Moss had fulfilled his promise of patrolling the borders of the pack he didn't belong to, all as a favor for Terra, the pregnant woman he'd met out here trying her best to protect her pack when she had new lives to protect. He hadn't left, staying here until he knew for sure she was safe spending a lot of his time in the trees so he could see anyone coming before they saw him. Though, he hadn't seen her since then and judging by the time since he last saw her, he wondered if those pups had been born. Maybe that's why he hadn't seen her. Maybe she'd been caring for the newborns. With her and her mouths to feed in mind, Moss set out into the forest to hunt a meal for the expecting woman. It didn't take him long to find the scent of one rabbit which he killed quickly with a precise shot from his bow and arrow. Then he followed the trail of a second and did the same.

With two freshly killed rabbits in hand, he traveled to the borders treading carefully up to them so he didn't cross and wind up injured by protective pack members. With a large grin on his face he let loose a call for the beautiful trap setting woman to come and see him. He wasn't even sure he'd get a response, but even so he waited for an answer. Hopefully she would come, and maybe the pups she'd yet to give birth to the last time they'd spoken. Even as he waited, he kept watch for anything out of place. During his time by these borders, he'd gotten used to the landscape and by now knew every tree along the borderline. He was observant and had an exceedingly good memory. Ears pushed forward waiting for either the woman, or something to come at him, which he was confident wouldn't happen.

The pups were asleep, tucked deep into her den. Terra rested down by the water, lapping at it happily. The weight from her pregnancy had already shrunk some, and would be gone in a couple weeks. Her tail batted the air behind her, looking up occasionally to track what else was around. Her thirst satisfied Terra turned to return to the den and see her pups. The howl at the border brought a pause from Terra. The voice was familiar. Not someone she knew closely, but familiar all the same. It took a moment, and then she remembered.

Had he truly guarded the pack the entire time? Terra had been able to rest, thanks to his words. The fear had edged away from her mind, and the coyote had been more relaxed than she had been in a while. To hear his voice was a friendly reminder that not everything out there would harm her pups. Sticking her head in the den briefly Terra confirmed they were still asleep, and ran for the borders. Her movement was swift, practically flying with the burden of the pups gone from her body. Reaching the border she let out some joyful yips, dancing around.

Pausing Terra took a moment to shift into her optime form. It took longer than it normally did, having kept from shifting for the past couple months. The bones slid smoothly as they lengthened and adjusted for her upright form. Some of the weight readjusted, making her look thinner than she actually was as it resettled around. Huffing she glanced up, smiling at Moss. You really stayed the whole time?

Moss hummed to himself in his deep gruff voice while he let his mind wonder to wherever it pleased. There he went again, daydreaming. This time was no different than any other, his focus being around the family he one day wished to have. Moss sat down and let himself fall backwards closing his eyes while the light fluttered through the trees and onto his rusty colored pelt. A pleasant smile remained on his lips as he ran through his imagination. He was soon stirred from his thoughts by several high pitched happy yelps, a sweet sound that made him smile wider. He soon realized it wasn't part of his dream and rose to see Terra running towards him in Lupus form. She was pretty even on four legs and a loud chuckle rumbled from his chest as he waved to her, tail thumping loudly against the ground.

Terra!! He rose, brushing himself off and strode towards her a few steps while she shifted into a two legged beauty. She was a healthy weight with no more baby bump. She'd obviously delivered the puppies. She was also a considerable amount happier than last time, even prettier when she smiled. He stepped forward and placed his hands on her shoulders, smiling brightly down at her. Yes. I always keep my word. I assure you everything was fine the whole time I was out here aside from the angry boar every now and then. He laughed glancing over her body. You look good, healthy. I have to ask if those puppies you were carrying are fine. You just had a bump the last time I saw you, you look great though. It was almost like he was seeing an dear friend after a while apart, except she was a beautiful woman, even better. It was a good feeling.

The brown wolf was sitting, relaxed as he pleased right by the border. She wondered if anyone had noticed his frequent patrols. They certainly put her mind at ease, even if she had been half convinced she'd imagined him. Tail wagging she let out another yip as he chuckled with delight, watching him eagerly. Moss came to his feet, stepping towards her. Terra knew that she smelled of the pups and the milk that brought with it, a very different scent than the earthy one she usually bore.

