Everybody's looking for something

Reykr was a happy man. He was with his love, in a new place, but still, he was with her, and that's all that mattered. It'd been about a week since he had joined her, and he had been working hard for the pack. He made sure that there was some sort of kill for them in the morning, and again he would go out in the afternoon to hunt for dinner. He was used to doing this for some time now, for he had been doing this even back in the hearg. He was a Hundr, through and through, and even though he lost his Hearg, he did not lose his spirit of hunting. He was a wolf, and wolves hunted. He was one of those who hunted more so than the others. Today was no different than other days. He spent most of the day out and about, but by the time the sun was about to come down, he was ready to go home.

He dragged a deer behind him, while he was mounted upon his faithful steed. Val was not worried that he would end up like the one he dragged along the ground, for he had the Valknut tattooed on his thigh, which made him off limits to other wolves, and Val had full faith in Reykr to not eat him. If Rey was going to eat him, wouldn't he already have killed him? Exactly. Reykr patted Val on the neck as they rode through the small village and towards the home of Lessa and himself. Why he had not taken his own house was because well.....Reykr was going to propose to Lessa, and hopefully she would become his mate. Him moving into another house would just be a waste of time if she accepted, and if she declined, then maybe he would move out. Who knows?

Val's pace slowed as they came to the door of the house and Reykr quickly dismounted and then went to untie the dead deer from Val. The weight was a relief as he was released, and Val quickly moved towards the side of the house to graze once Rey had gotten it off of him. Reykr dragged the doe towards the door and then he opened it and glanced inside. Lessa, my love, I'm home, and I've brought us dinner. Can Max help me, please? asked the male to the woman, knowing that Max would listen to her over listening to him. He didn't really know why Max still hung around if he was freed (Lessa had told him about Max being a slave) but he was not one to judge, so he just accepted that Max was around. He actually liked the male's presence, because it meant that when he was not around, Lessa would have someone to talk to, and someone to protect her if she needed it. Reykr held a bright smile on his face as he peeked into the house. He wondered if they were even home, Lessa and Max, because he did not see Vahalla lingering outside, but the warhorse was a sneaky bastard at times, so he could have just been wandering somewhere around the hut.

Are you home, Lessa? He asked into the doorway, to see if she was there. If she wasn't, then he could handle getting the deer into the house. He already was pulling it through the door.

When nobody was around, Alessandra danced.

She swayed this way and that, twirling her one good silk shawl to accentuate her movements. The coyote woman danced to a silent tune, one that she imagined. Sometimes a hum would reverberate in her lungs and she would try and bring her song to fruition, but it seemed now was not time. Her large, dish shaped ears caught the grunting and scraping of someone at the door and the pungent scent of blood pierced the air. Less twirled around once more, and then swiftly walked over to a peg hammered into the wall and hung her precious shawl off of it before going to open the door. The sight of Reykr trying to drag a freshly killed deer into the house set fire to the blood on her veins and she snapped a rather coyote-ish yap in his face before standing inbetween him and the doorway.

“ There is no way you are bringing another bloody mess into our house! “ She said heatedly, the skin under her cheek fur flushing red. “ Max! “ The woman called out, her tail flicking back and forth behind her like an angry cat. The white wolf seemingly appeared out of nowhere, looking from Reykr to Lessa and then back to Reykr. Once he gauged the situation he laughed a deep, booming laugh and winked at Reykr. “ Yes, Alessandra? “ He replied in an almost too pleasant voice, enjoying the anger Less directed at Rekyr. “ Please help Reykr hang up the deer from a tree limb. I will not have anymore blood staining my clean floors. “ With a final huff she turned her back on her love and shut the door defiantly as she returned inside to ready the house for the coming night.

Max snickered at the retreating back of his childhood friend and then grinned at her love. “ Guess she doesn’t much like cleaning up after dinner. “ He picked up the other end of the deer and motioned with his large head over to a tree in their front yard. It had been outfitted with a cleaning station of sorts, sharp knives were placed in glass jars at the base of the tree and there was a thick length of rope hanging from a sturdy tree limb. “ We can tie it’s feet up there and hang it, if you like. Don’t think we have much of a choice. “ He said in a deep voice, punctuated by another grin.

Word Count → 745 :: I hope you don't mind me taking control of Max for a moment. It was just to help him hang the doe.

Ever want to be free? Do you remember?
Want to be god, the devil, like me?

