(--) Dated to the 7th so I don't confuse myself! ouo On the coast of Shiloh Hills. Oh, oh! And the title is "Sunset/Sundown" in Russian. :3c

The forest was still and quiet. Aside from the crickets chirping and the soft wind slicing through the tall trees, no noise was stirring. It was a peaceful afternoon, the sun beginning to set on the horizon, and no clouds hung in the pink sky.

However, the silence was short lived as a loud whinny shattered through it, followed by the sound of thunderous galloping, and soon after a brown-spotted horse burst through the woods, his rider chuckling all the while. Vladislava was testing Dmitrii's speed, and although it took quite a bit of coercing before the Clydesdale broke into a full-fledged run, he was indeed faster than she had been expecting. "Быстрее!" the Russian urged, snapping at his reigns again. Though she doubted he could go quicker than this, it was worth a try. After all, if she pushed Dmitrii to his limit, it would eventually help him learn that speed was key.

The European soon saw the beach near the end of the thick forest, and decided to call it quits there. She pulled at his ropes as they exited the woods, coming into the bay, and Dmitrii obediently slowed into a trot. Vlad steered him toward the water, and stopped him completely when his legs were in the ocean, his hooves under the water by just a few inches. The horse snorted and neighed, still excited from the workout he just received, and swished his head around as if to release his pent-up energy.

The Kalashnikov heir merely smiled at him, her pink-padded paws resting on his neck. "That was good," she whispered in his ear, praising him for his work, "That was excellent. Great run, Dmitrii." She patted his neck again before turning her green eyes to the sea, sighing at the beautiful scene before her. Though the sun was on the other side of the sky, its rays still radiated onto the ocean, and the light danced across the water brilliantly. The salty air and crashing of the waves began to sooth her as she relaxed her muscles. It had been a good day for the wolfess and her new companion, though the thought of Amy Sunders still lay fresh in her mind. The dark girl decided she would head down to see Aro for Sunders' pay sometime soon, but for now, she would remain near the sea. The breeze from the ocean ran through her mane and fur, filling her with a satisfied emotion, as she continued to stare out at the water, her mind fading to a blank.

Sorry for the wait! :c I had a post written up on my phone, but stupid thing didn't save. Hover for Turkish translations!

Levent Kartal had decided it was a good idea to go riding on the shoreline, too—but this was work rather than rollicking on the beach. He shifted his scrawny body in the saddle to keep balance as the paint mare began to twist around, her teeth reaching to grab him before he commanded her in the horse tongue to go onward. Thrashing her head, her blue eyes set with a frightening resolve, she bolted down through the shallows, hooves kicking up water and wet sand both. She made another sharp turn, and he gripped the reins until his fingers ached, his claws digging into the pads of his palm. Eventually, she slowed down and snorted, and he let out a heavy sigh. It wasn’t quite an admission of defeat, but he was quick to scramble off her back and land in the sand on his butt—still preferable to being thrown from the saddle again.

Then again, it could have been worse. He’d noticed that Mai calmed when near the water, and it did her temperament wonders when it came to permitting a rider on her back. As she’d just demonstrated, it didn’t turn her into a perfect angel, but the fact that he’d been able to ride her for so long was testament to the calming effect of the waves. Once he let her free, she ambled only as far as the grass on the shoreline to graze. Licking his lips, Levent wondered how she could tolerate the taste of so much salt; it made him sick.

“Are you going to be able to even travel tomorrow, mate?” came an amused meow from a safe perch on the stones. Backlit by the sun resting on the hills, the cat looked almost a dark, pinkish grey rather than white. He waved his tail jauntily when the Turkish wolf came over, setting down beside him and stretching his back.

“Probably not,” Levent answered honestly. “But we don’t really need to keep moving that quickly.” He brushed some hair out of his eyes that had escaped from his colorful headband, staring out at the sea. It was still touched by the colors of the sunset, but perhaps not with the same intensity he had grown used to over the past few months. On the other side of the peninsula, in Cercatori d’Arte, the sun had sank into the water; here, on the eastern coast, he knew it’d emerge from the ocean instead. It wasn’t something he was used to, and the thoughts and their associated images made him melancholy before a sharp mew from the tom brought him back to the present.

He scowled and followed his wide amber gaze. “What is—o aptal atı! he growled, scrambling back to his feet in alarm as he saw that the mare had wandered off and was trotting, head and tail high, along the beach. He exchanged a quick glance with Wilson then ran after her, calling to her in low speech and probably sounding absolutely ridiculous doing it. When he finally caught up with her, though, she’d stopped and was staring curiously at another equine on the beach: a spotted beast of draft hose descent. His gaze flicked from the large animal to its caretaker, a dark she-wolf, and he cleared his throat as he grabbed for Mai’s reins.

