to have Mido spot the hare again Big Grin
Even though Mido didn't seem too pleased about her request, he ended up conceding. It didn't strike her as odd since that was what he was supposed to do. If they hunted in two totally different ways, it wouldn't work out at all. They had to work together if they wanted to score more than one puny hare. Besides, she was hoping that they'd find something better to eat, but she doubted it, as the mountain was getting steeper and the only animals that lived here in great numbers were the hares. So, when Mido shot her an annoyed look full of all sorts of other emotions, she shrugged in response. She was right and he was wrong. That was just how the world worked.

He put his knives away and then took off his leaves. She watched as he peeled them off and then set them down. Aha! He did have fur! Therefore they were totally unnecessary. He really was a weirdo. She watched him unabashedly as he shifted into his lupus form, justifying it in her mind as 'watching out for him.' After all, if he was shifting, she was the one who would have to defend him.

Once he was done, he gave her another one of his looks. Wraith smirked.

"Yes!" she replied, "much better. You'd be less hungry if you'd just taken off your leaves and shifted, but whatever, weirdo," she replied. Her grin was wicked now, full of mirth and teasing. She trotted off to find the hare that had escaped while he had been shifting. She perked up her ears and tested the wind, following it away from Mido and his weapons and down the mountain.
WC::348 OOC:: Yeehaw!
Mido’s rump was situated on the ground, the claws of his front paws dug into the earth’s surface. The male was a little bit top heavy in this form due to his body’s genetics. Wraith seemed easier going since his shift. She made a crack about his ‘”leaves” and being hungry, displaying a playful grin before following the trail of a rabbit. The coyote woman made her way down the slope after her prey. He opted to take a route that was elevated from the rest of the area. He could clearly see her and her target through the trees as he moved. His attention was diverted from the female when he noticed the unusual movement of several hares. From what he could see they were loitering around a hole into their residence.

He’d gotten lucky and located their den. Low to the ground he slinked to a downed tree. Putting himself in position he got ready to chase them down. He focused hard enough that he could probably here a drop of water. The male’s eyes were dilated, giving him a very crazy questionable appearance. Unable to wait any longer he scrambled over the wood and after the group of critters. They noticed him and darted for their place of safety. Three of them made it all the way into the hole. The last of the critters wasn’t so fortunate, the warriors head slipped into the opening, he caught it by the leg. The hare tried to escape as it was dragged into the open, fear flooding its eyes. Mido held it down with a massive paw; its efforts were futile as he chomped down on the neck. Shaking it viciously he growled, putting his whole body into it he successfully snapped the neck. Leaving the limp body he went to try and drive out the rest of them. Forcing his head deep into the darkness he barked like a wild blood thirsty beast. Two of the remaining hares abandoned the den out a another hole, the mutt rushed after them in Wraith’s direction. Heads up!
As soon as she moved to leave, she heard Mido begin walking near her, but taking the higher path with fewer dips and bumps. Now, she realized, that was probably a better idea. She supposed it didn’t matter much now as she was already headed in one way. Besides, Mido would be able to more easily chase the hares down to where she was so that she could make the final kill. Even though Mido wasn’t a coyote, he seemed to understand the basics of hunting in pairs. Wraith wasn’t sure if coyotes tended to hunt in smaller groups, but previously, she’d hunted with three others and once, one other.

Wraith was quiet now, focused and waiting for the prey that would soon come bounding her way. She crouched down low and perked up her ears, waiting for Mido’s signal. He too was quiet until there was a flurry of movement and a sharp crack. It sounded like Mido had scored his kill. She remained still and after a few seconds, she heard Mido bark, this time much louder than the previous sounds. He shouted at her and she saw movement as the hares tried to escape from him. One darted close and she waited until it was near. She pushed off to chase it, but ended up tripping over another hare that darted in front of her at the last second. She dug in her claws and the hare squealed as she pulled on its ear. She backed up as quickly as she could, but that short movement was enough for it to pull away. It was, however, injured, so she only had to take two longs bounds before she was able to snap it up in her jaws. It struggled for a few more seconds until she bit down on it, breaking its spine.

“I goff iff!” she shouted, her mouth full of hare. She trotted back up the slope to meet Mido so that they could munch on their snacks.
He’d succeeded in scaring the hares out of hiding and chased them in Wraith’s direction. The male fell back after yelling for her; the woman was two steps ahead of him, ready and waiting for her unsuspecting prey. One of the critters was lucky to get away from her while it could. The one she tripped over not so much. It cried in protest as the coyote girl had her way with it. She silenced it with a finalizing clamp down of her jaws. She made a muffled declaration before coming back up the incline to where he was. Hahahaha, whut? He put a paw up to his ear as if he struggled to understand. The Marbas caught what she said, he just felt like playing with her. I couldn’t hear you over that mouthful of hare.

He went back to pick up his prize he’d left behind. With it in his mouth he pranced over to Wraith and dropped it to the ground before getting comfortable. Mido glanced at the woman momentarily. Yay, dig in! Is this really the same girl from earlier? You wouldn’t think so. Somehow she came off as different then before; like he’d pegged her wrong and got a false impression. Chasing little critters with her was exciting and fun. This woman from Inferni was beginning to seem like the kind of gal he could really get along with.

Would you be okay to close this with your reply? :o
Wraith was too busy chewing on a bone to reply to Mido, so she just rolled her eyes in a sufficiently goodhearted manner. She bit down harder on the bone until she heard a satisfying crack, alerting her that she'd broken the bone in two. She dropped the hare on the ground in front of her and settled down to chew on the bone and suck the marrow out. She knew that she was supposed to eat the good stuff first, but she couldn't help it--she had always liked sucking out the marrow first.

Once she'd finished slurping out the innards, she made quick work eating the rabbit. When Mido added another comment, she grinned and continued her work. She spared no part and began by digging out the best organs from the rabbit. Then, she made quick work of what was left. By the time she'd finished, her fur, which was normally a reddish-brown colour, was dyed with the blood. She felt satisfied that she'd gotten a snack out of this trip in addition to some information about Anathema. She would have to come back another time and see what Mido would tell her.

"I've gotta get back, but I guess I'll see you around?" she suggested.
OOC:: Yeah, PP of watching her leave if that's okay.
Already she way ahead of him, Wraith had the right idea. She quickly went to work on the hare in her own personally methodical way. To busy with her meal she rolled her eyes, not bothering to comment back. He really didn’t mind though, he was starving and needed to fill the whole he called his stomach. The mutt had an interesting way of going about eating his food. Biting down just right he was able to rip off one of the back legs. Settling down with it between his paws he thoroughly cleaned it, getting every drop of meat he could before moving to the other. Front legs had almost no meat, so he left them alone.

The huskadore came to the realization that he was a very slow eater when Wraith spoke up. He was just getting to his favorite part which was the heart, but she needed to get back. Pulling his face out of the carcass he looked at her with a blood smeared face. Awe, why so soon? Though they could still see, it was practically dark. At her question his tail quickly brushed the ground behind him. Okay, yeah! She knew where she could find him. If he wasn’t in Anathema he would probably be lurking around nearby neutral territories, generally he didn’t stray too far. As soon as he said it the coyote woman had got up and trotted away. Reflecting on the day he smiled broadly, he got to meet someone; even if they were a little rough at first glance. He hoped to see her again someday.
