One of the few treasures that Temo had found that was still in usable condition was a leather work belt that he had found during his family's stay in Ichika. There was some minor repair that was needed to parts of the leather that he had fixed but they had left before he had a chance to use it. Then after they had arrived in Cercatori, he had gotten busy with building a lathe and trying to teach himself wood carving plus not having anyone request his help with any building or house repair, he never had an opportunity to use the belt.

The hurricane was over and Temo had seen the aftermath when they had emerged from the building that the pack was holed up in. After he had seen to Jace and their brood, he had checked over his shop and decided that it had weathered the storm pretty well. When he saw the destruction of parts of the town, he decided that he was going to fix it. He had to do something to get the depressive moods to leave him alone and he felt that repairing the damage would be the ticket. Yes, being let back into the house and caring for the new pups helped but he kept having depressive thoughts from time to time.

Temo stood in the entrance to his shop and surveyed what he could see trying to decide where to start. The tool belt around his waist with a hammer, pry bar, and a few other tools stuck in various hangers and pockets hung on his emaciated frame with a comical slant. With the idea of using the repairing to try and forget the depression, with a saw in hand, he walks out into the Town Square and gets started sorting out bits of siding and reattaching to a house that did not seem to have been cut in two by a tree. In his mind, he was going to fix the town all by himself if he had to and this house was the starting point.

The blind female stood in her workshop, the wide door to the outside fully open so that some of the water might dry. Hotaru could feel the remains of the flood that had most likely damaged most if not all of her carvings. Walking around the room, Hotaru's paws splashed against the ground, each one a painful reminder of the damage and work she would have to do. The soft beating of air alerted her to the return of Fawkes and Kelia. Both birds had flown around the house, surveying the damage. Together they landed on her shoulders and each took turns speaking as they described the condition of the house. Several windows had been broken and would need replacing, while the inside of the house was damaged from flooding. Mud coated both the inside and outside of the house, while random debris littered the inside. A tree had been downed, but landed to the side of the house, so the roof was intact.

Once their report was done, Hotaru just shook her head in defeat. For about an hour, the female moved through her house, feeling and examining what she could to try and get a better idea of what the flooding had damaged, what needed to be replaced, and what was salvageable. As she had suspected, most of her carvings had been damaged beyond repair and all of her stock wood was destroyed. Her staff had remained in tact as it was in the bedroom and safe from the flooding. The garage had suffered the worst damage, while the bedrooms had managed to remain mostly intact. Shaking her head again, the wood carver moved outside to look for some raw materials that she could use to help repair her home.

Once outside, Temo's scent was easily distinguishable. Hotaru didn't really have an opinion of the male. They had met only on occasion, although Dalgina had stated that he too was a woodcarver. Striding over, to the midnight male, Hotaru took a relaxed dominant stance and a calm smile. Kelia and Fawkes were both nearby, each choosing a perch among the wreckage. "Hello Temo. Is there anything I could help you with?"

Temo had kept himself busy with the repairs as he found them and could find materials to do the repairs. The only problem he kept having was that he had to stop and rest a lot. A lot more than he seemed to remember having to do in the past. Regardless of his energy being sapped, he had repaired the siding of several houses and he had sawdust and dirt in his dull fur. For the first time in ages his mind was not dwelling on what had happened that drove him to depression and his mood was better and a bit happier with the manual labor and concentration on what he was doing. Even the occasional hit on a thumb or finger by the hammer helped the happiness increase a bit.

Once in a while, he would see someone else in the neighborhood dealing with their own problems that the storm had left for them. None had seemed particularly interested in what the thin, black furred luperci was doing so Temo did not bother any of them and kept to himself as he ripped and cut whatever needed fixing and the thump, thump, thump of his hammer as it pounded the nails in.

As he was not expecting anyone, Temo's arm paused in it's cycle of inserting a nail into the wood when he heard his name. He looked around to see the blind female that Dalgina had mentioned she had been staying with now. He remembered meeting the female way back when his family had arrived to this pack as he moved and found a place to sit and rest to catch his breath. Hello, Hotaru, he greeted her. So surprised to have someone offer him help, he could not think of anything, I do not know, was his answer

The scent of sawdust and wood filled the air, making the woodcarver almost giddy. She hadn't carved anything since the death of her puppies and the woodworker inside of her called out in protest. She loved wood; loved its scent and texture. To run a knife against a fresh stock of pine was one of the best feelings in the world, yet she had denied that part of herself in the wake of her grief. Now, with sawdust lingering in the air, her desire to carve swelled to unprecedented amounts.

