WC: 349 OOC: Dated for Sept 20th late in the afternoon This is a prompt but not a main thread but open to many, there will not be a post order so have at it ladies and gents

The winds were getting stronger and Saqui had seen part of the stables detach from a flying branch. This made her heart stop, what about the horses? The cows? And all the other livestock? The one side of the stables was exposed to the elements now and Saqui knew it was imperative to save the animals. Even if she put them all in the other side of the stables which was protected more. She left the safety of the town hall, the winds had gotten stronger just from the feel of it, but it wasn’t so bad she couldn’t walk out in it. She pushed herself against the wind and hurried to the stables. Once inside she could see the damage done. It was a small hole in the roof wehre the branch had struck, but the wind was gusting inside and she could tell the animals were in a dither. She hurried to the nearest stable, put a halter on the first horse. She did not know whose it was, she was still learning the animals and the owners as well as names but it mattered little who went first to her. All the animals were treated as well as any other, though she paid attention more to Mirage then others because she was her own horse.

It was spooked and Saqui had a hard enough time calming it down. She was able to and moved the horse to the other side, which seemed considerably more stable, there was really no other spot to put the animals, she just wanted them safe and out of the way of the hole in the roof, calming the animal she put it in one of the stalls and moved to get the next horse continuing this way calming and pulling them along. It would take some time but she was determined to get the animals to safety. She loved the animals as much as she loved her family, and they were a part of the pack. They should not be treated any different than the wolves of the pack.

Uggghh just posting really really fast, sorry for suck.

Unatsi didn’t really perform well under stress, and so this storm was definitely a character building exercise. He’d spent the past few days patrolling when it wasn’t absolutely crazy outside as well as working to make sure his hut wasn’t going to topple over, and then of course helping with different odds and ends when someone ordered him to. Mostly he sat in the Town Hall hugging his knees and looking at the others, only whispered conversations with Udanvti keeping him sane.

There were plenty of preparations left to make, however, and though he was loath to head outside of the village further than he needed to, he’d noticed his young fellow farmer leaving and wanted to follow her. The wind made it hard to keep up, and so once he reached the stables where the animals were milling around anxiously she was already inside. Swallowing as he looked at the branch lying against the roof, he exchanged a look with Udanvti then headed inside the building.

“Osiyo, Saqui,” the red wolf greeted as if this were just a normal blustery day, but his trembling hands betrayed him. “I, uh—yeah.” He quickly turned aside and grabbed for the halter of the first horse he ran into, following her lead. He repeated the Spanish word Io had taught him to calm her silver stallion, calmate or something, and patted necks and rubbed noses, although it was clear that he wasn’t used to being around the huge beasts and he flinched as well every time one spooked.

Besides the snorting and occasional frightened whinnies of the horses, though, there was another low sound rumbling under the noises of the wind. He pricked his ears then reached out to grab the wolfdog’s arm lightly, a frown crossing his features. “Is that mooing?”

OOC: Hope it's okay to chuck Evface in here.

IC:
There had been precious little time for Everly to settle into her new home, barely long enough for her to scope out and collect some of Aniwaya's plants, before the storm had rudely decided to assault the territory. It felt as if the weather was attacking from both above and below: the storm up above and its handiwork, mud which was thick and could potentially do more damage than some stained fur. Her frame was slight, not much of a weight to keep her feet securely on the ground if the winds really took off, but her small paws and light tread might benefit her in avoiding the clutches of the squelchy mud.

The woman's disjointed route in Optime form, with the odd hop or sidestep, could easily have been a game or the meanderings of someone blissfully unaware of the cantankerous clouds above and their vehement complaints which seemed to be echoed and stretched out by the wind. But the nimble she-wolf's piercing eyes told a different story; this track was methodical, and with a methodical approach came a strange sort of quiet for Aniwaya's newest member. It was something to focus on which made her forget the din of the harsh weather, at least temporarily, as she picked her way towards the center of the territory, a small supply of leaves and stalks protruding from a loosely clenched forepaw.

In an ideal world Everly would've encountered some of her packmates for the first time in a situation involving bright sunshine and twittering birds overhead, possibly a laugh or two. She didn't much feel like laughing with a dark sky above and a bellowing from up ahead. Balancing on the balls of her feet with her eyes narrowed, Everly sought the source of the sound.

Her efforts were rewarded (although it felt more like a punishment) with the broad, solid shape of a cow, wide eyed and snorting, approaching. Approaching pretty quickly, actually. The wolf didn't know if the beast had even seen her, but she found her feet skimming the ground in an urgent crescent.

