Umbra was gone. The male had left without even saying good bye, although Adelaida wasn’t sure that she should have expected it. They had only met a handful of times, so the attachment the masked female felt for the male was unfounded, but all the same he had been a friend, and one that she had planned on sticking with through thick and thin. If only he hadn’t disappeared. Adelaida only noticed his absence because she had sought him out. Alexey wasn’t speaking to her, and while the chinchilla Pickles had chosen Adelaida over her sister the rodent didn’t provide the canine companionship Adelaida craved. Umbra should have been there to fill that gap, but he was no where. Nor was his scent, or any other signs he had been around. And if he was anywhere, it would have been here.

Chocolate colored paws padded along the lakeshore, sometimes stepping on wet sand and sometimes wandering off into the water. Her feet were soaked but it did not matter, the sky was colored gray and droplets of rain pelted the earth with what Adelaida imagined to be a fury of the heavens. Perhaps mother nature could sense the disappointment and hurt that Adelaida felt, or so the two year old would like to believe. With Pickles safely asleep in their dry den, Adelaida was more alone than ever, and it was comforting to think that something, anything, empathized with her. So it rained, and it rained hard, and Adelaida did not mind at all, because it rained for her. The two toned fur stuck to her body, she looked as pathetic as she felt, which was fine, as Adelaida didn’t imagine there was anyone to watch her suffering, and even if they saw her, they wouldn’t know just how miserable she felt at this moment. So miserable in fact, it was hard to imagine life could be any worse.

_____Spiders were the least of her worries, although they were quite an unpleasant thing to deal with when the only thing she wanted to do was get to Esper Hollow to nitpick over the folks there. Corona had been hoping to catch sight of one of their supposed two leaders but short of howling for attention, she hadn't seen hide nor hair of them. But now that it was raining, she figured if she made good time down to the thick forests of Ethereal Eclipse she would find them. If not, she was content with spending part of the day hovering over their sick, even if her father didn't always see her as her and spoke of things she didn't understand.

_____Heading further to the south than she normally went, Corona had intentions to visit the city before she made her way to the gypsy band's camp site. She had told Ahren she would at least bring something to make his rest in such an abysmal shed a little better. She travelled light, only her small pouch of various supplies was the only thing on her. The nice thing about travelling in the rain meant that there weren't going to a whole lot of folks out. Unless of course, she counted the wolf she who was coming along the shore of the lake towards.

_____Regarding her briefly, Corona didn't pick up on anything that would have pointed her out to be someone from Dahlia de Mai, although the rain didn't make anything easy. So as far as she was concerned for the moment, she was a neutral party and worthy of getting a thin smile in passing.

     Crapcrapcrap post.

i heard they say the boy's missing

He had nothing better to do. That was his excuse, and that was why he was there. Watching for a bit, waiting, then finally moving. Moving, moving, forward, forward toward... what? Nothing? Perhaps. Toward excitement or disinterest, to the two figures off in the distance, neither of which seemed to be doing much anyways.

"Who's this pretty kitty, Corona?" Hybrid sauntered over to where the two canines were standing, doing nothing, saying nothing. He grinned, a wicked, lustful indication of his amusement. The other creature was still a short distance away, and did not seem to be doing anything much aside from walking. Walking, walking, walking-- how boring.

His grin widened. She should be punished. Such frivolous activities (walking!) should not go overlooked. Not on a rainy day like this, not when Hybrid had nothing better to do. Not when his fur was soaked all the way through and the rain was coming down hard enough to bother him. Most of the time he did not mind the rain-- it committed no crime against him, and he had nothing against Poseidon, Neptune, or any other god of the water. He smirked. But perhaps he would wage war amidst the water and the rain-- in the name of nothing, to fight for nothing.

mall-caps;color:#660000;">there's no one here to tuck me in, so the shotgun will instead

The spiders would all be sleeping. Rain was falling from the sky, sending rivulets of water down everything into the already soaked earth. They would hide in their little holes, under things, in things to keep themselves from drowning. He found one nestled on the underside of a leaf, recoiling into it's body as he prodded it, wrapping it's eight legs around it's middle-section for protection. Carefully, he scrapped it from it's leafy rest, nestling it in the palm of his hand. It scurried across his hand, running over the back and up his arm. He grabbed it in the cage of his fingers again, walking with his new found friend.
The rain hide everything, veiling scents and distorting the landscape. Sounds were drown out in the constant dripping, echoing through the trees and bombarding his senses. He could see something ahead. Three figures along the lakeside: a wolf, Corona, and Hybrid. The spider was quickly forgotten, dropped into a puddle as he moved closer, standing beside a tree to watch. He leaned against the trunk, gaining shelter from the branches as rain fell around them.
        This could prove momentarily entertaining.

