He had been told of this place before, perhaps not the particular name but of who was the one in charge. He had been eager to learn of it but had hesitated at the last possible moment. Nerves had gotten the better of him and he had backed out after having been shown the way before. He had taken time to himself think about whether or not he could really go through this. His mind had wandered over the thoughts of if he would even be remembered. Would he even be welcomed? What had caused the leader of this place to give up his previous leadership and flee the land? They had shared nearly everything and yet he hadn't seen that coming.

The dog summoned his courage and lifted his voice into the air, the sound of it being unable to be mistaken for anything but one with hound blood. It was quite distinct and gave him away easily. Would the King turn him away at the sound of his voice or would he welcome the face from his past? Zeitgeist was unable to say for certain and that is what had led him to turning away the first time. But this time he had come more for Guillotine than himself. He was having trouble providing for the boy and from talking to others he had learned that packs were good for providing for the young. So even if he should be turned away then maybe Sirius would at least see fit to watch over Guillotine.

Zeitgeist stood behind the boy, hands placed upon the youth's shoulders. He peered anxiously into the foliage that kept the kingdom from view. The unease bit at his stomach and made him feel quite ill. It would be no good for him to lose what little scavenged meat that he could place in his belly. The bird upon Z's shoulder ruffled his feathers before settling down again, the avian creature seeming to have picked up on the tension of the moment as well. This was it, this moment would decide the fates of the trio.

And if you're ever around, in the city or the suburbs, of this town,
Be sure to come around, I'll be wallowing in sorrow, wearing a frown,
like pierrot the clown.

The days had passed slowly and smoothly of late. Whatever dissension had arisen at Salvia's claim of power seemed to have simmered deep and low within the Salsolans, for no challenges had come, nor any mutinous whispers to reach the Serpent's hungry ears. He had been well aware that many harbored alliance with Eris, and perhaps had expected more aggression from her and her kin at this change of rank. But no treason had been voiced, nor felt with fists and fang - Perhaps even they had seen the wiseness in this decision, seen the ebony woman's descent from the throne as practical, merciful even.

Although he told himself otherwise, it was a lingering feeling of guilt that had prevented the King from seeking her out himself. Eris had retreated into some dark crevice to lick her wounds, and Sirius had made no attempt to find the location of such a hide-away. What would he say to her? It is for the best. He had been her mentor, once her lover, perhaps even in rare glimpses her true friend. Had he betrayed her by allowing Salvia to take her crown? Perhaps, but his duty was to Salsola, not to Eris Eternity. That was how it was, and how it always would be.

A call rose from the east, a wailing cry that summoned his attention. Strange, warm familiarity pooled in the man's stomach, his head jerking in the direction of the sound, disbelief forming a startled scowl over handsome, brooding figures. The howl rang in his tall ears a moment longer, before drifting into the eerie silence that settled over his kingdom once more.

Without realizing it, Sirius was jogging towards the border, then running. His Optime form was tall and lean, rangy and built for stamina, and it was as elegant in a run as it was in any posture. The muscles of his calves, his thighs, contracted and released with the power of steel springs, body twisting as he leapt over a fallen tree, hardly breaking pace. Huge paws, almost too large for his lean frame, were nearly silent against the mulch of the forest floor. It was not long at all before he had honed in on the creator of the call.

The border was silent, and still, but keen olive eyes picked the two - three, for a bird was among them - forms that loitered there. His breath, slightly stirred by the brisk pace, hitched a moment, dark brow-spots rising. "Zee?" Came the dark caramel tones, luscious and poisonous and all too familiar to the hound who had been his second, his right hand in the land across the seas. "Is that really you?" Sirius emerged from the shadows, stepping tentatively out towards the man. His narrowed pupils, almost lost in the mass of luminous acid green, briefly darted over the boy that stood before the man, but were quick to return to the Jester.

His stomach tightened into knots as that familiar body stepped out from the shadows. He had changed, scarred now, but Zeitgeist still found the male as beautiful as ever. "Il mio uomo bellissimo anziano." The words he had so frequently used to speak of Sirius were whispered out softly. His gaze traveled over the other's body, fully taking him in. He hadn't allowed for himself to actually hope and believe that the name that left the lips of other canine's could actually lead him to the one whom had been his best friend once upon a time ago.

Before he could stop himself a whine of longing and desire escaped him. He had always been easily excitable but this was the first time that he had shown signs of it without even having been touched. Of course this made him glad that the boy was in front of him in order to hide his lower half from view as he tried to will away the unexpected reaction he had received from just being face to face with the other male again.

