It had been some time and he did owe the group two rabbits. He had left them behind with that dog Amy. All things considered his mind had been too busy on pack related things to even give that little incident much of his thought. Things like that needed to be considered. Needed to be thought about. Rabbits were wiley buggers and always did end up moving out of site right before catching them. The trick with rabbits seemed to be similar to his trick catching people out. You had to bait them, deceive them. Make them think that you were doing one thing when in actuality your fangs were just about to clamp around their neck. What was it about Amy that had left him….not wanting to think about everything? He had trained with X’y, exploited her weakness for the black furred male and began to remember just why he had liked her back in the old days. There was an inner laugh from his third person voice.” Perhaps it is that you wish to avoid this subject to avoid hurting her”. His eyes looked around, a small brown mammal moving through the brush, he caught its scent and began to stalk.

” Perhaps we should have stayed alone, we were stronger back then…no resistance, no pack to hold us back”

He was of course referring to that little leash his friend had around him, the muzzle that she made him wear whenever he was around other people. It was depressing being unable to speak his thoughts. To bait and examine people, that last time with the dog it had been. Wonderful….the look on her face, the anger. The truth. She was stripped bare of all her lies and false pretenses made a whore of his manipulations. But alas. It had to be thought about. The rabbits ears twitched as he approached getting closer now, could almost taste the blood on his fangs, tried to look as if he wasn’t paying attention to it though. Had to feign weakness, had to make it not perceive him as a threat. These thoughts….anger….defiance, with-holding truth, dodging questions, direct…link. It was possible of course that she simply didn’t want to discuss Jaden, but then why had she offered. Why had she given him things to misdirect him if indeed there was not a secret that needed to be hidden?

Perhaps it was for the best that he was thinking about this now, if Jaden did really care about X’y then if he mated with her and she found out that his link to the dog may have been physical or romantic. Well, more than likely she would attack him and brutally murder him for sullying her flesh so. Yes, X’y hated dogs. X’ies disliked them, his elitist attitude towards things made it so, but X’y’s hate of them was something entirely new. He knew that there had been an incident in the past involving deaths of the families new borne due to dogs stealing their food. But that alone wasn’t enough to spawn such a hatred, something had to have happened to increase it. Make it worse. Although then again, with Amy’s words about Jaden, he was a killer that wouldn’t hesitate to kill someone with a connection to him. Wouldn’t hesitate to kill a cripple. If she attacked him upon finding out…something….would he kill her as well?

Twas a disturbing thought, one that he didn’t particularly want to dwell on but then that little voice in his head, the one that was examining even his own actions from the third person. It spoke up. ” These are things you have to dwell on however, if we lose X’y we lose our foothold within the pack, we lose our security, we los-“. He pounced upon the rabbit snatching it between his jaws, one quick crunch down and the thing went lifeless, he dropped it. Death twitches, he looked down at it. Warn blood around his mouth. He thought to himself. To his inner voice.

” We lose our friend”

Confusion, sinc when had that word actually meant anything to him? It had never before, indeed she was important for him to retain his position within the pack, but since when had he actually physically cared about anyone in such a way as to call them that and be bothered about their wellbeing? Discarding these thoughts, he claimed his prize, leaving it under a tree to collect when he was done. He went out hunting another, and before long returned with his second prize. Another one slightly bigger than the last. Grasping both in between his jaws he returned and deposited the two in the stores. He didn’t bother speaking a word to his fellow pack members. Merely returned to his den to rest. Blood still matted his fur, but that would be taken care of soon enough. For now…he needed to think more deeply.