Are all three of the coyotes shifted or no? Anyway... I have a thread going on that takes place after this and I already decided what injuries Ade should have... so can someone please give her the following: injured right leg, a few wounds on her left side, a gash on her chest (maybe this is where they transfer blood to turn her into a luperci?), and lots of bruises all over. So not too many, this will be more mental torture than anything, but they should beat her up a little and rough handle her so she’s more bruised than bleeding. Any hoo... time to catch the scaredy cat. Perhaps Hybrid is in secui form to catch her since he’d be fast in that form, or Samael intercepts her? I didn’t mention that Adelaida sees him in case you want to have her run past him and grab her?

For a long while Adelaida walked along the lakeshore with her eyes closed. This served two purposes. One, rain did not get in her eyes, which was annoying, and two, it took her out of this world. In the darkness that surrounded her after closing her eyes she could pretend she was anywhere else. She did not have to think about Alexey, Umbra, Pickles or anyone else. Adelaida didn’t have to think at all. Which, looking back later Adelaida would know, was a bad thing. Once she opened her eyes she was quite startled to see not just one, but two coyotes. And worse yet, shifted ones. The female stopped dead in her tracks at the sight and instantaneously it felt as if her inside turned to liquid. For a moment she stood there, staring at them. Part of her was terror stricken and part of her was dumb founded. Adelaida had no idea that coyotes could shift as the wolf luperci could. It had been one of her worst fears, but somehow she had convinced herself it simply wasn’t true. Coyotes and wolves were not the same, so she had not assumed that coyotes too could possess that horrible ability. The terror was evident on her face, she couldn’t conceal, nor did she think to. All she thought of was that she had to get away, and fast. Turning abruptly Adelaida broke into a sprint, hoping that the coyotes, by some miracle they hadn’t seen her.

Corona is in Optime and I could probably direct her to go for the chest when we get the action rolling, if that's cool with the lot of you? I'll leave this open ended so either Hybrid or Samael can make their move. Smile

_____Corona didn't stop her walking until she realised someone was coming up behind her quicker than her pace; much to her surprise it was Hybrid. She shrugged, words not coming to her as she noticed that the wolf who was walking… was walking with her eyes shut. It seemed like a silly thing to do, which seemed to be the donning expression that the seal brown wolf grasped when she came back to reality and opened her eyes. They were a different shade that Corona was used to seeing (since everyone around seemed to either be gold, green, or red-eyed), but as fast as she had gotten a glimpse of the turquoise eyes, they were gone. Whoever the wolf was, they were running away and running away from the wrong coyote…

Sounds good to me! Hybrid is in his Secui form. This will potentially be the injury Adelaida receives on her leg. Sorry for the wait.

i heard they say the boy's missing

Corona said nothing. Perhaps the female did not think she needed to, or that Hybrid was worthy of her words. Both were certainly possible-- Corona had said some rather strange things, rather stupid, foolish things, the last time he had seen her. He wouldn't be surprised if she was just plain stupid, or a little crazy. The chances of both being true were highly probable.

He grinned, shaking his head cheerfully. It didn't matter anyways, for he would just amuse himself with the little kitten wandering every which way. Hybrid trotted closer to the creature, moving slowly through the sand, taking time to place each step with exact precision. He felt his shoulders roll and move as he descended down the gentle sloping beach, moving closer to the water's edge. He felt his claws dig into the sand for a split second, then kick up the sand, leaving little holes where he had walked. He felt everything, and he felt alive.

And then it was ruined. The wolf opened her eyes, only then noticing that she was no longer alone. And then she was gone, running, in the opposite direction to him. Hybrid snarled, and took off after her. In that split second, the moment she had decided to run, Hybrid had suddenly become very, very angry with her. Stupid wolf.
He snarled, and took off after her, through the rain and the sand. He increased his speed, barrelling down the water's edge after her, faster, faster (harder, harder) until he was close enough to dive at her, snapping at her feet and shoulder.

mall-caps;color:#880000;font-family:verdana;font-size:10px;">seven for a secret, never to be told

And something interesting did indeed take place only moments after he entered onto the scene. The she-wolf, who'd been walking with her eyes squeeze tight, suddenly opened them, seeing the two coyotes standing before her. She burst into action, bolting away from them toward where Samael was standing. Hybrid sprung into motion as well, running after the she-beast and snapping his fangs close to her body. He grinned a tiny grin that stunk of bloodlust and madness, watching, waiting as the dirt-colored female approached. Just when she'd moved into position, Samael burst from his cover, slamming down onto all fours to charge toward the wolfess, snapping his jaws toward her left flank. Together, they'd all tear her apart like a deer before the hunt.

