Frolicking In the Flowers

Word count: 444 Hi! I got it up, obviously. Hope you like it Smile

The soft breeze made the stretch of sunflowers sway in the wind, shaking small amounts of pollen from each one. The luperci walked through the field, taking in the beautiful view of the tall flowers. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed a flower that was shorter than the others around it. He cocked his head to the side in thought, thinking of how this flower is like him. He was always the small one, the wolf that wasn’t as important as the rest, the one that was looked down on. In this case, the flower was looked down on too, literally. Bending down onto his knees, the wolf gently cupped the top of the flower in his hand.

“Are you all alone bud? Well, you know what, you’re not anymore,” he said to it.

Looking around, he saw a sharp rock lying close to where the field stopped. He stood back up off of his knees and rushed over to it. Grabbing it in his hand, he went back over to the flower and carefully held the bottom of the stalk in his hand. Positioning the rock on the stem, he carefully cut it close to the bottom, but left the root so it could grow back later.

Maybe, he thought, it’ll grow back bigger and stronger, just like me.

Feeling enlightened, Leichi held the flower close to him against his chest, starting to dance around. A warm feeling in his stomach started to grow as he laughed happily, feeling like a puppy again. He remembered those days, the days with no worries, no responsibilities, and no fears. He flinched when something sharp hit his head. Looking up, he saw his hawk hovering over him, scowling the best she could for a hawk.

“No! Flower not friend. Timmy friend,” she scolded.

The young wolf rolled his eyes at the hawk and, ignoring her, started to dance around the field again. Once he became tired, he plopped down. Legs crossed, and studied the yellow flower more. Noticing the pollen, he curiously sniffed at it. Taking in a large amount through his nose, he sneezed violently. Dropping the flower, he wiped at his nose, trying to get out the rest of the pollen by snorting.

“That pollen. Make nose itch. Stupid wolf,” Timmy stated. Leichi glared up at his best friend, still trying to get the pollen out of his nose.

“Well maybe if someone helped me someway then I could actually get this stuff out,” he whined. He knew that that was bad idea.

OOC here!

Bad idea's come from the most innocent of places. Kohaku knew better than to run off on his own when Amy wasn't around. He knew that he would be heavily punished if she caught him in the act. It had been over a month since he last snuck away from the wagon, but the memory of hot metal searing his flesh was fresh in his mind. Even so, Kohaku couldn't resist running off. He had spotted a rabbit, so small and tender, nibbling on the clover. It sat close to the brier bushes, almost challenging him to chase it.

The puppy had stared at the rabbit for almost ten minutes when he finally decide to run after it. Kohaku knew that Alaster wouldn't rat on him, nor would Amy's slave. So if he just chased the rabbit a little and went back he would be fine. Right?

Kohaku had grown into quite the young wolf. He had gained nearly four pounds in the past two weeks and his constant travels with Amy had made his muscular for a pup his age. His fit state showed as oversized paws pushed against the ground and propelled his small body forward. Kohaku followed the rabbit with enthusiasm, enjoying every moment of the chase. He was too young to catch the rabbit, but he could at least keep up with it.

Green eyes flashed as Kohaku sped through the fields. The pup kept his focus entirely on the rabbit, not even noticing the large jungle of flowers quickly getting closer. It wasn't until his prey disappeared into the forest of sunflowers that Kohaku even noticed the flowers. Surprised, he skid to a stop and looked at the giant flower's warily. They were even taller than Amy. Kohaku craned his neck, stretching his vision to see the bright yellow flowers that rested atop their green pedestals. The smell was pungent, making his nose twitch a little as he tried to adjust to the strong scent.

Kohaku chewed on nothing as he thought about the fields. His mouth moved uselessly, but it made the teething pup feel a little better. At last, he decided to explore the sunflower forest, figuring it couldn't hurt to take a quick look. With an excited leap, the puppy hopped into the sunflower fields. The high stalks rose above his head like a mass of luperci. Despite the hot summer air, the ground was almost cool beneath his feet.

As Kohaku walked through the maze of flowers, the need to chew grew. His gums hurt so badly and chewing was the only way out. Frustrated, Kohaku stopped and turned to the nearest flower. It was so tall and swayed slightly in the breeze. The stem looked like it was too thin to hold anything substantial, yet it managed to hold the weight of the giant flower that sat high in the air. Kohaku gave the stem an inquisitive sniff before he wrapped his jaws around the stem. There was instant relief, and Kohaku chewed on the flower happily. But after only a few wondrous second of chewing, the stem broke with a snap and toppled towards him.

Scrambling, the pup tried to get out of the way, but only succeeded in putting himself directly in the path of the great flower. Kohaku yipped in pain and surprise the sunflower smacked him in the back of the head.
