Broken Bones

August 3

Hadley didn't know what to do. He worked hard to heal and care for the various injuries pack members had. He had plenty of herbs, and was planning a trip down to Aniwaya when Amatha was older to see if he could be taught some more about medicine there. Right now though, he didn't have the resources. Panicked he'd gone to Jazper, and the sol had helped him pull out plenty of medical books. Hadley couldn't do much beyond look at the pictures for something about broken bones, but Jazper could read to find what they needed.

Spotting a picture with a broken bone Hadley jumped up with excitement. Tail wagging he carried the book over to Jazper, gently nudging the large male. I found something. If this could help him know how to treat Tony's arm that would be just great. He didn't know how to deal with a numb arm otherwise. Tail swaying brightly behind him he looked up to Jazper, waiting for him to read from the book.

So shortly after joining the Brotherhood it had reached his ears that Tony had been in an accident. Worry had instantly over come the father when the Healer approached him about helping with research. Hadley was new to the entire business of healing and Jazper was of the understanding that he had picked up a few things on one of his trips to Aniwaya. The peaceful atmosphere of the Tribe seemed to be calming to the ex-slave and the father Knight was more than happy to allow Hadley leave to the tribe whenever he wished but with the loss of feeling in Tony’s arm the pair were restricted all day to the library. Fenris knew that is Jazper could assist Hadley in any way and bring back the use of his son’s arm he would.

They had separated the books, the brown healer would search through books with pictures for some mention of arm breaks while the leader took more time to read, scanning for mention of arm fractures. The exclamation from the normally quiet male almost caused Jazper to jump as well, shifting his shoulders back and forth he relaxed his body, taking the book from his friend and began to read, “The classic signs of a fracture are pain, swelling, and deformity (which looks like a bump or change in shape of the bone). However, if a break isn't displaced (when the pieces on either side of the break are out of line), it may be harder to tell.” Simple enough. Then he continued, “Your child will have an X-ray. The X-ray will show where and how severe the fracture is. This may be the only X-ray taken, however, depending on the fracture, another X-ray may be needed.” Questioning eyes wandered up to the healer, “Where do we find an x-ray?”

The sudden tension in Jazper's frame brought an immediate effect on the shy male, ears flattening. He hadn't meant to startle him, a small whimper of apology slipping out. He settled in close, looking at the book as if he could somehow divulge the meaning out of the words that Jazper was reading. They meant nothing to him, just symbols that said things he didn't know. The book was accepted, and the sole began to read out loud, Hadley absorbing the knowledge to the best of his ability.

There was no pain, definite swelling, and if one could classify bone sticking out as a deformity, Tony sported that. Grave he nodded his head, glad that Tony's case was more straight forward and easier to tell. An x-ray. Something to tell how bad the wound was. Frowning he thought about it, trying to interpret what it might be. I think it might be a healing herb. There's one that brings forth fever. The strength of the fever tells how bad the infection is. With no infection, there is no fever. Another one makes the wound bubble when applied, burning out the infection. The longer it goes, the stronger the infection. Perhaps this x-ray is similar? He didn't have any x-rays in the medical room though.
