First Step

The moon wasn't yet at it's peak as Pride walked with care across the lands. It was her first trip outside of the pack by herself. As confident as she was she had taken precautions to be prepared. A small pack of food, her cloak, and daggers in case she came across anything dangerous. The same pride that marked her movement in Anathema was still clear, unwilling to drop it in case anything went wrong. She didn't want to appear scared. If one asked she would be honest, but her confidence should keep those that would take advantage of her naivety away.

Inferni would be the first pack she'd visit. Pride had family there, though she knew that Mama was not strongly tied to them. She had confidence that she would at least get along with those that were there and be settled. She could talk to them and learn a little before moving on to packs that she knew less about. New Dawn was on her list to visit, despite the bad relations that were currently between them. Pride felt that she needed to know more about them. She wasn't yet there though, just walking across the cool forest.

Helios had finally caught something to eat. It was a large rabbit and had taken quite a bit of time to catch. Clutching it in his hungry hands, he took needy mouthfuls of and grinned with blood covered teeth. Content with his current arrangement and with food at hand, he took the time to notice a slight clutch of dry leaves in the distance. With the moonlight as his guide, he indulged his insatiable curiosity. It was enough for him to even abandon his half eaten rabbit beneath a pile of rotting leaves. With cautious steps, his odd eyes glinted merrily.

In the bleary, ethereal twilight of the shrouded forest he saw a figure clad in a dark cloak. She walked with a certain confidence but Helios' keen eye distinguished an uncertainty to her outwardly confident step. Having been mostly fed by his rabbit and in good spirits, he was in no mood to create hostilities between himself in this interesting character. He couldn't say he ran into others very much in these parts and his sister had gone off somewhere or other. His nubby tail gave a twitchy waggle and he broke his cover with a heavy crash. He howled over to her with unbridled exuberance, "Hello!" he cried, ears pricked and eyes bright, "I'm Helios! Who're you?"

The loud voice startled her. Pride turned around to find a very large bouncy dog coming out of the woods towards her. The small coyote eyed him carefully, wondering why he was there. He did seem pretty friendly, but Pride still felt uncertain. There weren't many canines that she had met from outside Anathema, and when she had she had her pack to back her up. She hadn't been afraid. This was different though. Her frame tensed up as he came forwards with a bright grin on his face, completely unafraid of what could be out there.

She stared at him curiously, noting the bright colors in his fur and his broad stance. He didn't seem very well protected, even if he wasn't afraid of what was out there. She could possibly kill him with her knives. She was trained with it. Pride wouldn't try, but she needed to feel more confident. I'm Paris. She wasn't really too sure where to go with the conversation from there, in shock and frozen in place. Her eyes darted over him, before settling on asking where he was headed. Where are you traveling to?
