OOC Laughs

The death of the pups had been hard. Dalgina had thought of them as her own siblings, had grown to love them. She had never been too close with them, knowing how protective Taru was, but she had been close to them when she could be. The pictures she had drawn of them when they'd been born had been hidden away in the house, too painful to look at. Ovi had left her alone, feeling the growing distance inside Dalgina. It was getting harder and harder for her to go out and connect with others, the weight of loss heavy on her heart.

Dalgina wasn't the one that had been hurt the worst by this. For Dalgina this was just one more tragedy in her young life to sorrow over and not understand. For Taru, it had been the end of the world. Dalgina didn't know how to cheer her up, just staying close to her room in the house and wishing that she knew how to fix it. When Dalgina did leave she'd noticed Fawkes following her, something that had her even more worried about leaving Taru alone. Fawkes was her closest friend, her eyes. If he was with Dalgina, what was Taru doing?

The death of her puppies was a crushing mental blow the the blind female. Loosing her own offspring was as bad as loosing her entire pack and even worse than having her eyesight taken from her. Hotaru had grown and become stronger because of her past wounds, but she didn't know if she could recover from the most recent one. How could one recover from the death of their puppies? Hotaru didn't know, nor did she really want to find out.

With Aiden and Aysun dead, and Levent in the wind, the only one the grieving mother had left to call family was Dalgina. To her, Dalgina was like her own puppy. She had been their for many of the pup's major milestones and had opened up her home when Dalgina needed it most. The thought gave Hotaru comfort, but also scared her to no end. What if she lost the young female as well? What if something happened to Dalgina and she too left this world? The very idea was almost paralyzing, so Hotaru had Fawkes follow Dalgina around, for the pup's own safety.

Hotaru had awoken from a restless nap, her heckles raised and her heart pounding. In her dreams, the blind female could see everything; all of her loved one dead on the ground, and Levent blaming her just as she had blamed him. "Dalgina!" Hotaru's voice shook, the fear leaking from her body like a waterfall. She had to know if Dalgina was alright. Stumbling out of her room, Hotaru quickly tasted the air. "Dalgina! Where are you!" Wing beats and worried chirps surrounded Hotaru, and she reached over to feel Kelia's soft feathers. Fawkes had landed on her shoulder and gently tugged at one of her ears. It was somewhat comforting, knowing that at least her birds were alright.

She wasn't far, just outside the door. She'd been talking quietly to Tehu, wondering what they could do for Taru. He was really the only one she was talking much to, her conversations with Ovi dwindling into silence where she would just be with him. He didn't deserve it. Dalgina had to do something, anything to make things better with him. He was such a good friend, always there for her. She couldn't just abuse him. Right now though, Taru needed her.

Standing she moved over to Taru, one hand shyly reaching out to touch Taru's shoulder. Here. She didn't say much more, just seeing the fear in Taru's eyes. Was she even eating? Dalgina didn't know. She couldn't remember the last time she'd eaten either, but she wasn't hungry. Perhaps it was a rabbit, or a squirrel. Or some vegetables that had been harvested and brought in. She had been eating. Dalgina was fairly certain of that.

Hotaru could smell Dalgina, her scent was strong and healthy, yet Hotaru couldn't help but fear for the black female. Dalgina could have just left, or she could be getting sick. Something could happen to the young wolf, something that would take her away. Dalgina was like her daughter; even if they weren't blood related, the blind female felt naturally inclined to protect her.

Footsteps caught the blind wolf's attention, and her ears flicked as she listened to Dalgina's approach. There was a sense of relief that swelled over her, one that only increased exponentially when she felt the warm pressure of Dalgina's hand on her shoulder. Raising her own dexterous paw, she grasped the yearling's hand and squeezed lightly. A worried smile drifted across her face, but the tension that had collected in her muscles relaxed a bit. Dalgina was there, she was safe.

"So you are. How are you feeling?" It was a question Hotaru must have asked a thousand times in the past few days, but no matter how many times she asked, she always had to ask again. Hotaru could hear the squawks of the three birds as the spoke among themselves in low speech. Mostly, their conversation was about their master's, the wolves. Thanks to Kelia, Hotaru had been eating, if only a little.

OOC Laughs

Dalgina would have withdrawn her hand and gone back to her shell, but Taru kept her hand trapped there, enclosed and squeezed in her own. She couldn't pull away now. Not when Taru needed this comfort as much as she did. Dalgina wanted the warmth of another, even when she felt guilty for it. Her family had fallen apart, Taru's pups were dead and her closest friend was hurting. Yet all she wanted to do was curl up and be snuggled close as if everything was alright. Knowing that giving in would only hurt Taru worse she smiled, glad that Taru couldn't see the conflict in her eyes.

Listening to the birds carefully Dalgina thought about what to answer. Taru had to eat more. Maybe she'd be more willing if she ate with Dalgina. I'm okay. A little hungry. Tehu's sharp eyes fell to Dalgina, chirping a question. Shrugging Dalgina looked up to the flock of birds of prey. Do you think you could get some rabbits for me and Taru? It would be good, even if it was a small something. Dalgina wanted to feel useful, even when she knew that she didn't truly have the strength to repair anything.

It wasn't Hotaru's intention to trap Dalgina, she just wanted some contact with another. As a social creature, the wolf's instincts drove her to others. The urge to be with others was strong, but Dalgina was really the only one Hotaru wished to be with. The young female was like a daughter to her and even though it wasn't fair, Hotaru knew she could rely on the black wolf. They were close friends and there were times when Hotaru forgot that Dalgina was just a child.

Dalgina's voice showed no weakness and she spoke of being slightly hungry. Hotaru's ears twitched as she wondered if there was any dried meat left. Tehu was quick to pick up the request though as his master asked for some rabbits. "Kelia, Fawkes, how about the two of you help Tehu?" Affirmative chirps came from the two predators and with a flutter of wingbeats they were off. Hotaru listened for a moment as the soft thud of wings hitting air receded into the distance. With all three working together, they would be back soon.

Releasing Dalgina's hand, the blind female made her way over to the couch that wasn't far off, letting herself sag slightly into the old furniture. "I'm glad to hear that you fine. Just... if you ever feel... off, let me know alright." Hotaru couldn't bring herself to say sick, but the hint of fear in her voice made the connotation obvious. "How is your latest painting going?"

Tehu was quick to obey her orders, Kelia and Fawkes right behind him. With all three of them looking they'd hopefully get a good meal from this. Dalgina's brown eyes tracked them as they entered the forest, each one hunting slightly differently, though it was clear to tell that Fawkes had influenced both of the younger birds. Hopefully Dalgina's request to not eat alone would get Taru to snack on something, and the warm food would definitely brighten the chances of that. It would be hard to ignore the delicious taste once it was in her mouth.

Dalgina felt the lose of Taru's hand quite painfully. It was a conflicting feeling. Dalgina wanted to stay close to Tehu and bask in her warmth. On the other hand she didn't want anything more than to be alone, without the pressures of being expected to protect and care for those around her. It would be nice to not have that burden for a short time. The young wolf moved to join Taru on the couch, curling up comfortably at the far end to resist the temptation of curling into Taru's body. It was better, more comfortable this way anyways. I will. My art's going well. I'm drawing some of the forest. Her paintings had taken a darker turn recently when the female bothered painting at all recently, but she wouldn't tell Taru that.
