Tharin

Family. Duty. Honor.

Word Count→ 000 OOC: Stormie is awesome!

Life was confusing. To be more specific, luperci were confusing. Whenever he felt he was getting closer to figuring out exactly how their strange mind works they would go and do something and he would have to start all over again. Tharin wasn't a cold hearted male. He actually thought himself to be quite friendly. He loved being around his pack. Saki had currently pounced on him, and was doing her best to win tug of war with his one remaining ear. Tharin let her pull on it, lost in thought.

First there was Amy. She had to be mad. There was no other logical explanation for what she did. Wolves didn't hurt other wolves without reason. She just did it. Then there was Fayne's suspicion that his feelings for Kiara were deeper than just that between pack mates. She might have something there, but Tharin didn't feel any desire to mate with her. She wasn't in heat though, which might explain that. The desire usually was triggered by the smell. Then the fight with Sky and Shaw. That one had boggled his mind. Who would remain loyal to an alpha that betrayed the pack, and had proven to be too weak? Sighing he flicked his ear, Saki tumbling down. Growling she pounced back forwards, contenting herself to growl and push at his side.

Augustus

D'aww xD

Nostrils twitched as the bi-toned brute sniffed the ground. His brows were furrowed and his yellow eyes were sharp, seeking the mound of disturbed earth he'd created days earlier. He'd almost forgotten the plump hare he'd stored there that night he'd met the mysterious Salsolan. There'd been so much tension in the air when he'd arrived. And it hadn't been the first time the woman had reacted irrationaly, what if this Itachi had attacked her? He'd have to speak with her about this...and if the rumors of the dark pack were true she'd been in great danger. Fortunate that he'd found her before the eerily-eyed male had sought to do her any harm.

Another idle sniff and the faint trace of meat caught his interest. He followed it until his eyes rested on the lump. It had been hastily dug, even now traces of its pelt peeked out from the dirt. He dragged it out by an exposed ear, shaking it roughly to remove any traces of muck. Normally he would have turned up his nose at the stale meat, but the ground had preserved it for the most part, and it was a kill he'd made himself, not something he'd scavenged. It couldn't be too bad, could it? It was better than nothing. He turned swiftly on his heel and trotted back towards the den.

Hare in his jaws the behemoth's posture remained somewhat lax, not even bothering to posture in the presence of his brother when he came into view. The pup, however gave him pause, but his gaze darted away quickly, figureing it was best he didn't acknowledge her at all. It would be easier that way. He stopped just short of Tharin, tail wagging faintly behind him, far too hungry to say anything. The hare dangled towards his paws and he lowered his head further, placing a front foot on its low-hanging ear while he tugged upwards. Growling he pulled savagely at it until its flesh parted, and pelt ripped. Unceremoniously he dropped the upper half in front of Tharin before settling himself down and gnawing on the hind leg of his severed half.

Tharin

Family. Duty. Honor.

Word Count→ 000 OOC: he'll have to get over Saki sooner or later

Tharin raised his head, watching Augustus come into view with a dirty rabbit grasped in his jaws. His nostrils flared, picking up the scent. It was a few days old, and had been buried in the ground until recently. Probably a kill that had been almost forgotten. The reaction towards Saki did draw a snort from him. She was part of the pack now, and smelled as thoroughly of New Dawn as anyone else did. He was just being overly stubborn. Tharin straightened up, his own tail wagging happily to see his friend.

Accepting the torn rabbit Tharin quickly dug through, crunching away through the stiffened meat. Tearing off some he passed it over to Saki, the pup peering cautiously over to the giant male that'd brought it. She didn't remember him, which in his opinion was a good thing. Tharin ate through the rabbit with delight, a companionable silence in the air. Saki didn't accept the food at first, cautiously sniffing at it before she took in small bites. He would have to help her get over that. Perhaps Fayne could help with that. She was good with pups, right?

Augustus

He's afraid of puppies, shush! xP

Saki, though young and untimidating made the male uneasy. Perhaps it had something to do with his nightmares. Often he awoke to the same vision; a pup, sable in pelt, with a white mark on its chest who's amber eyes were so piercing they seemed to penetrate his soul. Quickly he grew, and grew until it was his father's face before him, grinning before he lunged, paw raised. That was when he always awoke, panting for breath, the scars on his face pained with memory. Those scars had taken far too long to heal, becoming infected as he roamed lost and confused. A shameful existance. The wounds became infected, growing larger as the underbrush tore at them, low hanging branches he'd not bothered to try avoiding increasing the severity of the cuts. He'd not been dying when Terra met him, but he'd been in pain, and far too numb to care.

