Harvey

With the announcement of their departure, they were off.

The large female had started toward the city, causing Harvey to pace himself accordingly to keep up with her. Her stride seemed to cover more ground than his, or maybe it was due to his already sore legs, either way, he was by her side soon and smiling.

I know of some place we can look first, I do. The red merle Australian shepherd spoke up, giving his blotched head a slight nod, 'Ave ran 'cross me share of old clovin' an' such. Per'aps ya can find somefin' soon enough t' 'ave ya 'eadin' back 'fore dark. If not... The British gentleman shrugged. If not, if ya don't feel comfortable walkin' alon, I could escort ya back 'ome, if ya fancy tha'.

It wasn't something he hoped for, but that was only because he wanted to rest for a tad longer than he'd gotten to, but, if he were to join her in heading back north, he could travel more and cover the land he planned to in a future time. That way, when he finally returned to Halifax, he'd be less apt to go off on his journey, allowing him a longer sort of relaxation period.

Come to think of it, he may, if his legs permitted him, join Adelle northward anyway... If that was alright with her, of course.

Wouldn't be t' awful t' 'ave company on the trip, no? He sort of hinted, glancing at his company as they made their way to the distant ruined city. Might as well make the best of the journey, and silence for too long was often uncomfortable. Somebo'y t' talk to, protection... 'Ell, maybe somefin' t' keep ya up durin' the walk, yeh? The cockney dog said with a light chuckle. He wouldn't be too upset if his offer was rejected, but he just wanted to make sure and show her that he really didn't mind (and may actually appreciate) taking her back home.

OOC: powerplay the next couple hours for the trip to halifax?

Harvey took a moment to catch up to her. Adelle adjusted her pace to something slower, looking over sympathetically at the city dwelling dog. He wasn't made for things the way she was. The touch of wolf blood in her stream only made Adelle even stronger, ready to adapt to the wilderness with a form that had been bred just for hard work. Adelle looked over at him cheerfully as he chattered. He was a pretty good companion to have. They could just chat the entire way there. Adelle wouldn't have to worry about awkward silences at all with him. Unless he just happened to mention her grandpa, and the chances of that were slim.

Old clothing isn't bad, but I need leather. Real leather. His offer was sweet. Adelle was a trained warrior though, and very large. She could take care of herself. She didn't need anyone to escort her or protect her. Adelle was just taking him along for company, so she wouldn't be by herself. That, and he knew the city. Adelle didn't know it very well at all. She'd probably get lost in it. He continued to chatter, Adelle laughing eventually. Sure! It'd be great to have company.

((303)) Sure, sounds good to me. Hope this is okay.

Though plenty of hours had come and gone, the time elapsed felt significantly less than what was reality.

Harvey thought it was most likely due to the company, but he also somewhat feared that though the trip felt shorter to him, his near constant running trap quite possibly made the journey not only longer, but agonizing for his company.

The red merle aussie dog decided to shrug it off, smiling a tad nervously, but getting to the point anyway. Well, dis is it! We're 'ere... Harv announced confidently, holding his arms apart somewhat with his palms facing outward, as if presenting the city to Adelle like a gift, or special hiding place.

I do 'ope I didn't manage t' talk your ear off, love. He finally apologized, feeling guilty now that he was probably far too overexcited for the more serious seeming female. I jus' guess you're pre'y easy t' talk t'. 'Ope tha' doesn't change your mind 'bout me walkin' back wif' ya, neivah, but... If it does, I can understand tha'. He didn't let the fact that be may have been bothersome worry him. He apologized, and that was all he could do from this point, so, he smiled and kept on with the initial plan.

The Brit crosses his arms, looking around the ruins and rubble of the once functioning city. Hm... Where t' look first. He would have probably mumbled something along the lines of Leather, leather... whilst searching, to remind himself of his goal, but he knew full well that it wouldn't come out as others would say, and for once, he felt awkward about his accent.

