Keldava glared petulantly at the twig in her hand as though the power of her gaze could somehow make it sprout 6eathers and become a perfect arrow. Admittedly it was a rather smooth twig with all the bark and branches taken off but with the varying thickness of the wood and the fact that it actually curved it was far from the arrow that Keldava had been trying to make.

Keldava loved her new bow and the leather belt/quiver combination Mahnaya had made her to go along with it and carried the two items almost everywhere she went in Optime form but the quiver looked rather silly with just the four arrows she had gotten with the bow rattling around inside it. Plus she was well aware that arrows weren’t the most durable of things and could easily break or get lost. While there were likely people she could ask to trade arrows to her Keldava had decided that she wanted to make her own and had set out trying, her bow resting against the side of the house next to her in anticipation of trying out her new arrows.

Unfortunately several hours of work had left Keldava with little more than a variety of smooth but misshapen twigs scattered over the patch of ground where Keldava was working, ringing the spot where the girl was sat cross-legged like debris from an explosion and several cuts on her hands and fingers where the knife had slipped. And splinters. Keldava didn’t like to think about the splinters, she was going to be picking them out of her pads for weeks by the feel of it! Keldava had tried to start simple - straight shaft with a pointed end carved on – and then work on adding stuff like feathers and an actual arrowhead but unfortunately even that first step had proved far beyond Keldava’s skills with a knife.

Huffing Keldava snapped the twin in half and picked up a fresh piece of wood, this time trying to start from a slightly thicker branch. Tongue poking out of her mouth in concentration Keldava bent over her work, carefully running her knife along the branch to strip the bark off.

Temo was puttering about his shop and cleaning up the messes that he had been leaving about. He had been so intent with a couple of projects and improving his technique and timing with the lathe that he had built a while back. Some projects would actually be used and some were on scrap pieces of wood for practicing techniques and learning how some techniques were done. Making wood items and cabinetry and other stuff was something that he was finding that he enjoyed doing. He also liked doing repair work on houses, barns and other buildings that the humans had built and were slowly being taken over and utilized by the luperci, but it was the finer detail work of cabinetry and other woodcarving that he had found to be the most enjoyable. Especially in trying to figure out how the humans had done their woodworking.

After he got the cleanup done and then he proceeded to put the tools back in their storage places with leaving a few of the carving tools lined up on the bench to be passed over the whetstone and sharpened the cutting edges back to their razor sharp rediness, he decided to take a break for a drink and a quick snack so he headed off to the house that Jace and Him had taken over when they were admitted to the pack. He did not quite make the short trip between his shop and the house complete when he saw one of his daughters busy trying to carve on a stick. He also noticed the previous attempts that she had done strewn about her on the ground along with the shavings that her knife had produced.

He saw the look of concentration that was on her face as she was attempting to shave the bark off of her next victim but it was the frustration that he saw dancing in her eyes that made him change his direction from the house to Keldava's impromptu workshop, his thirst and hunger already forgotten. When he got there, he kneeled next to her looking over what she was doing. By the look of her thrown away attempts that she was trying to make dowels and a quick glance at her bow and quiver, he thought she might be trying to make some arrows. Hi Keldava, what are you up to today? he asked. With his fatherly wisdom that he seemed to be acquiring as time passed and he interacted more with his children, he reasoned that his daughter may need some assistance and instruction. Do you need help with your project?
