I am living fire

[html]OOC: Backdated to August 9. (373)

She had been walking for at least two days, hungry, tired (now) and bleeding still. She was sure her body was in the early stages of shutting down, and she felt the edges of her eyes wanting to close. She felt the need to just lay down on the ground and go to sleep, but she wouldn’t do that until she got at least to the Anathema borders. At least if she were to stop breathing, there would be someone to help her there.

She could smell Anathema, it was close. There were only a few more miles until she was home, safe in her bed. Safety wasn’t her main concern, as it never was. That was pretty clear in her actions, and it was not a priority in her mind. She figured if she were to die, she wouldn’t go down without a fight no matter what the situation was. And that was what she lived by – she did whatever was necessary to make herself happy no matter what consequences her actions held.

Thoughts kept her busy as she stumbled the rest of the way toward Anathema. Once she crossed the borders, she was home, but she wasn’t home yet. She was still in the forest, and hadn’t found her way out yet. Where was Kai? No, scratch that – she didn’t need him. She got this… She got….

Axelle collapsed. She was in the middle of the forest, Dawn’s Breath. Once she hit the ground, she felt like she was at peace finally. Her body was sprawled along the crunchy leaves of the forest floor, a tree branch here and there and a bug once in a while landed on her nose, but that was it. No movement, no other wolves, nothing. Though, Axelle was alive and breathing she needed help soon. Her wounds still purged what dirty blood they could push out, and by then she was bleeding out of her puss – she hadn’t noticed. The induced miscarriage was taking effect. There were bloody chunks all sliding down her legs, and the blood that leaked out was forming a puddle on the dried leaves. She would bleed out soon, if someone didn’t find her – in the pathetic state she was in.

Pacing around Anathema borders, Kai was restless, listening for any sign of Axelle, that she needed help, that she was hurt, that she had succeeded. He just hoped she was alright. It had been a few hours already - he didn't know how long it would take. Perhaps Tyko hadn't shown up. Perhaps they were talking. Every scenario had run through his mind. Axelle hadn't called, though. Of that he was sure of. Lying down right on the edge of the pack land, Kai continued to keep alert. But still, nothing.

And then, he heard movement ahead of him. His body rose, hoping to see a triumphant Axelle, bloody and exhilerated after slaughtering Tyko as she had wanted to. But it wasn't her. A horse emerged from the treeline, minus a rider. Kai snorted and ignored the beast but as it approached, his eyes settled upon the animal once more. Axelle's horse. Panic set in - if the horse was here, where was Axelle?

A sniff of the air told Kai that blood had been spilt, and as the horse came closer, Kai could see it was his blood he could smell in the air. The horse had been injured. More panic flared in him. A moment or two later and his body had shifted to his Optime form. Kai ran for the steed, taking the reins to get a better look at its wound, before hoisting himself onto the back of it. The horse snorted a little in complaint, but Kai's snarl was enough to knock out any defiance.

Riding in the direction the horse had come, at the fastest speed the animal could manage, he had no idea where Axelle was or in what state she was in. She could be anywhere but he figured if he headed towards the Dampwoods, perhaps he would come across her on the way back to Anathema. She would probably be pissed that her horse had fled and that she was having to walk back to Anathema. Who knows how long it would take her, depending on what state she was in.

His feral eyes searched the treeline, but he could see nothing. No sign of Axelle. Panic began to set in and as time passed, Kai's search became more and more frantic. She hadn't called for him so she couldn't be hurt. Unless she was dead... Unless he had killed her before she drew breath to call. The thought made him shiver, and as night fell, he still couldn't find her. Throwing his head back, he let out a long howl, listening for an answer but none came.

As the sun rose once more, there was still no word, no sign of Axelle. Kai was still trying to keep away the fear that Axelle had been killed, tried to keep a check of the rage and fury that threatened to overtake him when he thought she was dead. Finally, as the horse ran back towards Anathema, Kai's hopes that he had missed her, that she had made it back to Anathema lands fading, he saw her. His heart lurched in his chest and he dismounted the animal before the horse could come to a stop. He darted down to her side, looking over her - her form was covered in blood, and a quick check of the scent told Kai what he feared - that it was hers. His eyes searched over her, and when he caught sign of a breath, of her chest rising and falling, he knew she was at least alive. But only just, judging by the amount of blood there. He had to get her back to the caves, where Panda could take a look at her, fix her up.