This was the reason he hadn't forced the issue with his mate out fear for the sable whelp-- the memory of his father. He didn't want to think of it, so he continued to devour his meager meal in silence, ignoring the whelp altogether. He finished quickly, as there was little meat once it'd been split, and turned to glance at his brother. Yellow eyes softened on the missing ear, and his own twitched mourning its absence. He did look better in the women's care. New Dawn was blessed with an assortment of wolves trained in the healing arts. Augustus turned his nose up at their many concoctions, but if they helped...He remembered with a shudder the needle being pulled through Ciara's flesh as they knitted her torn side back together after their battle with the cougar. He hoped Tharin hadn't had to endure something similar. "You're healing well," he said after the long silence, fur clinging to his black lips.

Silence laid between them, Tharin glad for the simple company of another. It was better than just hanging out with Saki. Tharin wasn't exactly made for pup duty. He could keep Saki fed and out of trouble, but entertaining her was more difficult. His play was rough, and as much as he loved puppies in all shapes and sizes he had no idea what to do with him. He was lucky that Saki was as compliant as she was or there would be problems. He had finished off his own portion of the rabbit with ease, both of them large enough that it did little more than sooth their hunger for the moment.

His tail thumped, twisting his head to look over his own body. Tharin was lucky, with the scars from the encounter practically invisible due to his thick fur. His missing ear was another matter, but he was actually quite well. Kiara helped me keep it clean, so there was no infection. He hated those. Tharin still felt an ache inside him when he watched one of the luperci cure one, knowing that it had meant death to receive in his birth pack. A pause came, wondering how to continue with it. Fayne seems to think we're mates.

Augustus

Augustus nodded, he knew the pain all too well, and his eyes were empathetic. He stretched his paws out leisurely before him, laying content finding his usually tense and dominant posture utterly pointless in his present company. He was happy enough to bask in the sun. With an unsatisfied stomach he tugged a leg bone free of the grabbing sinew and chewed it thoughtfully, ears perked listening to his brother's words.

"You do spend a lot of time with her." Said the snowy man, matter-of-factly. He himself had little time alone with the female's of the pack, but he was already mated. He supposed the closeness between he and Ciara had looked very much the same. Augustus, like Tharin, had been oblivious to it at first, and it had taken the surfacing of her heat to make him realize just what it had meant. Short of speech he mused for a moment, the conversation stopping and started as the males shared in each other's company. "Ciara and I hardly see each other anymore..." Again, matter-of-factly, he kept his emotions separate. "We're both so damn busy patrolling, all I want to do is sleep half the time."

Tharin nodded his head. We are pack mates. I spend time with all of our pack mates. At least, he tried to. There were a couple that he avoided due to their contentious nature but that didn't mean much. He thought on Kiara again, knowing that they were closer than normal pack mates but without a name to give to what they were. They certainly weren't mates. Deciding that giving a name to what they were didn't matter Tharin turned his attention back to Augustus, eyes empathetic to him.

I can start patrolling again. My wounds are healed enough for that. Tharin didn't want to leave Augustus and Ciara on their own for protecting the pack. I could perhaps patrol for a day in a manner so you and Ciara could spend time together as mates. His eyes twinkled at the thought, happy with the idea that Augustus might be able to spend time with his mate. I've been doing far too little recently. I'm not much of a pup sitter, and that's what I've been reduced to in here.

Augustus

The behemoth raised a brow, watching his brother explain. He wasn't exactly buying it, but for Tharin's sake he only nodded. The poor brute, couldn't see what was laid right before his eyes. Had he, himself, been so blind? Maybe he had, after all it had taken her heat to really get his attention, to get him to understand what he'd been feeling all the while. After Terra's betrayal, after his Alpha called on he and Ciara to hunt the cougar, he'd accidentally let her in. He hadn't meant to, but he was so angry with her, it all just came pouring out, his emotions, and he was powerless to control them. And she'd...understood him. It didn't happen often, as very few in his pack knew who he really was. It was easier to be unapproachable, no one would dare ask the questions he was so loathe to answer. Life was peaceful that way, and he could focus on his own duties, and his own life. He cared for his pack's safety, but he cared little for his brother's and sister's individually. Except a small handful; Ciara, Tharin, Shandom...But where was Shandom? There were few traces of his arctic brother. Had he left them...? Augustus looked over at the tree which the older male often visited, as if he would see his ghostly white and scarred visage staring back at him. But he wasn't there. He furrowed his brows a moment, before placing his muzzle between his paws.

His ears twitched and his eyes lazily roved over Tharin's healing frame. "You do look better, I suppose, but you should check with Fayne," Said the northern man, his voice husky from lack of use and tired vocals. "But I would appreciate that...All this nonsense is just keeping us apart, I feel like we never got the chance to really be together." Not that he was all that touchy-feely, but still she was his, and he loved her. Augustus may not have been the most affectionate of mates, but he liked being with her, more so than he ever had with anyone else. He felt he'd spent more time with her before they were mates, and that needed to change.

