Jiva and Drin are saying their goodbyes, feel free to have your characters come see them off. Dated for 10/01

EDIT: Since this is turning into a completely informal pack thread, please know there is no longer any posting order. (That way mini conversations can be played out, etc.)

The trip to Sangi’lak had been exactly what the woman needed, a little respite to clear the air of the growing tensions within New Dawn before and after the hurricane. However, not two days from when she and her mate arrived back within the glen eyrie and scooped up their child, Palaydrian felt a shift in wind...physically and emotionally. Things had changed dramatically while the two had been gone and after much discussion, the tears, and pouring out of frustrations, the two decided New Dawn was no longer their home. Feeling sickened within their own pack lands was no way to live and yet they’d done so for the past month, but enough was enough. Their closest friends knew their reasons why and hell there was no arguing with their sentiments, every bit of it true in the fibers of their being, but goodbyes were always painful...but no worse than what the pair were turning into. Bitter, angry, and constantly on edge. These were the negative feelings that constantly oppressed the sweet and gentle Omega.

She had had enough, and was relieved to discover she wasn’t alone. Jiva listened to her and his feelings were the same. They’d leave in the morning and that was that. The time for discussion and being persuaded to stay had passed, with a heavy heart growing steadily lighter with their final decision, the two would depart.

Little Eden would be missed. Amongst the wreckage of the garden, Drin collected all her things; storing dried herbs and flowers into rabbit hide bags, seeds, gourd bowls, bird houses, tools, and the scraps she had been making into deerskin slings, the windchime, all of it that spoke of her existence here was neatly packed away and tucked into the numerous hides she and her lover had worked on. The satchel she’d received in Casa di Cavalieri was converted with a few leather strips to create a type of carrier for Leaf. He hated it of course, as any young child hates being confined, but it made carrying him a handsfree event as both she and the former Delta would need as much arm and hand space as possible to carry the things they’d been collecting. Funny how they lived in a wild pack and yet this little hoard of theirs (all natural of course) had gone unnoticed or rather they hadn’t realized how much stuff was accumulating overtime.

Drin couldn’t bare to part with some of the things she’d created with her harvest of gourds, but luckily the hollowed out cases were light and Jiva didn’t protest...much, when she strapped two more onto the five he already was carrying. She had to make sure they’d have enough water and food for their journey and though they had otterskin bags full to the brim, an extra gourd or two filled up at deer lake wouldn’t hurt. The seeds were the most important thing in the golden woman’s mind. They dangled, protected between her breasts within a leather pouch tied around her neck, she’d see her garden flourish once more in a different place and a different time, but these were the vessels of regrowth...holding so much symbolism in their small hardcased bodies.

Zalia and Tobias were instructed to seek them out later, and the two seemed to prefer flying separately above from their companions, much preferring the air over a jouncy shoulder of a wolf on a hillside trek. With a tearful look back at the garden that once was, Palaydrian’s hand slipped into Jiva’s and the two headed back towards the lake where Sky’s medical hut was being rebuilt.

Leaf dreamed on peacefully against Palaydrian’s abdomen, his cheek nestled against the bottom of the seed-bearing pouch. The sun had yet to burn off the early morning fog, it was only a few hours from dawn, and their surroundings were still. Even the birds seemed to be more reserved this somber morning. An array of slings, pouches, bags, and gourds lay against the damp ground on the borders. It was here where they’d make their final goodbyes. Drin had fashioned her long hair into low side pony, finding the wavy tendrils a good distraction and quick covering for Leaf for when he’d wake up. The boy would be disoriented, but mother’s milk seemed to keep him in a coma for a few hours. Her ocean eyes were still swimming from earlier, but after looking to her mate and receiving his nod of assurance, she lifted her maw to the sky and sang out her mournful song.

Rain comes over the grey hills,
And on the air, a soft goodbye.
Hear the song that I sing to you,
When the time has come to fly.

The friendships and bonds they made would be missed, but never forgotten.