Suddenly there were two of them upon her. Adelaida wasn’t quite sure how it had happened, she knew that one of the two she had spotted, the half shifted freak, was after her and although he was gaining she had been ahead of him. Without warning another appeared in her path, so suddenly that she didn’t know which coyote was on her first, but now there were two of them, and Adelaida lost her footing and went under. Rolling onto her back, Adelaida thrashed her legs out helplessly, and utter a yelp of shock as she felt fangs sinking into her right hind leg. Frantically she kicked out at them, felt her hind legs hitting flesh although knowing that she probably was not anything but an annoyance to them. Get away... get away... Her voice was terrified, her mind spun. The coyotes were touching her, harming her. They were vermin and while she was afraid for her life, she was also revolted by their mere proximity to her own body. They were nasty coyotes but they were also filthy shifters!.

_____Corona didn't take chase after her for a moment, simply watching the way that Hybrid (and then Samael) worked. The way the situation evolved quickly told her enough about how quickly they adapted and Corona could see why her brother placed stock into them. But she started in after them once they had gotten the wolf down on the ground. She couldn't have called them off if she had wanted to, but the growing realisation in the back of her mind was that she didn't want to call them off. She wanted to observe just how all of it worked, though as she slowly hovered over the ensuing chaos, something the wolf said sent a spark of anger along her spine.

_____Corona had never met anyone who preferred not to shift just as she had never met anyone who couldn't shift either. It was the newest and best way to survive and it was the reason why they had flourished so in her mind, so to find it filthy made no sense. “Filthy, are we,” she murmured to herself, remembering the point and the reason why she felt the anger towards that word. This wolf may as well have been the filthy one, being the colour of the ground. So when the moment opened up, she drew a leg back and promptly kicked the foolish woman in the side. Even if it didn't do jack shit, it would knock the wind and voice from her.

_____Her verbal contributions weren't needed any longer.

     This post is kinda fail.

i heard they say the boy's missing

Filth, dirt, trash, vermin; Hybrid knew these words, but they certainly did not apply to him, Samael or Corona. He had never heard anyone call a shifter filthy, however, so the rage he felt was an entirely new kind. Hybrid laughed, unable to stop himself; this was too funny. Only a wolf would say something like that or say such stupid things. "Filthy wolf," he countered. She would pay for her stupidity.

Corona kicked the female's side, exposed and open now that she was lying on her back. Hybrid ducked away from her flailing legs, watching as Samael took a moment to snap at her. There was already blood, from where he had bitten her on the leg as she had run. And now, there would be more.

Hybrid grinned, moving around Corona to bite at her exposed belly and chest. Hybrid could see Samael moving in to attack as well, lashing out with his claws and striking at her side.

Perhaps Adelaida suceeds in biting one of them and that’s where they get the idea to transfer the shifting virus to Ade? Holding the wound she made onto on that they made on her? XD yes/no?

Adelaida squirmed under the two bodies of the coyotes, still failing out with her legs every which way, and snapping mindless and in all directions, trying to ward off the creatures that had her pinned to the earth. Another appeared, fully shifted, her voice soft, almost pleasing as she mumbled to herself and then struck a quick kick to Adelaida’s side, causing the air to quickly expel from the wolf’s body. Gasping, Adelaida twisted about, trying to edge away from the coyotes, only to find one on either side of her now. Adelaida let out a soft moan, but could not muster up anymore words. Perhaps it was safer not to speak.

The two males were now going to work on her, snapping and tearing at her underside, but before they could inflict much damage Adelaida succeeded in twisting onto her right side, leaving the left exposed to the fangs and claws of the creatures above her. The fangs and claws met their mark as they rained down upon her, opening tiny and large wounds with each blow. Briefly the idea of begging for her life crossed her mind, but she would never beg a coyote, nor a shifter. Both were beneath her. Just the idea had filled her with a renewed hatred of the species and Adelaida blindly lunged, her jaws snapping, trying to find the flesh of one of them, any of them.