"Axelle?? Can you hear me?!" Kai couldn't hide the panic in his voice. He could see some of her wounds but he hadn't noticed the main source of her bleeding, not yet. "I'm gonna take you back home, okay?"Do you think you could sit up?" His plan was to put her on the horse with him to carry her to the caves.

[html]OOC: boop. (371)

Axelle was totally unconscious; she couldn’t even utter a word to Kai because she was unaware of him even finding her. Her dreams pulled her in deeper into the inside of her own head. The darkness was so welcoming, it was sick. She wanted to kill Tyko, to just end him, but he was too strong. She needed a better plan… But whatever voices called her into the blackness were her main priority right now.

She found herself, clean of blood and wounds, in the middle of nowhere. She looked down at herself noticing no flaws in her body at all – like she was a pup again. She had no scars, wounds, or obscurities. She was a brand-new Axelle. Was she dead? The thought echoed through her mind and bounced off its empty walls. She couldn’t tell, and didn’t know how to tell. All she knew was that it was dark everywhere else, and empty. Very empty.

She continued to walk around the area, wherever she was, aimlessly, trying to find somewhere to go or a way out. There was none, and this was apparent to her. She could hear voices whispering at her from the darkness, one sounded very familiar. ”Naniko?” She called out, seeing a white wolf in the distance. The figure faded within the darkness, and Axe had the stupid urge to follow it. She ran through the halls of the darkness (somehow it had hallways now), following this white spirit. Finally, after some searching and getting lost, she found the white wolf sitting in a room facing a dark wall. Axelle slowly crept forward, ”Naniko?” She didn’t think Naniko was dead, but then again the strong Alphess just left so abruptly. Anything could have happened to her.

The other did not answer, only they kept staring at the wall. But as Axelle crept closer, they turned. This white female didn’t have green eyes like Naniko, or a black nose – she had silver eyes and a pink nose. Those features were so familiar to her, but she couldn’t put a finger on it. ”Who are you?” Her own voice echoed throughout the halls of shadows and the spirit kept a calm face. ”You don’t remember your own mother?”

No response. He got nothing, no weak words, no shake of the head, no moaning, nothing. It worried him more, but he didn't have time to mess around, not with the amount of blood Axe was losing. He had to get her help and he had to do it now. There was no time to waste. Turning Axelle a little, Kai slid his arms beneath her form and scooped her up quickly, noticing the large pool of blood that lay beneath her, more than he had expected to see. Surely her wounds weren't capable of bleeding out that much, were they? Letting his eyes scan down her form once more to try to work out why and where she was bleeding from so heavily, he felt wetness against his forearm, matting the fur there as his arm hooked beneath her knees. It took a few seconds for his brain to work through the information, the location of the blood, the reason for the bleeding, and when he did, his whole body felt weak. As he tossed Axelle onto the horse, faced down, her head on one side of the beast, her legs hanging over the other, lying on the saddle on her belly, Kai had a better view of what he feared. But he couldn't think about that now, couldn't deal with that yet. He just had to get Axelle back to the caverns. Lifting himself onto the horse behind Axele's stricken form, he grasped the horses reins and turned the animal back around to face Anathema, kicking him so he head off with speed towards Anathema.

There was bound to be another explanation. Perhaps they were okay, perhaps if they made it back to Anathema quickly, things could be fixed and their pups could be saved. One arm wrapped somewhat around Axelle's form as he rode with her on the saddle in front of him, just hoping they could make it home quickly, hoping that perhaps Panda would be there to help or another medic. On the way, every now and then, Kai called out to his female, called her name, shook her to try to rouse her from her unconsciousness, just wishing that she would wake up so that at least he would know that her mind hadn't been too scrambled. For all he knew, her mind was jelly in her skull, she could wake up and not know who she was, or who he was... All these thoughts circled around his head as he urged he horse onwards, as quickly as possible.

