Naela whined and scratched the dirt; she was lonely and she was hungry. In turn, this made her sad, which made her doubt herself and – most importantly – her purpose. Surely she had a purpose, but at that moment Naela wasn’t so sure. Unless her purpose was to simply wander around aimlessly for the rest of her life. But that wasn’t much of a purpose. If that was her purpose then she would probably jump of a cliff. But Naela was neither masochistic nor suicidal, so the chances of that actually happening were very, very slim. Sighing a strange wolf-sigh, Naela started walking again. She had no idea where she was going, she never really had. Most of the time she just walked, not really paying attention to where she was going. More than once she’d stumbled across the edge of a pack boundry, but she was too chicken to bring attention to herself. Even though she desperately wanted to join a pack. Naela certainly was a strange wolf… but that was a given.

Naela’s nose twitched; was that… could that be…? Another wolf…? Suddenly happy, Naela jumped over a rock and looked around, searching for the other wolf. She spotted something in the distance, it had four legs and a tail… but that wasn’t a wolf. That was lunch. Naela’s eyes glinted hungrily as she crouched low behind the rocks, moving gracefully through the rocks just out of sight of her prey. She moved closer, stalking her prey, hoping she wasn’t giving herself away. She hadn’t done this in a while – she usually just waited for other canine’s to finish their meal and then try to get something off of the leftovers – so she was probably a little rusty around the edges. Still, nothing could out rule her instinct, and that was what was driving her now.

Then something else caught her eye, she was momentarily distracted from her prey by the creature she had smelt before. So there was another wolf.

my god, that was so incredibly BAD! Dx

Bah. ;o

Barthélémy was still trying to get used to these lands, and the more he tried, the more he seemed to fail. Everything was so different here, from the complete and utter lack of snow and ice to the strange structures that towered above him, stretching up and pointing to the sky. Sometimes, they were red, blue, yellow, and a number of strange colours. Well, they were-- much of the paint had flaked and chipped off in time. Mostly, the buildings had just frightened him, so he had run away.

It had not been the most productive of ideas, for now he was hopelessly lost. And hungry, which only served to add to his woes. But he had found prey-- a lone mule deer that was attempting to limp its way back to safety, wherever that might be. Barthélémy made sure to follow the creature silently, keeping a safe distance away from it. He didn't want to frighten it, for he was hunting alone, and even if the deer was old and slightly injured, he would only have one chance to make his kill.

He had long since shifted into his Secui form, having always found it easier to hunt when he was larger and faster. Although this gave him an advantage, it still did not make hunting along any easier. He had never caught anything this large on his own, and thus, was really just hoping his luck would hold and that he would be able to do this. Somehow.

He moved closer, moving around the right side of the deer so that he would eventually be able to sneak up on it from it's back, at an angle. He heard a sound off in the distance and froze; was there another deer out there? A herd, even? He glanced over to the source of the sound, and was surprised to see another wolf staring right at the deer. The wolf then shifted its gaze over to where Barthélémy was, and he perked his ears, trying to establish eye contact with the other. He jerked his head toward the deer, then looked pointedly at the wolf. Do you want to help? came his silent question, though, he didn't know if the wolf could understand him. He lifted up his foreleg, and tried to gesture to the deer with it, then pointed at himself and the wolf wolf, then back at the deer. Perhaps his luck really did hold out-- he might have found himself a hunting partner.

Naela watched the other wolf carefully, making not that it was an oddly large wolf and trying to make sense of what it was trying to say. It was indicating a lot to the deer, so the question obviously had something to do with the hunt. But then there was a lot of waving around with it's paw and Naela lost the plot. She cocked her head to the side in a way that showed she did not understand, she just wanted food. It would be great if she had help with hunting, but her socialisation skills had dropped since being on her own, and so she wasn't entirely sure how to act with other wolves anymore. Naela's eyes narrowed as she scrutinised the other wolf. Was it implying that this was it's own hunt? Could it be telling her to clear off.

Naela sunk lower to the ground and beared her teeth, shifting her body into an offensive position. She wasn't giving up without a fight. This was a vulnerable target, so taking it out should be fairly easy if she applied the right tactics. Though, if she and the other wolf were to fight it would probably frighten the creature and she'd loose her chance to get a meal. Unless they were to work together-

Oooooh, Naela thought, suddenly understanding what the other wolf had been trying to say. She returned to her hunting position, though hung her head in an apologetic way, as if to say she was sorry and that she had misunderstood. She then looked up to meet the other wolf's eyes and nodded, it was jerky movement but at least it was one of agreement.

Naela squinted her eyes, trying to see if the other wolf had seen her agreement to the silent question. She crouched lower and began stalking the deer, being sure to glance at the other wolf (and possibly hunting partner) every now and again so that they could stay in contact. As she got closer to the deer she got more and more cautious and light-footed in her approach, dearly hoping she wouldn't alarm the creature and send it running. Though catching up would be easy for her, as the other wolf could cut it off and they could effictively corner it. Not to mention the deer was injured.

Another crappy post, sorry. I'm new to wolf roleplays, so go easy on me >w<

You're doing a fine job for being new at this! And lovely table~ c:

He could see the deer slowly making its way farther and farther from where he was. He began to feel agitated, worried that the girl might not understand what he was trying to say, and eventually leave. He waited impatiently as she attempted she watched, trying not to let the anxiety eat him up. The deer was going, couldn't she see? He was about to move closer, to perhaps try and talk to her when she suddenly moved, sinking low to the ground, and baring her fangs. Barthélémy inched back, tucking his tail between his legs and flattening his ears against his skull. Non, non, non, he thought quietly to himself. This wasn't supposed to be happening!

He glanced at the deer, noticing it had paused to examine some grass more closely. Relieved, he turned his gaze back to the dark wolf, only then realizing he had looked away from a wolf that was baring her fangs at him. Oops. He backed up, trying not to make too much noise, afraid he might scare the deer away and give the wolf reason to attack him. Even if he was in his Secui form, it didn't register-- his possible advantage of size? Inapplicable.

He was about to dash off when, again, the girl changed tactics. She moved away, keeping her head low, then moved it in a quick nod. Barthélémy understood, now, wondering what the anger was. Perhaps she was trying to establish her dominance-- Bart would happily give her the first bite of the kill if she wanted it. He didn't mind at all-- she looked like she would be able to take it from him if he wanted it, after all.

He followed her around the other side of the deer, slowly making his away closer and closer. He kept going, slipping past the deer so he would be able to drive it toward the other wolf. It would be difficult with only two of them, but the area was rocky and he would be able to drive it off a small dip in the land where the ground suddenly dropped a foot, and left it open where it was only the face of a rock. He began to move, slinking through the shadows, moving quietly. He watched the deer approach, hiding behind a small bush. The wind was still, and the deer would not be able to smell him until it was too late; perfect.

The deer came closer, and Bart waited until it was close enough before springing at it, charging full speed. He came close enough to snap at the deer's legs, wounding it slightly. The deer veered off to the right, and Bart followed it, pushing it back on course, and toward the dip in the land and Naela. He let out a few quick barks to let Naela know he and the deer were coming.