The grapevine of information wasn't easy to find, but when Adonia caught wind of Palaydrian leaving her heart broke a little. She liked the woman, not to mention her kit. Adonia ran as fast as her Optime form would allow her on fours. Adonia was almost halfway through her pregnancy and already knew that her body wasn't able to do too much. But she had to see Palaydrian off. Her hands pushed off the ground lightly, and with grace as her legs pushed her forward. The husky in her blood helped to her to go fast, faster than most would. Her eyes spotted the Soul woman and slowed down to a halt standing upright, and out of breath, "Palaydrian! Why..I..I'm sorry you're leaving! I wish you wouldn't go!" Her eyes filled with the saddest of gleams. "...thank you for all you've done for me when I got injured....I was happy to meet Leaf...and finally become acquainted with you.." Her head lowered and she wiped her eyes trying to stop their watering. She sniffled softly, "....do...do you really have to leave?" She whimpered holding herself tightly.

For once in Adonia's life she had thought she might have been able to find a friend in Palaydrian. She had been sorely wrong...but at least she could have dreamed. Her eyes found Leaf tucked to the Persian colored female. "...I'm going to miss you a lot too little kit. I wish we could have been play friends..maybe I'll find you to visit...we can play and have adventures...if mom allows it.."

OOC here!

How could they leave the pack? New Dawn needed every member right now. The hurricane had left a mess behind, and it was going to take a fair amount of work to get it cleared up. They had to fix the borders, and patrol, and work to catch the monster that stalked New Dawn. Yet two of it's members were leaving. Why would they betray the pack like that? Angry Tharin approached the pair, eyes glittering. He could understand Jiva leaving perhaps. The male had always struck him as rather odd. Drin's leaving hurt though, knowing he was losing a friend.

He didn't make it the rest of the way down, just watching as Drin and Jiva prepared to leave. The mournful song that poured from Drin only fueled his bitterness. Lifting his own head Tharin howled, a deep wild sound that echoed through the hills. He still stood where he was, not ready to leave. He was the beta of the pack now, and he had to watch them. They were no longer pack, and could no longer be trusted. The severed ties were painful, but he would have the strength to treat them as strangers if they met again.

Word Count :: 346 OOC: Jiva is optime, and laden with a few leather bags of sorts and whatever else drin Draped over the poor guy Wink

Their homecoming was not so much as a coming hom as he had hoped and soon things semed to fall apart in his head. Drin spoke her concerns and he spoke his to her. They had made a final decision and Jiva’s heart grew lighter just from that alone. He stayed quiet as he helped Palaydrian pack up her things and he packed his own as well, the many furs he had collected, though would not give away, the leather he had made as well, the knives that were his present from Drin, as well other assorted tools he used to skin his animals and worked with. His bags were full and he thought about how he did not always tend to move to the direction of New Dawn but sought more, like his father, who was no traditional wolf either. He followed his mate, giving her the comfort she would need. He would folllow her and she would follow him. He knew that much. He was quiet as she looked at him meaningful, then gave a howl to let the pack know they were saying goodbye. Tharin was the one to answer them first, though he was far off, and only answered with a howl. Jiva was thankful the man did not come down. He wasn’t sure how he would be treated or the other way around.

It was Adonia who came right up to see them first, he was quiet and stood beside Drin the whole time, though was entirely ignored, but then again they barely knew each other. He had helped her out only with her pregnancy, but he guessed his help nor words were not much to the woman. He closed in the space of his mate, and put his hand around her shoulder, as a comfort to her just in case she got emotional in any way. He wanted her well when they headed out. That was all he asked for was Drin’s and Leafs’ safety. He only nodded to Adonia though doubted he would be noticed at all.

Ciara O'Callahan

OOC: Sorry she's bitchy. Sad Bye guys!

The golden Epsilon heard the goodbye song and stopped immediately. She’d been out to visit the pup Saki, since Augustus wouldn’t let them keep her in their den, but now she licked at the pup’s face and reassured her that she’d return quickly. Then she picked herself up and trotted to the place the howl had come from. First she came across Tharin, and rubbed flanks with him in a gesture that hoped to comfort. She dipped her head and tail lower than his, seeing as he was her Beta now, and stood with him to watch the departure.

She, too, was too hurt to go down. The wolf hadn’t gotten to know Palaydrin much, except for the one time they’d had that odd tea together, and she got the feeling the blonde wolf didn’t understand her relationship with Augustus. Still, she held no bitterness for the woman…until now. Not knowing Drin’s reasons, Ciara could only feel anger at the pair for leaving at a time when the pack needed them most. Her earthen eyes stared at them in disbelief, first Drin, who had done so much…then Jiva, the cousin of the very Alphess they were mourning the absence of.

