Sonje by Sie!

Quite a few strange things had happened to Sonje in the past month or so—the latest having happened just a few days prior—but she had washed herself of those transgressions. Erased the blood and grime and dazed memories. She felt like she didn't know who she was anymore. Was there a psychotic living int he back of her brain that she'd yet to discover? It was frightening to consider what she'd resulted herself to over the last several weeks; so in order to save herself the grief, she simply didn't consider them.

Sonje's mantra of "Ignorance is Bliss" perhaps wasn't the best ideal to live by—but if ignoring something was how she dealt best with it, then that was what she was going to do. She walked now, not thinking about it, leading Jagga forward by rope as they crossed the loamy expanse of Moonstone. The heaviness of her mare's large hooves made the going slow, but Sonje was too distracted to be impatient. Reaching one of the larger lakes in the area, she dropped the lead and let her gray friend wander off a few yards to graze. The wolfdog, meanwhile, stood at the bank of the lake and gazed blankly out towards the dark water.

A gray and purple sky, heavy with clouds threatening to spill, failed to block the glowing moon—but a thin crescent up above—and she admired its reflection on the rippling, shady surface of the lake. With a sigh, she sat on the bank, letting the water lap her feet in an attempt to battle the warm stillness of the slightly boggy surroundings. She glanced at Jagga, still outfitted with all her supplies, and then grabbed Viper from her thigh, toying with it soundlessly as she turned her gaze back out to the water.

Itzal's hadn't realized how much had happened in his life in such a sort time. Seeing Axelle again, Eztli and her fighting, him returning to Anathema, him moving to Dasa rank again, and countless else. Itzal hadn't had time to get out much and just explore. But he was right now. He had slipped out of the pack lands. He had planned on going to Halifax but he was tired of always going back there, so instead, he had headed towards some lakes.

He was fully equipped, like always. He had his katana, his two sultan knives, his dagger, and a half dozen throwing knives. He walked towards the lake that was reflecting the little moonlight there was. Itzal was nothing more than an outline in the darkness, his black fur blending seamlessly into the night. He thought he was alone until he neared one of the lakes and saw the outline of a luperci and their horse. Itzal walked towards the luperci without making a sound. It wasn't until he was fifteen feet away that he recognized the person. He had started to expect was Sonje when he could see her a tiny bit clearer, but it was the sword that gave it away. Viper. He remembered because he had named it himself.

Itzal took another step and grinned to himself, "Looks like I'm the one sneaking up on you this time." He said, the grin still on his face. He wasn't sure if she could see him clearly in the moonlight, but he hoped she would recognize him. He had after all accompanied her to find the very sword that she was holding now.

Sonje by Sie!

Sonje flinched at the voice behind her, but it registered as familiar even before she identified the words as playful. Relaxing her tense shoulders (and her subsequent grip on her dagger, which she had indeed planned to throw into the speaker's chest), she tilted her head back and peered at an upside down image of Itzal. Despite herself, a grin broke across her features, but she narrowed her eyes surreptitiously at him, lips curling. The roles had definitely been reversed, as she remembered he'd nearly thrown a knife at her as well—just as she'd almost done to him now. "You're lucky you're cute. I may have thrown the knife anyway.. just to see you bleed," she scoffed, jerking her head back down and peering out onto the lake again.

She didn't bother to get up, at ease with the black fellow, even with all his dangerous weapons. They'd had plenty opportunity to kill one another weeks ago. If it hadn't happened by now, she doubted it ever would. "What brings you out here?" she asked, peering up at him over her slender shoulder, her pale eyes both curious and suspicious. "Not trying to catch some young girl unawares, are you?" Some twenty yards away, Jagga picked up her head, observed the two, their body language, and then continued grazing because nothing was presently wrong.

The smirk never left his face when she told him he was lucky he was cute. If anything it grew bigger. Itzal remembered their first meeting well and he remembered that their positions had indeed been reversed before. He had been the one that was going to throw a knife at her. But now he suspected that Sonje's threat rang hollow. If she had wanted to throw a knife at him, she would have the second he spoke. "Cute now, am I? And I assure you, I bleed the same color red as anyone else." He said with a smile as he moved the last fifteen feet to sit beside her. Itzal looked out over the lake and set a foot in the water, watching it break through the surface and caused waves to ripple out slowly.

Itzal shrugged before looking at her with a grin, "Just felt like getting out of my pack lands for a while. And no, I wasn't trying too. It just so happens that one young girl left her guard down enough for me to sneak up on her." He said, as he pulled a throwing knife out of it's holder at his waist. Itzal twirled the knife in his hands as he looked back out of the water. He wasn't sure if the lake had fish, but he almost wished one would jump out over the water so he could try impaling it on his knife. It would be a cool trick to be able to do, he thought with a grin before glancing at Sonje, "What about you? What brings you out here Sonje?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. "Still trying to preserve some of your mystery by staring out at this lake like some lonely soul? Very mysterious indeed." He said, a smug smile playing on the edge of his lips.
