A morning howl.

Was there anything better than a coup of imported tea in a fresh morning? Aura doubted it, there were some benefits of being a wandering trader and one of this would be the easy access to such strange things like the hot drinks she and her sister were enjoying for breakfast. The day before they had just arrived in those fruitful lands finding not one, but two successful packs to receive them. That morning the Tenebris sisters planned to visit one of them leaving their main camp behind to show their goods and luckily exchange them for something better.

Caedis prepared two hand bags filling them with the basics, hand knives, jars, books and small pelts while Aura finished her breakfast and turned the fire down to avoid the risk of a wild fire that would destroy their belongings and scare their mounts. “We are ready to go”. The ligh-pelted sister announced offering her sister a cheerful smile before starting the short journey toward the pack borders, the invisible line that separated them from owned lands laid a couple of meters ahead when Aura finally let out an inviting howl for anyone in the nearby that would hear.

The rise for the morning was not from within the Chambers for a time, but from the façade of the mountain where the light first touched. It was a decision based upon the woman’s need to keep herself fit for the time ahead. Nothing forced the body awake or worked the muscles like a jog down the steep slopes. And nothing was as restricting as the large grey found persistently trying to bar her way each and every morning. The woman was not yet incapable of doing things for herself but by the way she was being treated, one would have thought otherwise. It was becoming part of the routine, the monstrous form of her lover barricading the entrance of the den trying (and consistently failing) to keep her within the safety of their home. Already the female could feel herself growing fat from isolation, but she would be damned if it became an unhealthy weight. Coursing rapidly through their routine of empty argument then loving touches and a final word regarding Zeus, she was then free to take her steep climb down with the ringing of a call still in her ears.

Bounding down the mountain, she hurried to the call. Her morning grooming was forfeit for expediency certain that her delay would be looked upon as indifference. But when her paws touched firm, flat ground again, she sounded a call in turn letting the voice know that it was heard and would be received rather shortly.

Swiftly X’yrin made her way toward the border, or as fast as she was able with awkwardly weighed down steps. Her joints still begged for relief though the rest of her felt fine and well. This ailment she presumed herself to have was becoming something more…something worrisome, but as she had done before, she ignored it in favor of more pressing matters. Like the pair that stood before the borders; one dark, one pale, respectfully waiting. “Forgive my delay,” the woman called to the pair, oddly out of breath for so short a run. Before she continued on, she took a pause to collect herself and in this time let her gaze wander of the two set near her home. Her nose quivered inquisitively. “Might you be wanderers?”

A pair of deep-red eyes wandered away from the borders, toward the hidden wagon where her four legged companions and the rest of their belongings remained. Aura felt anxious for leaving their merchandise alone and unprotected, someone could try and steal something or other predators could harm or kill their horses. She sighed deeply trying to calm herself. Her lighter sister looked at her with a charming smile in her lips telling her not to worry with her body. As soon as some greeted them Caedis would return to their camp and guard while Aura spoke with the pack members, her presence was only required to avoid surprising the pack wolves with another stranger in their lands without prior presentation, it would be easier this way.

Caedis started to hum softly while they waited for a pack member to greet them. An answering howl had confirmed that someone within the pack heard their first call and was on its way to the borders. Finally after a couple of minutes, a brown-pelted wolfess appeared from the woods, gasping and panting, evidently exhausted for the long run. Or at least Aura supposed it had been a long run, even if the howl they heard was literally close.

“Don´t worry”. Aura said with a polite smile crossing her lips shaking her head dismissing the female's unnecesary apologies. “We are wanderers indeed, wanderers and traders”. As soon as the dark pelted sister said this she rambled between the items of her bag and picked a random piece and showed it to her costumer, a hand carved knife with the image of a howling wolf decorating its short blade. “We come seeking to exchange some items with your pack, is there anything you desire to get?”

As the Nomad inhaled deeply to catch her breath, she noticed first the gathered scent of various goods that covered them, then a fresher scent that had her hackles briefly stand on end. A hint was enough to rouse the Nomad's suspicions, but not enough to heavily assume without just cause.

Though it brought her pleasure to hear the female pair were wanderers and traders more specifically, she restrained her excitement to little more than a thump of her tail in the grass as she sat, and kept her eyes honed rather tightly on the two. Her shoulders were drawn back pulling the large wolf to a more comfortable height than the exhausted slouch, yet the look of fatigue still burdened her eyes but not by enough to impair her. "It is always a pleasure to meet traders," she replied softly with a hint of a smile playing upon her muzzle. "But is it not good manners in trade to introduce oneself before seeking the needs of the customer?" Saying so, the Issor dipped her head in introduction, letting the loose strands of her wild mane slip freely from her shoulders before drawing her head to its full height again.

"I am X'yrin...Issor and Alpha to the Nomads of Sangi'lak. Might I ask your names before seeing what you offer?"

A diverted smile crossed Aura’s sister lips as the female alpha pointed out her sibling’s mistake. Aura took a hand to the back of her head leaving the beautifully carved knife back inside her bag. “Where have I left my manners?” She shook her dark pelt and tilted her head at one side shoving a wisp of hair off her eyes. “It is a pleasure X’yrin. My name is Aura, Aura Tenebris. And she is my sister Caedis”.

After being introduced by her sibling, the creamy-pelted female gazed back toward their hidden camp and said. “I will be taking my leave now”. She said exchanging a meaningful gaze with her sister before looking back at the pack female. “If my assistance is still required feel free to call me again”. Saying this, the blue-eyed hybrid handed Aura her traveling bag and departed in her way back to their camp.

Aura settled both bags in the floor and laid herself back against a nearby tree with a casual pose. “Again, sorry for my lack of manners...Feel free to check and see if there is anything of your likeing. My sister can bring something from our camp if you want Miss”. The dark female smiled once more making a small invitation for the female alpha to inspect her merchandise.

It was not everyday traders came to the borders of Sangi’lak, and rarer was it to be met with so much to sort through. She recalled her engagement with the male from d’Arte, escorting along the fine mare and timid sheep. The items for trade had been exhibited then offering her the means to view the merchandise with all out in the open. But then, there had been a camp close by to make this possible; a place where the female would be taken should there be more to see.

Though this was not the case with the pair, she could relatively understand why. They were travelers as well as trades with a limited means to carry and display. At least as far as she was able to see. So when offered the liberty to mull through their goods, she took the offer not in offence but in understanding to their situation. As the paler female wandered away, the autumn wolf smiled kindly to the darker of the pair and placed a paw atop the bag to roll it open.

Bottles of dye and seed packets caught her eye above all else, as well as a few strangely scented plants that forced her to turn her nose away to spare her delicate sense from the malodorous good. Poisons, perhaps? There was little need for them within the Family…but she could think of how the plants could become useful elsewhere. “Are you familiar with a plant called ‘cannabis’?” The Nomad inquired to detour her mind from malicious thoughts. “Or perhaps their seeds?” Lowering her nose to the assorted packets she nosed them toward the young female for attention. “What sort of plants will these grow? Flowers? Or are they-“ oh how was it said? “-veg…atibles? Vegetibles?” Was she even calling it right? “Plants that make food?”