He wasn't expecting what he was welcomed home with. Fear actually ran through him for a slight moment, and his sweetcorn eyes grew wide as the woman snarled at him about not bringing the meal into the house. She called it a "bloody mess" and that he was not going to bring it inside. It was easier for him to work inside, and he was so tired of being outside today, he just wanted to relax. Apparently that was not on the agenda though, for he had to now gut and deal with their dinner so that he could cook it and feed the family. He huffed lightly at the woman and stopped trying to bring in the deer. He waited for Max to come and help him at Lessa's request. She retreated and his ears fell back on his head and he snorted lightly. He did not speak though, for he knew she was right, there was most certainly a mess everytime he gutted a deer or any of his kills really. He normally helped with the clean up though, minus once or twice since he was as tired as a dog by the time he was done.

He noticed that there was a cleaning station in their front yard though, a tree that already had a noose hanging from it, as well as knives in jars at the bottom. There was even a seat for him to sit in if he chose to be seated as he cleaned out the carcass. Max snickered at him and commented about the mess and Lessa not wanting to clean it up. She has a point though, it does get the house messy, as well as, you know, our bloody footprints getting everywhere. the male spoke, shrugging his shoulders as he carried the doe with Max over to the cleaning station, where he suggested that they hang it by it's feet. I just need the hind feet to be hung, not the fronts. Reykr told the male as his sweet corn eyes traveled to the white male. Reykr pulled the noose down a little bit, and he lifted the back legs up and then he tightened the noose around the legs of the doe, and then he let it drop to the ground. He looked to Max and then to the rope that would make the doe hang in the air if pulled and tied down. Mind getting that for me? I need to prepare the knives. he asked the male and told him that he needed to get the knives ready.

Reykr moved to the jar of knives and he looked at each of them. A few of them were too dull to use, and the others were not his style. There was a sharp skinning knife, but Reykr was not so concerned with skinning the deer right now as much as he was concerned about getting the meat off of it. He realized that he had his own hunting knife on his side, and he bopped his forehead lightly. Duh, Rey. he spoke to himself as he pulled his hunting knife from its sheath and he waited for Max to pull up the doe. Once the male did that and tied it to where it would stay, Reykr touched it to make it stop moving and then he quickly stabbed the stomach and sliced the flesh down towards the neck. Immediately the organs fell to the ground, and blood trinkled down the beast, as well as blood getting on Reykr's arms and hands. Some also got on his face.

He continued to gut the animal until he got a few good chunks of meat off of it. Once he did that, he took the meat chunks and he brought some of the organs that they would eat and he left the rest outside, hanging out there. He'd figure out what to do with it later. He walked into the house with the bloodied dinner in his hands, and he looked at Lessa. He was covered in blood, though he made sure not to have any on his feet so he would not track it into the house. Happy now? Am I cooking, or are you? he asked his love as he looked at her and sighed lightly. He was a tired Rey, and he wanted to relax, but he could feel that his relax time was not coming just yet.

Guiltily she surveyed their home, not pleased with her harshness to Reykr. Her thick tail swished behind her much like an annoyed cat, and she snorted before moving to the cooking space that was being built around the fireplace. Their home was still largely empty, and therefore still under construction. Approaching the dead fireplace she grabbed some kindling and began positioning the small piece of wood in a raised position, thrusting some dried grass underneath until she was satisfied. Then she swished towards a covered torch and carefully removed the flame, bending down at the waiting wood and setting it alight. After returning the torch to it’s covering she began adding bigger pieces of wood under the fire was blazing and an even temperature of heat emanated from it.

Satisfied with the blaze, she moved over to a selection of glass jars that were scattered on the floor and began choosing spices to accompany their meal. Reykr had been working hard to provide for her since arriving to the pack and she wanted to make this meal special. An ear flicked behind her as she heard the heavy wooden door open and she carefully set the fragile jars beside the fire before turning towards Reykr and swiftly walking over to him. Without a word she leaned up to his large frame and set an affectionate lick on the side of his muzzle. “ I’ll cook tonight love. “ Alessandra replied lightly before taking the chunks of meat from him and walking to the fire. On their travels as a loner she had come across many interesting artifacts, and she had found metal sticks. They were perfect for roasting meat, and would do well for tonight. The skeleton-esque woman busied herself with sprinkling spices and salts on the meat before spearing it through and setting it to cook on the side of the fire.

The coal-hued cowolf seated herself by the fire, sitting atop of a deer skin. There were several skins piled around the warmth and she leaned over and rested on her side, glancing back to see if Reykr was coming to the fire. The firelight flickered off her coat, creating shimmering highlights in her white hair. It reflected in her crystal blue eyes as she looked at the man that she loved and something stirred within her.

