Make a wish when your childhood dies.

So close. He was so close to perfecting this weapon. He had learned that it existed by means of a trader, who he promptly ripped off for several bottles of unrefined alcohol so he could try to make the weapon. But, knowing that it existed was far different than knowing how to pull it off, and his attempts thus far had ended in a few unsuccessful tries. First he had tried stuffing dry kindling into the top of the bottle, but when he lit it it just fell into the fluid and extinguished. If he tried to throw it, the kindling would come out of the top and he wasted the bottle and the alcohol. He tried just dropping a spark right into the bottle, but again the fluid was too much and instead of igniting it would just douse the spark. There had to be some way to get this right...

After hours of trying different methods the young wolf grew frustrated, and would have thrown his supplies had they not been fragile and combustible. He was starting to wonder if this could even be done. The stranger had asserted that this weapon had once been a favorite of human militias and home made militant groups, but he was starting to think it was just another lie, or one of the many myths that clouded their knowledge of the human race. In truth, the problem was the fuel and the mixture Scorpius used. The humans had ways of developing and refining oil into gasoline, which was far more potent than the alcohol he was using now.

“Damn it! This is stupid!” he grumbled as he picked up one of the bottles, the fluid inside sloshing around.

For once he was outside of the caverns. For his experiments he had gone to an open place in the Musquodoboit Valley so he would not be bothered by any of his pack, or hurt them should his weapon finally proved viable.

His agitation was palpable as he soaked a cloth with the alcohol, and spilling it on the ground and his hands in the meantime. This would never work, why would a soaked cloth light? Still, he was feeling desperate, so he stuffed the cloth into the mouth of the bottle, shoving it all the way down so it would reach what was left of the alcohol in the bottom, and grabbed his flint and steel. Kneeling over the bottle, he struck the stone and metal together, creating the familiar spark.

To his surprise, the sopping cloth lit instantly, flaring up. The flame thrived and ate through the fabric quickly. He marveled at it for just a second before the fire burned down into the nearly empty bottle. What he wasn't counting on was the alcohol fumes inside the bottle igniting, causing the fluid to light as well and overloading the glass bottle with pressure. He didn't even hear the sound of the bottle exploding until after the fact. The flames burst around him, glass shards projectiled through the air and dug deep into his flesh, dotting him with fresh wounds.

“Ahh!” he cried out as he was thrown back, landing on his back in the dirt. He could smell singed hair, he could smell smoke, he could feel the stinging of the glass that had burrowed deep into his body... and then he looked at his hands. Only seconds had passed, but it felt like his hands had been burning for hours. He flipped over and beat them on the ground, furiously turning them over and over but the flame would not be stamped out like usual. The alcohol he had spilled on them had lit and would not be doused as easily as a normal flame.

Panicking, he thrust his hands into the grass and dropped his body onto them, yowling in pain as he did so. Crushing his burning hands was excruciating, but he knew the only way to kill the fire was to deprive it of air. He singed the fur on his belly but at least he did not burn himself, and when he finally rolled over onto his back the fire was out.

He lay there for a moment while his heart calmed down, holding his hands in close and panting. He could smell the all too familiar, acrid scent of burning flesh. After a moment, he sat up to survey the damage to the area, and saw that a small fire burned where the bottle had been, but as the fuel was used up the fire died out.

“Oh, god,” he muttered as he looked down at his charred hands. He tried to move his fingers but it felt like the already bleeding flesh was ripping open, so he held them still. He leaned forward to get his legs beneath him, and managed to stand on shaky legs, his hands still held close to his stomach. Scorpius knew all too well that if you played with fire you could get burned, but he had grown complacent, thinking he had control of it. Never had he thought about what adding the fuel to the flame could do. How naive he had been.

Help. Help. He needed help. His hands were already blistering, and he had no idea how much glass was in his body. Had it hit anything vital? The pain in his hands was so great that he could not feel the glass. At least it had not hit his face, though a shard had glanced off of his mask dangerously close to his eye – that had been a lucky miss. After standing there stunned for a moment more, he began to walk slowly, in a dazed zig-zag back toward the caverns, letting a pained howl precede him. If there was a healer nearby, he implored them, please come.

