15.10.12 . 12 noon . vinatta shoreline . optime form

His discovery this morning had set excitement racing through his body. The overturned boat might be damaged, but the structure was strong and relatively new and it would be worth repairing. Vinátta was out of the way of most packs, aside from one, and it would be an extremely good way to breach the short gap of ocean between them and mainland Nova Scotia. They could, of course, have gone around the land like most, but any trip they wished to make would have taken at least a week- a boat would cut that down to a day, two at worst. That being said, his plans were getting ahead of him- the boat in question still lay face down in the sand, the mast snapped like a twig and damage to the hull that desperately needed to be repaired. He'd returned to Jordheim to find some willing and able volunteers and had found them.

They'd split up after he'd revealed his plan- Saul had moved towards the barns to gather some of the spare wood that had been stored there. Logically they'd need to spend a while repairing the boat and ensuring it was waterproof before attempting a trip to the other end of Nova Scotia. It had to start somewhere thought and that would be in turning the boat upright to assess the full extent on the damage. He'd gathered the rope from home (and in doing so had explained his plan to Lilin and Colibri) before moving back towards the shoreline.

They would be able, with combined strength and force, be able to pull the boat back around to face skywards once more. And if they turned it with planks of wood in the sand already, they'd be able to raise it up to get to the damage beneath. Arriving back first, Saul began to arrange things how he wished- laying two long planks of wood beside the boat and moving to tie off three lines of rope to the other side of the vessel, in preparation for help.

YAY! A BOAT! / 562. 5 pts.

Sauls new find of a boat on the coast was fascinating and Nier couldn't wait to get stuck in. When his leader had come dashing back into the village, calling for able bodied volunteers he had thrown himself at the opportunity, more than willing to help out. He couldn't let his rudimentary carpentry skills stagnate and the prospect of sailing was something that excited him beyond belief. He had run back to the house, dashing past a startled Grace and disappearing into the abode. He emerged at a more sedate pace, his satchel slung over his shoulder, his trusty mallet, his depleted stock of nails and oddly enough a quoll pup, nestled neatly in the bag. He couldn't quite be bothered to turf Cabbage out of the leather pouch, so allowed him to stay. Ciaran had followed him out of the house, curiosity evident on the felines face. Nier hopped over to his lovers side and gave her a hug, pulling her as close as her swollen belly would allow. He pressed his nose against hers and smiled. Saul found a boat on the shore. It's got holes in it and has been beat up by the waves, but he thinks we can repair it and we can use it to trade with other packs across the water. His cerulean eyes were filled with childish glee and Grace couldn't help but smile. "Be careful you great oaf. I know what you're like with that mallet. I want you back home with all of your fingers and toes." Her eyes shot down to Cabbage, "And keep him safe, I don't want him coming back more nail and wood than quoll." Nier grinned and kissed her soundly before sprinting off to the stables.

He wasn't aware that he must have crossed paths with Saul as he made his way to the stables, not knowing just where those that were helping out were heading, all he knew was that there was a load of wood left over from the hurricane at the stable. He scooped up an armful of wooden planks, throwing them over his shoulders so that he could carry them without braining the quoll pup in his satchel. A mewl at his feet alerted him to the fact that Ciaran had followed him, seemed his pal wanted to help out as best he could. He chuckled at the cat, I know you're big buddy, but you wouldn't be able to heft wood. The cat shrugged and followed at Niers heels as the wolf made his way back to the beach.

Saul and the boat became visible as he exited the treeline, he was utterly amazed by the vessel, already visualising it on the water and cutting through the waves. He jogged over to his cousin and placed his planks on the floor, shrugging his satchel off and putting it next to the planks. Cab wriggled out of the leather pouch and scrambled up Niers body to curl around his neck in Ciarans usual place. The cat was happy enough to concede his spot to the pup, having come to love the strange little creatures just as much as Nier and Grace had. Nier grinned at his cousin and moved over to stand next to him. Where do ya want me Saul? He asked, ready, willing and able to get stuck in to the physical labour.

OOC: It's been a quick minute since i've used this table. / +677

There was a knock at his door. He'd been resting the last few days since he had rode pretty hard to get back to Vinatta. He arrived with the others, if only because he was busy with his luggage that he had to bring back. He brought back an assortment of things, and he had gotten rid of all of his weapons that were finely crafted and unused by him. That meant that he had only one bow as apposed to three, and many of his swords were gone now. He traded for some shiny things (for Alessandra) and he ended up bringing home a mare. The mare was still green, and she barely liked Reykr (she had already bitten him and kicked him a few times) and she was just a stuck up bitch, but she was pretty, and she was worth training. Reykr knew about horses and their training (which was why Val was so well trained) so he had been working with her on the way back, but she still, by no means was accepting of him riding her. This was fine for him now, since he had Valknut to ride as well. The only real reason he got the mare was so that they could breed her with Valhalla.

The knock was answered by Lessa, who came to him and told him that Saul was at the door, and that he needed help with what was it? A boat? Something like that. Reykr slowly got up and yawned. He kissed his love and then put his black bear cloak and his fox loincloth and he met up with Saul and another male by the name of Niernan outside of his house. Reykr tossed a gaze at the tied grullo colored mare before he whistled to Valknut. The Elk was closeby, so he came trotting up, and Reykr grabbed a few planks of wood, and a rope and he tied the planks to the flank of the elk (the planks would be dragged along the ground) and then he took two saddle bags and put them on the back of the Elk. He then placed a few hammers and nails in one of the bags and then two axes in the other. He thought about what else he might need before he left, but he couldn't think of anything, so he got on top of his steed and rode towards the shoreline, where Saul told him that he should meet them.