Red ears twitched as the sound of shuffling caught her attention. Hotaru listened carefully, memorizing where Temo was and where he was moving to. Did he simply move to the side or sit down? Judging by his labored breath, Hotaru decided that it was safe to assume the male had found a place to rest. Dalgina had mentioned that her father wasn't in the best of health.

Temo sounded surprised at her offer and Hotaru couldn't help but wonder if he was underestimating her like so many others. Smiling kindly Hotaru said, "May I ask what it is that you are working on? Perhaps I can offer some assistance. If it involves wood I could offer my expertise in the area and an extra set of hands."

In comes the Jace

The hurricane was done and dead, she thanked the Great Mother for the pack's survival. She was also thankful that she had been able to find Keldava in the bowels of Halifax. Her daughter was injured but not fatally and she had been able to provide rudimentary medical care for her on the way back to Cercatori. It pained her every time she looked upon Keldava's hand and saw the scarring there as well as seeing Honrin's face. She, their own mother, had been the one to injure them so grievously. All three children were still wary around her, Temo as well, as though they were all waiting for her to explode in fit of violent rage. How could she possibly explain to them that for those few seconds in time she had not recognized who they were, had seen strangers in them.

The thin, patchy furred woman wandered the wreckage of Thornberry, her newer children protected by their older sister. With the storm's destruction she had at least stopped shedding her fur in droves from stress and fear. The maternal mind was a cyclone of impulses and instinctual reflexes. She doubted anybody would believe her, and didn't try to correct them when they hissed insults at her. She followed the scent of her mate, another instinct within her, and its wandering path that eventually led her to himself and to the blind carver.

She was wary to approach, unsure of the reception she would receive from Hotaru, she had never been on particularly friendly terms with her and was aware that Dalgina seemed to have latched onto her as a surrogate mother, something that made the bile in her stomach rise, another woman caring for her child. But then, she argued with herself, she had not exactly been doing a very good job herself in caring for her children lately. So she stood there, almost afraid to approach closer and yet unwilling to move away and be by herself.

Temo remained seated and continued to rest as all the work had been taking a toll on his still emaciated body. It did feel good to sit and rest but it felt better to him to be busy and working with a purpose. The work was keeping his mind from continually returning to the depression that he had been feeling for the past month. Dalgina had helped a lot with his recovery but he also knew that he had to work on healing himself too, especially with the his depression.

He looked at Hotaru, there was something about her that seemed different. Then he remembered that she was blind. With a look around him at the various buildings, the damage and detritus, and a couple of piles of firewood that he had started sorting the scrap wood into and a segregated pile of good lumber. One pile was the branches and trees that need to be seasoned before use and the other was old and damaged building material that was unusable and did not need seasoning before burning.

All I have been doing was cleaning up the storm detritus and sorting into piles, some firewood and some usable lumber. He answered her query. He looked up to see Jace hesitantly approach them. And doing repairs when I can on the outside of the buildings. He did not go inside any of them because he did not have owner permission to enter any of the occupied ones. Hi Jace. he greated Jace and wondered what was wrong that kept her from approaching closer.

The Overseer listened carefully as Temo spoke, nodding and making mental notes as to what needed to be done. The storm had caused a lot of damage, most invisible to Hotaru. She could feel that the muddy ground beneath her feet was damaged by the flooding and assumed that the rest of the area was in a similar state of disrepair. Logic dictated that there would be detritus, but Hotaru couldn't help but feel surprised that there was enough to make piles out of it. "Very well. I can help sort some of the piles as well as assist on the home repairs. Fawkes, go grab my satchel. The one with the tools." A flutter of wings, too loud for just one pair, and both birds were off. Hotaru just shook her head. She'd have to wait then until both birds returned to begin any woodworking.

Hotaru had scented Jace and heard her approach, but didn't turn to recognize the female until Temo greeted his mate. The relationship between the two wolves was shaky at best and with the added injury to Dalgina it was hard for Hotaru not to judge Jace. Jace had so many healthy puppies, yet she had injured two in a fit of insanity. How, how could she be graced with such luck and throw her own pups away? Hotaru took a deep breath, stemming her anger and grief before they could rise to the surface. Giving a quick nod, she said, "Hello Jace."

Remembering how she could get if she dwelled on the negative, Hotaru turned her attention towards work. "Temo, could you please direct me to the piles? I'll work on some sorting until Fawkes and Kelia return."