Once a man now a beast, an abomination
Looking through the eyes of a mind corrupted by hypocrisy

Panda was in her den, stuck in a deep trance. It was the time of day she normally took out to meditate and to straighten her mind out, and to find things out that she needed to. She traversed through the spirit world this afternoon, her body left to the 'wolves' of the spirit world, except for the fact that it was not only protected by runes, but Venom(who meditated next to her, but did not follow her to the other world) made sure to have a bubble of constant protection around them and the den for that matter, even their daughter, Lillith would be crushed spiritually by the pressure (because she was no longer pure like her parents; nor did she purify herself like her parents would do after committing a 'sin') that Venom was creating in the den. It was a good thing that the child was good enough to be alone, and better yet, she was almost old enough to move out of their den completely, in which Panda knew the girl was to take advantage of that.

Panda was adventuring the deep contours of the 'spirit world' where she eventually found Zera'im. "My sister, what brings you so far out to these forsaken forests?" asked the collie woman as she laid her bi-colored gaze on the monochrome woman. Panda's eyes were pinned on the ghostly form of the woman and a smile was on her face. Zera'im smiled back at the monochrome woman, and the spirit of Panda had the urge to hug the elder, whom was now young. I come to see if Tobias will talk to me. I see that he-- she spoke before a smaller body showed itself and it came beside the young collie woman. It was the form of an osprey, and it landed on the ground beside the collie woman. The osprey was a form that she knew that Tobias did take, and Panda looked to the being. Tobi... How are you? she asked the bird, who telepathically spoke to the woman. He answered the questions she had in her head, and then he touched the monochrome woman with his beak and the only thing to come from his beak was: "You're needed, Panda. You'll always be needed."

She was sent away, with love. Zera'im followed behind but only to the edge of the forest that Panda had been venturing through. She said her farewells to Panda before Panda moved through to the cave entrance to get back to her body. Once she was in the den, she had to wiggle through the defenses that Venom put up (and he did lower the defenses for her when she came back) and she found her way back into her body rather quickly as soon as she got into the shield. She slowly opened her eyes, and Venom broke the circle once her eyes were open completely open. It was then that there was an echo through the caves. It was a howl for her specifically, and her healing abilities. Panda grabbed her bag full of medical supplies and she rushed out of her den.

Venom followed behind her, just in case he was needed, or if she was really in danger. Panda rushed out of the caves, where the howl came from, and she came upon a male who was covered in burns and blood and cuts. Panda looked at him with wide chocolate eyes. Holy fuck, what happened to you? I'm Panda, the Corson. I'm here to help. she spoke to him, letting him know who she was, and that she was here to help.

Make a wish when your childhood dies.

He was near one of the many entrances to the caverns when he looked up and saw the black and white woman and her companion come rushing out. He recognized her from the pack lands, but did not know her very well nor really what her place in the pack was. Luckily, she had heard his cries, and came running to him because she was a healer. How damn lucky that a medic had actually heard his call! He held his hands out before him, and they were bloody, already blistered and swollen and trembling. He was pained, but he had felt this pain before, and he knew what to expect. Though it was his hands, it was not nearly as traumatic and painful as he remembered when his face was seared half off as a puppy.

“Scorpius,” he uttered his name through clenched teeth in a rough introduction, then took a deep breath to steady himself. His eyes clenched shut for a beat before turning back to Panda. He briefly glanced at Venom, noting the man's presence, before looking at the Corson once again. “I was working on... working on a project, a weapon, and it went wrong.” He mostly spoke smoothly... mostly... as he tried to give her the jist of what had happened to him.

“A bottle of alcohol exploded, and I had it on my hands,” he glanced down at his feet to see small russet droplets in the dirt, and then he looked at his body. It could have been the first time he noticed the wounds from the glass shrapnel that stuck into him. Still, that was the least of his worries.

“I've been burned before,” no shit Sherlock, it was literally written all over his face, and even if you couldn't tell because of the skull mask that covered his disfigured countenance, the withered and burned bit of his ear that was left swore testament to that. “I don't know if this is as bad, but... ointment... mother put on ointment...” He was kind of just babbling now. Of course Panda, as a healer, would know about ointment or whatever the best treatment for burns was. He stared at his hands, fingers swelling up and blistering to nearly double their size now. He frowned, and a gloss came over his face. He was shocked, and the reality of the situation was starting to slowly seep away. “Wait... it doesn't feel that bad anymore.”

Word Count → 577 :: Hope you don't mind me pping them going to her den.

He's a stranger to some, and a vision to none
He can never get enough, get enough of the one.

