[html]have an upset alder
Calico Grove, just one please. Smile

Hawthorn road steadily, a gallop that was faster then the normal canter that was ask of him during most of the pair's travels. Alder pushed the large horse, giving the encouragement in low-speech and the commands through the heal of his foot-paw. New fall-air whipped passed them, picking up the shaggy short furs of his main and the long stands of matching black hair that belonged to the horse.

Early morning, his favorite time to ride, brought little relief for the male that had been so troubled since his argument with Trent. He woke with the same frustration that he had bedded, and it was verging on something quite aggravating. Alder was not one to be heated, and such a thing had only happened once before in his lifetime. Trent had shown his face in the stables and from that moment forward he had prodded at Alder's emotions. He had not thought the coyote hybrid to be so bold, only having met him while he was weak and new to the pack, but Alder's first impressions of him had to have been wrong.

Urging Hawthorn further the pair traveled deep into the lands of the Court, the King's Woods if it were to be given a name Alder supposed. The lands in which the pack took it's prey, but the male had no desire for hunting. Hawthorn slowed as they entered the wood, a forest the place for uneven ground with thick brush and surprising roots. Though the rider did not urge him faster, he was aggravated by the slow and common pace. To ease his tension he looked through the trees, watching for anything that might surprise the two beasts.

Perhaps he would encounter a stranger, or better yet a trespasser that needed to be told to leave the world of Cour des Miracles less they wished to be trampled by the shire horse. The thought passed through his mind, and he was not left with an eager satisfaction but a even darker gloom. The masked male was not that sort of creature, and he was unnerved at the sheer thought let alone the image he imagined. The forest thinned at one point, and then he saw the grove. Thick with trees, the undergrowth was nil and the shade of the sun almost stark and cold. he entered it, his thoughts driven by the need to direct 'Thorn through the less narrow pathways between the dense trees.

OOC here.

Terra was a lucky creature. For her, life was straight forward. Care for her pups, play with her pups, go out and hunt, goof off, then return and look after her pups for the rest of the day. They were starting to follow after her, though it was only short trips. Small demonstrations on how to build an effective trap had been given to them, though she was fairly sure neither would remember it when they were older. It was the basics, the start of small lessons they would need when older.

The sound of a horse sent the pups hiding into the bushes. Terra's own sleek form leaped out of the way, perking up to see what was happening. Alder! And that horse of his, the one she never quite remembered properly. What was he up to? Curious Terra murmured softly to her pups, making sure they understood to stay put, and raced after him. Her form quickly changed, abandoning her smooth lupine form for the more powerful secui. It wasn't one she used often, but it made her feel better about approaching something that could potentially crush her.

Running through Terra was glad that the horse was sticking to wider paths. Keeping up with him through bushes and the like would have been a lot easier. Alder! She did her best to keep up, pushing herself as quickly as she could so she was on the horse's heels. Alder! What are you doing? What he did with horses usually confused her anyways, but this seemed a little out of character even for as little as she knew.

The grove was a beautiful place, and the Marshal would have noticed if he was looking more clearly. He would have also noticed the scents of creatures down upon the ground if he had been looking more closely. But, he was distracted and trying hard to direct Hawthorn through the trees. It wasn’t until a voice was shouting his name that Alder woke from the daze. The feminine call made him pause, and he look down to see the sand and earth hued woman below. Terra. Alder spoke, surprise in his voice. He halted the horse and dismounted swiftly. She looked larger, and he figured that she must be hunting in her secui form.

Getting away from everything, I guess. He replied, a hand running through his mane and eyes avoiding her face. One of the last times that he had seen her he had chased her from the pasture, making sure she was not hunting the horses. I apologize if we startled you. It was not always fair that he had the power of the shire beneath him, while others did not. It was not his intention to trample any creature that was a member or friend to the court.

The surprise in his tone brought a wry grin from her. It wasn't often they were near each other. Once she'd figured out that horses weren't good to eat Terra had given up on the mystery of why others were so fond of them. It was too difficult to go into the barn without developing a sudden craving for easy meat. Not that the horses weren't capable of defending themselves. Terra just didn't know how to get along with prey that didn't see her as a predator ready to eat them.

He came off the large horse, Terra feeling better now that they were on the same level. Sitting down she panted, looking over the hot horse. How did it run like that for so long? Terra could eat a lot of distance at a quick trot, but a flat out run like that always left her panting for water. Not easy to keep track of everyone below you when you're up like that I suppose. Tilting her head Terra moved a little so she could see his expressions better. What are you running from?

At times he did loose sight of what was happening beyond the view he had sitting atop a horse, Alder supposed just as Terra did. He had also lost sight what happened beyond the stables as well, beyond the world of horses. He didn’t know what caused him to be so angry or why he had wanted to race out into the middle of the pack lands. Maybe he hoped that it would clear his head. It was hard to make sense of it all.

He shook his head, unable to pin point the cause nor very willing to expose too much of his emotions when everything was so confusing. The presence of the woman eased him though, oddly. The last time they had spoken Alder had been chastising her for chasing and attempting to eat the horses, and now he was finding his anger change in her presence. Just needed a break away from things, in the stables. In the pack… in his head…

Hawthorn leaned his head into Alder’s shoulder. He took a step forward, and gave a sigh. Do you ever just need a break? He asked, as he looked back at her.

She waited patiently, curiosity flicking through her. The coyote was acting as if she had all the time in the world, though it was certainly not true. Sooner or later she'd have to return to collect her pups. She couldn't just dump them somewhere and expect them to flourish. It was only because of how unusual Alder's behavior had struck her as that she'd bothered leaving them at all. His answer was very evasive, not clearing up her question in the slightest.

Tilting her head Terra puzzled over his question. A break? To just get away from my regular life you mean? Terra didn't exactly stop going. Ever. The only times she'd been slowed down was when her leg had been broken and when she'd been too pregnant to keep going. I do go off sometimes and do other things just because I can. It was nice to break out of routines and be spontaneous. Not that she exactly had routines or habits, the perpetual wanderer that she was.

Alder only nodded at her question, for that was what he meant. Her reply was something that he wasn’t expecting, the simplicity of it. She probably left the territory, just like he should have done. A visit with his mother would calm his anger or a long talk with his brother would sooth his insecurities. But no, he didn’t want them to know either. He wasn’t sure that he could even explain what his problem was to begin with. Yet the mystery had such a hold on him.

I had an argument with another pack member, Trent. he confessed suddenly. He left the side of the horse and walked to the nearest fallen log and sat on it. There was no use hiding what shamed him so, it was too apparent that he was upset and it was so infrequent that he felt this way coping with it felt impossible. It was foolish, and I just need to clear my head. He admitted. Being what he thought to be clearer, Alder fell silent.

They weren't close to each other. Even if one swallowed down the lies and agreed that they got along with each other no one would believe that they were friends. Terra didn't see horses as more than food. Alder saw them as some of his closest friends. Their lives just didn't intersect. She still sat there, listening to him speak. He was pack, and that meant something to her. Her words were perhaps not as useful to Alder as they'd be if she understood him better, but she did want to try.

His words surprised Terra. A lot. Stifling down a sudden case of the giggles the coyote did her best to continue listening to what the problem was. She did agree that it was foolish, though probably for very different reasons than him. For one, it was an argument with Trent. Shy bumbling submissive Trent. How would he even get up enough guts to argue? She knew he had an opinion, but picturing him arguing with anyone, and what it had to be to make him argue, was pretty humorous. Trent. As in the hybrid Trent? The one who's always super eager to prove himself and tends to trip over his own paws? Perhaps it was a different Trent he was talking about.