The first structure which seemed willing to put up a fight against the tempest was the stables, but even that had taken a hit. Everly leaned against an outer wall for a couple of seconds to regain her breath – or was it her composure? - before popping her head into the building, ears flattened. ”Can I lend a hand?” she asked, keeping her voice soft so as not to further wind up the frightened animals. "Think there are some cows getting their udders in a twist over this storm." She could hardly blame them. Even in an ill thought out attempt to lighten the atmosphere, since the storm seemed determined to darken it, Everly's voice was marked by anxiety. Her non-existent udder was beginning to get a bit twisted.

OOC – Mattie joins? XD

Sighet was in a worry. The winds and atmosphere had her flustered. It was her last attempt to calm down that she'd decided to go check upon her horse. Boaz, the huge but loving creature, had been penned up in the barn and was now awaiting her. Surely he wouldn't be too enraged at his master abandoning him during the storm. After all, she had come back.

Her optime form was what she trained in most of the time and therefore her balance wasn't quite thrown off on two legs as it would of been on all four. Concern fed into her blood and pumped throughout her body as she neared the building. Figures were inside and moving about, horses and livestock anxiously speaking back and forth. What had happened? More anxiety fueled her and made her movements a tad more stiff which both frustrated and annoyed the calico fae. As she burst into the stable there was a second of a pause to digest just what was going on.

Blue eyes recognized two of the three figures that seemed to crowd in the barn. The third member of the pack remained unknown to Sigh and she took it upon herself to copy what was the obvious thing to do. With damage to the barn it would be wise to move the animals inward together. Her time with the coyotes and the southern areas patrolled by seasonal tornados came to her mind. Should they let the animals run free as custom in the south? She pondered on this as she sorted through livestock and attempted to remember exactly where Boaz was.

A horse whinnied anxiously into her ears, snapping her out of her trance and making her hurry along as she helped get the animals from one side to the other. Believing she would see the black and white animal sticking out of the crowd she proceeded to haul the beasts from one side to the other and tried not to worry too much. Her instincts seemed to tell her the truth though as the stalls became more and more cleared out. Where was her horse?

WC: 451 OOC: so terribly sorry for the delay!!!

Saqui wasn’t alone for long, well the only wolf in the barn, Unatsi came in and was his usual uncertain self, the poor thing and he stood there for a second before grabbing another horse and followed her as she brought her second one out of the stables. Then came the sound of an unhappy cow and Unatsi asking about it, but his question was answered and Saqui stopped with the horse at her side turned to see a newcomer, one she had not met quite yet, she smiled at the woman; “We would be very thankful for help, there is a nice big stick to drive the cattle out, we don’t want them exposed to this wind and rain, we are bringing them to the other side of the stables” Saqui said.

She nickered at the horse she was leading and lead it into the stall with the first horse, it would have to be shared for now because the other side did not have as many stalls as there were horses, and there were already some occupying in other stalls. “Two to a stall if we can help it but three if we cant, the cows... well there’s that back open part, if we move all the stuff we can keep them all there together, we just need to get the stuff we need out and make a barricade.” She pointed to the far end corner where they held their tack and working tools, it was open enough for the few cows they did have, they needed the stalls for the horses. She said this intime for Sighet to hear, she smiled at her new friend but continued with her work grabbing the next horse. It was one of the stallions, his eyes were rolling and he was snorting. She did what she could to calm him quickly though it seemed almost a thing that would be impossible. She was able to urge him out of the stall and then a bright light and a loud thunderclap set the stallion in motion, he reared, his front leg kicked out and knocked against Saqui’s arm, searing pain coursed through her arm and she nearly fell to the ground; “Help!” She said holding onto the stallions reigns with her free hand now, clutching the hurt one to her midsection, unable to bare the pain that was in her arm, it was either dislocated or broken, and the flying hooves kept coming, someone would have to secure the horse, many someones or things would get ugly. She was not going to let this horse go though, not until he was safe in another stall.

sorry for taking so long, pp of Saqui agreed by Shaw

This wasn't something she normally would do. She usually avoided the stables unless Io was there, fearful of the animals within but.. there was a time to cower from things and this was not it. She battled her way through the increasingly fierce winds, leaving behind her children within the town hall, Tiva watching over them for her while she kept alive the great fire's embers. The white woman was not the first to arrive and a few people had already assembled to help.

She shied around all of them and darted to Neo's stall. Io's horse, in her opinion, was more important.. at least to her. He was not snorting and rolling his eyes like many of the others but standing almost serenely as though waiting for his feed time. He greeted her with a soft whinny and pushed his warm muzzle against her head. She was just about to open his door and relocate him to another stall when their was a large bolt of lightning and a roll of thunder that had even Neo tossing his head wildly. Their was a loud shriek that was drowned out by the stallion Saqui was attempting to move, his scream was loud, it hurt her ears.

