He had hated seeing her go, had hated seeing her in pain. She was his sister, he reminded himself. Not only that, but he was a healer. He carried a pack of herbs with him, just in case. He halted at the borders, sending out a questioning howl, one which carried notes of his authority in D'Arte mingled with his concern for Gemma and his instinctual respect for another pack's borders.
He hadn't let Myrddin come with him. He had Myrddin stay home and tend the pack, tend the home fires so to speak. In reality, he wanted to see how the stitches had healed, if they had healed neatly, how extensive the scarring was, how her ear had healed. How her heart had healed.
His heart stuttered, knowing how extensively mentally and emotionally scarred she had been before Liam's attack. It killed him to know that just as she had been regaining her confidence, her strength, she had been attacked and violated again. He swallowed, letting his hands rest in his pockets. Guilt ate at him, knowing the monster who had hurt her had once been his own son.
No more. He was certain now, that if he ever saw Liam again, he would make sure the hateful male was dead. An attack on himself he was able to forgive. But this betrayal was too much for the scholar to forgive.