The ride was calm, and at a steady pace. He was in no rush to get to his destination. He still wanted to sleep, but it had been later in the day and it made sense for him to go ahead and wake up by doing some sort of work. Sooner or later he got there, and he saw the two waiting by the overturned boat with a few holes in the hull. He clicked at Val to hurry his gait and the elk did, only for a few moments before he stopped though. Valknut didn't like to approach strangers, and even though he had seen Saul before, there was little trust in the male. Valknut stopped a few paces before them, and Reykr dismounted and brought out tools. He approached the two with an axe and a hammer for both of them. He had one hammer for himself, and he figured that they could just share the axes.

Where to start, oh where to start? asked the male in a sing-song voice as he looked at the damaged hull. The male scratched his chin and he chuckled lightly. Virding, you are right, we should be able to fix this. We have to get rid of this whole side of the hull though, since this hole here is pretty big. spoke the Risna, having only little experience with boats, but much more experience with wood. He was sure that he would be able to help fix this. Hopefully the other two knew something about wood working, or about boats.

Reykr was a new addition to Vinátta, but Saul felt as though he fit in well. Aside from following the religion that was becoming a larger part of the pack, Saul understood him to be a hard worker and that was what they needed. While they weren't setting forth at a pace that would exhaust their members to get the Sveit Village done, they'd managed to get the village hall up relatively quickly and that was what had mattered. He hoped that they might be able to follow the same philosophy with the boat. He was certain they'd be able to fix it, even if they had to remove quite a bit of the damaged hull to do so. Unlike some other wooden structures, patching it up wasn't an option. They needed it to be water-proof and for that, the hull would have to be made of lengths of wood that were solid, instead of patched-up holes.

He was lost in thought when the sound of his cousin approaching caused him to look up. Accompanied by Ciaran and an odd looking animal around the males throat, he snorted softly. He seemed to have brought half of the menagerie with him and he wondered if Grace had asked the male to take a few off her hands for the afternoon. Saul didn't mind- as long as they stayed out of the way and didn't caused problems. His cousins question caused Saul to chuck one of the ropes towards the male. I was thinking we'd turn it the right way up, to assess all of the damage first. He offered, before the sound of approaching hooves caused him to look up. He was still puzzled at the male's choice of steed, but he supposed it was his prerogative.

His sing-song voice caused a chuckle from the Virding and he found his tail flickering back and forth. He found he enjoyed the males company and was glad he'd thought of him when he'd come back to Jordheim for help. He remained silent as Reykr inspected the damage, before giving his view, confirming Saul's own thoughts. He nodded in confirmation, before gesturing towards the final rope. We should be able to haul it over so its right-side-up. He said, a chuckle evident on his tone as he looked from the boat back to the assembled workforce.

Heave ho, it's off to work we go XD / 534. 5 pts.

He nearly fumbled the rope that was thrown his way by Saul, his attention had been fixed on his cousin until the sound of hoofbeats reached his ears and he had begun to turn as the rope was thrown. He managed to grab it at the last minute, shooting his cousin a look, one eyebrow slightly raised, almost asking if the grey male had done that on purpose. He knew Saul wouldn't have done so, it was probably just bad timing. Shrugging it off he grasped the rope in his calloused handpaws, the fibres rough against the hardened pads. Ciaran had neatly skipped out of the way of potential danger, judging the rope to be one such danger. He didn't like the way it had coiled through the air, as if it were alive. The dark tabby settled at safe distance, his fluffy hindquarters firmly planted on the sand of the shore, his tail lightly flicking, stirring the sand as it moved. Nier raised his eyebrow at the cat too, knowing that he'd have to help groom the sand out of the inordinately long fur later.

He became distracted though, as the new male hove into view, his strange mount causing nier's eyes to widen. He had never seen a beast so majestic as the elk. He wanted to drop the rope and go over to talk to the animal, but he noticed the elks body language, that pf a nervous or uncomfortable being. He would stay away from the animal, observing and admiring from a distance so as not to spook the creature. He took one paw from the rope and offered it to the approaching male, noticing the earthy brown fur and the pale yellow eyes. He smiled at the male, natural charm and amiability oozing from him. I'm Niernan Stormbringer, pleasure to meet you friend. He said, his Irish accent jovial, genuine happiness to meet the new male inflected in the words. The quoll pup curled around his neck propped himself up with his front paws and strained to sniff at the new male, intrigued by the new scent that the wolf brought. Nier's tongue flicked out, lightning fast, to lick at the quoll's face, Don't be rude Cab. He said.

After greeting the newcomer he settled back into work, listening to the other males words with interest. This boat would be a nicely big project, if they had to take off one entire side of the hull, he assumed that the hull was the bottom of the boat. They would need long planks to to make the boat seaworthy again. He spared a glance over at the wood they had all brought, thinking about whether the planks were long enough. If not they could fashion new planks from the fallen trees that the hurricane winds had felled. He pushed the thoughts of the wood to the back of his mind, looking to his cousin for direction on how they were going to flip this boat, giving the rope a few experimental tugs, feeling the husk move slightly under his strength. Are we ready then? He asked, a smile on his lips and a laugh in his voice, excited for the work ahead.