[html]OOC: Ooc. (591)

Axelle couldn’t feel anything. She couldn’t even feel her body, not physically or in the dream world. As she stood before the white wolf in the darkness, she was trying to get the familiar answer she wanted out. Her mind wasn’t working the way she needed it to and as she gazed toward the white spirit, nothing came to her. The white femme with the silver eyes and pink nose was just a familiar memory to her, and as the female’s soft features turned to look at her daugher’s new body, she seemed disappointed. ”What have you done to yourself, my sweet girl?”

Axelle shouldn’t have been surprised – she had contacted the dead before in her dreams, but never her mother. Even with the answer given to her, right before her – she couldn’t remember if this being was her mom. With all the similar features reflecting her own form right before her, she still couldn’t recognize her. Was it because of the blood loss? Her brain wasn’t functioning the way she wanted it to. Needed it to. Axelle continued to stare at the other, and again the stupid words came out of her mouth, ”Naniko?” Though, she already knew who this was and what her actual name was – her mind was stuck on Naniko. The woman’s smile twisted into a sad frown, ”I guess not, my love.” Though, she was more talking to herself than anyone. She looked away for a brief moment, head snapping into a direction behind her as if she were called by some unknown source. Her mother zeroed in, but turned back to her lost daughter. ”I will be watching over you, my beautiful daughter. I will let nothing hurt you.” Then the woman walked away from her and disappeared into the darkness.

Axelle felt a pang of sadness in her heart, and no matter what – she couldn’t move. ”Wait! Come back…” She wanted to call the other by who she remembered her by, but the words wouldn’t come out. She reached in the direction where the spirit left, and found herself plummeting backwards, into a dark hole. ”Mom! Mom!” But she kept falling.

Axelle’s eyes flew open and she screamed, ”Mom! Mother?!?!” Then she pushed herself off the horse, falling onto her head and rolling. Her body began to shift into Lupus form as she rolled about five feet. The stretch and reforming of her wolf skin destroyed what healing her wounds had done. Everything began to bleed once more, and what was leaking out of her female organs was beginning to cease. There was still a slow trickle, but nothing like what was before. Finally, she stopped rolling and just lay in the grass on her side, looking up at the sky. No more darkness, no more Anette. Her abdomen hurt, and she didn’t even know what was going on. She was still delirious from the crazy dream, and probably because of all the blood loss. The sudden neighing of her horse didn’t even wake her up from her confusion, and especially the thunderous gallop once Kai realized she disappeared.

The once tough Marbas lay helplessly in the grass, lifeless but awake. She stared at the sky with one silver eye, but still couldn’t move. Her body had stopped shifting and her wolf form lay motionless. A tear welled up in that eye and slowly leaked down her muzzle. What have I done? It was her fault, something. She couldn’t figure that one out either, but her instincts told her something was different – a bad something.

Urging the steed onwards was all Malakai could do, and the feeling of helplessness was something he just wasn't used to. He couldn't help her, he hadn't got the skills to fix her wounds or even stop the bleeding. All he could do was hold onto her until the horse brought them to the caverns and he could at least take her to someone who could help. But it turned out that he couldn't even keep tight a hold of her properly. As Axelle jolted away and shouted for her mother, Kai's grip on her loosened enough so that her body launched from the horse. He yelled at the top of his voice for her, an immediatly yanked on the reins to stop the animal, tossed off the horse himself as it reared up with heavy snorts and neighs.

Scrambling to his feet, Malakai headed for Axelle, who was shifting to her Lupus form before him. His eyes roamed over her as he skidded to her side, seeing that all of her wounds looked fresh and bloody once more. A growl of frustration left him - she was dying right in front of him and he felt so utterly useless. Time was of the essence now, and scooping Axelle up into his arms once more, made a little easier given her shift, he turned and began running towards their home, towards help. He would waste more time trying to get them both back on the horse, and right now, Kai knew he could make better time this way.