He blinked slowly, gaze trailing to the surroundings, to Tharin, then the pup. "I see...Why don't you just give her to one of the women? I'm sure they'd love to care for her." Augustus never quite understood what the big deal was with pups. They didn't listen, they constantly needed cleaning, never left you alone, fell asleep whenever you were actually trying to teach them something valuable. He could never see himself being a doting father, but he'd never imagined that he would find a mate, either, just as he never imagined he'd get over his distaste for Luperci. He was still wary of the shifters, of course, but the ones he knew could be avoided well enough, or ignored. Either worked.

Tharin

Family. Duty. Honor.

Word Count→ 000 OOC: lalala

Augustus appeared to understand, nodding agreement to his words. Relieved Tharin smiled, happy that the strange matter between him and Kiara was put aside for now. He didn't understand it, and Tharin only became more confused when he did look at it. It was better to just leave things alone. Tharin glanced over to a tree Augustus had stared at before dismissing it. There was only the unrest in the pack that made him uneasy. That would be solved when Amy was dead and gone.

He nodded his head, deciding that he was going to resume patrolling. He didn't need to check in with anyone. He was fine now. It shouldn't be so. They deserved the chance to spend time together. Saki perked up now, aware as the conversation turned towards her. She nuzzled against Tharin cautiously, the large male turning and licking softly at her fur. Ciara was interested in caring for Saki. She seemed rather taken with the pup. Tharin wasn't going to just abandon Saki! Pups were the pack's future.

Augustus

I sorry, he mostly just wants to bitch. He's going through a rough patch right now, with Ciara stuff, Amy stuffs, and personal conflicts. >.<

The wintry pelted wolf held the bone between his paws, easily crunching through and he swallowed down the marrow, the pieces of bone clicking and crunching against his molars, content to allow the companionable silence to continue. He wasn't about to press his friend further. He was just stating facts, and what he saw. It was up to Tharin whether he wanted to own up to the truth. Augustus could care less, and he did he demonstrated that by tugging another bone free of the dessicated carcass, gnawing on it until there were no scraps of flesh remaining before crunching down unceremoniously, swiftly swallowing the bits.

Augustus nodded, neither wanting or caring to argue further. It was folly that had claimed his ear, nothing more, and if he felt he was ready, he wouldn't argue. He was so tired. If he could just have a day to rest, he'd be grateful. He did, however, want to be sure that Tharin would attempt nothing of the same again. The next time he mightn't even bother dragging him back to the den. "Good. You would be doing us a favor...if you never let it happen again." He lifted his head, yellow gaze fiercely seeking the other male's. Both were dominant creatures and Augustus felt the urge to challenge his superiors rising within him as the seasons changed. He hadn't breathed a word of this, not even to his mate, but she must have sensed it- the tension in his body. He was not a forgiving creature, and he had not forgotten. An angry huff, irrelevant to the conversation stirred the dirt. His head thrashed and he bit at his paw, scratching an itch that had arisen there.

Stark yellow eyes narrowed on his brother. Yes, he and his mate had spoken of this, and he'd told her his answer. It wasn't Tharin's job to remind him, or interfere. "I am aware. She is my mate." He responded shortly. This was a sore point for the male. He wouldn't bother explaining to Tharin the why, it wasn't relevant. Augustus was passive aggressive in his words, which lacked the energy he needed to back them. He didn't move from where he lay, conserving his energy. There was much going on in the pack, and most of it had to do with a particular chocolate hued woman. He'd seen her little clinic, or whatever she wanted to call it, and he resented it, he wondered what Tharin's thoughts were.

"So...That woman, Sky. What the hell does she think she's doing?" He was straight to the point and his voice growled his displeasure. He got it, she was a healer as well as Fayne, Jiva, Noah, and Deuce had been. Deuce's art he tolerated for the simple fact that it had saved Ciara's life, but the snowy woman had only a satchel of herbs and needles of bone, she hadn't bothered with human shelters. It didn't sit well with him. Whatever the needs she had to practice her art she could find them on the ground, as well as treat them there. He would not be coming to her should he be injured. He wouldn't admit that this was all partly because he was afraid of the heights the structure climbed. He never wanted to be caught with his paws off the ground. It felt so, unnatural.

Tharin

Family. Duty. Honor.

Word Count→ 000 OOC: blah

The sudden challenge in Augustus' eyes was unwelcome. Fangs became unfurled as Tharin's tail arched up, raising himself to a more dominant position than the male before him. He was just as dominant as Augustus, if more cool headed. I am not that foolish. He had learned his lesson. Growling Tharin picked up a bone from the rabbit he'd picked clean, snapping it in half with a large crack. He was not in a mood to be tested.

The words from Augustus surprised Tharin a little. Saki shrunk down again, leaving the large gray wolf to study the male. Clearly Augustus didn't want Ciara to deal with Saki. She is pack. She joined the pack the same way I did. Silently he questioned whether that meant Augustus didn't acknowledge him as pack either. Asked about Sky Tharin let out a rough bark of laughter. Challenging her betters and causing trouble. He really wanted to force her down.

Family comes first.
