She didn't want to enter the room. Her and the room were on opposite sides of things. Out here she was strong. In there was death. Adelle knew that if she entered it her grandpa wouldn't be on the bed sleeping. The place they had shared would be empty. The large dog stood outside, staring at the wooden door as if it was an enemy waiting to be slain. Growling a little she puffed herself up to be even more intimidating, hoping to stop the sorrow that threatened her.

Adelle couldn't do it. She was too weak. Her dream of being a warrior would have to be given up. She couldn't even get past a simple door. Whining she laid down, ears drooping as she considered her future. There was nothing but bleakness for her. No light to guide her. If she couldn't be a warrior, if she couldn't be brave, then what could she be? She'd sworn an oath! Before the entire pack. She couldn't turn away.
