fall into the dark

The Gamma, unfortunately, found himself in a predicament.

Shandom whined lowly, alabaster ears flicked back against his large skull as he examined the world from this particular perspective. His back right leg had strangely given out beneath him as the pale Gamma moved across the New Dawn lands, a silent wraith with little intention besides the sheer paradise of movement. It was one of the few times he could find solace in his own mind; this wonderful blank slate, however, had given way to the strange sensation of being entirely tipped upside down. He wasn't a fan.

Grumbling to himself, the older wolf picked his aging body up from the ground and examined what on earth he'd fallen into. It appeared, upon closer examination, to be something along the lines of a den; Shandom couldn't quite understand why it would be in this particular location. There was no security, and nothing that would make it even remotely appealing to one of the many expectant mothers in New Dawn. The Gamma kicked a bit of dirt into the hole before deciding the project would take too long; even with his impaired vision, the alabaster man could now see several other mounds that marked these strange little dens. Women, he murmured to himself before placing his black nose against the ground to deign the identity of the perpetrator.

It was Palaydrian, the Omega female he did not know well but enjoyed regardless. She was the mate of Jiva, if he were not mistaken; Shandom didn't know either creature particularly well, but he loved them regardless. Such was the way of New Dawn - a family for those who needed one. Shandom loved it, in his own way, but he found himself missing Naniko as he thought of pups and matehood. Seeing her at the Anatheman borders with Zalen had been miserable enough. At some point, Shandom would have to go back and see her.

The white woman filled his thoughts as he trotted along the scent line. Had he not had a definitive mission, Shandom would have absolutely physically run into Palaydrian; luckily, he instead found her digging yet another den. Perplexed, the Gamma woofed a quiet greeting to the Omega, ears perked eagerly forward. Sister, your holes are lovely, but I can't say I enjoy the view from falling into one. His voice was light and easy, but questioning; he was eager to know why, exactly, she was compelled to dig so many.