Without thinking or fearing, or stopping to consider her own safety, Gemma darted forwards "Watch out!" Her fingers grabbed onto Saqui's fur and pulled her backwards several inches, and the hooves that had been on course to strike her in the head missed by a fraction. The stallion rose again and Gemma threw her weight against the reigns that Saqui only just had hold of. The beast, an image of many of her nightmares was not a hair's breath from her. But the injured girl and the snowy woman were no match for the stallion's strength, Unatsikanogeni and Sighet and the other unknown woman would have to help.

Her hands were shaking badly as she tried to persuade the kicking horse forwards, towards another open stall where he would be safe, "Come on.. come on!"

OOC: another sorry for slowness! D:

IC:
Despite her relatively chirpy demeanour, Everly hadn't had a great deal of experience with livestock, and her nerves were beginning to show through as the strong beasts objected to the wild weather outside. Her ears remained plastered to her damp mane, and while her smile was a little weak when the earth toned woman pointed out the stick, there was distinct gratitude in her saffron eyes.

The anxious newcomer was doing her best to look self-assured (and in all honesty, was mostly failing), when the tri-coloured wolf entered the noisy building. The snowy white woman who came last moved so quickly that Ev barely had a chance to glimpse her. The lengthy stick was in the medicine woman's hand, her small paws carrying her back towards the door to make an attempt at herding the wayward bovine into a safe area when the lightning cracked. Everly's eyes narrowed to slits instinctively at the bright, almost painful flash of light, lifting the stick as if it could provide some protection.

For a few moments Everly was frozen, facing out into the terrible storm like a deer caught in headlights. She hadn't flinched when the bolt of lightning had struck, she had just stopped dead. But Saqui's cry as the stallion lashed out in panic brought the medic in Everly to the fore. It was the cry of someone in pain, or someone who would immintently be in such a state, and the tone made the beige and brown Optime whip around, her eyes zeroing in on the scene in horror. As little as she knew about horses, the three year old was aware of their strength and power – more than a match for a single wolf.

The palest of the assembled AniWayans had already leapt into action with impressively quick thinking, and Everly followed suit, though she didn't know what she was doing. All she knew was that such a powerful beast rampaging through the stable could hurt both horse and packmate alike. Her strength was inconsequential, but the stick was still grasped in one stiffly curled hand. Diving into the fray, Everly tried to use the stick as a restraint against the stallion's broad chest, gritting her teeth in her efforts. Only her innate agility saved her from receiving a hefty kick or a crushed foot, but she still seemed to be one step behind the snorting horse. Everly looked to the blue-eyed woman who was pressing the horse towards safety for guidance, an instinctual response which she didn't have a spare second to figure out. Everly Skyfall felt more lost in the loud stable, surrounded by the smell of fear which she couldn't pin upon the livestock, her packmates or herself, than she had through all her months of wandering as a loner.

OOC – :3 Mattie has lip sores, lack of internet, and writers down time block type thing. But she did try... o.o Hope this is okay!!

IC –

Anxiety was pumping through her as the horse went insane. The lightning had spooked several other horses but this one stuck out most. Sighet froze in horror as she watched her friend, the one she'd talked to the longest out of her time here, get beaten by large hoofs. Her jaw fell down, nearly hitting the ground, as a gasp came from her body in recognition of the beast. "Boaz!" she screamed just as her mind remembered how to function.

By this time, Saqui was fighting for a hold and the albino woman was assisting. The stranger, a woman who was obviously quite nervous and confused, was prodding the chest of the horse with a stick. Rushing to the area, the fae forgot the horse she'd been guiding and quickly jumped into the group. "Boaz! Stop it!" Sigh was perfectly aware that any wrong move could hurt himself or someone else other than Saqui's already damaged arm.

Without quite thinking it out she brushed past the brown furred fae and her stick and gripped the paint's neck. "Hush now boy!" she tried yelling as soothingly as she could over the thunder outside. Her hand, the one that could reach high enough given her current position, gripped onto one of his ears and twisted it in a way she'd learned to discipline horses back in the last tribe. The mustang reacted at the familiar treatment by shrieking loudly and jerking his neck to and fro. Still, he did grow slower with his frantic movements. "That's it boy! Calm down sweetie!" she continued to shout as sweetly as she could in the moment.

Gradually the mustang grew more and more calm, her grip on his neck changing from clinging to his body to guiding him to the stall and she released his ear. Shuffling him inside the pen she quickly closed him inside and hopped back out. Her horse was safe and she was happy for five seconds...

"Saqui? Are you alright?" she called with huge, guilty blue eyes.
