For Gemma Smile +430

There were monsters in the world, and Skoll wanted to dispose of them.

Unfortunately, there was little that the young wolfdog could do. He had sparred with Adelle, but secondhand lessons had done him little good compared to the training he might have received under a fully-grown warrior. He knew that he would be done for if he confronted the beasts that had done so much harm to his pack mates.

He wasn’t completely hopeless, however; he could at least pinpoint the threats. He knew that his parents would be furious if they knew he was searching for killers, but he wasn’t in the mindset to cause trouble when he didn’t have to. He just wanted to find the monsters that had dared strike down the innocent, and then he would bring the whole cavalry of the Kingdom down on them. They might be able to hurt an old woman, or a man who couldn’t run away, but they’d be useless with all the great soldiers of the pack charging with a vengeance.

The young man was driven, his green eyes gleaming with predatory focus. He’d abandoned his lupus form despite its advantage of endurance over long distances, opting instead for the speed and power of his halfling shape, just in case he did need to fight or flee. He traveled south first, scouting over the hills and former Crimson Dreams territory before crossing the Trenches (spooking an old lone dog who was hunting there). He hoped to make a circuit of the southern lands, knowing that the harsher wasn’t a place for other courtiers anyway.

Early morning of the next day landed him in the vicinage of Serena Reserve, where wapiti roamed and fog coated the land. The fenced-in boundary interested him, but he put it to his left shoulder and ventured northward to the thick forest he was most familiar with. So far there wasn’t any immediate danger or suspicious characters, but the secui boy was determined to check out the whole area before he dared go home.

Light now ferried her whenever she left the safety of AniWaya's borders. She refused to leave without him or Frodo and Frodo was absent today when she looked for him, off somewhere with his son and her daughter. The golden male shadowed her every step and watched, alert and aware for anything that may threaten her well being, be it another wolf or even a falling branch. She stayed close to him, almost pressing herself against his side.

She was very aware of how imposing Light looked, sometimes he even scared herself when he got himself worked up into one of his rages. Tamai Waki walked along at her other side, the huge white buffalo was her second protector, her path through the darkness. It didn't escape her notice too that her first protector's name was in fact, Light, exactly what she was struggling to find in her bloodied world.

She stopped as Light did, looking up at him curiously with trepidation but he was focused on something ahead intently, he had seen something she couldn't no matter how she craned her neck. He issued a throaty growl and moved her behind him. Then the scent of a young male came to her, it wasn't Liam but it still made her shudder in fear, her eyes wide and wild.

Good God my post sucks. x__x; I didn't even try.

Fields spanned across the reserve, but they usually only existed in patches of meadow surrounded by easily-navigable forests, and he usually stuck to the outskirts of these meadows anyway. His secui body brushed up against ferns, and his paws softly rustled the carpet of dead leaves and coniferous needle both as he traveled north. He wasn’t too concerned with being stealthy (mainly because he’d given up on ever being stealthy; he was no cat), mainly because he knew he was not a threat, and that his form would lend him speed if he needed to flee.

Skoll was not a coward, however, and so he moved boldly through the lands, his footsteps confident and his head lifted. He had a purpose for being here, and so his journey was justified in his mind. His inexperience was to his disadvantage, though; he was close to a pack territory, and some might see his shape as a threat.

He didn’t consider this as he traveled, and so when a growl rumbled into the open, the boy was startled. He swung around quickly, his tail whisked out uncertainly behind him, and was still, peering into the surrounding vegetation to find the source. For a moment, he was silent other than his chest-heaving breaths, but when he caught sight of a large pale luperci standing defensively ahead of him, he let out a bark. It was an innocent and reassuring one, and he punctuated it with a wag of his now-curling tail.

“I’m not here to cause trouble, sir,” Skoll called brightly. He didn’t think that the scarred man wanted to cause trouble, either, or he would look more aggressive than passively cautious. “I’m just patrolling, making sure the area is safe.”

His voice was young and so full of hope it seemed, like he didn't know of the atrocities life could cause, probably the boy's only experience of hardship was his parents telling him where he could and couldn't go. It made her ache strangely inside, had she ever been so alive, so full of vitality. Maybe once upon a time, long ago. Her fairytale had turned to a horror story long before she could enjoy it. Tamai faded away into his other world although she could still feel his heat near to her leg and occasionally bursts of air.

Light was still staring suspiciously at the younger pale boy but his visage wasn't as harsh now, Gemma's soft hand upon his shoulder had him turning his head towards her, his golden eyes gleamed in the sunlight and she smiled gently. Her head appeared around the side of Light's broad shoulders and strong arms, blumine eyes sparkling from her mutilated face and the stump of her decapitated ear twitched,

"What a courageous boy you must be but make sure to keep yourself safe too, there are monsters that roam these hills. I'd hate for you to come foul of something unpleasant." The longer she spoke, the more of her body revealed itself from behind Light, who moved uneasily but confidently, he could protect her if the whelp turned violent.