As he ran with his female in his arms, with her blood matting her fur, hoping that what he thought had happened, hadn't, something resonated in him that had never done so before - desperation. Kai had never cared about much before, but now, when the only thing he did care about was in danger and he couldn't do anything to help her, he felt desperate. He ran so hard and so fast that his muscles burned and his lungs felt like they would explode, but soon enough, the cavern enterence was in sight. He had to get Axelle help. "I am... never letting you... out of my sight... again..." This was the second attack Axelle had sustained in his absence and while he knew that she was strong and could hold her own, Kai was not going to risk the same thing happening to her again. He would be there to make sure she was alright, always.

It wasn’t long before she was scooped off the ground again. She was barely awake, but knew where she was – to an extent. She knew she was floating, no longer on the ground, and moving – but she didn’t know where she was going, or how she was floating. ”What… Where are you taking me!?” She would’ve struggled, but she was too weak to move. ”Mom! Mom?! Where are you!” She screamed as loud as she could, her voice shaking from Kai’s footfalls.

She looked to her right, seeing Kai’s face right before hers and she growled. She had the urge to just attack him, bite his face, but she didn’t have the willpower to do it. She wanted to so bad, but she couldn’t. That she didn’t understand either. What was going on with her? She still snarled loudly at him, but couldn’t even raise her lips to bare her fangs or show her deathly wolf snarl. Nope, nothing. She struggled a bit in his arms, but it was nowhere near enough to make him drop her. She didn’t like being on her back with her stomach so vulnerable. She felt weak in this position and wished her was holding her the other way. Then she moved her neck a certain way and felt the sharp pang of pain in her chest. Then she remembered.

She was knocked out. She struggled a little more, trying to see what was wrong with her body. Why did everything hurt? What was wrong with her stomach? She craned her neck to see that too, and when she realized where all that blood was coming from, she yelped loudly (in surprise) and struggled even more. ”Let me down! Let me down!!!!” She continued to struggle, but he just wasn’t letting go. ”Kai, put me the fuck down!” And when he didn’t listen, she snarled and bit him. She attempted to sink her fangs into his neck, the part that connected to the shoulder. It was just a quick bite, hard enough to bleed and hard enough to get her point across.

At least she was showing signs of life. It made him a little less paniced that she was at least half-awake and he felt her muscles flexing as he ran with her, holding her to him tightly. Axelle was still bleeding, her fur matted with crimson, rubbing off on his own though it quickly got lost in his dark colouring. And then, his mate began squirming in his arms, her voice ringing in his ears as she once more called for her mother. Axelle hadn't told him much about her mother, only that she had been murdered by her father. It was the reason that Axelle had been so Hellbent on going after her father for so long, and Kai couldn't blame her. As he sprinted for the caves of Anathena, he heard Axelle snarl in his arms, the sound causing a chill to run through his veins. She must have been in so much pain... Kai didn't for one split second assume that the growl was aimed at him.

As the black-and-white female struggled yet more in his arms, his grip about her tightened to stop herself struggling out of his arms. His attention was fixed ahead of him, to getting Axelle home, to getting her help. But her own paniced cries to be let down fell on Kai's deaf ears - he wasn't putting her down until he reached a medic. Then, he was forced to slow down his run as Axelle suddely lifted her head in amongst all her squirming and sank her fangs into his shoulder. Immediatly, Kai growled and his movements slowed as his attention now fixed upon that bite. Issuing his own snarl, Malakai stumbled a little before pulling to a stop. He was quick to lower to his knees and lay Axelle down as carefully as he could, growling a little as he felt her bite sting his shoulder. Once she was set down, Kai stumbled back from her, his hand reaching to feel where she had sunk her fangs into him. "Axelle, you need help!! There's blood... everywhere... Please let me take you to a medic!" Kai knew time was important here and he didn't want to waste any of it with a stupid little arguement over her wounded pride. "We're nearly home! Please let me carry you the rest of the way and you can get patched up!"

[html](515) I PMed you. Read that before you answer Smile

The bite seemed to work. He slowed and dropped her, carefully to the ground, snarling and backing away from her. Good. Her weak body rolled to stand, and she overlooked herself. There was much blood leaking out of her female organs… the very essence of life she once carried within her leaking out by the second. There was nothing she could do about it. Her babies were coming out in pieces, bloody pieces, lifeless pieces and there was nothing to be done. She lost them.