The male started to speak, his name first. Scorpius. Like a scorpion. It was easy to remember and Panda noticed that and stored the name away for later reference. He went on to explain to her that he was working on a weapon and it went wrong. Panda looked at his outstretched hands that were blistering from the heat that was once on them. They were missing fur now, and the skin was smelly and burnt. She examined the burns by looking at them, but not touching, for she knew it would hurt like a bitch for her to touch them at the moment. She turned her head to Venom. Coldest water you can find, and rags. I also need tweezers. she spoke to the giant of a male and he nodded his head and turned around to go towards their den to get their buckets and the tweezers. Scorpius went on to explain that it was a bottle of alcohol that exploded in his hands. Panda looked at the man with a "you're insane" look before she just shook her head and she took out her gauze.

He told her that he was burned before, which she did not know (because she failed to realize that he was covering half of his face because of it) until now, and it caused her to look up at his tattered ear. She felt bad for the kid. He continued to speak to her, while she remained silent. He went on about an ointment that his mother put on it. She knew that Aloe would help this situation, but she did not have any readily available. She would have to go out to the garden to get some, which she would, once the male was in her den and relaxing. He actually seemed to be relaxing now though, for he suddenly spoke of it not hurting much anymore, even though his hands begged to differ since they were swelling up. Yeah but your hands still need to be treated. Also, you might not be able to use them extensively for a little bit. You know that right? she asked the man as she grabbed at the man's bicep and pulled him towards her. We need to do this in my den. I have better supplies there. spoke the woman as she turned away from the man and she started to walk towards her den. She waited for him at the entrance of the caverns, and then she lead him to her den that was through the corridors of the caverns, and way deep within the mountain.

Once they had gotten there she led him to a seat and she offered it to him before Venom returned with the water and rags. He looked at her and then went to Panda's room and grabbed her tweezers and a plate to put the shards of glass on. Venom returned to Panda's side and placed the objects in her hand. Panda took the tweezers and plate and placed them on a counter to the side before she moved back to Scorpius and she dipped the rags into the cold water. Put your hands over the bucket. Running water will bring the swelling down. she told the man as she waited for the man to put his hands over the bucket so she could squeeze the water from the rag that she held that was full of the liquid.

Make a wish when your childhood dies.

It was starting to feel like this was all some kind of bad dream. He wasn't sure that he felt his hands anymore, the pain in them gone unless he tried to flex his fingers. He didn't know that this was a sign of his body going into shock, a defense mechanism of the flesh that could purport bad tidings. But Panda was here, and she would care for him. The blistered flesh on his hands was beginning to ooze half cauterized blood now, and other fluid. He looked up at the man she called Venom and watched as he went, again feeling more like he was a dreamy apparition that was receding down the hall.

He didn't really hear much of what Panda said, as he stared down blankly at his hands. After a moment he did look at her though, confused at first, and then he nodded slowly. “Your den, right,” he muttered, but she was already leading him there. At least it was easy to follow her guidance. Even a little out of it like he was he still knew the halls of the caverns, and no twist or turn surprised him even though he did not know exactly which den belonged to the black and white woman. Soon enough they were there, though. Or had it taken a while to get there? Scorpius wasn't sure.

“Maybe someone could send for my mother?” He suggested as they crossed the threshold into the room. He wasn't begging for mommy by any means, but Scorpius welcomed any chance he could get for Naniko to come to his side. Or would she just think he was stupid for being burned again? He didn't care. She could think he was stupid, as long as she thought about him. But somehow... she had welcomed him back with such open arms, such love, he thought maybe she would not be angry with him. Funny how this full grown man was still so worried about Momma.

He took the seat he was offered, and it seemed that some of his wits were returning to him now. Though unpleasantly enough with the wit also came more pain. He looked at Panda, more comprehension in his eyes again. “Yeah... I know,” he said gruffly, annoyed. Why did the damned thing have to blow up then? It was the result he had been looking for the whole time. Why that one? Why then when he was so close? “It wasn't supposed to happen like that. It was meant to be set up and then thrown, and it should have exploded on impact. At least, that's my understanding of it. So many times I tried before, too, and the rag kept going out. Once it fell into the alcohol and it didn't even catch fire. How could that happen? I don't know why it did this time. I don't understand it. The fire just... wanted to catch this time...” Scorpius fully believed that fire was some kind of living, breathing thing, and while you could ask it to do something, ultimately it would always do what it wanted to do. This time, it wanted to explode the fuck all over him. He started mentally retracing his steps, wondering what he had done to anger his beloved flame.

He held his hands out, placing them over the bucket and looking at Panda as though for reassurance that this was what she wanted, but the instruction was simple and anyone could see that this was correct. His eyes flicked to the other tools Venom had brought in, the tweezers, and his visible eyebrow arched. “What are those for?” He had forgotten about the glass shrapnel stuck fast all over his torso, and even the piece in his face.
