Oak is clearing trails after the storm ^^

The hurricane had brought changes to the pack. Most were physical things, flooded homes and fallen buildings. The pack had been blessed with pups just before the onslaught of rain and wind, and he was glad to hear from his mother that none had been lost in the storm. During the storm he had helped to board up the stables, and after the male had retreated to his den, to eat and dry off before emerging once again to help with anything that needed extra protection. And though the storm had been over for some time, there was still many things that needed to be reconstructed and repaired.

Oak found that his axe would be put to good use, the fallen branches and limbs were plentiful and some too heavy to be lifted away without first breaking them down. Nothing would go to waste; the pieces would be carted to the pack’s center and given to his pack mates for firewood. It also served to busy his thoughts, when the memory of his departed friend crept back into his mind.

Thick arms brought the arm head down, a hefty swing that lodge the blade deeply into the massive branch. The angle sent a thick chip of wood flying into the air, and with a large inhale Oak steadied himself for yet another swing of the large single bladed axe. Cassia; the name came to him as he hit the log once again, had left weeks (even perhaps months) ago. She had given little warning before picking up and disappearing from the home that they had found together. It hurt... He hit the thick branch again, this time finally breaking it into two. And he still had no word from her, the scent washed away completely by the hurricane’s rain.

It had settled in, but the male hadn’t fully processed the loss of his friend and the feeling of abandonment. He wasn’t sure how to even do that, to allow himself to fully move of. Clearing the path of the fallen tree helped, emotions flowing though his arms and into the dead tree. Without pausing his tossed the axe to the side and grasped hold of one part and began to slowly drag it off the path.

Weird, bad post I was trying to write very quickly. :O But I wanted to meet Oak! <33 +453

Shiloh was exhausted. She slept in very late the morning after returning to the pack lands, and she woke yet-groggy and guilty as well. She didn’t remember where the impromptu idea for the trip had even come from, but in hindsight she saw that it’d taken her away from her pack as they launched into projects to clean up the lands after the hurricane. She didn’t want the others to think that she was too stuck-up to lend a hand, and that the whole business of the trading trip was an elaborate excuse not to be around, but she kept these worries private and tried to look at it from a different angle. She’d plenty of gifts for her pack mates, and there were a few new horses in the stables, too; some that might have training to pull larger branches from where they’d fallen about the territory.

She comforted herself with these thoughts, snuggled in her blankets, the tortoiseshell cat curled in a ball against her shoulder. She opened her eyes again and reached out to pet the feline’s dark mottled fur before looking at the sunlight streaming in through the windows. There was no putting it off any longer; she had to get up if she was going to be useful to Vinátta and make her rounds with the gifts.

A walk would do her some good, first, and maybe she could visit her gelding at the stables. She smiled at the thought and donned her woolen dress, the warmer in this chilly autumn weather, before opening the door. Muddy scampered out before her, tail high and bright yellow eyes already searching for smaller creatures to pounce on. Shiloh shut her door gently and looked at the lovely versicolor crown of leaves of the tree closest to her home. It was a pity that they’d lose their vibrant mantles soon, though many had already been stripped bare and knocked down with the storm.

The white she-wolf walked at a leisurely pace along the trails, letting her mind grow blank as she enjoyed the scenery and pushed aside her worries. Over the sounds of the winter birds and the wind, though, was the dull thunk of an axe hitting a tree. Milk ears stirred in honey hair, and she quickened her pace slightly, curious to know where the sound was coming from.

She got her answer soon enough. A rich redwood-colored Luperci was pulling at a dead tree, his axe on the ground nearby. A sudden smile flickered across her features, and she wordlessly stepped forward, getting a hold on a branch stub and lending her strength to push the tree off the path, playfully silent and refusing to meet his eyes.

[html]your post was great ^^

The work was slow, the limb was a heavy one from the species of tree he had been named after. The large oak had out lived generations and generations of luperci, and he could not blame it for giving away one of his large heavy arms. It was the sort of tree that was well suited for tree-climbing, and lazing in the round generous boughs.

A heave, and a puff caused the branch to move a bit quicker. The weight of was a serious workout for the wolf. it But then it seemed to be just a bit lighter as he pulled once again. Tore bay eyes looked up, and saw the pale figure of a female, her long buttery mane waving around her shoulders. She was not dressed to be working with such effort and in such conditions, a thought that was prior to any other.

Oak straightened his back, standing at full height and brushed his hands off on his thighs. The branch was not yet fully off the path, but the pair had move it a considerable length. Hello there Oak greeted, more interested in exchanging a few words before he continued his work. She didn’t need to extend herself, if she did not truly wish to. By the looks of her, and mainly her clothing, Oak was not sure if she was truly up to the task. But he knew better then to assume that aloud, that had gotten him in trouble before.

<333 Shiloh is being a dork.

Shiloh doubted that her strength would do much in hauling the large branch, but despite her slender figure she was far from waifish; she did regularly swing a giant staff around, at any rate. From her reckoning, the reddish-brown male did a lot more than that. Her blue eyes trailed along his sturdy muscles for as long as she was confident his darker blues weren’t focused on her, at which point she smiled and continued to pretend there wasn’t anything in the world besides the hefty branch they were shoving away from the village pathway.

The she-wolf’s arms were beginning to complain from the unusual exertion when the man straightened, and Shiloh took the cue to do so herself, brushing her hair out of her face and rubbing at a sore arm. She did flash him a brighter grin, nodding. “Hi,” she replied with teasing brevity, but decided that was enough playing and managed to bow her head in gracious greeting.

“My name’s Shiloh,” the woman said at last. “I’m Saul’s sister.” She wasn’t sure what else to add after the introduction, deciding that the fact they hadn’t bumped into each other officially before didn’t need to be stated.