Those times in life we learn to try, with one intention
Of learning how and when we'll die, but we cant listen.

When he came in, he was greeted with a happier looking Alessandra, which was to his pleasure. She licked him, and he smiled at her as she took the meat and then walked away. He nodded his head. Oh yes! Some of your awesome cooking! I loooove you, Alessandra! the male spoke to her, obviously excited because he liked her cooking much more than his own. Sure, he knew a little bit about it, and he could cook meat to where it was yummy, but he wasn't a very talented cook. He thought that the spices that Lessa added were awesome, and it made her food delicious. He wasn't a spice man, he couldn't figure out what tastes to mix to where it was good. Lessa was much better at that than he. He appreciated it as well, hence why his tail wagged and his smile was plastered on his maw as he watched his love move towards the kitchen-esqe area and she started to fiddle with the meat.

Reykr found that this was a good moment to go freshen up a little bit. The wolfdog grabbed a rag he had hanging up on a branch, a makeshift rod that was placed in a corner. With this, he cleaned his hands, and then he went to a water bucket and he started to wash his hands off in it. This bucket was for this anyways, for he always filled this specific bucket for that purpose. The water clouded with blood as Reykr rubbed the blood from his arms and he also wet the rag and got the blood from his face. Once he was done with that, he looked back over to the whole reason he had left his home in Salsola. Reykr realized that there was other reasons, but he just knew that he had come across Lessa in Salsola for a reason, and he couldn't just let her go like that. He didn't want to let her go like that. If Siv thought he was dead, then so be it. He could care less about what Siv and Draugr though. Neither of them showed much interest in him, and therefore he made no emotional ties to them. Sure, he still had a part of him that cared, but he had to keep on stomping on it to get rid of it, and one day, he imagined that the feeling would be completely gone. He knew it would. Lately, he hadn't even thought of them though. He was too busy settling into his new home.

He just looked at her lounging on the floor by the fire, with the deer pelts under her. The fire made her pelt shimmer, and her eyes had an eerie, yet sexy glow to them as she looked back at him. He liked what he saw, and his own sweet corn eyes got a glare to them that was not all that innocent. Reykr had not bedded the woman yet, but the desire was there. He wagged his tail lightly, and he moved toward the woman, and he first got on his knees next to her and he leaned over and gave her a lick on her muzzle and he placed his hand on her stomach. He gave the woman a low growl, and another lick on her muzzle. I missed you all day. You should come with me next time, with Vahalla the male suggested as he proceeded to lay down next to her and he wrapped an arm around her and pulled her close. He snuggled her, pushing his face into her soft fur on her shoulders. He sighed contently at the woman as he snuggled her. Can I ask you something, Lessa? asked the male, even though he had asked her question just to ask her another one.

As the dark-pelted woman watched Reykr approach, a shiver rolled down her spine and her heart began thudding in her chest. Whenever she was intimate like this with him, it lit her blood on fire. He placed an affectionate lick on her muzzle and she returned a sweet brush of her own to his chin, raising it up in time to receive another peck. He spoke and she listened, completely entranced by the glow in his sweet corn hued eyes. “ Of course. “ She purred out, tracing a clawed finger down his chest as she looked back up at him. “ Valhalla would enjoy that. I believe Val and him will be close friends yet, I see the curious way my horse looks at your elk. If anything it will take a little time, it has only been me, him and max since as long as I can remember. “ The woman ended somewhat somberly, chuckling lightly after the fact as Reykr enveloped her in his embrace.

As he pushed himself into her silky neck fur, they let out content sighs at the very same moment. A sweet smile broke across her bleached face and she shut her eyes, imagining the rest of her life with this man from Salsola. He had Vinatta’s scent about him, the piney, salty scent that suited him so well. A scent that also clung to her own fur, and she breathed it in, savoring it, remembering this moment for a later time. It had been a new change since arriving here, there was no secrecy, no violence.. It was perfect. A perfect place to raise children, if they so chose to have them in the future. If anything, she was lucky. Out of all the characters she could have ended up with, she ended up with someone who suited her personality so well. They complimented each other, both different and exotic in their own way. The ebony coyote hummed in satisfaction, lifting her muzzle to affectionately nip at her lover's ear. Reykr then asked her a question, and she quietly contemplated.

“ Yes, “ She began playfully, “ You may ask me a question. “ A grin punctuated her words as she licked the side of his face lovingly, again.