“İyi akşamlar, hanımefendi,” Levent said, nodding in greeting and managing not to sound as awkward as he felt.

(--) It's fine 8D

The light emitting from the sun onto the ocean gave it a sort of sparkling quality—not quite shining, no, but just shimmering slightly. Waves came in and withdrew again, an intoxicating sound, if you were drugged by it enough, and Vladislava felt her eyes shift to the skies. The heavens were the same pink shade they had been earlier when she and her horse arrived, though she could tell some time had passed. The sky was a darker tint now, hinting that the pair had been standing in the water for a while now, and the Russian began considering to head on back to her cozy little forest. Nightfall was sure to come in half and hour or so, and with the sun already dipping behind the rolling hills, she knew it wouldn't be too long until darkness fell over the land like freshly fallen snow. Something about the thought of traveling home in the dead of night didn't appeal to her very much, and she mentally nodded in agreement with herself, and grabbed at Dmitrii's reigns.

Her actions were suddenly halted as a foreign language from afar was picked up in her ears. She turned her head toward her left, green eyes blinking, tail slightly curling in curiosity. What tongue were those words being spoken in? Her hands slowly slid from the Clydesdale's ropes as her head slightly tilted. It wasn't like any of the languages she had heard of. It certainly didn't seem like any European phrases she had picked up, nor any English ones for that matter. Was it a language of the South Americas? Perhaps a Nomad or gypsie was the source of the tongue speaking, but would one really wander this far up North? Then again, it mattered not—as she saw a mare soon come trotting down the beach and a man running after her, Vladislava's eyebrow slowly rose. She assumed the horse was his, but restricted her mind from classifying him beyond that. She would judge only if needed.

And then he spoke to her in a seemingly different language, though this one was a bit more familiar. Not by much, however, as she was only fluent in Russian and English, but it seemed as though his to tongue was from the same general area as the Motherland. "Добрый вечер," she replied, a warm smile reaching her lips. She gradually slipped off of Dmitrii's sadle and into the mid-knee deep water, her dark tail flicking over to the side. She doubted this man knew Russian, so she decided to go a bit more basic. English was the common tongue here, so she would try that instead. "English?" she asked simply, her eyes briefing looking back at her own horse before darting into the male Luperci's again.

Whewwwt! 8D

There were manifold things that go wrong with the horse that, he was forced to admit, he didn’t know that well. However, he’d come to learn that, however temperamental she was around luperci, Mai did not have a real problem with other equines. Her blue eyes fixed on the stallion with curiosity rather than malice, and she let out a not-so-certain whicker of greeting even as Levent stood beside her, petting the white patch on her side.

The dark-colored she-wolf replied with a greeting that was unmistakably Russian, and the man thought of his Russo friend before banishing the memories from his mind; it would not do to dwell on Cercatori d’Arte when he was fighting to break free from its hold. Once she slid from the saddle into the water, he was able to better guess at her height—the conclusion being that she was taller than him, just like every wolf was taller than him. It had ceased long ago to be a disturbing fact, and his slouching as he stood beside his horse only made him look shorter.

The woman’s pretty seafoam-green eyes landed on him, and she spoke a single word in question, causing him to smile. “Of course,” he agreed, his accent only lightly flavoring his speech rather than marring it. He could speak English as fluently as a native, after all, even if he did lapse into his father’s language to add a spark to his character. It made him harder to forget, at least, and that had always served him well overseas.

“That’s a nice horse,” Levent said conversationally, eyes lingering on the beast. “I’ll have to apologize in advance for my own; I haven’t quite broken her in yet.”

The paint chose that moment—intentionally, he had no doubt—to reach over and nip at his arm, causing him to drop the reins to keep from getting bitten. Her ear position, posture, and grouchy noises told him clearly what she thought about the prospect of “being broken,” and he had to grin, mimicking the horse way of communicating to tease her before she returned to intently staring at the male.

(--) OOC here.

Vlad saw the mare was watching her horse, and curiously looked back at Dmitrii to see if he would return her greeting neigh. The Clydesdale turned to see the other equine, and whinnied softly in return, causing the Russian'a grin to widen. Perhaps Dmitrii could make a new friend—the pair hadn't been near many other horses, so this was a treat for the steed.

