He makes advances till his wheels cease to roll

Kept it rly vague because I was too lazy to look up specifics about where Siv lives and all XD

His children’s mother’s body had already been cold by the time he had arrived home, much too late. He didn’t know exactly how long the newborns had been exposed to the cold, nor if they’d had the time to drink the first, precious drops of nutritious milk. He didn’t know anything, not even the two young children he was clutching against his chest. He’d never dealt with such young puppies in the past – he’d never even seen any – until today. China would have known what to do (she was the one that had wanted children, not he), but she wasn’t here to aid him anymore.

Conscious thoughts avoided his unofficial mate entirely, for he needed to function now. Instead, pale gilded ears perked with quiet intrigue whenever one of the two bundles against his heart mewled out with their tiny voices. It was strange, for it seemed he had always known them. His feet carried him to the witch’s home – one of the few he had decided to be relatively trustworthy within the pack. He wasn’t a paranoid individual, but he wasn’t known to have many friends. Siv had aided him before, and she would do so again. He was but a man, and though he had decided to love the souls he carried, instinct could only grant limited aid.

”Siv?” the tranquil characteristics of his voice were not broken by loss and fresh emotional wounds – at least not at this time. The flawed Lykoi didn’t have the privilege to feel too much at this time. ”Siv, it’s Itachi. I require your aid.” She would know something was wrong soon enough, for his hands and the cover that cradled his children were brightly stained red and brown. Death also had an unmistakable scent that did not easily fade.

The storm had been terrible. Her home had withstood most of the damage well, save for a tear or two on the outside of the yurt’s leather hide, and would be easy to repair. Her own supplies were well off, but she had recognized the dire situation of their lack of healing plants. While stocked with some, winter was fast approaching and without these life-saving medicines, they would be in dire straits. She had resolved to produce items that might bring trade, and while she was in no shape to travel (the bulge in her belly was now more than apparent) she might ask Salvia to send someone, or send Gale herself. As long as she had his daughter, he would never think of fleeing.

So she had taken to remaining indoors and working. A decorated bag had just been finished and her fingers ached from tooling the item. It was pretty and would likely bring profit. She crumbled up bits of dried plants and put them into a large wooden bowl, casting her falcon-purple eyes to the steaming water above her central fire. Not yet, she thought, and stretched luxuriously to shake the stiffness from her bones.

That was when a voice came to her, so terrible and haunted that it rose the hair along her neck. She might not have believed in the gods as fervently as she once did, but nothing would ever shake her superstitions of the supernatural world. Only when it identified itself did she settle, though her heart was racing. A step in his direction brought with it a ghastly smell, and horror replaced fear. She pushed aside the leather flap and took in the sight.

Death clung to him. His hands were the color of old rust and mud, and only when she saw what was within them did she understand. Wide-eyed, she pulled the curtain further back. “In, in,” she ordered, and motioned hurriedly towards the fire. “Sit, hold them to you. Keep them warm.” Orders. She was in a panic, but she was a woman whose spiritual skill was echoed by the limited training of medicine. Childbirth, however, was something she was quite familiar with. She had been alone when Draugr was born and it had helped to steel her notions towards such a thing. Birth was a battle.

China, she feared, had fallen.

Just to clarify, Itachi doesn't display any visual emotions at the moment. Smile

A soundless breath of relief escaped slightly tense lips as the leather flap was pushed aside and the dark woman appeared in the doorway. Had this been a more tranquil scene, he would have lowered his eyes to minimize the chance of eye contact, though now was not the time to focus on unnecessary things such as manners. Her colour-shy eyes widened, though she quickly chose to invite him in. Gratefully, the man lowered his muzzle as he trudged past her into her home, cradling his new-born children closer against his warmth.

Her instructions were simple enough, and easy to follow. It was the one instinct he’d followed from the moment he’d picked them up. They were defenceless and weak, and it was his duty to protect them. The blond man hadn’t managed to save his love, but part of her would live in their two children. But his situation wasn’t an easy one, for there was no mother to feed them. Being a male, he couldn’t do anything in that field.

Once inside, he sat down on the floor, keeping the children bundled up in the softness of the rabbit fur. There was a need to investigate the two new souls in his life more in detail, but he didn’t know if that would be a good idea if they were to perish anyway. Within, he knew there wasn’t any way he’d let that happen, but that was once what he had thought regarding China. They were all mere mortals, here. All that he should focus on was to keep them warm and safe in his arms. Siv would have the answers he lacked.

(405) I edited that line. Also, some PP here--poke me if you want it changed. <3 Also think you meant Siv instead of Draugr but I COULD BE WRONG. Tongue

The inside of her home was circular in design, surrounding a central fire-pit that was the only place of exposed earth within the place. A collection of hides, which had been stitched together and were not of top quality work, formed a floor that was further covered by other pieces of material. Leather, fur, it all served to form a clean and comfortable sort of carpeting above the ground. The entryway took most of the abuse from dirty feet, as no water leaked in elsewhere. It was a simplistic but well-planned design and served her needs.

Circling the fire were logs for sitting, though Itachi settled closer to the flame and on the floor. Siv was fussing with things behind him, and hurried to fill a metal pot with water from a sack made from the belly of an animal. This she carefully positioned near the edge of the fire, where coals served to heat it. Once done, she positioned herself at his side. Though a large woman, her motions were graceful despite the obvious bulge in her own stomach. There would not be many children, she thought, and was content with that for the time—it seemed fate would grant her two more to assist.