She didn't mind that he touched her, knowing that she owed him her life. At least in her mind he'd been fighting off monsters. Laughing along with him her tail swayed. Yes. I have two sons, Ananse and Loki. Come and see? Spinning off brightly she grabbed his hand, tugging to have him follow. Terra didn't feel right leaving them alone for too long, and it was a good chance to show off her greatest pride.

Haha, Moss fantasizes a lot. He's a hopeless romantic. Tongue

It was so good to see her laughing and enjoying life again. Moss was overjoyed to have been the one to cause this. Well, he was sure her puppies brought her more joy than anything ever would but until they were born he'd provided her with the security she needed. Before she was panicked and distressed, it hadn't been good for her during her pregnancy. Moss was satisfied with himself, the happiness he felt from being useful to someone was unrivaled. Terra spoke of her sons and his face lit up. She spoke proudly of them. Apparently her pregnancy had played out well and she'd given birth to two healthy pups. The gentle giant was gleaming as she spoke of them and then offered for her to come and see him. His face lit up again, ears pressing forward and dog like tail swinging in circles behind him.

Before he was able to answer, Terra was grabbing his arm and pulling him in the direction of the border after twirling around excitedly. Moss grunted as she pulled him and he couldn't help but laugh and follow her motions as she strongly suggested he follow her. Okay then! He padded after her, a little hesitant to cross the border because it was pack territory. But, she was here and she was giving him permission besides, it didn't look like he had a choice. He wasn't going to give away the chance to see her two pride and joys. Moss had a moment where he couldn't help feeling like he was living his fantasy. A beautiful woman was dragging him off to see her children. Even though they weren't his children and he barely knew Terra, it was nice to picture himself as a happy mated man. As he was pulled he spoke in his rough voice. Ananse and Loki hmm? Those are two great names. Strong names. Moss was impatient to see them, following Terra quickly.

Even though Terra was weaker than Moss he tugged along behind her, entering the pack. Her tail swayed behind her the entire time. True, she had a pack to celebrate with. He had been important to her for helping her through the pregnancy though. He was part of it. Thanks. I hope they live up to them. They were powerful names, Terra picking them for how they had come to be and the luck that the original holders of them had held.

Reaching the forest Terra trotted through, pausing when she reached the den in the dry creek bed. Crouching down she whined softly, tail wagging as she looked in on them. They were still asleep. Gently Terra picked them both up, holding them in her arms. Ananse was a dark brown, matching Terra's own autumn coat, a darker patch running down his back. Loki, on the other hand, was a vibrant red, as colorful as her own red strip. Loki is the eldest, he's red. Ananse is his brother.

They never slowed as she pulled him along and Moss was eager to see the two little ones created from such a pretty woman. The names, he was sure would fit them perfectly. I'm sure they will with you as their mother. From what he'd seen of her, she already was a great mom. Just the simple concern she had for them before they were even born was a tell tale sign.

Terra came to a stop not too long after entering the pack. The rusty giant stumbled clumsily and had nearly fell trying to prevent himself from knocking the small woman over when she came to a sudden stop. When he regained his balance his mismatched eyes opened wide and watched intently as Terra knelt down to pick them both up. He could barely wait to see them and was tempted to kneel down as well to take a peek. Finally she took the pup's from the den and held them in her arms. The first thing he saw was a flash of bright red, brighter than his coat even and it nearly took his breath away to see them both so small and fragile in their mother's arms. The two pups were making small hiccups and snorts as they slept. A wide smile spread across the giant's face as he gawked at them and gave a long quiet gasp. Even as she spoke, his eyes remained on them flashing from one to the other. Moss knelt down and looked up at Terra briefly before returning his gaze to the sleeping boys. Terra they're amazing. Loki's pelt is stunning, as bright as the sun itself. When they grow up they're going to be handsome. He was astonished at how a Terra had created two beautiful puppies. He'd never seen such handsome boys before. Moss couldn't help but think about what his sons might look like if he ever had then and a subtle sadness washed over him, though he didn't show it. He just continued to gaze at them with an appreciative smile on his face.

