Not as good written the second time Sad sorry about that
Words - 400+

Jaden had realized long ago that he was a luperci who needed purpose. A year ago it was to simply survive as asked to by his dying mate. Six months ago it was to strengthen Ichika no-Hoen. Until very recently it was to please X’yrin and aid her in the building of Sangi’lak. Every time his world tipped over on itself, as it seemed to do far too often, it was getting more difficult to repurpose himself. But what else could he do? He most certainly wouldn’t lay down in defeat. Not yet at least. So now he would give Sangi’lak itself his purpose. It would take a few more days at the very least to hammer that home and block out everything else. As it was he almost always felt angry. It was a cold emotion after the heat had burned for long enough and perhaps the easiest to maintain while trapped in a confined location with his various pack mates. What he truly needed was time to blow off steam but then he had to wonder if that was good for more than just himself. If the pack didn’t benefit somehow then he wouldn’t be serving his purpose…

It wasn’t long before he found a few extra motives to leaving. Firstly, his pack needed fresh meat. While they could survive a time longer without it on what had already been gathered, it would be good for moral in this uncertain time and keep them strong should the horrid storm subside soon. And second, there was a member who needed talking to. The male had been acting odd for a while now. From what he’d heard, it was Asgeir’s idea to build the barn for all of Sangi’lak’s animals. That was no small feat and it showed an exuberant amount of care for his pack. But did he expect that one act to give him a free home for the remainder of his life. The wolf was older, but he wasn’t old enough to earn that. So it was the Issum’s duty as Alpha to remind him of this.

That was enough to satisfy his purpose. The Issum had spent most every day of their confinement wandering about and wordlessly checking up on his family. He only spoke when it seemed absolutely necessary like if someone looked ill or hungry. It might have seemed odd when he marched straight up to Asgeir and more or less ordered the wolf to accompany him on a hunt. He waited for no reply and simply turned to head away from their place on the mountain. He knew Asgeir might fetch his horse or whatever else he needed so he stopped and waited for the man. Jaden sat quietly at the edge of the nomad camp looking out on the storm that had let up to a dull roar and thought of what exactly needed to be said.

Jaden does. Jaden speaks. Jaden thinks.

Jaden was right, Asgeir had been acting oddly for some time. He had made some small attempt shortly before and shortly after the pack meeting, and when the storm had threatened, he had half-heartedly help get the animals to safety, but he was silent, eating what food was passed to him, and keeping his horses tended. It was not the respectful, honorable way he had begun in the pack, and he was honestly surprised that he did not find himself demoted for it, but he also was unsure what to do to remedy the situation now, now that it had begun to snowball out of control.

So he continued the same as he had been, keeping to himself, moping in a small corner of the shelter. He was not surprised, nor was he worried when the Issum appeared in front of him, telling him he was to accompany him. The elder did not think he would be turned out in the hurricane, and if he were perhaps it would be a good thing, anyhow. He got mechanically to his feet, using his ever-present spear to lever himself up from the earth, his tail partially tucked between his legs. He considered retrieving Speck, but a moment's time listening to the wind evaporated that thought. They would make no headway with the horse; the screaming of the storm about cinched that. He made his wending way outside, loping slowly to catch up with his alpha.

He didn't so much as look at the black and white male as he fell into pace beside him, but waited for orders, his ears lowered and his back curved more than his normal stance normally caused it to be, the chocolate and ash tail pressing against the back of his right leg. His spear was clutched in his left hand, his knuckles white below the fur with their grip, and his right hand kept returning to his head in an attempt to keep the green and brown plaid tight around his head.

No worries. I'm glad to see you back! Big Grin Words - 300+

It wasn’t long before Asgeir met him where he waited. Jaden glanced to the approaching footsteps and saw what could only be described as a broken man. He knew he was in the wrong and that much was obvious yet he still continued on as he had before. It would not be fair to say he had been useless recently but he was far from part of the family. He was alienating himself, it seemed, and that was an observation taken from the point of view of the Issum who knew nothing of Asgeir’s true nature. He desired to know why and to help remedy the situation.

Embarrassment wasn’t something that seemed necessary now and though the storm was decently loud there was still a possibility that a family member might overhear. Come, he said sternly, we will likely find prey taking shelter at the base of the mountain, he then led the way carefully down the steep face of Oromocto. The wind shrieked at them the whole way down and pulled at fur and cloth alike. There was quite a noticeable muting once the trees stood in defiance of air. It seemed like an opportune enough time and they were now well away from the encampment. Jaden sat and waited for Asgeir to come within hearing distance. When the man was again close enough, he turned to him with eyes slightly narrowed in disdain. We have not had a chance to formally meet before now Asgeir, but I have heard good things about you, he spoke loud enough to be heard clearly over the creaking and breaking of branches in the wind, to my understanding, it was you who devised the construction of our barn. That is no small feat and one you should be proud of. Your actions show off a wolf willing to dedicate himself to Sangi’lak but your attitude tells otherwise. Sulking around and shunning yourself from the family, what do you have to say for yourself?

Jaden does. Jaden speaks. Jaden thinks.
