Caravan Plot Thread

Adrian was busy checking to make sure everything was ready. The caravan was all set up. The pack had gathered up some supplies that they could spare. Other members had pitched in, suppling art and differen't crafts. Even Hotaru, who he was still convinced hated him, had given him some of her statues. She had told him it was only for the pack and he had believed her. But they had gathered a good bit and hopefully they would return with more than they left with. Adrian checked the horses, making sure that they had water and were doing okay.

Adrian would be riding the caravan, probably driving it. He had told those who had agreed to accompany him that some of them would have to bring their own horses to ride. And Skye had pointed out that if they didn't have a horse themselves, the pack's communual horses were available. Then it was just a matter of seeing who would go. He had gathered a good group. There would be guards for the caravan, since Adrian wasn't sure he trusted some of the other packs up north. He had heard some bad things about the coyote pack. And the mean smelling pack was up north. However, Adrian had heard of a few, more friendly packs up there. New Dawn was the one he had planned on heading too. All of the packs near Cercatori d'Arte had been hit just as hard because they were along the coast. So they weren't available to trade with. So they were forced to go north to trade.

Adrian sighed, looking up from the ropes he had been checking. He looked around. People would be arriving soon. Members of Casa Di Cavalieri had arrived in the pack recently and had hoped onto the trip at the last minute. It was welcome, since, as someone had pointed out, the visitors would serve as good guards. So Adrain had put together a small trading party in the after math of a hurricane in a pack he had just newly joined. He had to take a second to enjoy that. Then he back to pacing, waiting for the others to arrive. Maybe Skye would even show up to see them off, like she mentioned she might. Adrian nodded to himself, going over the check list again in his head.

Adelle had headed over to Cercatori d'Arte after the storm had blown over to help out. She had wanted to aid their allies and prove herself strong. There had been quite a lot of work to do, all of which she had done with a smile on her face. When she'd heard that there was a trade group heading north Adelle had decided it was a good opportunity to check out the packs in the north and get to know them better. Confident of her skills she'd volunteered to act as a guard, and signed up for the group.

Oplader stood beside her, the black stallion snorting and stamping his hooves as he waited for them to leave. He had seen some of the mares that were being brought along, and was eager to impress them. Adelle had heard the suggestion of gelding him to make him more controllable, but all the energy inside him just excited Adelle, and she easily controlled him with her strength. The fact that others had more trouble with the excitable stallion didn't bother her as she stood close by, watching the others prepare.

Sitting upon Huddie's back, Edgar saw the dog luperci with the scent of another territory turn toward him. He figured she must have been a guard, there weren't that many burly luperci living in Cercatori D'Arte; the majority of them were artists, merchants, or musicians. The female's male steed took interest in Huddie - all the other horses he'd come across so far with her had done so too. The horse's tail calmly swished as he took a nip at the white mare. Edgar smiled, he had found out from his horse interacting with another equine that this was a playful action. The mare's head lifted up, not used to other horses having the courage to do this. Her eyes softened, taking curious sniffs of him with her neck extended out toward the horse. The male equine's rider said a few words to Edgar. The Brittany figured they were kind, reassuring words by the way she gave him a soft smile and a nod. The dog gave her a sweet smile, appreciating her welcome; even though he couldn't hear it. The artist was excited to see Skye and her two pups walk up to the group, it was kind of her to be there to wish them good luck. As his eyes met those of her little boy's, his grin grew. His last encounter with his pack-leader and her two children involved him handing the pups candy. This trip would be an interesting opportunity for the male.

Skye was glad that Adrian took up the responsibility of trading for new supplies; she knew that Cercatori d'Arte needed it, and dearly. Although they had done the job of repairing the town, and even expanding it (although there was still work to be done), the repairs had left them with little supplies left over, and they needed to restock in case another tragedy, no matter how unwelcome, befell them.

She had not forgotten Hotaru's warning - not in the least. But Edgar and Keldava were going with Adrian, and Keldava was a skilled warrior - so were the Cavalieris who accompanied them on their trip. If not one was trustworthy, then none were - and she did not believe that for a second.

She arrived where the caravan was hitched up to two horses, nickering and rearing their heads - they were energetic, and ready to go, something that could also be said for the d'Artisans. She had appreciated the offer of the Cavalieris to go and guard them - there were hostile packs in the north, and she would take no chances.

"Good luck," she said to Adrian as she saw him, moving to clasp her hand on his shoulder and smile. In her other hand were her pups, grinning and lolling out their tongues. They did not know what was going on just yet, but it was full of excitement and others around them, and they enjoyed the company.

