OOC: There are various holes and such in the windows, feel free to either help Neela with this or find your own problems.

Neela had lost track of how long she had been in the depths of the Courthouse, listening to the winds above batter at the building with all their might. As predicted the winds had brought floods with them, great walls of water that were slowly filling the entire territory to hear the tales of those who had been up to see, though Neela herself had yet to see this. Unfortunately, much as she wanted with all her heart to keep that statement true and stay below with the pups, she had to act.

The courthouse was flooding. At the moment the water wasn’t a problem at all beyond discomfort, having risen to just below her knees while she slept at some point but while it wasn’t a present problem, it was a symptom of a larger one.

If the courthouse was flooding that meant that the waters outside were high and the barricades were leaking. If the barricades were leaking then even though the flow now might be minor, the water leaking through could further damage the structures, increasing the flow. What wasn’t a problem could fast become a torrent of water that would drown them all if an entire window collapsed.

Nobody seemed particularly enthusiastic to go up and face the damage, that or they hadn’t realised the potential danger, so Neela had taken it upon herself to go up and do some good. She had built a boat that had travelled almost the entire length of the continent, surely she could fix some windows! Thankfully she had found a spare set of tools stashed here when she had first moved to Casa and so a quick trip to fetch some wood had Neela equipped and ready to go. The pups were regretfully handed over to Aly, who promised to keep them safe and dry, and Neela set off. As she left the collie sent a howl back over her shoulder, calling for some help.

Upstairs the floor was slick with water but there was no depth to it, most of it flowing down the stairs to pool with the Cavalierites. Neela scanned around, trying to figure out where the leaks were coming from. She emerged from the stairs just in time to have her fears confirmed.

From her left came a harsh crack, followed by a surge of water as high as her ankles, not a problem here but likely to add a significant amount to the water level below. Neela yelped in shock and ran forwards towards the room where the sound had come from. She could hear other leaks elsewhere but this large one posed the biggest threat.

Through the crack where one of the boards holding up the window had snapped – luckily one near the top – Neela could see that the fort outside was well and truly flooded. The sight of her house, door forced open by the water and almost completely submerged, sent a chill through Neela’s spine. The flooding was deep here with the proximity to the river and in places was up to Neela’s shoulders. Deep enough to trap her and the pups in the house with no food if she had been stubborn and stayed.

Resolving to thank Enzo at a later date Neela set to work, grabbing a plank and trying to force it over the gap. The incoming corrent made hard work of it, forcing the plank back and making it slide on the wet wood of the barricade; when Neela did get it in position she found it impossible to hold with one hand while she nailed with the other. Snarling Neela called back over her shoulder; a sharp, short sound for someone to get a move on and help her.

The world seemed to him like it was upside down and forever twisting around. He had no notion of if it were night or day or how much time had passed. The storm had not abated and had in fact seemed to get worse, panic and stress had gripped everyone and tensions were running extremely high within the court. It would be a reflection upon Casa's strength and determination if they all survived this storm and rebuilt their damaged property. He made his way through the lower rooms of the court wading through water that was steadily rising. No wonder people were beginning to panic. He tried to calm down whoever he met whilst at the same time keep himself from freaking out.

Lightning cracked outside and thunder followed for a second out blasting the wind as he covered his ears. A doggish cry called him closer and he was in time to see a reddish body disappear up the stairs. Gritting his teeth against the cold water he followed. As he reached the top a new flood of water flowed downwards and Neela's yelp was loud. Summoning his strength the man turned and faced the depths of Fort Kingsbury and let a booming bark roll forth, the sound echoing loud over the driving wind that blustered against their walls. If any had not heard Neela's sharp cry they would have certainly heard Lorenzo's which was akin to a clap of thunder rumbling through the corridors.

The Gambi continued to follow behind his brother's woman at a distance, unable to move quickly through the deepening water. He caught up to her as she was trying to hold the plank of wood against the window and hammer at the same time, as he got closer he shouted at her over the wind,

"What ya think yer doin' up 'ere! Ya shout be downstairs Neela. Tis not safe fer ya up 'ere!" He knew it was a futile effort to try to get her to return but he couldn't stop himself from voicing the words anyway. White bandages stood out against the dusty fur on his arm where she had bitten him whilst he tried to evacuate her from her house. Grimacing Lorenzo threw himself against the piece of wood she was trying to nail back into place despite the leaking water and held it still fighting against the force of the current. He too caught a glimpse of her house, almost totally flooded and knew that he had done the right thing even if it had meant harassing and bullying her to get her to leave. He would never say a word against her for it though, it was her maternal instinct to fight all who tried to make her move her young pups.

Water was leaking into the fort. The high strung coyote was not doing well with this latest turn of events. He had done his best, sticking his fingers into as many cracks as he could find. Grabbing scraps of cloth he stuffed them where they could, moving along and hoping that his makeshift fixes would last until someone who actually knew how to fix stuff instead of just break it showed up. His eyes were wide as he headed down, looking everywhere. He didn't even have the comfort of holding back whines, garbled choking noises leaking out from his throat.

