Settlin' In

Hiya! ^^ Hope you don't mind me making this thread also about Kenna claiming a house for herself. Smile I thought it'd be good to hit two birds with one stone in this case. I'll PM you which house later on in this thread.

So far things had been fairly simple and quiet for the cowgirl. Kenna had spent the first couple nights alone in the forests of Cercatori, sleeping on the ground in her Lupus form curled against Dust's side. She had yet to actually claim any real place of her own in the pack lands. She was still unused to the more "civilized" aspects of being part of a pack. But now, enough time had passed and the Collie girl figured it was about time she head into the town (Thornbury she'd heard rumors of being its name) and see what kind of dwellings were there and who else called the little square home.

Leading Dust by his halter, Kenna Foxleigh made her way casually into the little merchant square, her ears pricked and swiveling, eyes taking in every new sight, nose quivering at the new smells. Sure she was rather nervous, but she knew here she was at least safe, she was part of this pack now and she'd certainly get used to that fact in time. The first thing she noticed (besides the actual merchants) was the large barn rising up among the smallish wood and stone dwellings along the perimeter. A soft smile graced the hybrid's maw as she inhaled the familiar barn yard scent of livestock. Now this felt like home. Carefully meandering her way around the little merchant carts and their vendors (her pack mates) but still tipping her hat in greeting to anyone who spoke to her, she headed for the stables. Dust even seemed excited at the idea of being in a sheltered building after being out in the open for so long. He gave a soft whinny and started to pull on his lead rope, wanting Kenna to move faster. Chuckling, Kenna picked up her pace into a brisk walk beside her mount, head turning this way and that taking in the empty houses, looking for one that caught her eye. There was a smaller wooden place nearby the stables that needed a little fixing up, but seemed to speak to the collie mix. She slowed her pace to take in the building but Dust had other ideas and tugged her along towards the barn.

Giving the stallion a look she then rolled her eyes as he eagerly went for the stables. Reining him in she patted his shoulder. "Easy boy, don't get too worked up now. Behave yourself and we can have a look around alright?" She smiled, tail flicking contently. Bobbing his head, Dust now walked calmly beside his partner and into the shade of the barn. As she paused in the barn's doorway, Kenna picked up the only truly familiar scent she'd come to know since her accepted into the pack. Skye. The alphess. Curious and eager to explore outside the barn and maybe meet up with her leader, the young woman lead Dust into a vacant stall where a bale of hay lay ready for him to eat and once making sure he was secure, she set off to see if she could find the pale woman who had so kindly allowed her to be a part of her "family." She followed the leader's scent to another house just back beside the stables. Pausing in the street just outside, she thought a moment before gently calling out for the Capitana, removing her hat as she did. "Miss Skye? It's me, Kenna. Are ya in?" She slowly approached the front door to the dwelling, uncertain to if the wolfess was even home. She'd had little experience with actual living quarters and wasn't sure whether to knock on the door or wait patiently outside. Biting her lip, Kenna looked around her anxiously. Perhaps she should come back another time. After all...there was that other house she wanted to look at for herself... But even so, she waited patiently, listening to the sounds of the animals in the barn nearby and trying to take comfort in the familiarity of their musky scents.

Smile

Although most outside the pack knew Skye as a regal woman, one who was proud and showed it through her various necklaces and bracelets and the posture that showed what she was, others in d'Arte knew that she was not just a leader, but a worker as well. Now she bore no clothing save for her belt with her dagger, and her knees were covered in dirt. She carefully picked at the weeds surrounding her beloved plants, taking care to discern between the killers and the newly grown bushes.

The garden did well during the winter, and it always grew during the spring - now that the months were longer and warmer, she did not need to put so much effort into keeping them warm as she did taking care of invasions within. She had just yanked out another weed from the patch of dirt when she heard someone tentatively calling her name - from the sounds of it, they were just at the mouth of Thornbury, near her house. Not one to keep her packmates waiting, she stood from her position in the dirt, dusted off her knees some (not that that helped the dirt stains) and walked into the town.

She saw Kenna there, along with her horse. Approaching her, Skye put on a warm smile for their newest member. "Hello, Kenna," she said amiably. "How are you doing today?"
