Her worst fears had come true. Little Eden had been all but totally destroyed by the massive flooding, but within the storm there was light. The tractor tires Palaydrian had assembled for fertile planting ground remained and the things she had harvested and buried before the hurricane hit, were recovered and still in tact. She had plenty of dried flowers and herbs, seeds, and gourds to work with, and of course a lot of work to do if she wanted her garden up and running next year. She mourned her transplants for a bit as she cleaned up the wreckage in the garden and reweaved the chicken wire fence. It would take some time for the water to evaporate and dissipate back into the earth, but before she left her once flower dotted sanctuary, Drin hung up the windchime Jiva had given her on one of the sturdy trees that remained a steadfast guardian to Eden.

Feeling sick with the work that had to be done, Drin aimlessly began padding back to the den site. Until that water dried up, she couldn’t really do anything, but at least the important things had been salvaged. There would always be a time for regrowth and at the moment she simply needed to let it go and move on. Her mind began to wander and she thought about how her friends were faring in Sangi’lak after the hurricane. She and Jiva had helped them out a few months ago, establishing a camaraderie within a few of their members and extending New Dawn’s hospitality to their pack. She was sure Zalen wouldn’t object to a little party lending some aide if the nomads needed it, so she lifted her maw to the sky. Calling any of her brothers and sisters to meet her near the den...in reality, Drin just needed to get away from her homelands for a bit, little Eden would have to wait.

Stowing two bags of her goods near the den entrance temporarily, Palaydrian shifted back to her lupine form and sat back on her haunches waiting to see if anyone else shared her sentiment of wanting to lend a paw. She was sure Jiva would come along, but her mind flitted to Leaf and her heart sunk a bit. No way was she bringing her child to Sangi’lak, she just remembered their fondness of fox pelt trophies and she simply couldn’t take the risk. It was something she’d have to discuss with her mate as she was sure he’d insist on accompanying her. It wasn’t as if they could keep Leaf’s reddening coat a secret there, but maybe someone within the pack would be willing to watch him while his parents were gone. Fayne would be perfect! She thought to herself, knowing the expecting mother wouldn’t be able to get into any real trouble under Noah and the pack’s careful watch. She’d definitely have to ask the woman before she left. For now she’d wait, standing up to send another song into the air calling for aid.

Jiva had watched the child while she was looking after her garden and seeing as to what she could and couldn’t salvage. Jiva was beginning to care deeply for the boy and his playfulness helped Jiva who tended to be playful himself. The kit was adorable and he was starting to feel glad that Drin had brought him, even if it gave the man a few metaphorical grey hairs in the process. He was playing with Leaf once again now that Tharin was gone. The man had put Jiva on edge and luckily it wasn’t much he needed to worry about. Zalen had after all accepted the kit, though Jiva had never really understood how that worked out, he was not with Drin when it all happened.

His mate’s howl pierced his ears and they perked, interested he picked up the kit in his mouth who protested loudly for a little while but soon stopped defeated. He hurried to the cave not wanting to hurt the boy and also wanting to get there as fast as he could to see what she wanted. When she got there, he put the boy down so that he could run over to her and complain about Jiva. The man grinned at his mate and nuzzled at her chin “He’s going to be a great hunter when he gets older I guarantee that” He chuckled at the boy who had been wrestling with Jiva. he was brave, when he tried. He would become strong,though being a fox he would not be as big not as strong as the wolves that surrounded him. He looked over at his mate expectantly wagging his tail. After the hurricane things had been much like the water around them, and the storm that had passed through not more than a day ago. He could tell she was restless as he was so he would help her in any way he could
