The first night and day of travel had come and gone. The second sunrise now levitated low on the horizon. They had made good time the day before after speaking with the leaders of Vinatta. Now the boarders of their next stop were quickly approaching. Jaden thought back and tried to recall all he knew about the pack. From how people spoke of it, he got the feeling that that they were a much more traditional pack. Plain and simple wasn’t always stronger but it did give a pretty good idea of what to expect and where their relations would likely stand when the day was through.

Fayne was his only true representation of this pack. She was a bit hot headed as memory recalled, but had ended up being good natured enough. She had been unknowledgeable when it came to weapons and even seemed a bit shaky around Optime formed wolves. So it was reasonable to assume her pack didn’t take the form often. It was best then that Jaden was still on four legs. First impressions were a strong part of bonding. The two nomads could appear tastefully for New Dawn. Jaden didn’t wait or ask for X’ies’ opinion like he had the second day, he simply tossed his head back and called for a meeting after finding the boarder.

Jaden does. Jaden speaks. Jaden thinks.

Palaydrian was already elbow deep with weeding in her garden. Jiva had done an excellent job the other day, but the golden woman was meticulous when it came to her roses, and the dandelions, though pretty, were relentless at growing around the thorny vines. She had just finished plucking them out of the soft soil and had moved on to trimming down some of the unruly leaves when her mind drifted to the events of yesterday. A girlish smile spread across her lips as she thought about the way her mate had made her heart race and how his arms had felt around her waist. She sat back in daydream on the edge of the tractor tire when Zalia landed on the rubber beside her, startling the woman and causing her to lurch forward. Zalia! Don’t do that, she said gruffly as she picked herself up from the dirt and clapped her hands together to remove the dirt.

Missus! Sorry...strangers come, the hen harrier informed her as she continued to dust the soil off her hands and knees. Strangers? Are you sure? Palaydrian asked as she began to put away the crude shovels she had made and the clippers she had found in Amherst. Where did you see them? She continued to pepper her feathered friend with questions, finally looking at her once her tools were stowed. Yes strangers, near river seal dwelling, the harrier assured her before flying up to her favorite roosting spot. Thank you Zal- her voice cut off when an unfamiliar howl filled the forest. She shot the bird an affectionate gaze before taking off on two legs towards the call.

It was odd that visitors would come up so far this way, but Palaydrian’s little bit of Eden was nearby and it didn’t take her long to reach the heavily marked border. From within the treeline her bi colored eyes focused on two wolves. One seemingly completely black, and the other was of mottled shades of gray. She wasn’t sure if the two were seeking a home within New Dawn or not, but felt she should shift in case they were like her, and hailed from a more feral beginning. She adjusted the circlet upon her head before dropping down into her lupus form, finding that it remained between her ears if she pushed it back further before shifting. The woman gave her lustrous coat a good shake before revealing herself and cautiously approaching the two at the borders. The scent of her heat was heavy in the air, but her lust and urge to mate had been sated the other day, she would hold her own in front of the males. She held her body high with confidence but could not keep the natural friendliness out of her tone and did not try to hide it. Merry meet strangers, you’ve called?

They seemed friendly enough, or perhaps that was due to Palaydrian’s nature of finding the good in everyone, or at least trying to do so. The visitors had not made any threatening movements toward her nor had they seemed to want to dominate the smaller woman, so she allowed her tail flag to wag back and forth in a carefree manner. The Epsilons of the pack had been tirelessly patrolling their lands lately due to the waged war on Amy, but Drin was capable enough of defending herself, and did not share the sentiment of every stranger being a threat. If they kept up such a rigid frontline, no new blood would seek a home within their lands, and this bothered the woman. A welcoming face at the borders didn’t mean a pack was weak, rigidity had its place and function in all interactions, but that was when one would need to listen to their instincts over relying on brute force. New Dawn wasn’t a cold or racist pack, and Palaydrian wasn’t about to go on representing this outrageous rumor. Whatever past sins her brothers and sisters may have committed, she was on a crusade of rectifying the wrongs.

