Meow:: Northwestern tip of Deer Lake, afternoon. WC:: 7+

It had been awhile since Palaydrian had spoken with Sky, but their last meeting had been filled with all the news that had kept the golden woman away. She had done her own sleuthing since then and upon finding out the rumors were true, her solitary existence became her new life. Little did she know then when she was pregnant and happy, that her world would quickly be falling apart. The accident that took away her children had been more of the straw that broke the camels back and after that, her scent became as stale and old within the communal den as Titania’s. The will to live was hard to even fathom after she had stared into the sleeping faces of the three pups that should’ve been her own living and breathing children, but luckily, Drin saw suicide as a the absolute form of selfishness and after her week of wallowing she had finally gotten up and went in search of her own destiny. Life began anew in the form of a tawny fox kit she had found abandoned in the wildlands and despite everything she was against within the pack, Drin was finally whole and happy again.

Though everything was going better than expected, Drin still wanted to remain on guard. She wasn’t ready to join her brothers and sisters in the communal den, and she felt positive that action may never occur again. She’d be cordial and respectful if she ever crossed paths with a packmate, but she would never actively seek anyone out. A likely excuse being the death of her babies, but the time for relying upon the tragedy to explain her actions was growing old. Good thing with everything going on within New Dawn, Palaydrian’s defiance, due to her strong ties of loyalty to Titania, were going unnoticed. She didn’t care if her alphess couldn’t remember them or not, she’d always be pack...she’d always be family. Besides, nobody was forced to sleep in the communal den and as far as Drin was concerned, she was better off in the birthing den Jiva had built her. Away from those that could easily sate her bloodlust she so carefully tried to hold in.

Leaf was a great help with that. He banished her demons with his kitten-like sounds and reckless wonder of his world. Drin protected him and sheltered him from all things evil and reared him just as she would if he was a pup. In her mind he was one, wolf or not, the kit was her child, he was her offspring. Today was an exciting day! Drin was full of butterflies to see her friend and sister again. It had been too long and she knew the medic wished to check up on her. The Omega also wanted to introduce the woman to Leaf. Her hopes and expectations were high as Shadowfang had happened upon them a few days ago and their initial meeting had gone so well. Perhaps loving a kit as her own wasn’t that weird of a concept for her family to understand? She had not expected such a warm welcome from the dark male, but then again, she wasn’t sure what to expect in general. Drin knew she had an ally in the assassin, a true brother who knew exactly what she was going through and understood her sentiments completely.

Keep up little Bear, we’re almost there! The fae called back to her fuzzy child as she mounted a hilly slope overlooking Deer Lake. It was beautiful as ever, taking her breath away before the tawny furball knocked into the back of her ungloved leg. Leaf! Be careful, she chided the kit lightly with a laugh, turning and bowing her head down to lick the fox runt. Remember, eyes and ears open my love... she whispered into one of his large ears before moving forward into the sunlight embracing the lake. Much like a doe teaches lessons to its fawn, Drin had taught her son to flatten out and hide in the grass if trouble was sensed. His small body could easily go unnoticed, but the woman wasn’t ready to take any chances. She padded slowly towards the beach at a designated spot where Sky would be meeting her. Here they’d be far enough away from prying eyes and ears, this spot was safe for Leaf. The kit hid in the thrushes by the water as his mother instructed while she waited for her friend.

The Witch Doctor

Word Count → 363 :: Sky is in Lupus form. Smile

When Drin had braved the tree clinic earlier, Sky had been surprised. The two had gone for a walk, talked about things happening in the pack, but knew that they would have to keep their voices low and words carefully thought out- it wasn't that Sky had lost her loyalty to Zalen and the pack. No, rather, she still felt the same strong pull to New Dawn she'd felt upon joining the pack moons ago. Rather, she'd felt... concerned for Zalen, for his decisions and behaviour. So had Drin. So the two girls had planned to meet another day, somewhere more secluded, to get it all out into the air between them. Sky had felt relieved that she and Shawchert hadn't been deluded by Titania's loss- Drin missed the alphess just as much.

That morning, come Dawn, Sky found herself more restless than usual. She watched the sun appear over the trees, but as soon as she could see the warm light of it, she'd set off for Deer Lake. She was somewhat surprised to see Fella running to catch up with her about half-way, but with a quick and friendly greeting to the feline, the two continued the walk there together- Drin wouldn't mind. She'd never gotten the chance to meet Fella. Today would be a good enough day for that and the bobcat could easily be trusted to keep his mouth shut.

Upon arriving over a rolling hill, both mother and adopted feline son spotted their siamese marked friend. The sun was high by that point, casting warm rays of sunlight down on Sky pelt as she approached, tail waving behind her in a friendly way. I hope I didn't keep you waiting. She barked as she came near, pausing to give the other woman a quick lick to the ear before settling down on the beach. Fella came over and sat beside Sky, meowing a hello. Fella came along- I hope you don't mind. She'd of course mentioned Fella plenty of times before, that she'd adopted the little cat while she was in d'Arte and that he'd followed her to New Dawn despite the risks. How're you today?

Meow:: Aww bobcat!!! Drin is also in lupus. Smile WC:: 5+

Palaydrian was starting to feel anxious along the bank. What if someone else were to happen this way. Stop being silly...nobody comes out here, she told herself before casting her glance across the lake for the upteenth time. She felt foolish for feeling so onguard within her own homelands, but she just couldn’t take any chances. Sky of all people she knew would most likely be warm and welcoming to Leaf, but anyone else other than Shadow, felt like a threat to her. In a pack that so strictly stuck to the more natural ways, Drin’s insistence to care for the kit and raise him as her own not only was unnatural, but surely frowned upon. Jiva had claimed that Zalen might even kill the child if he ever came in contact with him, which made Drin speculate over what Tharin or Augustus would do. Though the Omega admired their dominance and strong need to protect the pack, she couldn’t help but think they took the natural way of life a little too far in a world that had clearly moved on. And wolves not bothering to adapt or even trying to understand the new ways of life were dangerous. Stubbornness could only get you so far without the help of fang and claw. The woman really was feeling like an outsider everyday. She was sure the pair had found her garden quite odd if not alarming, but Drin understood that using her optime form and adapting to some humanistic ways were good for the pack and good for her family.

Her worried heart slowed when she saw an odd couple approaching. Rolling off her haunches she stood on all fours with her tail wagging as the two came closer. Her smile broadened with knowing as her eyes held Fella. Of course of all people, Sky would not be one to judge! How could she have forgotten about the medic’s own adopted son? Drin shook her head before speaking. Not at all! She responded with her own licks and headbutts of affectionate greeting, careful not to reopen the healing cut on her head. I’ve heard so much about you, she said to Fella before turning her attention back to Sky. I’m doing well...much better, and I have a surprise for you, she said in a mock mysterious tone before voicing a small bark. A tiny fox kit immediately bounded out from hiding and sheepishly scuttled towards the Omega’s legs, peering up at both Sky and Fella from behind her socked limbs.

A chuckle rose up in Drin’s mouth before she introduced her shy son. This is Leaf, she said with a proud smile. I found him abandoned and took him in as my own, she explained. Perhaps you could give him a good look over? ...Poor thing was just skin and bones when I happened upon him. Smiling ocean eyes turned back to her friend when the kit sallied forth a pathetic bark of his own.