Gingerly, she motioned for the children. There were two of them, and while warm, they needed more than that to live. Already she feared that their tiny bodies might be suffering from exposure, and carefully, she positioned her arms to hold them both. It took some guidance but the instinct and will to survive was one of all wild things. They latched on to her exposed breasts (Siv was nude, but nudity was natural for them) and began to suckle. A breath she hadn’t realized she was holding escaped in a huge sigh.

Though relieved, her eyes were still large and shadowed as they turned to Itachi. He was perhaps a year or so younger than her, but she had come to consider his mate (for she thought of them as this) as another daughter. China had never fully recovered from her ordeals in the world, least of all the miscarriage, and the gods had seen fit to take her back. Perhaps now, Siv reflected, she would have peace. She did not promise him anything, believing it bad luck to speak things aloud before they came to pass, and did not ask what she feared. Her face said enough.

Lal, meant Siv! XD PP is good

The fire let bright light dance against his still hues, merry and lively against solemn lines. He knew his tragedy was lost in the continuous movement of the rest of the world. He found it unbelievably odd that everything remained exactly the same, when such a vivid and glorious light had gone out. Two lesser remained, and they were the blood of her blood. It made them beautiful and perfect.

Scarlet observed her for a moment, his hands unmoving, when she first gesticulated for the children. Although she aimed to help, it took a slight delay for him to willingly give up the last two entities that were what was left of his love. Sunset hues fell down on the prominent swell of Siv’s belly, and only now discovered that she was expecting. There was relief, yet also a fresh flourish of agony hidden within his stoic shell. The dark woman wasn’t the mother of these children – how dared she even considering taking China’s place.

Naturally, he immediately recognized the foolishness of such thoughts. Siv’s intention was to help, and he knew she wouldn’t take them from him. The new-borns were given over to the woman, and she seemed to know exactly what to do. As did they. Gilded ears swivelled back toward golden locks – the absence of their small bodies against his chest was strange and unwanted. Without asking for permission, he shuffled closer; strangely eager to observe the progress and learn more about these two little things that already held such importance in his life.

The little male seemed to carry China’s colours most of the two, yet there was also silver to see amongst the gold of the female. Although it brought extra string to his fresh wounds, it was also elevating to see how they already resembled their mother. Dark gray claws atop pale fingers continuously clicked against each other, somewhat nervously, exposing a breath of his hidden anxiety.

There were some things more terrible than the loss of a mother. Siv’s hands, a shade of night darker than the storm-cloud color of her pelt, hid the blood but she knew it was there. She had done what needed done to ensure that one of the children would live. To not speak of the boy made him unreal. In the feral and ancient ways of old things she had consumed his essence and forgotten. No one would ever know. Siv Helsi was a woman who kept her secrets, and secrets she had many. They reflected in scarlet pinpricks in otherwise purple eyes, which glowed maroon in the firelight. Ancient things live within her indeed.

Her milk would provide for them as it would her own children, and Siv knew she would need to begin taking herbs as soon as possible. This winter would be difficult…but she had Gale now, didn’t she? And his daughter could assist with the babies. Their value tripled in her mind and she was now deeply glad she had decided to keep him.

Deep heat radiated from her body, aided by the fire. She was further glad for Itachi’s warmth, though not for herself. She made no motion to urge him away, no sign that his close quarters violated any pretense of rank. These were his children. She would have done no less.

Yet she was a woman who was raised and live by a code of brutality that had carried her over thousands of miles. Mercy was tempered by reason, not emotion. “She died as a warrior,” Siv said quietly. Her voice rang truthful, for in her heart she believed there was no battle greater than that of birth.

Ears buzzed with white noise only he could hear, and he wondered when the realization would hit him with its full impact. Everything seemed tranquil and calm, but it shouldn’t be – it couldn’t be. His life was turned upside down and he was left all alone after all that time being the lesser half of a whole. He wished to stay close to the children, but he couldn’t do anything for them at this time. He knew he would be the one to take care of them and raise them. Even if Siv was to play a large part in their lives, the children was his responsibility. A responsibility that he would have to take, even if he hadn’t wished for their existence. If you couldn’t fix it, you had to endure. Now they were all he had, and he was grateful.

But right now, he was supposed to be somewhere else. Even in death, his loved one called out for him. China’s body remained alone in the little home they had built together. The hurricane had damaged their renovated haven, but everything could be repaired. Pale lids hooded scarlet hues at the witch’s words broke through the roar of blood rushing in his ears. She didn’t even have to ask about China to realize the truth. She already knew. The male was grateful, for he did not want to explain and relive the scene more than he had to, which would be every night from this day. He would be truly haunted now. ”Thank you, Siv,” soft tones rose with his monotone gratitude. It required some willpower for him to rip his eyes away from his new-borns, but he couldn’t stay. He had to cleanse his unannounced mate’s body and move her somewhere safe until a proper ceremony could be held.

He stood up and paced over to the doorway, glancing at the pregnant woman holding his precious new loves. ”I’m going back. I will return to you soon.” This task would bathe him with agony, but there was no way around it. And he didn’t want anyone else to touch her. Without casting a second glance, he exited the witch’s home with flattened ears. Unfortunately, he could not shut out the hushed voice, whispering the truth. You did this. Itachi knew that Haku was right this time. This was his fault.