Her bi colored ocean eyes swept over the gray male as he was the first to address her. Golden crown dipped in respectful response to his greeting. She had not heard of this pack before, but assumed it was either one of the claimed lands that had so suddenly sprung up around the body of water she frequented outside of her own packlands. She had been wary of the thick scents culminating in that area, but chose to avoid the lands where the musks were heaviest though she had just trekked through that area a few months ago. Drin thought it had been better to keep anonymity until her alphas instructed her family otherwise. Pleased to meet you X’ies Lambda and Jaden Ohanzee of Sangi’lak, she said as she bowed her head once more to both wolves before straightening up to casually sit back on her haunches. I am Palaydrian Soul, but unfortunately I am not a lead member, she said with a slight chuckle, returning Jaden’s smile. I am the Omega of New Dawn, a keeper of the pack’s morale of the sorts or mediator if you will, she explained to the newcomers. Would you like me to call someone of higher importance? The question rolled off her tongue before it had formed in her mind, a habit of old in which she so selflessly demeaned herself.

I see you carry some sort of bah and bolts, Drin said as her eyes strayed over the bow and arrows against Jaden’s black pelt, an attempt to skirt over her last question. Do you hunt with those? She asked, deciding that she believed what X’ies had said about coming in peace and meaning to extend their good fortune to her pack. Surely he would not use this weapon on her? Perhaps it was naive for her to trust so easily, but even after what Aram had done to her...the angel would not be hardened or changed. As far as she was concerned, more allies is exactly what her pack needed especially while such grave thoughts swirled about in their heads with the thoughts of Amy. Unlike some of her brothers and sisters, she would not turn away strangers just because they carried foreign things upon their backs or were more comfortable using their two legged forms. In order to thrive, they would have to adjust to the changing world outside of their boundaries. While Palaydrian identified with some of the familiar traditions her pack upheld, she wasn’t about to be buried underneath such a stubborn culture.

The silver and snow wolfess was not far from the coastline when the call came out, and it was thankful that she was moving slower today than normal because the water was in her sights and if she was any closer the soft static of the waves would have drowned out any other sound from beyond the beach. But instead of being amongst the sea sand, Titania had only made it to the plain that reached out longingly toward the ocean, and so heard the resonance of Jaden’s summons. Her ears perked and she lifted her head in the direction of the call. There was just a momentary pause as the Alphess teetered between rising to the call of duty and continuing on toward the waves to nip and play. Duty won out over play, though, and she knew she might be the only leader this close to the call, so with one last longing look at the far off water, Titania turned and trotted briskly toward the call.

By the time she found them, Palaydrian was already there. Coming up from behind ‘Drin, Titania quickly read the clues of the moment. Palaydrian’s stance was relaxed although a bit formal, as appropriate when meeting wanderers, so they had yet to give her any real reason to worry. She caught the last trace of the words of greeting as she padded up in her lupus form beside her friend and looked at the others. Despite her wish to romp at the beach, the interruption hadn’t fouled her mood. She met them not with wariness (that was all kept veiled beneath the surface) but with a wide toothless smile and a nod of her high-held head.

“Greetings,” her curled tail twitched in a half wag before coming to rest again in its traditionally high position. Golden honey eyes took in the travelers, and at once she knew; “You are not the usual sort of wanderer we see around here.” She cocked her head in question. “Where do you call from, strangers?”

Palaydrian was something akin to a caretaker of Sangi’lak. It was a good fit for her if she was regularly this pleasing to be around. The Nomads could truly use someone of her talent. She was a linguist in her own way like X’ies, just without the cold and calculating mentality. And she smiled at him quite charmingly. Jaden opened his jaw to ask if she would call a member of New Dawn’s leadership to the meeting but was stopped before he could by another question. He glanced back at where her gaze fell on him when she spoke of a “bah and bolts”. No one had ever spoken of them with these names but he understood what she asked. On occasion. Mostly the weapon is just for defense. Never know when it might be needed, he admitted with a continued smile.