Moss lifted a large finger and pushed it forward looking at Terra first. May I? If she gave him permission, he would run his finger along each of their backs. There was an intense warmth that radiated off of their small bodies. His eyes and smile grew wider completely blown away by Loki and Ananse, Terra's son's. You're lucky to have such beautiful sons. He took his hand away and placed it on his knee looking down at Terra, his tail swishing slowly behind him. Seeing her with these pups and being here with her, made him think of how it would be if he was their father. He'd be proud, beyond it really. The picture of the three together was a stunning one, she was beautiful with her sons in her arms. His adoration was shining through his bright smile though he didn't notice it, he really wasn't focusing on anything else other than her and her pups.

Chuckling at the comment Terra ducked her head. Whether or not they would live up to the names was entirely up to the pups, though she would guide them the best that she could. With the pups in her arms she watched Moss, wary of what he would think of them. They gave her such pride and joy, but at the same time was afraid for them and wanted to hide them away. The gasp pushed such thoughts away, tail wagging brightly behind her as she smiled up at him. He did like them. They were brilliant little mixes, their coats a mottle of colors.

Moss knelt down, coming closer to the pups. It made her a little nervous, having a stranger so close. He finally looked up, eyes glistening brightly. His praising words boosted Terra's ego, whining with appreciation. They will be the best out there. Asked if he could pet them Terra hesitated. They were only a couple days old. At last she nodded. He had protected them from before they were born, she would trust him. She watched closely as he touched each one, Ananse rolling over and grabbing at Moss's finger to suck on.

The hand was pulled away, leaving the pup whimpering. Terra quickly lowered her head, licking at him until he fell silent once more. Loki let out a chortle in his sleep, Terra doing her best to cradle them close. Thanks. I'm lucky they lived. I hope they grow to adults. Coming from a pack of non shifters there was no sorrow when she said it, just fact.

Still Moss couldn't seem to take his eyes off of them, though he did glance up at her to assure she was still comfortable with him being there. It was an honor for her to have brought him here to see them. He noted the slight apprehension when he came to her level and he compensated by looking up at her with all the seriousness in the world and being slow in all his motions. This was her safe place, the pups' safe place and he was to be respectful of that. She seemed to be alright after a few moments and he couldn't keep away the mile long grin from his face. They weren't his, but it took his breath away to see them. This was proof of the rewards that came from being kind to to others, he would never stop being the way he was. I'm sure they will. I imagine any less of them. They might be young, but I can see it already. He really could. They were strong, healthy, had a great mother, and were handsome. Moss could see nothing but happiness for them, or at least that's what he wished for them.

It took a moment for Terra to come around, but he waited patiently the whole time. He almost gave up the notion entirely not wanting to overstep his boundaries but finally she gave him the okay and he proceeded to stroke each of them once along the back, slowly as to not disturb them or their mother. Ananse reacted to his touch and flopped over in her arms pawing at his finger. Moss followed the young one's motions and Ananse started to suck on his large finger. He was small, but his grip was strong and the sucking was powerful. His smile grew ten fold and a warm laugh filled the air. He looked up to Terra before returning his gaze to the suckling pup. He's already strong...wow. He tested his strength by pulling his finger lightly but the tiny paws and mouth urged him to stay put. Moss chuckled again completely enveloped by the two puppies.

Soon, he took his finger away and Ananse began to cry which forced Moss's ears to pin to his head. He didn't like hearing that and was now sorry that he'd moved his hand. His panicked eyes raised to look at Terra but she was already on it. Eventually he was quiet once more and Moss could relax. I didn't mean to upset him. She watched her continue to soothe them, wowed by the three of them. Moss came to sit bringing his legs in front of him in an indian style position. Seeing how strong they both are, I'm sure they'll make it. With you taking care of them and the help of your pack they have a great chance at growing up to become charming adults. He meant it, he fully believed in her ability as a mother and would never test it. Moss looked to her with meaningful eyes. Thank you for bringing me to see them. It was an honor.

