For anyone getting ready for the storm <3 Isa will help out

Isabella peered at the horizon. Ever since they had announced a storm was coming, the two canines, one master and one slave, worked frantically to cover what they could and secure what they couldn't cover. The wind was picking up, pulling desperately at their pelts, whipping the woman's hair into her eyes. It had been a matter of moments of frustration to force her to put her hair in a bun as she worked outside of her house to make sure the delicate lavender plants- though they were in the process of drying out for the winter - with wicker baskets woven with willow twigs and secured with heavy stones. It was a fairly futile attempt considering they would probably die soon anyway.

Most of her valuables had already been taken down into the den and hidden behind the wall clothes she had put inside. Ducky was trusted to whoever ran the stables, and she hoped the mare would be alright. Kaoru emerged from the den, shifting quietly back onto two legs. He had quickly readjusted his waist cloth, rushing to help the woman outside the ruins. They had the day before hung up a line of cloth which they both quickly folded and packed away into the den as well. Hopefully there would be little flooding in the ruins.

With most of her home secured, Isabella scurried with the slave into the ruins, seeking to help anyone else with their preparations. But the entire time, she had that nagging feeling in the back of her neck, warning her that something was coming. It was annoying, and she rubbed at her neck to ease the ache. This would be a nasty blow if the coming clouds were anything to go by. "Anyone need help?" she called, forgoing any formalities between ranks.

Ataxia's primary concern was making sure her rattlesnake, Nagual was safe. The young hybrid bundled her scaled pet in furs and placed him inside a wooden dresser, along with a stone that had been heated in the fire, to keep out the cold. She weighed down the bottom drawer with several stones, trinkets and the few possessions she had, so it would not be tipped over should the worst happen and the wind and rain reach the inside of her tower.

The two windows in her home were sealed with stones, with twigs and mud covering the cracks. There were still two holes in her home that she could not fill: the entrance, which was covered by a heavy pelt that was nonetheless starting to flutter in the wind, and the stairway to the second floor of the tower. The stairway was a problem because the second floor had no roof and very little in the way of walls. Rain could seep in through there and flood the rest of the house. Ataxia sent out a slave - Gjalda - to fetch some wood which could be used to cover the doorway to the second floor; he would probably end up doing most of the construction, which left her time to deal with the last weakness in her tower.

She could not completely block her entryway, for she might need to get in and out during the storm, but perhaps she'd be able to stop the pelt from moving by weighing it down with something. Ataxia's first thought was using stones, like she'd done with the dresser. However, she had picked through the largest ones near her home already, and would need to go farther to find some of suitable size.

The dark hybrid had collected just one while searching the ruins, when she heard a voice calling out over the wind. She squinted at the figures. One hand pushed a lock of hair out of her eyes, while the other arm cradled the stone she'd found. "Yes," she answered immediately, grateful for any help she would get. "If you see any stones or anything heavy... I need something to keep the pelt on my archway from blowing away."

ahh! sorry for the delay in reply! busy busy week D: stupid school

The person who called to her made her turn around, as the call had come from behind. She squinted at the other figure, knowing they were not close but not knowing who they were. Rather, she knew but she had not put a name to the face since she had always been at the Last Suppers. Isabella nodded, unsure if the other woman could see the gesture, then gave a loud bark meant for her slave. Kaoru came scurrying toward her from around the corner of her little ruin. He seemed disheveled and his pelt seemed a tad dusty from his work. That would change if the clouds were any indication of the coming rain. "行きましょう," she said to the slave, her use of the language inexperienced even though it was in her blood. The slave nodded, and did not comment on her poor accent and strangely rolled words. There was more French in her, anyway.

The two looked around the edges of crumbling buildings for stones, Kaoru finding the bigger square blocks and Isabella picking at slightly smaller oblong rocks that found their way there. Kaoru had a few bricks in his hands and they were clearly heavy as he sniffed, furrowing the bridge of his nose from the effort. Other than the mild discomfort on his face, he seemed relatively at ease with the orders for such manual labor. Isabella waved him at the other woman, wondering why he bothered to wait for the order if the load was all so heavy.

Bi-colored eyes finally took in the form of the other woman, who was dark and had the eyes of another woman she knew. "Has your home been secured, mademoiselle?" she asked genially, following behind her slave with his load, her's seeming almost pathetic in comparison. "No holes for rain?" One of Eris's daughters, she assumed, though she had been wrong before. There were plenty of dark canines residing with the Thistle Kingdom, after all.

Ataxia tried to give the pair a smile to show that she was grateful for the help, but it did not come out quite right; it was difficult to smile while wind was blowing her hair in her face. The hybrid shook her head in an attempt to clear her vision. "Only the entrance - and the stairway to the second floor, but I've got a slave working on that." It was actually quite easy to fix any leaks in her ceiling. Since her home had another floor, she could simply climb up to that section and place a stone or something thick over the hole. She had not to do that in a while, fortunately and so was confident in her home's ability to weather the storm without the ceiling leaking.

The younger woman picked up as many stones that she could carry without straining herself and then turned and directed them to her dwelling place. "This way," One paw pulled aside the pelt to allow her guests in. "Just put them on the floor. I'll figure out how to use them later - I mean, I can't block the door way yet, not while we need to go in and out." She deposited her load not far from the entrance, pausing to glance up at the other point of weakness; the stairway. Gjalda had not yet returned, and briefly she wondered if she would have to do something about it on her own, then dismissed it. She'd give him a little more time - besides, she knew very little about construction or woodworking and didn't have the materials or the tools.
