It had been a few days since Thaddeus Dahmer left another place he intended to call home. Many hours of quiet reflection and he still couldn't surface above the shame he was drowning in. If he felt guilty for abandoning the Guild, leaving Jazper and the other pack members weighed on his conscience even more. But he couldn't do it. He had really thought himself ready to completely give up his old life, to throw himself into the hustle and bustle of pack activity. Everything he needed in order to keep his mind off his former home. But every night before he fell asleep his mind would be brimming with anxiety – he felt crowded and uncomfortable. It was frustrating, because the pack members had been welcoming and gracious to the new stranger. However, instead of finding comfort in their company he was retreating further into himself. It wasn't long before Dahmer realized he needed to get out – to spend some time alone while he sorted things out. So alone he was.

The day was just beginning to heat up as Dahmer moved out from under the embrace of the trees, loping across Shiloh Hills. He paused for a moment, allowing time for his eyes to adjust to the brightness. He hadn't come out from the trees for over a day, only seeing the sun through branches in beams filtered by the leaves. His morning was spent putting the finishing touches on his den and now he was happy to be out in open air. He took a deep breath and savoured the view while the sun warmed his back. Dahmer shook out his fur, leaning into a long stretch. A moment later and his form was streaking across the field, tail waving like a banner behind him. He changed directions often, thundering across the fields and leaping over the hills, no destination in mind. It was just about the run – he wanted to exhaust himself thoroughly so that when he attempted to sleep, he'd be too tired for his thoughts to haunt him. He wasn't hopeful, though – something told him that no matter how fast and far he ran, he wouldn't be able to escape the memories and regrets.