Half a growl and half a whimper escaped her throat as she watched the blood leak from her. All her other wounds would heal in time, but this one… This one would bother her for the longest. It was her fault. She fucked this up; she killed her pups, again. Kai’s pups. The pups she had been excited about for once. They were gone. In bloody pieces along the way – probably mostly stuck in the thick fur of her hind legs. She sat, cold and bloody and wet. She looked around confused, a faint whimper bunching up in her throat. She sighed, and looked around. ”Mom! You said you would protect me! What about now?! Huh?! What the fuck about now?!!?!” She snarled and screamed at the top of her lungs into the air. Her voice broke as she reached higher levels of hysteria. She stood quickly and snarled looking around her, ignoring Kai for the moment. When she saw nothing and no one else around her except for her horse following slowly behind them, she sat again. There was no one around but them. Nothing that could help her. No one that could collect the broken pieces of her pups and put them back together. Nothing.

She sat and looked up at Kai. There were tears in her eyes now. ”What have I done?”, she said it in a harsh whisper, and she kept her body low in form. She hunched over, humble and hurt, and whimpered. ”There gone! In bloody pieces all over the fucking pack lands!” It turned from a harsh whisper to a scream at him. It was his fault, no it wasn’t. It was hers. And her father’s, but mostly hers. She chose to put them in danger, and she did.

She rose again, and backed away from him. ”You don’t deserve this, Kai. You need someone who won’t do stupid shit like this. Someone who won’t kill your pups. Not a murderer like me. Someone good.” More tears streamed down her face, and despite her wounds and leaking life essence, she turned from him and ran. She ran at the fullest speed she could, away from him, hoping he wouldn’t follow.

He didn’t deserve this, he deserved something better. He didn’t deserve to be hurt or trapped. He didn’t deserve to have to watch over her all the time. He deserved to have someone he could trust and have a happy life with. She was damned to be alone, and she would be alone. She wouldn’t let anyone else be hurt by her antics.

As Kai's hand pressed against the bite wound she had created, he watched his mate as realization fully dawned upon her what had happened, and his heart felt heavy, like lead. Everything inside of him felt like that. His head lowered a little as she yelled to her mother, but soon enough, her anger and grief and pain were soon aimed directly at him. She shouted at him that their pups were gone as if it was his fault. Perhaps it was, to a degree. He should have been there to protect Axelle. He should never have let her leave to meet her father, to fight him, especially knowing that she was pregnant. The risks were too high, but he had promised her he wouldn't go. Now look what had happened.

Instantly, Kai's blood flared up as he was accused of being solely to blame. He wanted to yell back at her, that it was she that had been so desperate to meet Tyko, that she had been the one to persuade him not to go with her, that she had been so bent on revenge that she had ignored the fact that she carried new life inside of her belly, that it had to be protected. But nothing came from his mouth. His head remained bowed as he took her yells, her abuse, knowing this was her initial way of dealing with it all. He would let her shout, he would let her attack him in that moment, and he would take it without dishing any of his own.

He braced himself for an attack, closed his eyes briefly, but opened them once more when she spoke of him not deserving this, of someone better, someone good, and despite her injuries, he saw her turn and run off. His first instinct was to chase her, to follow closeby. She was still bleeding, after all, still hurt. But he knew her reaction if he did - she would feel trapped, smothered by him, by his presence. She had already made it quite clear that she could barely stand the sight of him lately. And so, despite all logic and reasoning, he let her go. His eyes lowered to the ground and he saw the blood there that had leaked from Axelle. Malakai's eyes began to sting with tears and his throat locked with emotion. Sitting there, alone now, in the forest, the aggressive, stubborn black male cried for the litter he had lost, for the pups he would never see, never hold. His form sank as he sobbed quietly to himself, his hand reaching out for the small puddle of blood already vanishing into the forest floor.

He remained there for a little while, grieving, until the tears slowed in their descent. Wiping his face with his hands, trying to hide the wet matted fur there, he climed to his feet, the world seeming a little more stable in his view now. Axelle was hurt and she needed to get back to the caverns so a medic could take a look at her. That was his main priority right now, the only thing he would focus on, and so setting off after his mate, all he had to do was follow the scent of her blood.
