How did you learn/hear about 'Souls?: By accident going through eZWhore way back when.
Initial post or three past examples: It was all gone, save the ringing in his ears. The lands he'd learned to love and always considered home were so much dust and ashes, something like everything else in his life. Dead, deceased, no longer alive. The beautiful lands of Bleeding Souls were withered and black, only the toughest new life starting to make a comeback. But not the wolves. They were gone.
Most of them.
He followed the logical routes, the ones marked in ways he pretended he didn't see, and crossed over the farthest mountains, remembering his days running rabbit trails through Jaded Shadows. So much energy in his head he couldn't get rid of, couldn't vent properly. Now he had the opposite problem: not enough energy, too much to do. He loped along, seeming to blend into the coastal mist with his odd, steely-gray fur. The ocean whispered, but he only felt her gentle kisses against his face.
Agony. They never really knew how close his name was to the truth, as he turned away again and again from the ghosts that haunted him. Now his trademark bat-ears flicked, and now he turned towards the valleys and fields and forests that clearly made up a new 'Souls, a place he didn't know, didn't understand. He'd find them. Tayui first, and Shaeniire, the family he knew. Ember, his heart. He knew what was in 'Souls, they knew who he was.
What they did not know was what he brought with him.