Again, he shrugged off his assumption, starting off in one direction, toward an abandoned store of sorts. Come on, may be best t' check 'bout 'fore it gets too late, now.

Adelle listened cheerfully to his chatter. She didn't really mind. He had seen so much, and while Adelle shared what she could her knowledge was limited to fighting, and life in Casa. She didn't know much of the world beyond that. Harvey though, he knew so much! Adelle's mind expanded with thoughts of what London was like, and what it would be like to wander those streets. The city appeared almost magically, as if called forwards from Harvey's tales. She blinked, remembering that it was actually Halifax, and grinned happily.

Oh no, it was nice. I enjoyed it. She probably could have listened to him go on for a while longer before he stopped. You've seen a lot more than I have. Perhaps Adelle should travel and see the sights that he had. No, that would be irresponsible. She had to stay with her pack and care for them. It was the only thing that she had left. Adelle looked around the city. Where was she going to find leather? She figured that just starting to enter the buildings and look wasn't as good an idea as she'd originally imagined it was. Nodding her head Adelle kept up behind him, curiously looking into the store. There were clothes in there, so perhaps there would be leather.

Harvey

At first the factoid about him seeing more than the other was somewhat shocking, but after thinking more of the subject, Harvey could see where the statement could possibly be true. During times in which he found himself with nothing particularly constructive to do, he often chose to wander about the land, observing all he could and memorizing paths to certain locations, familiarizing himself with the areas. There was probably no doubt that he'd seen more than some, but he figured even young canine or pack members that had been in Nova Scotia longer than he had would still contain a much more vast knowledge of their home than the red merle Australian Shepherd.

Well, if Adelle enjoyed the running of his trap, then she was sure in for a treat, for the British individual rather fancied talking. Socializing of any sort was right up his alley, and if one got Harv on a topic he was interested in, he could talk your ear off (and he'd at least try with subject he was more ignorant over).

He cleared his throat, looking around now for any source of leather. So, uhm... Harvey nodded, eyes darting about the ruined building. Le's see what we can find for ya!

He moved ahead rapidly, high energy running off him. Adelle stared at him curiously as he headed off. Shaking her head Adelle followed. What had him so revved up? They were just hunting for leather. Entering she looked through the clothes, passing her hand through places that moths had eaten through. Some pieces looked almost as if they were in perfect condition. Truly unbelievable to look at. In awe she continued her way through the store, comparing the moth eaten ones to the ones barely touched. They felt strange, almost off in some way.

Shrugging she put the cloth down and kept going through. Her tail wagged with excitement when she saw some leather, only to sag down again at the holes in it. I don't get it. Why won't they eat some of the pieces? Why did they destroy the good leather? It was mainly frustration on that part, looking at what might have been useable destroyed beyond anything she could use it for. None of the sections were whole enough for her to cut gloves from.

Simply having company for any period of time was a pleasure to the optime aussie dog. Back in London, his companions were brutes, snarling at anything they didn't like and roughing about near constantly. If it wasn't the unappealing mutts always wandering about, the merle male found himself surrounded by annoyances. Rebellious women with overly feministic views, chatterboxes that rambled on about the most boring of subject (as even Harvey, the kind of talker he is, can find something amusing to flap his gap about, or else he'd keep it shut), or spiteful creatures that cursed his name because he simply wished to not be held down at the time, or perhaps he'd insulted them, or something trivial like that. This new group of acquaintances was rather handsome, compared.

Bi-coloured eyes searched through the clothing, padded fingers flipping through jackets like files in a cabinet. Nothing. A closet stood in the back, door ajar. He pulled it open more to find just as much behind the concealing plank of wood. Anything that resembled leather seemed to be littered with holes, the remnants of the moths' meals. Perhaps maybe she could piece together a lot of smaller patches? Even Harvey scoffed at the idea, knowing the task would be not only tedious, but probably less efficient than just going out and finding something salvageable.

Nah, sorry, Miss Adelle. Ain't seemin' t' find much tha' ya could really put t' any good use. The Brit frowned, truly sorry that he wasn't much of a help so far in finding the material that she needed. But, I will keep lookin'!