She scoffed lightly, leaning into Tharin and lifting her maw to give a short, dismissive bark at the pair. If they were going to cop out now, then she’d have no sadness over their departure.

Good riddance.

When Palaydrian and Jiva had come to Zalen with the sudden and unexpected news of their decision to leave Zalen had felt his heart break, especially so soon after Lena had come to him asking for his blessing to leave as well. He understood things had been difficult for them lately; things had been difficult for everyone, so their choice to leave left him somewhat wanting. But he could not deny their hearts desire to seek out a new home, perhaps one where their more human nature could shine and their adopted kit would not be looked down upon. He understood they were doing what was best for their small family, and he could not blame them for that.

Palaydrian’s goodbye call lured him out from the den, where he had been moping. He trotted briskly to the borders, and strode up beside Tharin and Ciara just as his newly appointed Beta let out a goodbye howl of his own. Zalen did not rush down to Jiva and Drin as Adonia did, but his olive eyes watched full of sadness as the future mother of his children bade the woman who had been so venomous to her goodbye. Adonia amazed Zalen, that she could be so caring for someone who had a low opinion of her. The dark Alpha let out a sigh and sat back on ebony haunches, an ear flicking over to Ciara as she barked at them as if to say “good riddance” and scoffed. This was a tragic event… things had been tragic in New Dawn as of late.

Zalen lifted his head and let out a long, sorrowful and booming call; “Goodbye brother, goodbye sister. Let your paws carry you swiftly to your dreams.” It said. Though he knew Jiva, Palaydrian and Lena were going to be safe in Vinatta, it was almost as if they were dying in a sense. It frightened him, though he would never admit it. As he watched them depart, he remembered the first time he had met Jiva; they had fought a cougar together; Jiva had saved his life. And when Palaydrian had first come, she was injured and afraid but soon blossomed into a cheerful and wonderful woman. The two of them now were like wilted flowers in New Dawn; it was best that they seek out new, fertile grounds.

When the howl had sounded, it did not come much to a surprise to Lena as it did with the rest of the pack. Instead, her tail wagged somberly behind her, and she padded towards the borders, somewhat in a rush but also taking her time, in a way. She was more aware with every paw step she took, knowing that it'd perhaps be a long time before she would be here again. Some form of sadness struck her, but she did not allow herself to pause in her step.

Other pack members had appeared before her, but she did not sense their tension or their slight bitterness--she was awfully unaware of their true emotions to Jiva's and Palaydrian's departure, and mistook their distance as grief. A sad but hopeful smile came across her face as she approached closer to the small group, and her lingering prescene, as well as the sign that she was in her two-legged form, showed that she was not here to say goodbye herself. She was not sure how others would react to her own leaving, but she did not think that they would react poorly, at least.

She had nothing to say as she stood nearby, just merely "staring" off into the distance and listening the mournful howls of her pack mates and her alpha.

Emotional wreck, she is. Made use of Cody's pNPC status here, too. All three are in Optime form. I just found out about Lena with this, btw. x: MY BABY!

The call of her friend, her sister, so mournful and sad, was enough to pull her away from her work. She'd buried herself in it, trying to forget all about the horrible things that had happened to the one place she felt was fully hers. The clinic. It was a mess, but with the pack's help, they'd gotten a lot of it cleaned up. The rest of the task fell upon her and Shawchert, though she was delighted when Cody came to offer them some help. She hadn't seen much of her son and daughter lately. They'd been so busy with their new rank, it was hard to keep track of them anymore.

He didn't come bearing good news, though. "Mom," He'd said, voice flat with controlled pain. "Lena's leaving New Dawn." His words had stricken her hard enough to stop her cold. Shawchert turned to look, torn ears perking and blue eyes snapping to Sky in concern. She stood there, frozen in time for a moment... then smiled softly. She opened her mouth to speak again, but that was when Drin's call sounded out nearby. She turned to hear it and Cody growled softly. "That would be them." Palaydrin was leaving too? What of Jiva? Leaf?

She glanced once at Shawchert and then darted outside, not bothering to shift down from her optime form. Cody and Shawchert hurried along behind her, though the younger kept pace with the crippled elder, not looking forward to any of it. Sky didn't pause. She darted over but stopped beside Zalen, ears disappearing behind short hair, true sorrow written on her face. She whined sharply as Zalen lifted his voice in goodbye and she lost it. Two of her closest friends and apparently her daughter, leaving. The alpha's call was just an added blow.