Keldava clanked along wearily as she made her way to the caravan. In truth the mix wasn’t particularly bothered about heading up on a trade trip at the moment with the trip to Freetown that her and Gina would be undertaking soon, especially since she wouldn’t be trading anything as all her supplies were destined for said trip. Still as a Sentinel (The only active Sentinel in fact with Jace being demoted to omega and busy with the new pups) it was Keldava’s duty to help out guarding things such as this, especially since the hurricane would have left many Luperci desperate and willing to attack the caravan and steal supplies.

Plus Casa di Cavalieri were supplying some guards and like hell was Keldava gonna let members of a foreign pack do her duties for her. Keldava had been late waking today – between the exhaustion from sheltering in Halifax during the hurricane and helping with the repair work she was exhausted – but she didn’t show it, simply arriving at a brisk walk, hands busy double checking her sword and belt-quiver were securely attached and a piece of salted meat slowly disappearing into her muzzle as she chewed hands free.

”Morning.” she called out to the assembled Luperci, handing out greeting nods and smiles to all – Skye’s were accompanied by a respectful flutter of her ears downwards for a second as always – while trying to hide the tinge of resentment that sprung up inside her as she saw Adelle. Guarding the caravan was far from a game or a competition but that didn’t stop the young wolf from feeling put out that she wasn’t considered enough protection – right as that statement probably was.

Her ears perked up as she noticed Skye was holding her pups. Keldava hadn’t seen the pups before and as she passed Skye she leant in slightly, not too close but enough for her to get a quick sniff of them on her way to the caravan. ”Got my stuff ready for Freetown, me an Gina should be heading out soon after this caravan returns. If you think of anything else you want me to try and get ahold of, jus’ come an find me when I get back.” Keldava said quietly to Skye as she passed her.

Keldava didn’t have her own horse and she wasn’t much of a rider at all. The only horse she might have trusted to carry her was Snowdrop and she wanted the communal horse as rested as possible since she was going to be using her for the Freetown expedition. Instead the black and yellow dog clambered carefully atop the caravan’s roof, sitting far back enough that she wasn’t in Adrian’s way but could still see everything easily. Perched in position Keldava carefully pulled her bow off her back and strung it, letting the weapon rest on her lap. Keldava’s hand still pained her when she shot and her accuracy was nothing like it once was but she could hopefully hit something in a pinch; more likely she would more useful as a deterrent than in a fight, the sight of her bow and vantage point making possible attackers think twice.

Personal preparations done Keldava had nothing to do but sit back and wait for everyone to set off.

As people started to show up Adrian could barely contain his excitment. The time was finally here when they would begin the final preparation to leave. All of his planning had come together for this moment and he was giddy to finally be helping the pack in some way. Adrian nodded to a few as they arrived. Then he went back to pacing. Adrian wasn't sure what all he would be able to bring back, but he hoped it would be something useful.

Adrian waved as he saw her and her pups in tow. He was grinning like a fool when she walked up to him and wished him luck. Adrian was glad, happy that the pack leader saw his efforts and appreciated them. "Thank you. We won't come back empty handed." He assured her, glancing at the pups and smiling. If Adrian wasn't so ready to be off, he would have pulled out his instruments from the caravan and play for them. But the time of thier departure was drawing closer and closer. As the sentinel of the pack arrived, Keldava he remembered her name was, she exchanged a few words with Skye. When she was done talking Adrian looked around and called out, "Is this everyone? We will be leaving soon. There is still one more seat on the caravan for anyone else who wishes to take it." He called out as he watched Keldava climb on top. the left the seat next to him open. Adrian couldn't remember everyone who had agreed to go, but he would wait a few more minutes for them to show up.

OOC here!

Adelle tugged on Oplader's reins as he leaned forwards with excitement with the arrival of a white mare. She seemed much more rambunctious than her rider, a silent dog that was clearly far more nervous than anyone Adelle would have thought would come on the trip. She smiled brightly at him and walked over, patting Oplader gently as he strained to reach the mare. Hey, don't worry. Everything will be good on the trip. Not her most winning introduction, but Adelle was doing real guard work for the first time and was actually pretty excited about it. It would have worked out better if Oplader hadn't decided to try and show off.

He tossed his head high and reached forwards to nip at the mare. Sharply Adelle tugged on his reins, forcing the rebellious stallion backwards. No, Oplader! She smiled at the sight of Skye with pups in her arms. Cercatori d'Arte's leader was something else. She watched another young pup clamber up, one that had coloring very similar to her own. They both had weapons as well. Was this Cercatori d'Arte's guard? No wonder they needed Casa's help. They were using a pup, and a tiny one at that! Adelle puffed out her chest, deciding that she was going to be well and important for this trip. Grabbing the saddle she mounted Oplader and guided him near the front, glancing over to Adrian. Ready.