Finding another board that had been knocked loose he pushed it up, holding it in place to the best of his ability. He had survived a lot of things. Surely he could survive a simple storm. He survived beatings, being close to starvings, blood loss, and thunderstorms on his own. Now he was in a building with a full pack. Surely he'd survive this. Tail tucked he braced himself against the impact as the storm threatened to knock down the board again. He wasn't going to hide, no matter how bad it got! He just wished he wasn't alone in this section.

feel free to drag him back/div>

Tony sat quite transfixed by the rising water. While he was not stuck, he was paralysed almost by his fear of the water. It had been fine while the water was an inch of so deep, but not by several feet. His chocolate tail flickered behind him softly, remaining still and the beginning again nervously. Precious few knew water to be his weakness. His litter mates, his father, his mother, Neela. And Silvano of course. The cousin who'd rescued him. He made a mental note to find out where his cousin was again, and to go and find him. But first this damn storm had to die down so he could move from this infernal flooded hell hole. Forced to share his space with a father who, odds are, was pissed to the sky with him at the moment.

'Tha' 'sa lot'a water...' he mused softly, kneading the sodden wood softly as he turned around to Neela. 'Ah'll be upstairs...' he announced softly, turning to advance away. There was no way he way staying down here with all that water.

Neela sighed quietly in relief when she heard heavy footsteps pounding up the stairs behind her. Her nose twitched when she scented that it was Enzo following her, sniffing at the blood from his arm. Despite herself Neela didn’t feel guilty; Enzo had forced his way past a new mother and into the den where she kept her pups, to try and do that without expecting injury was foolishness, no matter how good the intentions. Enzo’s words were met with nothing more than snort and a quiet snarl, "Fuck you” she said, though the insult lacked true venom, "Make yerself useful and hold this” she said, gesturing to the plank. When Enzo did so Neela quickly unhooked a hammer from her belt and fished several nails from a pouch, quickly and expertly nailing the plank in place. If there was one thing being a sailor on a Luperci ship taught you, it was making quick repairs.

Neela heard footsteps behind her, followed by a half-familiar scent as the coyote that hung around Tony’s brother – she’d heard his name once but couldn’t think of it at the moment – moved around behind her, briefly passing her room to disappear into another. Thoughts of the unfamiliar canine fled her mind when the very familiar scent of Tony hit her nostrils. It seemed that her mate had come up from the basement – not surprising considering how he was with water and how flooded it must be down there now – but even up here seemed too damp for him.

Neela’s heart burned with sympathy for her mate’s fear of water but now wasn’t the time to coddle him over it. Instead she turned around with a ferocious look on her face, snapping out in an attempt to prod at Tony, get him too angry to be scared, "So ye just gonna let Enzo do all the work an stop yer children from drowning while ye cower upstairs then eh!?” Neela felt bad about the words but she would leave apologising for later, for now she needed Tony angry and able to work, "Get down ‘ere an make yerself useful, help Enzo.” Neela grabbed Tony’s arm and yanked him from the stairway, pushing him towards Enzo. She signalled a pile of supplies to the two and then set off at a jog, trying to track the next biggest source of water.

She found her destination alongside the soaked, grey frame of Aro’s friend – Roath, his name finally popped into her memory upon actually seeing him. He was tryin to hold back a board similar to how Neela had been and the collie jumped to help, throwing her shoulder against it shoulder first and fumbling at her belt for her hammer and nails again. "Hol’ it steady, I’ll nail the fucker in place” Neela growled.

Ochre eyes flickered to his brother fondly, a brief apology for Neela's bitchiness. While he'd quarrelled with his brother plenty, he still felt something for him. Especially now, as a father. He recognised the sorrow his own father must feel witnessing his youngest sons (well, legitimate ones) fight so often. If Luca and Callum ever grew up like that he wouldn't know what to think. Same went for the girls he supposed.

Eyes flickered to Neela and when he felt her clasp a hand around his arm he stumbled back and struggled weakly, blubbering wilding. 'Oh! No. No. No! Not a fuckin' chance love!' he stumbled desperately shaking his head wildly. 'If i' means stayin' dry, then yeah!' Tony answered quickly narrowing his eyes at Neela. 'Look. Ah'll go up and watch 'em...' he offered, trying his best to get out of it. Water wasn't something he wanted to arse about with in all honesty.

ooc murr

Aro came charging down the stairs hearing the yelling, he was wondering what was going on. He was just getting back from the rescue and trying to dry off. As he came down he saw the water and it was rising fast. Tony came up the stairs all huffy, and Aro almost wanted to chuckle knowing very well why. He grabbed his brother's shoulder and grinned some, "Keep the pups safe, I'll help Enzo, lil' Brother." He grinned more and winked then went up to Neela and Lorenzo and began to help patch up the leaks, "...do we have a spare hammer? I'll start patching up the any other leaks while you two work on the others. We'll get more work done this way.." Aro looked around finding several other patches. This place was full of work. It probably explained why the water was rising fast.

The three had a lot of work to do and they could have used Tony's help, but Aro wasn't going to make the male do something that paralyzed him in fear.