Shawchert and Cody arrived just in time to catch Sky, who, nearing her season, was a victim to her emotions. She howled out in grief, though the sound was more like a cry. She turned away from it all, pushing her face into Shawchert's chest and refusing to watch them go. It wouldn't have been so bad, had she not have suffered through so much stress already.

Cody noticed Lena as she arrived. With a soft growl, he nudged his mother slightly to gain her attention. The wolfdog peered out and upon seeing her daughter, ready and willing to leave, she found her nerve again. "Lena Rhiannon." She spoke sternly, approaching the girl with steady steps and upon reaching her, pulling her into a tight hug. It wasn't all love and daisies, though. As long as Lena didn't pull away, she had a few words to say to her daughter. "Where are you going? Why didn't you talk to me first?" She murmured, obviously hurt at the surprise but otherwise not as angry as she could've been. She just wanted to know why. She pulled back, holding the girl's shoulder in one hand and using the other to gently brush her hair away from her face. "I'll not let you go unless I know where to visit." She stated firmly, her voice on the brink of tears again as she looked at her daughter's face, how grown up she'd become.

Sky Rhiannon

Gomenasai till the end
I never needed a friend, like I do now.

The bitter-laden howl that returned her song of heartfelt goodbyes felt like a slap in the face. Tharin, her brother, her friend...how could he so easily deny the love in her voice and shame her with his defiance. She and her mate weren’t betraying the pack, they simply no longer belonged here. This was something Zalen understood, and perhaps his mind was the only one that mattered. The golden fae shook her head sadly and closed her eyes, opening she squeezed Jiva’s hand hard. A fiery resolve remained in her eyes. This disillusioned mind set turning her friend more feral than good was simply another reason why they couldn’t stay. They were no longer like-minded and having the ability to become cold within a second was nothing that resembled pack or family. His reaction only beat the same chord of horror within the woman’s heart. All things pack, all things honor and love...this wasn’t it at all. No, those sentiments were being replaced by wildness...and this wasn’t the life she wanted to live. If her brothers and sisters wanted to beat their chests, tear out their hair, and stomp their feet on team misunderstanding, than they could go for it. All that mattered was truth, and if they had maturity and pushed their stubbornness aside, they would’ve gotten their answer for the lover’s seemingly “abandonment.”

I’ve given them everything.

The woman that rushed down the hill of gathering observers surprised Palaydrian and completely caught her off guard. The smile forming on her lips couldn’t be hidden now, as an odd feeling of relief washed over her. Here was Adonia, the she wolf Drin couldn’t possibly begin to forgive or even trust until her mourning for Titania had been put to rest and yet, the girl was pouring her heart out to her. Sure Drin had defended her from the badger and taken care of her cuts by the lake, but if Leaf hadn’t been there, the angel would’ve remained cold and indifferent, chastising her for her foolishness when she carried the gift of life in her belly. However, today the chip on her shoulder began to crack, it could’ve been because they were leaving, or maybe the fact that love was coming in a form she would’ve never seen it manifesting. Her hands seemed to have a mind of their own as they reached out for the expecting woman on the verge of tears. That’s what p-...sisters do... her voice felt choked, was she really about to cry? What was this feeling? Why now of all times did she even want to hug this woman...the “other” woman to Titania? She angrily wiped a tear that threatened to fall from her eye, before clearing her throat. I’m afraid so. We don’t fit in here anymore, she said softly. The call for more humanistic ways has been beckoning us for some time now, and the hurricane...well it was like a sign from Luna. Destroying everything that tied us to these lands. With heavy hearts we leave our friends and family behind, but please know Adonia... the hard-to-swallow feeling was returning, I forgive you.

This is my first step towards healing.

She didn’t think the woman would understand, or maybe she would, but Drin immediately felt lighter, turning her attention to the sleeping kit and allowing the hybrid to touch him if she wanted to. I won’t be a stranger to New Dawn, and though I’m sure some would protest to my visiting, she cast her view up to the hill and gave a comic eye roll, I promise you’ll see him again someday....bigger and stronger than he is now. Zalen’s howl now filled the air, warming her heart with his blessing in the wind. She knew the dark king wouldn’t come down, and perhaps that was best. Saying goodbye to the first face she had met the other night had been hard enough. Her eyes cast to the dark optime lingering nearby. Lena? She inquired softly, but suddenly there was more commotion on the ledge as Shawchert, Sky, and Cody appeared. Drin cast her questioning gaze to her mate. What do you think is happening up there? She asked, though it was fairly clear why Lena chose to stand on two legs instead of four. She’d be going with them. The panic and extreme sadness radiating off of Sky broke Palaydrian’s heart, she quickly strode up the hill to be by her friend ready to offer support where she could give it, but this was between the medic and her daughter.

