Brotherhood Watch

Hadley couldn't believe he was doing this. He wasn't someone that was brave. He wasn't even very forward. His nature was submissive, but he wanted to help his pack. Hadley worked hard to do so. He owed so much to them, and loved the pack with every beat of his heart. He was free here, and could help others. It was frightening at times, watching the pack members come back from battle, or even witnessing them fight. The deaths they caused still echoed painfully in his mind. At the same time, he knew them. He remembered how gentle they could be, helping him and those he cared for, offering protection. Even Sidra, as much as he had been frightened by her.

He had studied medicine. First it had been simple knowledge gained to patch up his own injuries, then expanded into his care for others, doing what he could to take away their pain and make things better. An odd contrast in the pack of warriors, Hadley was a builder, a healer. Now he would become one of those with an oath to help those he met. He hoped to be brave enough to do so, to reach out to those he didn't know. With Regner gone he was the one the pack relied on when they were hurt, and it was strange knowing that he could be relied on.

Walking through the cave Hadley searched for the gemstone. He knew what it looked like, having seen them with other members, those who had become part of the brotherhood before him. With him he carried a simple leather thong with a knife, to cut the gem away. Deeper and deeper he traveled, the temperature dropping as he descended. Reaching the pool Hadley fell silent, looking in awe. It was a beautiful sight, the soft purple gems glistening where none would see. There was even a pool there.

Chipping away he carefully removed one. Holding it reverently he looked close, and placed it into the necklace. It fit tightly, Hadley sliding it up so that it was tighter. He looked down at the gemstone, letting it rest against his scarred body. It clinked gently against the sun and moon pendant Isa had given him. Smiling a little he sat down, thinking about the choice he had made. He didn't regret it, not one moment.
