ooc: before the hurricane Smile

It was not uncommon to see the pale leader twisting in the air as a blur, the only glimpse of light a gleam of her dagger before she plunged its tip into an invisible foe. Her training on her lonesome was almost like dancing - complicated twists and moved and tricks up her sleeve, constantly refining her movements, day by day, hour by hour. She never ceased until she could not go on any longer, with her tongue lolling out and her legs burning with fighting fire.

Today was one such day. Her swift knife slashed through the air, its blade as deadly as any sword or bow. Its size was her advantage - one would look at her petite form and her small blade and underestimate her, thinking her a weak female with no strength in her mind or in her body. If Skye fought like the ones in Casa di Cavalieri, with honor and honesty and respect, then perhaps she would be offended by the assumptions. But she did not mind others underestimating her, not at all, not when in a brawl - this small judgement would seep into their mind, giving her sly and tricky fighting style a biting edge.

She needed to learn how to defend herself. Dalgina knew now that there was no way she could rely on anyone else to take care of her. Taru loved her, and was ferociously protective, but the death of her pups had been difficult. Dalgina had to stand strong then. Her family had completely fallen apart, and seeing them leave her on her own to try and muddle through it was hard. Dalgina had managed to pull herself back together and make a new rather lopsided family, but it wasn't the same.

So she headed out, deciding to put her own vulnerabilities aside and learn how to defend herself. That way when those she loved came under threat again she would be ready, and defend them against what happened. Dalgina wouldn't have to face the nightmare that plagued her ever again. Walking through the fields Dalgina paused and watched as Skye moved, her knives flashing in the light. It was a beautiful movement. Dalgina let out a quiet woof, trying to get the leader's attention.

She spun through the air, flattening herself as she fell, like a snake would coil after a long jump. A snake may represent her fighting style best - slippery, fast, and yet small enough to dodge even the more direct attacks. Slicing her knife across the ground, where a foe's ankles might be, she contorted her body and twisted it, so close to the ground that her tail swept over the dried and dead leaves of autumn.

Suddenly, she heard a small woof to her left; slowing herself to a stop, she drew herself upwards and looked. It was Dalgina - Skye smiled at her, glad to see her out and about. She knew that the black wolf had been terribly shaken by Jace's betrayal to the family, which didn't do much to help her already timid nature. Perhaps, however, she was overcoming it, and moving on.

"'Ello, Dalgina," she said, catching her breath. "How are you today?" It seemed as if Dalgina had sought her out, and she couldn't help but wonder what for.

The fighting style was beautiful and deadly to watch. It was graceful and powerful, Dalgina could almost see the foes that were falling before Skye's blade. Automatically she felt her fingers twitching towards her pencil before she forced herself to stop. She wasn't here to draw, she was here to learn how to fight. It filled her with awe watching it though, even as Skye slowed to a stop and turned to face her. Dalgina's tail wagged behind her, a little shy at having the leader focus on her and happy to be acknowledged.

Hi Skye. Her voice was quiet, barely carrying through the air as Dalgina thought how to word her thoughts. Your battle style is very beautiful. It wasn't very useful, but she had enjoyed watching. Dalgina doubted she would ever be able to move like that, but it was a nice thought. I was wondering if you could teach me how to fight for myself. The last words showed confidence in herself, brown eyes glimmering with determination. She wasn't going to walk away from this.

Dalgina had always been shy, Skye knew. Even as she turned to look at the black female, her hair was slightly obscuring her face, and her voice was so soft that it barely carried through the air and to Skye's ears.

"Thank you," she said, pleased that Dalgina thought so. She had entered 'Souls with no knowledge of fighting, no realization of what it meant or how it could save her life later on. But she had refined her style and had practiced until it became what it was - a twisting, turning, almost confusing dance to bewilder her enemies and allow her to strike fast, and strike hard.

Skye was surprised at the request that Dalgina made, but quickly grinned, albeit a bit mischievously. "Absolutely!" she exclaimed. "It's a very important skill to learn; everyone does it a bit differently." Skye put her hand under her chin, appraising Dalgina's body type; it was slim, graceful, much like herself.

"I think you would do best with a knife, like me," she said finally. She walked over to the black female, handing her her own dagger. "Just for practice - I'll find you another later," she said with a wink, waiting for her to take the knife.

Her lips lifted up, fangs still tucked in as Skye received the shy compliment. Dalgina wondered if she knew what her fighting style really looked like, or if she could only imagine it. Maybe the leader would like to see art of the battle style. It would be nice to capture it. Later, of course. After she had learned how to defend herself. That was the most important task at this moment. The confused flicker over Skye's face brought doubt to the pup at first. Maybe she shouldn't have asked. Skye was a leader, but that didn't mean she could teach Dalgina. Maybe she thought that she wouldn't have the dedication, or would have preferred that she'd asked a soldier.

The enthusiasm that did break out set her tail wagging, brown eyes glowing with what she'd be learning. Never again would she be vulnerable when someone moved to strike those she cared about. Dalgina didn't know how hard it would be to learn, but she hoped that it would be fast enough. She couldn't afford to take too long to learn. What if someone else got hurt before then? Accepting the knife Dalgina nodded, her features now expressionless. She was going to do this, and wasn't going to hesitate over it either. How do I start? Dalgina's own weapon would have to be found later. Maybe Keldava would give her something.

ooc: sorry for the delay <3

Although the girl was shy, she seemed eager to learn, which was truly the only thing that mattered when learning things such as fighting. If one was willing, and practiced hard, they could become good at almost anything - that was something that Skye believed down to her very core. Particularly with regards to fighting, something that took her herself a long time to perfect (and even now, she made mistakes).

"You have to get the feel for the weapon you're using - each one's different," she said, attempting to adjust Dalgina's grip for maximum advantage. "The knife is for quick and small people like us," she said with a wink and a sideways grin. "First, try just slicing across the air with it - see how you do."

The knife definitely felt awkward in her grasp. Dalgina was holding it similar to how she would a paintbrush, but it didn't feel the same at all. The handle was made much differently. Skye's words were patient, guiding her actions. The knowledge that she'd have to do this each time she was given a new weapon was slightly frustrating, but something Dalgina would have to accept. She wanted to be able to do this. She needed to.

Dalgina let her grip be changed. It wasn't much more comfortable. In some ways it felt a touch unnatural, but at least this was better than before. Asked to slice through the air Dalgina took a deep breath. The blood monsters from her dreams flashed before her eyes, and Dalgina struck forwards. She didn't have any well of natural talent for fighting to drive her, but she had a lot of rage and fear that tappd into a wolf's natural instincts to strike. The blow could easily be blocked, but it was more sure than one would think from the awkward grip she kept.