Damnit, I suck. Sorry about the wait guys. .__. And maybe one of them could hold Adelaida down and bite her something good somewhere? Like a shoulder or the neck or something. And then she can bleed and flail around and they can be all "LULZ." and leave? Or something. I don't know / care. XD Adelaida can bite Corona's hand if she wants or whatever!

_____The wolf started to flail about even more at the fact that they were all on her like carrion to cadaver, leaving Samael to pull back from her teeth as they passed by him. But just as soon as she had lashed out at them, he was right back in the fray of it all, snapping back with half a cheshire grin on his face. Corona on the other hand stayed back once again, letting the two who were on a more even battlefield take her while she surveyed what was going on. She hovered overhead, waiting once more for the moment where she could strike. She circled around slowly, planning her next course of action while Hybrid and Samael continued their tirade.

_____When the moment was right, Corona dropped down sharply to grab the wolf, letting the distraction of her two comrades be the perfect chance to grab her muzzle and try and clamp her mouth shut. Even if it failed and at worst she ended up with a broken hand from a well-placed bite, Corona believed it would be just one more step in the pathway of showing this wolf just why one didn't spot-and-run like they had something to be guilty about. Fear was one thing, but it was very apparent that her distastes lied in the wrong place at the wrong time. With her hands snaking around the dark muzzle, she cast a glance to Hybrid to lay in his best shot.

Orright, next reply I'll have Hybrid or Sam infect her in my next post. Big Grin

i heard they say the boy's missing

It almost seemed as though the girl had given up and accepted her fate. She twisted and wiggled, trying to squirm away from the fight, but did not lash out or attempt to strike them for a few moments. Although it would have been amusing to think the girl had given up, Hybrid did not believe she was going to just lay there and twitch. No, she was most likely in shock, from suddenly being kicked to attacked and mauled. He doubled the ferocity of his attacks, knowing he only had a short time before the wolf came to her senses and started to attack back.

The wolf squirmed again, moving her body so her side was bared perfectly to Hybrid. He lunged at her, digging his teeth into her side, attempting to rip her skin apart and spill her innards about on the sand. Soon enough, she began to move more, this time actually attacking. She lashed out, nearly striking Samael. Hybrid could see the other male move back, and Hybrid attempted to attack the girl while she was distracted. But she kept moving, and Hybrid was forced to move back. Her claws caught on some of his fur, yanking a small chunk out, leaving a small cut on his shoulder. Hybrid snarled, then attacked again, with renewed ferocity. He tried to grab a hold of her foreleg, attempting to rip it right off. Those little claws of hers were becoming a bit of a nuisance. He was about to bite down and attempt to snap it off when he saw Corona move, grabbing the female's muzzle between her hands. He switched tactics and attacked the girl again, aiming for her side.

The blows continued to rain on her body and Adelaida’s flesh was slowly growing accustomed to the pain. The shock of each new blow quickly reduced the pain of the last blow to a mere memory, she would ache later, but now she concentrated on feeling only the part of her that was currently taking damage. The blows came so fast that the pain was in a new place every moment, which only fed her own fury as she thrashed about beneath the circle the coyotes had created above her.

Her jaws continued to snap out and came close to catching flesh a few times, though it was her claw that created a single scratch on one of the male’s shoulder’s. It bled. Adelaida didn’t know why, but the sight of it made her smile and thrash harder, until she felt hands grasping her muzzle shut. For a moment she froze as the two males attacked with more ferocity at having their victim subdued, and them she realized just what the hand on her meant. Wolves and coyotes were not meant to have hands, they were not natural, and Adelaida was filled with a fresh disgusted and a sudden violent moment brought her muzzle free of the fingers that were firmly gripped on her. Filthy fucks. The words shot out of her mouth just as quickly as her mouth shot to the hand, her fangs finally making contact with flesh.

I hope you don't mind me jumping in here, Akumu. I figured I'd throw a quick reply in with Adelaida getting the virus.

i heard they say the boy's missing

Hybrid had never experienced an epiphany before, however, he was able to surmise that he was currently 'having' one. Filthy fucks had been all he needed to hear before he was struck with the most brilliant of ideas. It would be hilarious, and it was brilliant. If this girl hated their hands, their size, and their advantage, all strengths luperci had, why not give her the same gift? Why not give her this curse?

Hybrid did not give Samael any warning, suddenly striking the male, drawing blood. He only had a few more moments to execute his plan, for he could see that Adelaida was beginning to snap at Corona, trying to break free of her grip. With this in mind, he quickly retracted paw, covered in Samael's blood, and struck at Adelaida, attempting to hit one of the wounds she had already received as a result of Samael's teeth and claws, intending to have Samael's blood flow into her own and give her the virus.