The man soon answered her question, his drawl only slightly peppered with a foreign accent, and Vladislava nodded at this. She had guessed most in Nova Scotia would know the English language, but one could never be too sure, right? "Oh, thank you," she said after the male Luperci had commented on Dmitrii. She soon walked her horse—and herself—out of the water and back onto dry land, and crossed her arms behind her back. "Yours is rather pretty as well. Such intriguing eyes..." The other Luperci then stated his own horse wasn't that broken in yet, and Vlad understood. Her family had owned a horse back in Moscow that she had helped tame before she left, so she knew the feeling, but since Dmitrii had already been broken-in—the previous owner of him, she reasoned, must've trained him for trade—she didn't really have to worry about him wandering off or disobeying her.

She was about to respond to his words until his mare tried to bite at his arm, and the man had swiftly lowered his arm before any damage was done. The Kalashnikov heiress was quick to silence her tongue as she watched the two with a slightly arched brow, but it soon lowered as she ran a pink-pawed hand through her mane. She decided to drop the subject altogether and start afresh, and would begin with something as basic as kindergarten. "My name is Vladislava Kalashnikov," she asserted, bowing her head to the man briefly before resting her hand on her steed's back. "This is Dmitrii. It is a pleasure to meet you."

Mai seemed flustered once she received the attention she’d sought from the stallion, and Levent had to laugh; unfortunately, the mare understood this laughter and returned to her bad-tempered silence, though one ear remained fixed on the draft animal in hopes of maybe hearing another horse hello.

The Russian led her stallion out of the water, and Levent wondered if the water was especially nice; he’d had plenty of contact with the wet sand after being thrown off the temperamental tobiano, but the water itself might feel soothing. If only he wasn’t paranoid about getting washed away in it.

He smirked. “Very pretty,” he said, running his fingers along the mare’s neck. “And very stubborn, and very much not worth it. But I’ve gotten myself into worse situations.” He gave Mai a pat, which in hindsight might have been seen as condescending and prompted her to nip. He was aware that the woman was staring at this interaction, and he tried not to feel embarrassed; he wasn’t used to caring what others thought, after all. But, Levent had learned that it was better to be underestimated; his overall game plan relied on it.

The dark grey woman introduced herself as Vladislava and her steed as Dmitrii, and Levent had to grin. “I’m Levent Kartal,” he replied, then gave the mare one last pat that had her snorting. “Mai,” he continued, and then flicked his ears back when he heard a questioning little mew behind him. “And this is Wilson,” he concluded, reaching down to scoop the white tomcat up in his arms. He rubbed between his friend’s ears then threw Vladislava a grin.

“So what brings you to lovely little Nova Scotia?”

(--) Ahhhh I had the perfect post ready for this and then I had to close out and refresh the whole browser because it was messing up DDD:>

Vladislava saw the man chuckle at his mare's startled reaction to Dmitrii's greeting whinny, and couldn't help but smile at this. Her sea green eyes floated back to her steed and she patted his head, gesturing to the other equine, and the Clydesdale blinked. He soon looked at the blue-eyed horse again, and another, but fairly louder whicker came from him, but Vlad couldn't exactly infer what this neigh meant, as she was far too uneducated in low speech. She assumed it was something polite, though, for she knew Dmitrii was a gentle creature.

With a grin the other Luperci stated a few unpleasant things about his animal, but then finished his words with a claim that he had been in worse situations. This sentence caused the Russian's curiosity to pique, wondering what other troubling happenings had proven more headache-infusing than a stubborn mare, but she soon reminded her self a bit dully that there were countless other things that were worse than a hardheaded horse, and decided it best not to ask. Not now, at least. Maybe if she could build more trust in him, she would bring it up again, but for now, she merely offered a grin in understanding, signalling that she comprehended his current situation with his steed.

A name, Levent, was soon given, as well as the title of his horse, whose name was Mai. A third and final introduction was also made after a soft mew came from behind the man, and her dark ears pricked up to the noise as green eyes darted to a pale cat. Levent picked up the feline, stating that the tomcat's name was Wilson, and Vlad's muzzle bowed politely at this. A question she didn't enjoy answering soon was asked, though, and her beam faltered. She paused, contemplating how she could go about this without causing much internal pain at the thought of her beloved family in Russia, and soon came up with a reasonable explanation to satisfy his question. "My life at my homeland was not living up to my expectations, so I decided to sail across the ocean to distant territories." Though her choice of words wasn't the best to describe her reasons for leaving the Motherland, it was still relatively true in the longrun. When faced with taking over the family business, she was quick to start and attempt to run away, though all her first plans ended miserably with failure. When she had the chance to sail away in a western Russian port, though, she did manage to squeeze out of her eventual fate. She was often faced with the question of whether or not Nova Scotia was what she wanted, but she always could justify her reasons behind leaving in her mind, and after looking at Dmitrii again, she pushed the thoughts away. Her eyes drifted to Levent again, and she spoke.

"May I ask what yours were, unless these lands have forever been your home?"