Harvey's response only deepened her belief that there was nothing useful there. It didn't look like either of them were going to have any luck at all finding the leather she wanted. Adelle might have had the sense to ask someone in her pack whether or not they knew where to find good leather if Adelle wasn't so determined to do this without help. In her mind Harvey didn't count for it, as he was a stranger and good company.

Good idea. Heading further back Adelle peered up a set of steps that were practically hidden. It didn't lead to a second floor, more of a square hole in the ceiling. Maybe the leather was stored there. Pushing it open Adelle stuck her head through the hole. It wasn't very solid where she was, so her grip was pretty tight to keep from falling. Found something! Maybe it was leather. Reaching in Adelle began to push what was there to hit the ground below her, not taking the time to have a proper look at it.

Harvey

He wasn't going to give up too easily in searching for usable leather. Not only was he a stubborn, persistent type of guy, he wanted to prove that he was a loyal companion, even to a stranger. Reputation was still a huge deal to the merle Brit, and it was something he wanted to keep positive. If was to give up now, not only would he look like a quitter, he'd lose trust, and respect. No, while the woman still needed her material, Harv made it a mission to at least try his best to find it.

But, perhaps his job would be made easier.

Oh, did ya now? He smiled, though was taken by surprise when he came to meet her. She seemed to have found something rather mysterious in a sort of cubby in the ceiling. He only hoped it was something of use, and nothing too dangerous to get into. In old buildings like this, who knew what could be hidden in the rubble?

Fink it's somefn' ya could use, love? Harvey asked, actually curious. If not, he was ready to search someplace more. Already he'd made up an image of the city in his head, highlighting mentally places that he thought leather could possibly be found.

Smiling still, the Londoner watched Adelle's actions, tail wagging some.

OOC here!

Adelle came back down out of the attic, her face now looking completely black with dust. Her tail beat the air behind her as she studied the large canvassed fabric that had been pulled down. I'm not sure. She twisted to come down, feeling the chair wobble, and fall apart beneath her. Arms swaying she toppled back, twisting to find her balance. She managed to catch herself, but Harvey had been in the way, sending her a few more steps before she managed to regain herself.

Catching her breath Adelle stared over at Harvey. Sorry. You okay? She should have known that it wouldn't be able to support her weight. It was far too much for her. Pushing those thoughts off Adelle turned back to the fabric that had come down. It smelled like leather, but it looked very odd. Almost as if someone had made a blanket out of it, an act that was futile as leather was awful material for such a thing.

((289)) Sorry for latenesssss. Trying to finish threads. ;n;

If his heart had been weak, it probably would have went into some sort of arrest as Adelle's chair gave way. He didn't find himself incapable of catching her, as he knew what adrenaline could do to an already fit male like himself, but the thought of her possibly hurting herself doing what he should have offered to do for her made him regret his just standing about and watching.

Luckily, she was safely landed now, and didn't seem too upset, at least, with the lack of assistance the red merle had given. He had scarred arms ready to grab hold of her if need be, but it seemed she was able to regain her footing on her own well enough. Harvey sighed. Awfully sorry 'bout tha, dovey. Should 'ave offered t' look up there meself, keep ya from ge'in' all dir'y an' save ya from fallin'. Sure if I took a beatin' from a tumble, it'd be less upse'in' than seein' a miss get 'erself 'urt in the process.

He couldn't help put apologize, as he was cursing himself for not being as gentlemanly as possible. He didn't fear that he was reverting to his old, gangster days, but it would have been nice to keep her from even having the scare of being harmed.

I'm fine, dove, no need t' feel sorry ovah it. I should 'ave 'elped. He restated, pressing a white hand to his broad chest in offering his apology.

Attention was brought back to the canvas of what seemed to be leather. At least, that's what the British canine could get out of it all, through scent and sight. Bi-coloured eyes glanced to Adelle. Seems useful enough, right? I mean... Can ya use it?