That's okay. Sorry this has taken me so long. D:
[html]
Her grip slipped just enough in the chaos of it all that the wolf managed to get free and only second later, clamped straight down on one of her hands. It was enough to draw a firm, strained sort of snarl out of Corona, who reacted by bringing her other hand down against the dark-masked wolf's skull as a fist. It hurt like hell, burned like fire, but was well worth it as a distraction. There was enough blood between them now that it didn't matter from who it came (it was all the same colour anyway), but it would spell a disaster eventually for the one creature who believed them to be filthy. With the same hand that she had brought down to feeble knock the brains out of the wolf with, Corona simply went for another open place she could snake her hand to: the throat. She could live or she could die, it didn't matter one way or another to her, though Corona surely believed that her two relatives would have rather stringed her inwards through the grass and reeds.

Whooo... mission complete. Errm, should the coyotes then just decide to let poor Ade go or how’s she going to get out of this one?

Although Adelaida hadn’t understood everything about the virus that caused canines to turn into the monsters she feared, she understood enough that when two of the coyotes, instead of the continued assault on her body, held down their open wounds to her open wounds, she realized what was happening. With a sudden burst of energy Adelaida attempted to pull away from them, and so frantic was the creature that perhaps if it had only been one, or even two, of the coyotes she would have succeeded, but the three of them still restrained her and Adelaida struggled more fiercely than she ever had in her life. No... No... No No No NO NO! Adelaida thought of calling for help, but if anyone was around they already would have heard her screams and shouts, and if anyone had witness her attack they weren’t inclined to aid her. Although she continued to struggle, the idea that perhaps it would be best to die here, rather than live as one of them, crossed her mind, but her body ran on automatic. She would get free, or go down struggling. For the first time since the attack started Adelaida made true eye contact with the female coyote, her eyes filled with hatred, fear, and a pleading look to be let go.

Now I've forgotten that it's my turn. Anyway... I don't know what we're gonna do here so... *peers at Tammi?* D:

All things considered, they were probably lucky that no one else had heard of the commotion and ruckus that had gone on. It was far too easy for them to get outnumbered on either side. So when the dark-haired wolf looked to Corona with those pleading eyes, there was naturally no reaction at all. Corona only felt her gaze, because her focus was more on Hybrid at that point, looking at him expectantly to make what she thought would be the final blow. And as it were in that very moment, he was her superior. Maybe coyotes didn't have as strict of a hierarchy that she could remember, but it was the wolf side of her that shone through, waiting for a sign or a signal to do otherwise. With the pleading creature restrained and with Corona's hand around her neck, it could have gone any way they wanted it to. “You want the honours?” she asked, ignoring the squirms and cries.

[html]Hruuh, toughie. Hybrid's going to let her go, and we can pretend Samael ran after her, snapping at her? They could threaten to come back one day and kill her maybe? Force her to live in fear! That sound good?

He wasn't done yet. Although he acknowledged Corona's question, grinning quietly in response, he still had much, much more work to do. Rather than taking this child's life away (for that would be too easy a victory), he would take her soul instead. The girl had thrashed and fought, but the deed was done and she would undoubtedly become the very creatures she detested so much. It would be useless to kill her now-- not while she had both Samael's and Corona's blood flowing in her and changing her. Murdering her would be too easy, too simple, and would make all the work a waste. He glanced back over at Corona, offering her a sly grin, wondering if she would know what it meant.

Instead, they would leave her for dead, break her will, and promise to find her again. They would finish it later, continue this soon. She would soon cloak her mind in fear and use her ignorance and bigotry to hate both shifters and coyotes. But they would find her again and make her hurt, make her relive the entire ordeal again. But they didn't need to kill her then. Even if she died naturally, or by someone else's hands, the wounds would be much, much greater.

"The greatest honour I now have is the one to promise you this: we will find you again and we will make you feel this again. You will live your life as a luperci. Maybe one of us will find you; maybe all of us. If you thought death was the only thing to look forward to, you now have us as well." He grinned. His grin widened as he saw Samael smirk as well. Hybrid glanced over at Corona, nodding pointedly. He and Samael stepped away, backing up quickly so she wouldn't be able to lash out at them. For a few moments, there was silence. Then Samael uttered, "sweet dreams, my princess," and it was over.