As gentle as Moss's actions were, Terra was a mother, albeit a mischievous one. He could have handled them perfectly, and she would still have been uneasy. She had made the choice to trust him though, and brought him into their lives. The pups didn't move much beyond Ananse's complaints. Loki was completely asleep, unaware that he was being watched at all. The warm laughter as Ananse played with Moss brought a warm smile from Terra. She wished he would stay. Stay with her, and the pups. She wished he was Kit, here to love her and play with the pups. Such things were just dreams though. Terra was sure that he was gone. The dye on her fur was completely washed out now.

Laughing Terra watched it, not moving to interfere. Her son seemed rather happy with what he had found, tasting it and sucking eagerly. He'll be taking down deer on his own when grown! A baseless boast, but one she made all the same. Glancing up at the male's apology Terra struggled not to laugh. He looked so panicked! He's fine. They cry all the time, over all kinds of things. She tried to keep them from crying too much, but occasionally that was just what the result insisted on being, such as when Ananse cried when she didn't let him push Loki around, or Loki crying because Ananse's paw was removed from his mouth. Beaming she met his strong eyes. I had to show you. I don't know if they would be here without you. She would have remained too panicky, and perhaps killed them in the process.

Sitting here with Terra and her pups, Moss had forgotten about everything else. It was amazing how Ananse, Loki, and Terra could completely drain the man from all worries. It was almost like a dream. He'd forgotten that he was a loner, that he'd left his family, about the disturbing spirit that followed him around, and that he was lonely and longed for things that were out of his reach. One thing that he hadn't forgotten was that he wasn't these pups' father. That one thought seemed to linger and remind him to be respectful and careful around Terra and her pups. He didn't know her well, only have meeting her once before. As she sat there with the two strong boys all the desire for his own family splayed in his expression and he was becoming curious about the pretty woman. He kept his curiosities to himself for the meanwhile and continued to watch the pups. They were only sleeping, but they were incredibly entertaining.

Moss laughed at her joke and nodded. That was something he could believe. I wouldn't doubt it! Instant relief washed over him when she told him they always cried. Then he felt kind of silly for becoming worried about it in the first place. They were children, of course they cried. He rubbed his forearm and chuckled sheepishly. Of course... He truly was grateful to be here and wanted to stay forever, with her, and take care of the puppies with her as well. It was a silly thought but he couldn't keep himself from it. Terra was sincere, telling Moss he contributed in the pups being a live right now. The thought brought a prideful smile to his face. He was sure she'd have been fine without him at the borders, but he was more than glad to have soothed her that day. Just her thinking of him as that big of a help, had him swelling with happiness. It was nothing, honestly. In the rush of coming here and seeing the pups he'd forgotten about the rabbits he'd caught and tied to his pants. Quickly, he untied them and held them up in front of Terra. I caught these before coming here, thought you might need the extra food.

Terra settled down so she was more comfortable. She would have switched back into lupine form to curl around them, but Moss was here in optime, and she didn't want to close him out from her world. Few seemed to understand her when she returned to her feral roots, speaking about death in a manner far too casual for the soft hearted luperci. A smile flashed over to Moss, amusement sparkling at his sheepish expression. If he'd hurt her pups, she certainly wouldn't be talking to him about it. There would be a better chance of him learning how to fly.

The pair of rabbits were removed, Terra's attention instantly focusing over to them, the pups forgotten. Her tail wagged, hunger ruling her at the moment. She did get food, but she had a bottomless pit for a stomach, and could always eat more. Thanks! The pups were placed carefully in her lap, and Terra accepted a rabbit, doing her best to not snatch it over. Breathing in the scent Terra sighed happily, and dug in. Delicious! The best thing she could have received! He had to be magical to be able to prepare stuff so perfectly like this.

