There were pups in the pack. Alex had heard about it, and decided that the new mother would probably be bored. She wouldn't be able to go very far after all, not with the pups constantly needing her attention. It was up to him and other members of the pack to keep her entertained. As Alaki wasn't always up for Alex's games, he decided to seek out Ayasha and propose to her that they spend the time playing cards.
The deck was grasped in his hand as he headed down, whistling cheerfully as he went. He had a full deck, something that had taken time to get. Card decks from homes were usually incomplete, and he hadn't realized that they came in flimsy little boxes in stores. His set had been won in a gamble.