It was a relief to be hugged. She didn't want to push herself into a hug if the woman didn't want it, but obviously she needed it. Adonia hugged her back making sure not to harm the kit. It was a tight hug, and she nuzzled into the woman to comfort her. She whimpered softly as they pulled away the woman answered her questions. Adonia didn't know the woman well, but she thought she had fit fine here in New Dawn. But not everyone was against human relics. Adonia was one who actually admired and found the human items educational. One could learn a lot of human things. There was good in them, not all was tainted and evil. The woman then spoke of forgiveness. Her ears flicked forward as she tried to think what she could be forgiving her for. Perhaps it was when she scolded her about putting her unborn in harms way. The woman was very upset about that. Or...maybe she was one of the many that was upset with her for letting Zalen mate with her. Maybe that was it? But the woman never confronted her on it? So it was probably for putting the pup's in harms way. "It's okay, Palaydrian...I understand.." She hugged the woman again with a wag of her tail waving vigorously behind her.

Her eyes looked back to the others on the hill. Many weren't very nice to her. Ciara barked a good riddance and Tharin seemed the most angry. Her ears went back and she wanted to bristle, but didn't. She wasn't happy with them for seeing her off like that. She looked back to Palaydrian. "Whenever you return to visit us, I will not allow them to make your visit unwelcomed. You may not be a pack mate anymore, but you're always a sister. You shouldn't be greeted with hostility. I may not have witnessed all you had done for this pack, but I know you were always there for them. Kiara, Zalen, and Titiana. You cared for all the pack as though they were your own flesh and blood, and for that you should be seen off with nothing but support and love." She pulled back so her eyes could look down to the sleeping form of Leaf and lightly brush her index finger over his cheek, "You're the cutest thing ever..." She cooed to the sleeping form. "I can't wait to see how a great herbalist and strong boy he will grow up to be. I'm sure the pack you join will certainly value his talents. I know I got to see a glimpse of how smart he is. You must be proud!"

Suddenly, her eyes found what must have been Skye's offspring, Lena. Things suddenly tensed in the air, and she looked up to the small gathering. Palaydrian strode up the hill and Adonia followed to make sure peace was maintained since she knew at least two of the members were in a hostile state of mind. She knew Zalen wouldn't let anything happen, but Adonia wanted to make sure things were smoothed over. Adonia didn't understand why Lena was leaving, but the thought of how Sky must be feeling made her heart ache for her. What if her own offspring decided to leave the pack. Adonia would be worried and a mess wanting to make sure the pups stayed close.

When the howl spread through the air and to the ears of all in New Dawn, Fayne found herself immediately drained of all happiness. Her friend, through everything that has happened, was leaving. This was something that was not to be celebrated. Fayne made her way to the borders where Palaydrian and Jiva were, with all of their things with them ready to take off. It was a sight that brought a soft whine from the Gamma's lips. She didn't want them to leave and found herself tearing up at the simple sight of them standing there. With her hormones causing a ruckus, she couldn't hold back the tears. Her eyes fell over everyone that had come together to wish them off. Another whine poured from her maw as she padded up to Palaydrian on all fours. If not for the children inside of her, she'd gladly shift and embrace the Siamese woman in bear hug. But, that wasn't possible right now. This isn't goodbye Palaydrian, we'll see each other again. I'll make sure of it. There's no way in hell I'm going to say goodbye to you today.

Even though this was sad, the tears lightly falling from her eyes and soaking into her silver pelt, she understood why Palaydrian was doing it right away. There was no need for questioning or begging them to stay, it was just something they needed to do. Fayne understood fully of all the trauma that had happened to her and how she must view these lands now. She needed to see without the sorrowful haze that was placed over these lands so she could find her light again. You two take care of yourselves. You might be leaving New Dawn, but I'll always think of you as a sister. Her eyes fell on Leaf who slept soundly against Paladrian's body. A soft smile came across her lips at the sight of him. He was no puppy, but he was certainly as cute as one. See you later Leaf. Be sure to grow big and strong. My puppies will want to play with you when we see you two again. Another solemn look fell over the Gamma's features as she looked back up to Palaydrian. She couldn't say anything more. For some reason, this was incredibly emotional for her and the tears weren't appreciated. She just couldn't hold them back.