Movement drew his attention from the woman to another now that came for form the packlands. As she saw something in him, he did so in her. The body language the woman approached with was more dominant than Omega’s had been. She was a bit more cautious than she had been too but still kind. We are from Sangi’lak. We come baring good intentions and a desire to present our home to New Dawn. Would you happen to be part of the leadership here? He repeated himself with a slight chuckle and glance at Palaydrian. She hadn’t called but the dominant gestures meant she was at least a bit higher up in the ranks than the kind keeper of moral.

Jaden does. Jaden speaks. Jaden thinks.

Current Objective: Diplomacy ---
Form: Lupus----
Mood: Calm-

X'ies began to think at this poiint in time if he remained utterly silent then he would probably be attracting more attention to himself than if he acted like Jaden. Still a sweet mediation would emerge as the other female entered the fray. His thoughts were clear on most matters. It seemed that this pack had an abundance of females for one, this was to be noted as their own collective only held one, two if you counted the Jackel. Which of course X'ies did not. Trade with this pack would be interesting if that was the case, he would need to see further evidence though og the sex balance within the pack. It might well simply be coincidental that the two who emerged to meet them were females.

" We prefer to travel as light as the road permits, Jaden's bow does tend to come in handy for hunting "

He would speak directly after his alpha, trying to dispell the idea that it was a weapon, promoting the point of it being a tool. " I myself much prefer my current form, and suffice to say tools are not built suited...but it matters not...I manage". X'ies too was not blind to the parts of the new female that Jaden noticed, her body langauge indicaing higher authority. Though X'ies would first await its confirmation before jumping into anything that was set in stone. There was still much that he had to earn about these people and no doubt that these people had to learn about him. He moved from a four legged pause to sitting, his position was apparantly neutral, showing neither dominance, nor submission. His blue eyes, watching both females.

Although, his own alpha did not escape them. Jaden was not doing badly thus far, although he was sure that the Alpha still had some ways to learn before he became a successful orator.

WC :: 3+ :: Bah and bolts haha! I didn’t realize I typed that until it was posted! It’s a “Dark Tower” reference. I guess Drin will occasionally speak like the Calla people now. Tongue

The pair explained the weapon to the Omega as her eyes widened with fascination. She had always been drawn to unfamiliar things, especially if it seemed 5 fingers were needed over her wolf paws. Palay had seen a few instruments like this while she was in Casa but had not gotten the chance to try one out. She was nodding in agreement with X’ies sentiment. The golden angel was much more used to her four legged form, but she couldn’t deny the power she felt in her Optime form and the doors it opened for her with writing and using tools. Drin had also become quite the green thumb since joining New Dawn, and this was not doable without the aid of hands to grasp roots, carry watering pitchers, or building the garden’s makeshift fence. Though the thought of attempting to use a bow and arrows for hunting stirred her curiosity, her snout began to register a familiar smell. The woman shifted slightly on her haunches when her alpha and friend approached from behind. A low whined greeting was given as she hunkered lower in her sitting position so Titania would be given the proper respect. Her wolfish smile remained as the Moonsong addressed the Sangi’lak wolves.

Jaden was the first to speak up, introducing himself and X’ies as he had to Drin and again the question of leadership came up. Palaydrian slyly winked an eye at the dark wolf before speaking up. M’lday, she formally addressed her friend, This is Jaden and X’ies, she explained gesturing with her snout to the owner when a name was given. Gentleman, she began, I am honored to introduce you to my Alphess, Titania. Palaydrian dipped her head once more. From the lands she had hailed from, the alpha when in the presence of a pack member never introduced themselves. She hoped she had done right by revealing her sister’s importance.
