9th August

The sun was shining and the birds were singing but Neela wasn’t in much of a mood to enjoy the nice day. The collie was sprawled sullenly at the side of the river, body contorted oddly with her lower half twisted onto its side to account for her engorged stomach and her upper half in a normal laying position, letting her gaze into the river that her paws trailed in.

Losing the use of her Optime form for the rest of her pregnancy had left Neela in a mad mood and while she was no longer secluding herself in the woods she wasn’t particularly good company at the moment; if one really wanted to find her she would be easy to track but she was keeping mostly to the lesser travelled area’s of the fort, such as the overgrown stretch of river directly behind the courthouse she was in at the moment, so she wouldn’t be stumbled upon by accident.

Though truth be told the river probably wasn’t the best place to be for Neela’s mood. The collie had been craving fish throughout her pregnancy but now that she had lost the use of her arms, and therefore her ability to catch fish, the cravings seemed to have intensified. Neela had plenty of salted fish but her stomach had decided that it wanted the fresh stuff for now, something that Neela couldn’t get for herself and that she knew few could get for her.

A dark shadow moved slowly into Neela’s vision and all her thoughts focused on the fish slowly making its way upstream. Somehow it hadn’t noticed Neela’s paws trailing in the stream and was swimming right past her. Neela waited until the fish was just below her and then struck forwards, jaw snapping into the water.

Unfortunately all Neela got from it was a wet muzzle. Without her entire body working into the motion Neela wasn’t quick enough to catch the fish and it slipped her jaws. The collie settled back, growling at the water for a few seconds before letting her head flop down onto her paws with a huff, returning to staring blindly into the waters.

Today was a lazy day around the Fort. With the sun high in the sky warming up the ground under his feet it was clear that many of the Cavaliers would laze about the territory. Moving around in his Halfling form Jazper strolled the stone paths that slithered around the houses. He had debated finding some large rocks to lay on, sure that the heat would feet good on his belly and would aid him in an afternoon nap but instead made his way through the gardens. The trees were plump with fruit and their shade cooled the warrior’s dark fur, helping his body temperature balance.

With a lazy smile he waded into the river, the water only deep enough to reach his torso in his massive four-legged form. Ignoring the fish that swam down stream towards him he pushed against the tide with ease, the rush of water refreshing him. A familiar scent reached him moments before he spotted the red dog dip into the water aggressively only to snarl, clearly missing her prey. When it came to fishing the Knight was much more experienced in his seuci form than his Optime, preferring to take notes from bears he had watched curiously in the past.

Knowing that the fish would be to startled to catch now he simply chuckled as approached the grumpy female. I’m sure Tony will catch you some fish if you ask. I can request Aly add fresh fish to her hunting regiment if you want. His suggestions were genuine, knowing better than to pick on a heavily pregnant female. He had expected his daughter-in-law to remain in her optime form during the pregnancy, knowing her preference for working with her hands on the boat and fishing. How are you doing love? He asked, his Scottish voice gentle in the inquiry.

Neela’s eyes flicked upwards when she heard someone splashing their way up the river. The alpha’s Secui form was both massive and easily recognisable; the river which would have almost forced Neela’s own Secui form to swim looked more like a paddling pool to the bear like wolf. Neela let out a short, low woof of greeting towards Jazper. ”Ah coulda caught it, jus’ wasn’ ready fer it.” she groused mildly, a yawn splitting her mouth for a moment as Neela shifted, cracking joints that had grown stiff from laying in the same position for so long. ”Tony will, has done. Don’ like ta ask him much though, he don' complain but ah know he ain’ too fond of water.”

Slowly Neela clambered up onto her feet and padded heavily down towards Jazper, tail drifting from side to side slowly behind her. She bumped her muzzle briefly against Jazper’s – her father-in-law now she supposed, though it was odd thinking of him like that, especially since she was older than him – before sitting down again, this time remaining upright on her haunches; the side-sprawled position she had adopted before was comfortable but not very dignified if she was talking to people.

Neela let out a small sigh at Jazper’s question, ”Tired mostly, yer bloody fault as well, yer family being such big pups. Heavy an all, can barely walk a mile before my paws ache these days.” Neela’s complaining was good natured though, a grin curling her lips as she spoke, ”A bit nervous maybe. Was bad enough tha firs time an then ah only had the one pup, an he was only jus bigger than me.” Neela smiled and jerked her nose down towards her belly, the large swelling clearly indicative of a large litter, ”Gonna have yerself plenty of grandbebbies ta play with Jaz, Mother willin’”