Fayne looked to Jiva. They'd hunted together, and talked. She still never really knew him well but they were pack. Damn tears were interrupting her vision, her head lowered to wipe them on her leg. Her muffled voice sounded as she wiped. I'm gonna miss you guys.... But it was followed by a laugh, despite the tears that fell. She looked up to them and back a few steps up falling beside her pack mates.

Lena felt distant, detached from what was going on around her, as if all that was going on around her was just a buzz in the back of her mind. It was not often she became numb about things, but it felt necessary now. If she became overwhelmed with the sadness of leaving, maybe it would root her to her place, and she would no longer have the nerve to step away. This is what she wanted, and she was not going to let herself change her mind.

But, she had begun to crumble inward at the addition of another mournful howl. She knew the voice as well as she knew herself, and suddenly she felt very small as she felt eyes being pointed at her. The scent of her mother overcame her, and she was wrapped tightly by Sky's arms, and surprising, Lena held on back. Whatever she was expecting from this, it certainly was not her mother's appearance; it had only considered the negative things, and did not calculate her mother into the equation that would equal to her leaving, and the emotion that filled her now smacked her like a runaway train. But, she did not allow the fretting storm to show upon her face.

"I didn't tell you, because I thought you would say no." While her mother did not baby her as much as the pack sometimes did, she did have those doubtful moments that she would be withheld because of something that could not be helped. But, now she regretted not telling her sooner--it was the spur of the moment, and with Jiva and Palaydrian going to the same place, it just felt right to go with them yet she did have the time to tell someone other than Zalen about her leaving.

Hearing the tears in her mother's voice finally broke Lena, and she said hurriedly, "I'm going to V-Vinátta--please don't cry, mama!" She snapped her mouth closed, and she had to force her head from dipping to the ground to keep her chin up. "I... I just want to see more. I love New Dawn, but..." She was able to explain it perfectly to the alpha, so why couldn't she do the same for her dear mother? Words kept choking up, and eventually she stopped trying to talk, and she fell silent, waiting for the demands of her to go back to the den or something that would prevent her to go with the couple.

Yup.

Sky stared hard at her daughter, ignoring the rest as the blind girl explained. Vinatta. That was one of the newer packs. Blue eyes glanced over at Drin and Jiva and for a moment, she scorned them both. However, it faded just as quickly as it came and she looked back to her daughter and with a heavy sigh, accepted it. "...you're all grown up." She whispered at first, then with a stronger voice, continued.

"Go. Live your life. Find love and happiness where ever you go, baby. Show the world how strong you are." She praised, smiling despite the tears in her eyes. "Make me proud, okay?" The promise to visit remained unspoken but as clear as day to anyone. She pulled the girl into another tight hug and shakily sighed into black fur, eyes clenched tight. When she pulled back again, she held the girl by the shoulders at arm's length.

"Remember everything I taught you. Stay safe. Make weakness into Strength." She recited, well taught to her daughter by now. "Remember your family and above all else, survive." She brushed that hair back again and in a moment of silence, looked her daughter over. "...I love you, baby. Go live your life." And with that, she'd let her go. Shawchert shuffled up behind the sad mother and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, which Sky leaned into but did not turn away this time.

Blue eyes turned to Jiva and Drin and in that gaze, a silent plea. Watch over my baby. Keep her safe. Don't let anything happen to her. At the same time, though, she knew her daughter. She knew how well she'd taken to the tough life she'd grown up knowing and she knew the blind girl was as strong and sure-footed as her brother and that was impressive compared to the usual yearling.

Cody dropped his pride just as Sky stepped away and despite his cool demeanor and attitude, the boy came over to hug his sister, their shared language used to say goodbye, sharing love and wishing her well on her travels. When he too stepped back, his features were stiff and tense. Sky reached to rest her hand on her son's shoulder as Shaw was for her and the little family would allow their blind lady to turn away and leave. They would see each other again, and so, they would survive.