He doesn't show his face a lot and Moss will do whatever he can to make Eilam stay away from Terra and her pups. X3

Moss laughed wholeheartedly at Terra's expression when he took out the rabbits. Seems she was hungry and it was a great idea to bring them food. He was willing to catch food for them regularly if that's what she needed him to do. He had a warm smile on his face as she thanked him and quickly took the rabbits from his hands. It was almost as if she was starving the way she dug in. She probably couldn't get enough time out of her day to go and catch herself food. The thanks was returned with a quick nod as his tail thumped against the floor. Nothing could be better than seeing her so happy compared to the way she had been when they'd first met. It's not a problem. He sighed and let himself relax a little more enjoying the time he was spending with her and her sons greatly. A shy air came over him and his hand raised to scratch the side of his face before he spoke. You know. I wouldn't mind hunting for you. If you need some help that is.

It was a pathetic attempt at trying to stay in her life and be around the puppies. This was the most joy he'd experienced in years. Aside from his fling with Eclipse. But, that was all a big mistake in her eyes. He had simply drank too much and let himself get carried away. Moss was just a big dreamer already thinking about the pups and what they'd look like when they got older, how their personalities would start to come out more the older they got. He would give anything to see them grow up and be here for Terra. It was a silly though to be involved in her life. He barely knew her but it was a thought worth keeping in mind. <style type="text/css">

OOC Smile

Word Count → 000

The laughter didn't bother Terra, just smiling messily back up at him. If there was one way to her heart, it was food and shiny objects. He had provided one, and the loyalty he'd already displayed had earned him a place in her heart, trusting him near her pups. Moss relaxed further as she ate, Loki and Ananse occasionally shifting around in her lap. It made a good barrier to keep them from tumbling out into the world and hurting themselves.

A good portion of the rabbit was gone when his voice came through the air, quiet and a little shy. Slowing down Terra looked at him curiously. It was a good thought. A chance to keep him around as company. Her pack helped provide food, so she wasn't in any dire need. Still...It would be nice. I'm not able to leave and hunt for myself. Not when they were this young. It would be sometime yet until she could leave them for any length of time.

Ew, that last post had some problems. .__. Maybe one more and this could be finished? Seems like a good place. :3

Her accepting his offer of helping with food made his heart soar. This way, he would be able to see her and the pups growing up. The excitement was evident on his expression, almost puppy like, and his tail that thudded loudly on the ground. His eyes focused on Ananse and Loki who were still sleeping soundly on their mother's lap. How could be be so grateful to be part of the puppies', and Terra's lives if she wasn't his mate and they weren't of his own blood? That was a question he would leave for later examination. For right now he just wanted to enjoy being part of something bigger than himself. It made him feel alive. Okay, I'm your personal hunter then. Whenever you need me. He smiled a wide toothy grin and took a big breath feeling as though a weight had lifted off of his shoulders. No need to be so shy.

I can also help in any other way you need me to. You have my word. He hoped she would let him help in more ways than one. Moss gazed thoughtfully down at the pups that weren't his. He couldn't help but think of the future and what might become. It was always like him to get attached to others before he knew if he had a good thing coming...and he usually ended up on the rocky edge of things. But, Moss was also the type to take a gamble on something that made him happy. Nothing could make him more happy then having a family, even if it wasn't his own.

Moss brightened up as if the sun had decided to pick that moment to shine down on just him. Terra's own tail wagged behind her, delighted that she was going to have someone help bring her food, someone that seemed deeply interested in helping out. Terra didn't question it, just taking advantage of what was offered for her. Terra rarely looked deeper than the surface for most things, accepting life as it was without question.

You can't just come and go in the territory as a loner. That did worry her. What if someone found him sniffing around and decided to hurt him? His offer of helping her in other ways pushed that thought right out of her head, whining happily. There wasn't much she needed help with right now, beyond food and entertainment for herself. Thanks! She reached over, licking briefly at Moss before turning back, settling the pups into the den. She'd shift back and join them once he was gone.

out of character here

The young mother rose a very impending problem if he were to keep coming to see her and the pups and help out. His ears flicked back when he realized once again that this wasn't his pack, nor his home. For a moment he felt strange sitting there knowing he wasn't welcomed. He had been hesistant to enter even with her dragging him in here and would have to howl for her every time he came or returned from a hunt. That's true. I forgot we were in pack lands for a while. He couldn't keep coming in here if he wasn't part of the pack. What do we do about that? Well, he could join for one thing then he would have a pack and a family. He would be able to be here for Terra every step of the way. The thought brought a little excitement from him though he wasn't sure about the idea. He'd only just came to Nova Scottia.