"It is." His voice was still soft but h forced out a laugh to strengthen his tone. "Who else would it be?" He grinned before it ended up softening into a simple smile. "I've heard others say that you were here, that you are doing well even. I didn't want to believe it until I seen it for myself." Z imagined that Siri was just as surprised to find him here as Z was to end up finding Siri. Still, he didn't know if this was a good surprise or not. His eyes were fervently searching the expression the beautiful brunette to try and figure out if he had been the cause behind the other's departure and if that meant that he was unwelcome here.

The whispered words confirmed what he already knew, deep within. This man was the boy he had known, back when youth had clung to them both, and the world beyond this one had knelt at his feet. They had been delusional, wild, and utterly free. Memories moved like menacing shapes in the dark water of his consciousness, and the tall, lanky man took another step closer. His expression was clean of the layers that usually guarded it - The brooding cunning, the sly guardedness, everything that manipulated his expression melted away by the power of this shock. Here was a face he had never expected to see, or know, again - Like a ghost from a chapter in his life now dead.

The male spoke again, his accented voice chiming in notes of familiarity that Sirius stored within his head, eagerly catching more within tall, erect ears. The hound grinned, and startled, the mocha and cream male reflected the smile, his own yellowed teeth glinting sharply. "You've seen it, now, although I'm not sure that I am not asleep," His voice was a murmur, low and lacking the poisonous power it usually ebbed with. He blinked, once, as though to clear his sight, and came again to the powerful realization that this was truly happening, and Zeitgeist had returned to him once more.

A laugh burst from deep within him. "E sei tu! I miei occhi non mentono. Non sono impazzito da questa aria del nord!" A delighted chuckle accompanied the words, and he stepped closer again, moving to close the space between them so that he might clasp the other tightly. However, the boy stood between them, and he hesitated awkwardly from doing so, pupils lingering on the youth. "And who is this? Stai raccogliendo randagi ancora una volta, amico mio?" Zee had always had a soft spot for the lost and lonely youth of London, Sirius recalled - It had been one of the most endearing qualities to the man.

He hadn't been immediately turned away so that had to be a good sign at least. Zeitgeist didn't think he could take the rejection now that he had found where Sirius had been hiding himself away. Each of the men seem to harbor their own disbelief that this could be real. Z had been scared to hope that his once leader could actually be found here so far from civilization. But the proof was right in front of his eyes now. there as no way that he could deny this. And with the words that Sirius spoke it would seem as if he couldn't quite believe all of this was real either.

"I am here." Z smiled and then decided to add on a couple more words. "Per voi." The dog figured that there was no reason at all to hide it. He had only decided to loiter at the borders simply because he had been told that just within was where Sirius resided and ruled. He had finally scrounged up the courage to test and see if that was true or not.

Z looked down at the youth as he was brought into question. "Guillotine." Z gave the name that he had been given for the boy since he had never once spoke on his own. "Ho comprato questo uno. Lo ha salvato dai maltrattamenti." Not that such was really an uncommon thing for Zeitgeist. He didn't have any real qualms with slavery just so long as there wasn't any unwarranted abuse as had happened in Guillotine's case. Z couldn't stand by as G's master had caused him to drop the food and then punished him for dropping the food. It wasn't right to set someone up for failure and then punish them for the failure. "Purtroppo io non sto facendo molto meglio con lui. Nessun mercato significa poco cibo. Ma il ragazzo non si lamenta." But then Z thought to clarify a bit, it wasn't that Guillotine just chose not to complain but that Z had never heard him say a single word. "Actually he doesn't speak at all. He has never said a word the entire time he has been with me."

As Z had been speaking, explaining how he had come to acquire Guillotine he had been easing his way around the boy. Zeitgeist no longer cared if Sirius saw his predicament or not. It wasn't as if it was something that the other had never seen before. Of course the leading brunette had to have glimpsed it when they would share women. This was simply the first time that Sirius had elicited such a bold reaction from the dog. It was the first hint of just how much Siri meant to him, a sign of how far the extent of his longing went.

Z made to finish closing the distance between them, reaching up to remove Ptolemy from his shoulder in order to try to place the bird on Sirius's shoulder so that he might be free to embrace the other male. Perhaps to even get the chance to nuzzle his face into the side of the neck of his long lost friend. "Si sono cambiati, ma ancora bella. Bella bruna, come ti ho mancato. E 'così bello vederti ancora una volta, amico mio... il mio amore." The words were murmured out softly, a great deal of affection being poured into them.

And if you're ever around, in the city or the suburbs, of this town,
Be sure to come around, I'll be wallowing in sorrow, wearing a frown,
like pierrot the clown.