The canine kisses were accepted happily. Moss seemed to have a permanent smile on his face when he was around Terra and her pups. Again, it's not a problem. Not at all. He'd completely forgotten that this wasn't his home, or that he was alone in this world. He'd forgotten about Eilam who hadn't shown his face since he was here. The broken spirit knew his boundaries and would never do anything to harm or scare anyone. Although he seemed to cause Moss a great amount of problems, the problems never stretched beyond him. Moss was grateful for that and so he dealt with the terrible memories Eilam inflicted on him and kept the spirit company. Moss looked around wondering if maybe Eilam had been somewhere. In the shadow of the trees beyond the den he could see the glowing eyes of the dark coated wolf peering over at him. He truly was a scary sight but if one knew he was harmless they might accept him. Moss immediately looked away from the dark mist like ghost and back to Terra before she noticed he was looking at anything. He didn't want to raise suspicions and possible ruin what he had going with her.

Terra considered the problem, wondering what they could possibly do about it. She couldn't simply accept him into the pack, or she would have done that already. She could ask the alpha for permission for him to come and go, but why would he allow that without him joining the pack? Would Moss be willing to join? She didn't know. Perhaps she shouldn't have thought of that question. Then she could have just feigned ignorance over the entire matter.

Tail wagging Terra glanced around. She didn't see anything out of place. Perhaps he was just thinking more on it. What do you want to do? She couldn't leave the pack. Not with her pups as young and vulnerable as they were. They had to stay put. And so did she. If they were going to solve the problem they'd have to come up with something else. Was it right to put that thinking on him? He had already sacrificed for her.

out of character text

The problem had a arose and now they had to find a way to solve it. The biggest and most effective solution was to simply join. Terra asked what he wanted to do about it. Well, he wasn't sure right now. All he knew is that he wanted to be here for her and the puppies and to do that, he needed to enter the border whenever he needed to in order to get them food and other things. He couldn't remain inside the border for an extended period of time without permission from the Alphas. Moss may have not been part of a pack for a long while, but he knew the rules and would obey them. He wasn't one to cause trouble. Moss nervously brought a hand to rub the side of his neck and his shoulder. It was a big step for him to take, to join a pack he knew nothing about. Well...I could join your pack. I mean...I've been a loner for a very long time now and it'd be a great change if I had a family again. That way, I could be in the borders without permission or punishment.

The thing was, it was a very big commitment and one had to be trustworthy of his pack mates. After what Moss had been through, knowing who he could and couldn't trust had become a major issue. His last pack had basically blamed him for something that he didn't do, then banished him without so much as a word from him about the truth. They wouldn't have listened either way because to them, he was nothing more than dirt, a dirty no for good liar whom couldn't be trusted. The only reason he was in the pack for as long as he was, was because his parents loved him and he was thought to be the reincarnation of a past leader. Moss sighed, still nervously twitching his ears and rubbing his scruff. It was a huge decision to make in such a short time. This was his first time inside of the borders and he hadn't met a single soul who lived here other than Terra and her pups. What do you think? I would be willing if you think it is a good idea, otherwise I'll just call for you when I come. It would be tedious but I want to help.

She could smell his nervousness, and she couldn't blame him. Terra wanted him to be there with her, but asking him to join her pack? She couldn't bring herself to do that. She couldn't give him that burden to bear. He would have to ask for it himself, move to do so. His words brought a slow wag from her tail, happy that he was considering it. Having family wasn't something Terra thought often about. There were her pups, but it wasn't the same. She'd left her own family without any thought.

His points were given well. He wanted to help and be with her, and the convenience of joining was greater. If you join, I'll do my best to make sure that you don't regret it. Terra owed him that much. He'd already given much of himself to Terra, and she loved that gentle affection. She would return it however she could. Having him join the pack would be a wonderful wish, being able to play with him all the time, and hunt.
